Jesus' Teaching on Prayer 11 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father,[a] hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.[b] 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c] And lead us not into temptation.[d]'” 5 Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.' 7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity[e] he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. 9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

1 Pet 4:7-11 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. Tough times are the true test of the quality of something. TEAM Together Everyone Achieves More 1 - A praying Church 1 Pet 4:7 Prayer is the engine room of the Church. 2 - A Loving Church 1 Pet 4:8-9 ‘Love covers a multitude of sins.' - Forgiveness Forgive as the Lord forgave us. We have to keep forgiving - the Lord forgave us once and for all! - Friendship ‘Offer hospitality without grumbling!' 3 - A Serving Church ‘EACH of you should use your gifts' (that's everyone, not just a few key individuals). 1 Pet 4:10-11 - Speaking - Serving So the glory can go to God!

Matthew 9:35-38 - The Workers Are Few 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Anthony Closson is a USAF Veteran and the Founder and CEO of Colossal Contracting- an SDVOSB Value-Added Reseller and IT Solutions Provider that has broken away from the pack bringing them to the forefront of the Defense and Civilian Industries by embodying their foundation as a company built upon military core values.  Anthony brings to the table more than a decade of executive leadership experience and over 15 years of managing IT integrations. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Master’s of Business Administration with a Specialization in Project Management.  While deployed in Iraq and when working stateside at Joint Base Andrews, Closson learned first hand about the value of the relationship between government employees and civilian contractors. Taking that knowledge, experience, work ethic and sense of responsibility for the success of any of their customer’s missions, Anthony established Colossal as a dynamic force within a crowded and challenging industry. A decade later, Colossal now supports mission-critical systems and services across dozens of government agencies on a global scale, growing the company every year since its inception in 2009. Colossal now holds five GWAC’s and an array of agency specific BPAs and IDIQs.  Anthony’s intensity and motivation are equal in business and philanthropy as Colossal is an avid sponsor for nonprofit organizations. Last year Colossal was selected as the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Small Employer of the Year  for their efforts in hiring and supporting the members of our armed services. The company is proud to claim that more than 1 in 4 employees are veterans, reservists or members of the national guard. Anthony led Colossal’s first ever “22 For You Day” partnering with Mission22, a non-profit dedicated to veteran suicide prevention and raised over $30,000 for the cause. As his company continues to expand, Closson has not lost sight of the importance of taking care of your customers personally and specifically embodying the role of a servant leader by guiding the entire company to operate with intentionality and integrity. He is humbled by this opportunity to share his journey, his successes, his mistakes and the lessons he has learned with other small business owners and industry professionals so they can too can succeed.

Change Your POV Podcast

SUMMARY: In this week’s ATTACK Episode of Change Your POV, Eddie and Bennett talk about something that we have all seen, or even participated in. The 22 Push-Ups A Day Challenge. If this is new to you let me explain. There are reports out there that there is upwards of 22 Veteran Suicides every day. The 22 Push-Ups Per Day Challenge (most commonly seen on social media like Facebook and Instagram). Is a way to raise awareness to this atrocity. Although we agree that raising awareness is important, it probably won’t have the desired effect needed to mitigate these suicides. WE ALL NEED TO DO SOMETHING ELSE. IN THIS PARTICULAR EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: We discuss the power of Social Media and how effective awareness can be, look at the “Ice Bucket Challenge” We believe that the 22 Push-Ups A Day Challenge is a spin-off of that initiative hoping it will have the same viral effect. Eddie and Bennett agree that awareness is very important but awareness à la carte is just not all that effective. It does help build community and esprit de corps, and can even help you with your physique, but not much else. Is there something else that you can do in conjunction with your daily Push-Ups? YES!! In this episode, you will learn 22 different things you can do in addition to your Push-Ups that can really make a difference in the lives of Veterans that find themselves in a difficult time in their lives. 22 Additional Ways Along With Your Push-Up ONE Get a list of 5-10 guys you served with. Make a buddy list and make a commitment to reach out once a week. You can do this through phone call, text message, Facebook messenger, Facebook group, face-to-face TWO Take the Spartan Pledge – The point is to swear an oath that a Warfighter (Veteran, Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman, Coastie, etc.) will not end their own life, no matter the circumstances.  It is an oath of solidarity, and a way of saying, “We’re all in this together.” THREE Invite Veterans to an Event – This could be a Veterans Day or Memorial Day Parade, a movie, conference, or concert. FOUR Attend Networking Events – There are TONS of Networking events and many that are geared specifically towards Veterans. Check Out this awesome Resources that will help you find Veteran Networking Events. FIVE Warrior Link-Ups – Warrior Link-Up is a gathering of like-minded veterans who are striving for success in entrepreneurship or other business ventures.  It is an opportunity to network and find the camaraderie you experienced when you served in uniform.  Warrior Link-Up provides an environment where veterans can take their head off a swivel and just be themselves.  A place where you can hang up your armor.  Come and unwind with your brothers and sisters. Find a battle buddy, confidant or a mentor.  This is where you belong. SIX Reunions – Hold an annual reunion with guys you served with, or just get some local guys togeather for a BBQ or camping trip. I recorded an episode about Mastermind Groups with a guy that is in my Mastermind Group. This may be helpful if you are looking to join or start a Mastermind Group! Mastering The Mastermind. NINE Become a member of a Veteran Non-Profit Organization – There are thousands of Veterans out there looking to start their own Veteran Non-Profit 501c3. However, in order to legitimize the entity they may need several members to sit on the board of that Non-Profit. This will give you a way to stay plugged in, be a part of a team again and work with other Veterans! TEN Join the Team of a Veteran Organization – You may not want to commit to becoming a board member, but you may still want to get involved! There are thousands of VSO’s (Veteran Service Organizations) out there. Find one and get plugged in. Team Red White And Blue, Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues, The 6th Branch, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance are just a few. Get involved, you are bound to find other Veterans that may need your help! TWELVE Find other Veterans and Shake Their Hand, Thank them for their service and for paving the way for out younger generation. The fact of the matter is the largest number of the 22 a day that are taking their own lives are the Vietnam Veterans. Something as simple as you reaching out your hand and connecting with these Vets can have a profound positive impact! Where better to start than at the VA? There are so many ways you can get involved and help other Veterans that are in need at your local VA! Follow this link for VET TIX and you can get discounted tickets to all types of events. Create some buzz and get a few guys togeather. SIXTEEN Leave an anonymous card or note on the windshield of a Veteran’s car/truck. I carry around a notebook and pen in my car wherever I go. On occasion, I will see a car in the parking lot of a store I am going in, and I will write a quick note thanking the owner of the car for their Service. It is not hard and totally anonymous but I’m telling you… What a positive impact you can have on someone’s world! SEVENTEEN Vietnam Veteran Buddy Finder – I interviewed a Vietnam Veteran who used the Vietnam Buddy Finder Facebook Group to help him find some long lost buddies from his time in Vietnam. NINETEEN Start a business and hire at-risk Veterans! – This is not rocket science. one of the biggest problems facing newly transitioning Veterans is employment. If you are interested in starting your own business why not hire other Veterans to fill your much-needed positions? TWENTY Volunteer to be a mentor – There are so many Veterans getting out of the service and many of them are going to struggle in some form or fashion. Think back to when you got out. Did you have everything figured out? I sure as the hell didn’t! anyone that claims to have had a seamless transition from Military to the Civilian sector is either a big fat liar or had some really big outside help! TWENTY ONE Start a Community Garden – Check out the Veterans Healing Farm! Transitioning from military life back into the civilian sector is a challenge all veterans face. Unfortunately, many veterans lack the tools, support network, and resources needed to meet this challenge.  The results are an alarmingly high rate of veteran suicide, depression, divorce, homelessness, and substance abuse. For this reason, John Mahshie, a disabled Air Force veteran, started Veterans Healing Farm; to create a thriving micro-community that fosters deep friendships, implement innovative gardening techniques, and help cultivate emotional, physical, and spiritual health. The goal is to personally empower vets through the realization that their own efforts and contributions are important to our community. First of all I want to apologize for the background noise. We were in a new venue (Charlie's House) and I did not anticipate the background noises but it wasn't too bad. Episode 005 takes us into the serious topic of PTSD and Depression among veterans. This is not to say that veterans are better than anyone else with a mental illlness. The intent is to bring awareness to these issues for both military and civilian alike. Thanks to Cesar, James, TJ and Charlie for sharing their different experiences with their depression and PTSD. They shared their triggers, their symptoms and their experiences with VA physicians. And even though our solutions to these issues seem simple; we have a long way to go. Shout out to #Mission22, #VAHospitals, #Cigarsandseastories. If you listen to this Podcast and you suffer from depression or PTSD please know that their are options and seek help. www.myhealth.va.gov
