On Thursday, September 8, primetime television's Number 1 show for an unprecedented 11 consecutive seasons with a record 11 Emmys for Outstanding Live Sports Series – "Sunday Night Football" on NBC and Peacock -- will return with a new look to kick off the NFL season. Coordinating producer Rob Hyland, play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico, and sideline reporter Melissa Stark respectively replace Fred Gaudelli, Al Michaels, and Michele Tafoya. The new trio and returning analyst Cris Collinsworth say they already feel like they've been together for a while. The "Sunday Night Football" pregame show, "Football Night in America," also received a facelift with host Maria Taylor leading new analysts, former Cowboys quarterback and head coach Jason Garrett, and fantasy football expert, Matthew Berry, as they join returning analysts Tony Dungy and Chris Simms. Hear from all five as they evolve the most-watched studio show in sports while staying true to their mission.

On today's show, I first open with a recognition that it was one year ago today we abandoned the country of Afghanistan in one of the worst foreign policy debacles in our nation's history. But, don't take my word for it. We turn to Jake Tapper of CNN to tell you that for himself. Then we continue to see how the FBI and DOJ narrative keeps changing before our very eyes. What started off as an issue regarding presidential records, changed to nuclear weapons related information to now possession of Top Secret SCI documents. And, while they keep changing the target, we find out the search warrant literally allowed agents to seize any and all documents from the time Donald Trump was sworn into office to the time he left. What happened to the “specific” and “targeted” reason for the search? Seems like they went on a giant fishing expedition. The real crux of the matter is any president, while in office, has the power to classify and declassify anything they want. This is not new, but we cannot expect the Legacy media to tell us this information. It's better to play games with hyperbole, preying on the ignorance of others to paint a wild and crazy scenario of a man out to jeopardize our national security. Ken Dilanian, intelligence and national security correspondent for NBC New (and a massive pusher of the Russian Collusion Hoax, was on with Andrea Mitchell this weekend. He told just enough truth to pull the audience in and then went on wild fictional fantasy to scare the people watching. Thankfully, having a background in naval intelligence, I am able to point out his fallacious examples and how the intel community really works. We then hear from one of Donald Trump's former security advisers, Kash Patel, who reminds the American people of the power of the president to declassify anything they want. He also points out how the FBI did not come anywhere close to this course of action with Hillary Clinton while she was in possession similar Top Secret documents. Keep in mind, while a president has the power to declassify anything, a Secretary of State cannot. Joe Scarborough had the stones to bring on disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok on the Morning Joe to tell how how the FBI never plays favorites. He then went on to slur the right, mocked the former president and lied about treating all parties the same. If you doubt the purity of the FBI, we cut to a congressional hearing where former CBS journalist Sharyl Attkisson was testifying on how they caught the FBI trying to hack her laptop and later tried to plant child porn on her husband's PC. So, yes, there are issues when it comes to the power and the audacity of some of the folks within the FBI and other agencies within the Executive Branch. We wrap up with Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) who reminds us how the Left creates and promotes propaganda. He then says at least 14 agents within the FBI have come to his office as whistleblowers, upset at the political agenda within the Bureau. Bobb, confirming an account that she first recounted to The Washington Post, told NBC News that lawyers for Trump were talking to Justice Department officials this spring about the records being stored at Mar-a-Lago. At one meeting, she said, Trump's lawyers searched through between two and three dozen boxes in a storage area and gave Justice Department officials “a few pages” that could meet the definition of being a presidential record. Bobb told NBC News that at one meeting on June 3, she and another Trump lawyer were talking with a senior Justice Department official at Mar-a-Lago when Trump stopped by briefly to say hello. At that meeting, a source close to Trump told NBC New, Trump personally showed the Justice Department official the room where the materials were. Bobb said Trump officials added a lock on a storage unit after Justice officials said they did not believe it was secure. That lock was broken during the FBI search on Monday, she told NBC. Trump's spokesman Taylor Budowich in a new statement issued Tuesday, blasted the FBI search. “Monday's brazen raid was not just unprecedented, it was completely unnecessary,” Budowich said. “President Trump and his representatives have gone to painstaking lengths in communicating and cooperating with the appropriate agencies — something that is routine for all similar instances.” https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/09/fbi-seized-boxes-in-trump-raid-in-florida-lawyer-says.html

Today’s guest is one of the lead actors from my favorite hit show from NBC, New Amsterdam. Jocko Sims plays Dr. Floyd Reynolds in this brilliant show. He is a talented actor, (you may have seen him in the show Crash, The Last Ship) he is a producer, incredible cook, hails from Texas, but resides in NYC. I wanted to interview someone from this show, because it is one of those shows that touches your heart. They are using their platform to talk about issues of race, healthcare, and mental health with love and compassion. Last year I had the opportunity to travel to New York City with the Today Show Parents team and previewed the second season of New Amsterdam. While there I met some of the staff of this NBC hit show. I had previously written a blog post about how one of the phrases Dr. Max Goodwin played by Ryan Eggold asks in each episode, “How can I help?” It impacted me in such a way that I want to live my life with that question always on my lips as I meet people. So after talking with NBC, they reached out to Jocko who was so gracious and kind, you will fall in love with him. Thank you to Jocko for letting me ask heartfelt questions about how we can be a community that helps each other, no matter what. I hope you are touched by this conversation and it inspires you to help others in your own way. In this episode, Franklin and I discuss what we wish we had known before entering the teaching profession, cultural relevant teaching in the elementary music classroom, and the importance of music education advocacy. You'll get SO much out of this episode and so many amazing ideas, strategies, and thoughts were shared. Some of my favorite things Franklin said in this episode are: Build community, build trust, build relationships Understand that the kids have some brilliance and knowledge that we don't have and be ok with letting them share that with us. Understand what it is that you want to accomplish as a music educator and start with the end in mind. We can accept and realize that it's ok to explore the music our student's enjoy, while still implementing the musical standards. Music education advocacy begins with the teacher and your views on music education. Mr. Franklin J. Willis currently serves as the Elementary Music Coach for the Metro Nashville Public Schools district. In this role he provides instructional support for elementary music teachers in creating a learning environment that fosters meaningful cultural experiences int eh performance, understanding and appreciation of music. Before this new role, Willis taught both general music and choir at the elementary and middle school levels for the past decade. He is a three time recipient of the prestigious Country Music Association Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence award. His student performance groups have been featured on national syndicated television programs such as NBC New with Lester Holt, Entertainment Tonight, and The Today Show. He specializes in providing musical instruction that will empower and engage all children to achieve their best through authentic culturally relevant teaching experiences. He is a graduate of the University of Memphis where he earned a Bachelor's of Music Education with an emphasis in choral music. Willis also earned the Master of Education Degree in Nonprofit Leadership at Belmont University. To learn more about Franklin and his advocacy for music education visit his website at www.fwillismusic.com You can also follow Frankin on social media here: Instagram Twitter I'd love for you to leave a rating and a review of the podcast on I-tunes, be sure to share the podcast with any music teacher friends who would find it helpful and be sure to tag me on Instagram or Facebook.
In what is expected to be the final day of open testimony, Fiona Hill, the former top Russia expert for the White House, and David Holmes, senior diplomat at the US Embassy in Ukraine, discussed their concerns about the involvement of Rudy Giuliani, Gordon Sondland and the President himself in US foreign policy toward Ukraine. Dr. Hill also made a point to criticize the false narrative embraced by Republicans that Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in the 2016 election. Garrett Haake, MSNBC Washington Correspondent, talks about what else we learned from Hill and Holmes, and what’s next in the inquiry. Description: Rep. Pelosi opens an impeachment inquiry into the president, Donald Trump, who sought the assistance of Ukraine and other countries in gathering dirt on his political opponent, Joe Biden. What does this mean for the state of the country and democracy, considering the intense partisan divide in our times? Will republicans finally put country before party? Or is power to strong of a drug to deny? Will impeachment help or harm Trump's chance at re-election? Listen as Fulton provide her thoughts on the state of affairs regarding impeachment and democracy. Do you agree or disagree with her assessments? Noah Rothman is an MSNBC and NBC New contributor, Associate Editor of Commentary Magazine, and author of the book Unjust: Social Justice and the Unmaking of America. He and Bridget have a fascinating conversation about the origins of the social justice movement, the fact that “social justice” as a term defies definition, the paradox of treating individuals unequally in order to achieve equality, and whether or not it’s just tribalism with a fancy name. They cover Noah’s early career in radio, how he got started as a writer, advice to writers seeking to make a career for themselves, dealing with imposter syndrome, and the ridiculousness of the office air conditioning sexism debate. They discuss the “outrage economy” cultural politics, bad faith interpretations of common idioms like “real man,” and how a self-destructive movement can do a lot of damage before it self-destructs. President Trump does not often sit down for long television interviews. This is interesting considering Trump is a man obsessed with the news and who also has an uncanny ability to determine (or distract) the media’s attention. This week, however, George Stephanopoulos observed, interacted, and interviewed President Trump for 30 hours. Many comments from that interview made news — like President Trump would be receptive to help from a foreign government during the 2020 election (this is illegal); he thinks he answered written questions on obstruction to Bob Mueller (he didn’t); Trump repeatedly stated the Mueller report says there were was no collusion (Mueller specifically did not say this); and Trump cannot handle people coughing around him (is Mulvaney on his way out?!).In this episode of Polilogue, we also look at how Washington is responding to this interview and how the globe is reacting to the escalated tensions between the US and Iran. We also discuss messaging strategies by 2020 candidates, Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders.
