I would assume that almost every GP listening to this podcast is practicing some level of esthetic dentistry in their operatory, specifically direct restorative procedures. And we all have our favorite clinical techniques and materials. But the question is, are we doing everything optimally, after all our goal is to get the best bond possible while ensuring the patient is pain free after the procedure. To help us answer this question and much more, is our guest Dr. Richard Young. Dr. Young is an Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Loma Linda University in the under graduate dental aesthetics program, and practice management courses. In his daily practice, he uses simple, advanced adhesion techniques with a focus on minimally invasive preparations.

So the question is, when a patient presents with a blown out tooth and can't afford to spend a ton of money, can we restore the tooth with a composite filling and will it last? Our guest today, Dr John Gammachia, says yes we can! In fact, a great deal of his practice is based on doing this as he pushes the envelope with today's advanced composite materials utilizing the latest bonding technology, and of course, meticulous clinical technique. Today we'll talk to Dr. Gammichia about how he does this with such a high rate of clinical success and at the same time maintains a very profitable practice. Dr. Gammichia owns a private practice in Orlando, FL, lectures throughout the country and has published articles on how to use composite for severely broken down teeth. He is a courtesy faculty member at the University of Florida in the Department of Operative Dentistry.

Rita and Zane had a heck lot of fun from last weekend's Jianbing Battle food festival. Organized by Beijing's celebrated brewer Peiping Machine Taphouse, the street food festival drew thousands of foodies to try out a variety of Jianbing, the Chinese take of pancakes. Also presented are local coffee baristas, wineries and Japanese sake bars, and of course, good DJ and music. We were still in food coma as we got into the car and recorded this episode of Soft Spot!
