This week's guest is top comedian Ben Clover who joins us live from Edinburgh Fringe, hence the clear background noise of people having way too much fun in the daytime. Ben explains how he changed his look post plague, to a point where his cohorts barely recognised him in the street. Regarding telly, we discuss the genius and brutality of shows such as Wolf, Deadwood and Utopia, the latter being a show that Ben could no doubt write a thesis on. The talent of David Simon comes up yet again, as does the creepiness behind Top of the Pops presenters and the BBC test card. Conversely, Ben also contemplates how different the TV show Life on Mars could have been had it been made just a few years later, with the investigative knowledge of Operation Yewtree within Sam Tyler's remit.Follow us on Instagram & Twitter (links below):All music written and performed in this podcast by Steve Otis Gunn. Please buy my book 'You Shot My Dog and I Love You' available in all good book shops, online and directly.Podcast Socials:Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@tvtimespodInsta: https://www.instagram.com/tvtimespodYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@tvtimespodTwitter: https://twitter.com/tvtimespodSteve's Socials:Insta: https://www.instagram.com/steveotisgunnTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/steveotisgunnFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/steveotisgunn.antisocialBen's Socials:Insta: https://www.instagram.com/benclovercomedianTwitter: https://twitter.com/BenClover_Produced by Steve Otis Gunn for Jilted Maggotwww.jiltedmaggot.com Hosted on Acast. They're talking about one of the worst true crime cases in British History. Episode 100 is a special one, the centenary, so Rachel and Kiri are looking at Jimmy Savile.  Part 5, THE FINAL PART, takes a look at the death of Savile's Mother, his own death and operation Yewtree. Staircases have always played a vital role in cinema; any time our hero or villain needs to ascend or descend a level, the humble stair is there to allow it to happen. Ripe for injecting symbolism into a scene or used metaphorically to show our protagonists character development, the stairs are also a place where fights, chases and sometimes comedy can occur. So join us and go stair-crazy with this weeks Top 5 Set On A Staircase. The legendary 2000 A.D. is a British sci-fi comic which has been around since the 1970's and has at one time or another received contributions from some of our most well-known writers and artists, including Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Grant Morrison and Garth Ennis. Undoubtedly the most famous of all its characters is Judge Dredd, a law enforcement officer in the dystopian future city Mega-City One. Sylvester Stallone has already played the character on the big screen but the movie struggled to find an audience as it was stripped essentially of everything that made the character and world he inhabits interesting. Alex Garland and Pete Travis rebooted the persona with Karl Urban starring as the titular Judge in 2012's DREDD. But would this version of the role resonate with the Dads?Obvious humour, catchphrases, pratfalls, silliness and the most ridiculous cranial and facial hair you are ever likely to see combine to give us Chucklevision, a British kids tv comedy starring Barry and Paul Chuckle (the Chuckle Brothers). In 'Trouble In Store' the half-witted mullet-sporters are left in charge of a supermarket and before you can say 'Operation Yewtree' our childish simpletons are neck deep in banana skins, floor polish and wee-jimmy Krankie's orifices. Chuckle? Did I fuck. We love to hear from our listeners! By which I mean we tolerate it. In October 2014, Teret appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court accused of more than 30 offences of sexual abuse, including 18 charges of rape, some dating back to the 1960s. One of the charges related to an alleged offence committed by Teret and Savile together. Two other men, William Harper and Alan Ledger, were also charged, and were tried alongside Teret. All three men denied all the charges.[11] In December Teret was found guilty of seven charges of rape and eleven charges of indecent assault, with one victim aged only 12.[8] The other two defendants were found not guilty of all charges, and Teret was acquitted of assisting Savile to rape an alleged victim, but was found guilty of raping the same complainant himself. On 11 December 2014, Mr. Justice Baker sentenced Teret to 25 years in prison. The judge said that it was likely that most, if not all, of his remaining years would be spent in prison.[2] A lawyer for 169 of Savile's victims stated that Teret's conviction represents "the closest the victims of Jimmy Savile will get to a conviction against their attacker".[12] https://www.acoupleofaveragejoes.com/

DEEP DIVE - On this episode of Those Conspiracy Guys we talk about undoubtedly one of the worst and most prolific paedophiles in history; Jimmy Savile. We chat about how his high powered career at the BBC, his tireless charity work and his lofty appointments by The Pope and The Queen of England couldn’t keep the truth from coming out after his death in 2011 and reports of up to 450 men, women and children suffered at the cigar stained hands of this monster.Starting as a DJ in the 40s and working his way through the ranks of the modern media, Jimmy Savile was at the forefront of what would become a broadcasting behemoth. The BBC went through an unprecedented scandal after Savile’s death and all eyes were on them, how they responded, others who were involved, and police investigations sought to discover Savile’s accomplices and maybe even his customers. We talk about his early life, his propensity for psychopathy, the complicity of his underlings in the BBC and the institutions where he was installed as a charitable benefactor, the children hospitals and homes where staff turned a blind eye to the very obvious and unspeakable crimes he committed on the very young, the very old and even the disabled. With a veil of benevolence and a way with the media, Savile hid in plain sight and his victims only spoke out after confirmation of his death. With the sexual assault allegations levelled against Savile, a dam was burst and many other more sinister crimes were alleged. The Metropolitan Police Service launched Operation Yewtree, one of dozens of sexual abuse investigations opened at the time, to try to find any links to still living perpetrators. Modern child abuse scandals like Pizzagate, also bear the marks of Savile’s actions and there are strong suspicions that he wasn’t even the top of the pile when it came to these horrific crimes.________________________This podcast is supported by the generous donations of the wonderful folks over at Patreon. Join John Hoare, Tanya Jones, Danny Stephenson, Ian Symes and the Fan Club's Jo Sharples for a spot of criticising, castigating, chiding, blaming, harping, panning and scoffing at Timewave. It's not pretty at times, but I'd like to think we at least covered the reasons why we reacted so badly to the episode, and we were aided by two fantastic guests - Shelley Smith and Dan Pendleton - to give their perspectives on some of the trickier topics. The brilliant subjects that we really enjoyed discussing to death included the problematic portrayal of the Enconium's crew, Cat's problematic attitude to women, unresolved plots, repetitive jokes and speedy resolutions. Plus, for the second week in a row we discuss the word "clitoris" and Operation Yewtree, although not at the same time. On the plus side, there are positive comments at a rate of roughly one every twelve minutes, a brief preview of the next episode, and... well, the intro music's pretty catchy this week.

Welcome to an NDebz podcast special and out interview with the broadcaster Paul Gambaccini about his book 'Love, Paul Gambaccini my year under the Yewtree' in which the Radio 2 presenter speaks candidly about his experience of spending a year on Police bail as part of Operation Yewtree which was set up by the Police in response to the historical sexual offences involving the late personality Jimmy Saville. Innocent from the start, Gambaccini denied allegations made against him, but for 12 months was repeatedly re-bailed and forced into a career sabbatical. During this time the loss in earnings and legal fees cost him more than £200,000. Paul believes he was kept on bail for so long so that he could be used as what he describes as human fly paper in order to encourage the public to make further allegations about other celebrities. It wasn't until 10 October 2014 that he was told no case was being brought against him. We spoke to Paul at his home in London at the tail end of 2015... He's speaks about his life with husband Christopher, meeting Elizabeth Taylor, how Elton John was instrumental in Paul getting his first spot on Radio One and of course his year under the Yewtree.

The recording quality on some of this is not great due to Richard doing it on a phone in his pocket, but hopefully it will improve in future. Audiophiles will be upset, but you disgust me.

On this episode of the Cinescape Magazine Podcast Compelled, we discuss Ray Teret as we continue our look into Operation Yewtree and the associates of Jimmy Savile In 1999, Teret was found guilty of unlawful sex with a 15-year-old girl.[8] On 8 November 2012, Teret was arrested at his home on Woodlands Road in Altrincham by Greater Manchester Police, one of two arrests made in connection with an allegation of historic rape.[9] The offences are alleged to have taken place in Trafford in the 1960s and 1970s against three women who were then under the age of consent.[4] The arrests were not part of Operation Yewtree[10] (the investigation into offences allegedly committed by Jimmy Savile and others) though Teret was a close associate of Savile.
