A single yoga class made him question everything he thought success was supposed to look like.In this episode, Marc Laws shares the unexpected path that took him from professional soccer and sports therapy into a much deeper exploration of yoga, purpose, and human connection. What began as physical training slowly became something far more personal after witnessing burnout, pressure, and disconnection in the people around him, and in himself. He speaks about the moment yoga stopped being just movement, the teacher who completely shifted his perspective, and why he believes slowing down may be one of the most powerful things a person can do. The conversation moves through fatherhood, play, community, spirituality, and the strange way life keeps pulling us back toward what feels true.If you have ever felt successful on the outside but disconnected underneath, this episode will leave you thinking long after it ends.Episode Chapters:00:00:00 Introduction00:01:20 From the UK to Professional Soccer00:02:11 Sports Therapy and Burnout00:02:50 The Yoga Class That Changed Him00:04:03 Ego, Handstands, and Self Inquiry00:05:01 Leaving the Clinic Life00:05:23 Arriving in Bali00:08:12 Soccer as a Philosophy Teacher00:09:50 Yoga, Community, and Dharma00:11:10 Favorite Yoga Poses00:13:25 Teaching Style and Stillness00:15:58 Fatherhood as Spiritual Practice00:17:30 What Kids Really Want00:18:14 Why Life Should Include Play00:19:46 Three Words for His Teaching00:21:29 “How to Make Love” Class Story00:22:34 Dharma Talks and Storytelling00:24:00 Building Community Through Purpose00:27:34 What He's Nerding Out On00:28:41 Jungle Keeper Book Mention00:31:01 How to Connect Mentions & Resources:Michael Henri's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/michaelyoga.pt/ Marc Law's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/marclawsii/The IN Movement Instagram: https://www.instagram/com/the_in_movement/Book: Jungle Keeper by Paul RosolieTeacher mentioned: Stuart GilchristPlatform mentioned: GloTags: yoga, mindfulness, burnout, purpose, community, fatherhood, spirituality, dharma, soccer, sports therapy, Bali, self inquiry, playfulness, awareness, embodiment, stillness, vinyasa, philosophy, conscious living

In Episode 132, Kei's here to tell you how it happened and what they want young acro dancers to know about making this a real career. About Kei Nguyen Kei's story began in Vancouver where, from a young age, they were trained in the disciplined arts of dance and rhythmic gymnastics. Forged further at the Circus School of Quebec, Kei developed a unique approach to staff manipulation. Over the years, Kei has added other circus disciplines under their belt, including hand to hand and aerial pole. Their diversity of skill sets is what sets them apart. Armed with a philosophy that every artistic experience is a feather added to their wingspan, they seek out adventure wherever it calls and leave a trail of sparkle under their feet. Hand balancing is entering a new chapter. In this episode, Meaghan Wegg introduces the Hand Balancing syllabus under Aerial Arts and shares why balance is not a trick or a strength test, but a skill that can be taught safely and progressively. From reducing fear upside down to building confidence through clear structure, this conversation explores how a syllabus changes the way hand balancing is taught in studios. If you teach dancers, aerialists, or acro students, this episode offers a fresh perspective on balance, alignment, and what is now possible with a structured approach. Ready to bring Hand Balancing to your studio? Register now and be part of the first wave of teachers building this discipline the right way. The Outdoors Fix is a podcast to inspire you to make the outdoors a bigger part of your life. It's hosted by Liv Bolton. In this episode, Liv Bolton is joined by Sameed Asghar, who takes her and photographer Frankie Dewar on a hike up to a waterfall in Carding Mill Valley in Shropshire. It turns out to be possibly one of the wettest recordings Liv's ever done… but also one of the most fun. Sameed is a real force of nature. Despite the rain, he was throwing in handstands and yoga poses along the way, bringing so much joy and energy to what could very easily have been a complete washout. It's no surprise that he makes a brilliant Mountain Leader — even though that was never something he imagined for himself growing up in Birmingham, where he says his experience of nature didn't stretch further than his local park. Now, through his hiking company Summit Special Adventures, Sameed has led community and charity groups on hikes across the UK and around the world. At the heart of his work is a strong commitment to introducing people from ethnic minority backgrounds and inner-city areas to the outdoors, and to championing greater diversity in nature spaces. We hope you enjoy the conversation — and a big thank you to Sameed! "Eliminate frustration and speed ahead." Who doesn't want this?  When it comes to strength training - and calisthenics in particular - many ambitious and well-meaning enthusiasts jump right into a laundry list of progressions... And fall flat on their tushes.  If you want to feel like you're positively speeding through the various and sundry progressions that lay at the heart of each and every advanced calisthenics movement, you must first dominate their prerequisite movements.  This is the sure-fire path to things such as:  One-arm pushups Pistol squats Nigh on effortless pullups much, much more In this episode I dish on:  [0:00:28] Natural Movement and Standardized Exercises Discussion about learning basic movement patterns, balancing standardized exercises with natural human movements, and recommendations such as crawling, carries, and gait pattern work. [0:02:36] Handstand & Prerequisite Example from Social Media [0:05:00] Personal Anecdote: Prerequisites in Practice [0:06:27] Progress with Handstands and Sequential vs. Simultaneous Training [0:09:16] Lunge Program Leading to Improved Pistol Squats [0:10:32] Embracing the Foundations Valuing foundational, repetitive practice (particularly of prerequisites) across fitness skills.  [0:11:06] Closing   If you like training that: · Gives you more strength than it takes from you · Improves your stamina and resilience simultaneously · Powers-up every nook, cranny, crevice, and corner of your Soft Machine Then you just might like my 9-Minute Kettlebell and Bodyweight Challenge. As the name indicates, it's just 9 minutes long, and it's designed to be done WITH your current workouts – NOT instead of them. Even cooler: Many find that it actually amplifies their strength in their favorite kettlebell and bodyweight moves, like presses, squats, pullups, and more. And best of all, it's free. How free? I'm talkin' freer than the 4th of July, my friend. Get thee thine own copy here:  http://www.9MinuteChallenge.com  Have fun and happy training! Aleks Salkin

RETRO RHLSTP #87 - I've Never Stabbed Anyone…Oh No, I Have. - A tired and possibly ill Richard Herring tries to get through another podcast without vomiting on his guest, the disaster-magnet that is Janey Godley. She talks candidly about marrying the son of a Glasgow gangster, her many family tragedies and how she survived them plus how Jerry Sadowitz was almost killed at one of his first gigs, what she'd like to do with Roland Gift, witnessing horrific accidents and heart-warming scenes from daily life. Plus the Bay City Rollers, Vesta curries, working with your daughter, performing in a prison and that wonderful moment when you forget that you've stabbed someone. Some truly incredible stories from this brilliantly funny, mildly terrifying, but ultimately rather lovely woman.
