Younger listeners will be stunned(!) to know that the BBC used to have quite and anti-Celtic stance and coverage. Under the authority of Peter Thompson, they really didn't seem to like Celtic at all. Under Thompson, BBC Scotland's Sports Department employed a sectarian recruitment policy akin to Rangers. Prejudice seeped into every aspect of BBC Sport coverage in Scotland but Jock Stein would have none of it.Here's the story. For more on our history go to https://www.thecelticwiki.com/Enjoy… This is a public episode. Real estate agents are among the businesses feeling more upbeat. The Herald's latest Mood of the Boardroom survey shows that business owners are more optimistic than pessimistic about their industries, as well as the local and global economy. Optimism varies across the different sectors, with the real estate industry topped the list with an average score of 4.33/5, a substantial jump from last year's 2.60/5. Barfoot & Thompson managing director Peter Thompson told Kerre Woodham that what businesses needed was good news, and that's what came out of today's conference. He said that they're already starting to see people come back to their auction rooms, and looking back at the last few months, they've seen a big uplift in the number of listings on the market and sales being made. The Better Public Media trust says online giants' turnover should be taxed and ringfenced to fund news. The Government's flipped from opposing the Fair Digital News Bargaining Bill, which started under Labour, to now supporting it - saying on balance, it's worth doing. The Bill would encourage companies such as Meta, which owns Facebook, and Google to negotiate with local media outlets to pay for their news content. After Canada introduced a similar law in 2023, Meta blocked news content from appearing on Facebook there. Meta has also said it plans to stop paying Australian media companies for news. Better Public Media's Peter Thompson spoke to Corin Dann.

Its Podcast time again, this episode I've stepped aside from the usual format to get a deep dive into the world of paint brushes. My guest is Peter Thompson, the head honcho at Pro Arte a company based in my favourite place in the world, Skipton. We had a lovely chat covering the history of the company before moving on and discussing the finer points (pun intended) of the brush making world. From brush types, to materials, to handles, to brush care, its all there. Its important for me to step slightly outside the Wargaming World and have guests who can enlighten us on aspects that maybe sit just outside our hobby yet still have a big influence on it, I hope you enjoy it. The main Pro Arte website detailing the full range of brushes is here, Pro Arte UK Artist Paint Brush Makers | Watercolour, Acytlic Oil Painting Recently a company called ABC Brushes has started to attend UK Wargames shows selling some Pro Arte brushes so you should be able to pick some up there. ABC Brushes My next episode will be with the Big Game rule writer, Dave Brown. Until then, Sithee Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer
Welcome to Episode 47 of the Podcast and this time we take a look at one of my favourite Wargaming niches, that is Naval Wargaming. And to help me on that journey I have press ganged David Manley to guide us through a minefield of turning circles, broadside markers and wind gauges. David has been involved in Naval Wargaming most of his life, inspired by his fathers service in The Royal Navy in WW2, he has gone on to a career in Naval Ship design and currently uses wargaming within his course content at UCL. If its Ancient Galleys, Ships of the Line, Pre and Post Dreadnoughts or Nuclear Powered Carriers, David has written a set of rules for them or desigend a 3d ship for them so who better to help us get our feet wet. David's rules and 3d ships can be found on the link below, https://www.wargamevault.com/browse.php?author=David%20Manley Sit back and enjoy our chat about all things Naval. The next episode will be out in 10 days, its already recorded. I will be speaking with Peter Thompson who is the owner of Pro Arte, The manufacturer and supplier of paint brushes to Yarkshire Gamer (and a few others !) for over 40 years. Until then, Sithee Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer

There are still concerns about the planned public media shake-up - even among supporters - despite a Select Committee process to strengthen the bill. MPs have made several recommendations in a report on the bill, which if passed, would merge RNZ and TVNZ into one entity. It states the bill in its current form doesn't do enough to protect the entity's editorial independence. Advocacy group Better Public Media trustee Dr Peter Thompson spoke to Guyon Espiner.
Today we are joined on the Brain Booster again with my good friend and fellow author from the ‘Lost Art' series, Gary Nicol. Gary has a huge wealth of coaching experience at all levels of the game from Ryder Cup stars to club players. He is based at the wonderful Archerfield Links on the East Coast of Scotland. Together with Gary over the past four years we have written 3 books ‘The Lost Art of Putting', ‘The Lost Art of Playing Golf' and ‘The Lost Art of the Short Game' The response to the books has been nothing short of incredible. So many players have got in touch with us to say the books have given them a new lease of golfing life. In today's wonderful conversation we go in to detail about how we can become better at coaching others and perhaps more importantly OURSELVES. Why much of the current coaching methods are ineffective Why we need to get better at asking good QUESTIONS instead of pretending to have all the answers The crucial role of INTENTION, ATTENTION and ATTITUDE and how you can build your whole season around these 3 words The value of problem solving The best way to use technology The difference between hitting ‘balls' and playing ‘shots' The great Peter Thompson's formula for success and how it could help you win YOUR major championship How we can become so much more in tune with the GOLF COURSE and the questions it is asking you How to play the ACCUMULATION game instead of the AVOIDANCE game and what a difference it can make to your mental game approach How would you be if TODAY was your last round of golf? What approach would you have? The myth of ‘owning a score' whilst you are out on the course A re confirmation of the value of GRATITUDE A really wonderful conversation with a VERY experienced and knowledgeable coach who is smart enough to keep the game SIMPLE To find out more about Gary and his coaching go to https://tpegs.com To get a copy of the new ‘Neuro Putting' program with Dr Izzy Justice and Karl Morris go to https://themindfactor.net/shop-new/

It does not matter if you hate or love BIM, does not matter if you use it daily or have no idea what it is... Building Information Modelling will be an important part of our engineering future and we better get used to it. In this episode, I talk to Peter Thompson of GHD, who had previously worked at Autodesk as a Revit developer, and prof. Ruggiero Lovreglio, a teacher of computer methods in design at Massey University. Having two experts - one a developer, and the other a user of BIM I try to get balanced answers on what BIM means for Fire Safety Engineering and how will it impact our future. And I must say I am surprised by the answers - I was pretty sure we will spend an hour talking about issues with transferring the models, but after this talk, this whole BIM environment seems like a pretty good idea!I hope you will also enjoy this journey through the near and a bit future of BIM technology. Looking forward to hear back from you about your BIM journeys, thoughts and ideas on how make this the technology of the future FSE.
Touch is our first sensation. It's a universal language. And it's a capacity we all have that can be used to restore health and nurture life. Hands may not be represented in the Ancient Chinese symbol for listen 聽, ting. But as practitioners of East Asian medicine, we need to understand the importance of listening with our hands, of tapping into the power of intentional touch, and contacting our patients with awareness. Listening with the hands is the foundation of Sotai, Tuina, Shiatsu, and other bodywork modalities. In this conversation with Bob Quinn, we touch on the use of Yin Sotai as a gentle method of bodywork, including its foundational principles and the implementation of the treatment in the clinic. Bob also highlights the influence of mentor Peter Thompson, the connection of Yin Sotai and Jeffrey Dann's Koshi balancing protocol, the legacy of Dr. Hashimoto, and the philosophical genius of Buckminster Fuller. Listen into this discussion on the influences, principles, and clinical application of Yin Sotai, which is a unique contribution by Bob Quinn on the technique founded by Dr. Keizo Hashimoto.
