The Chaos Dwarfs rule an empire in the blasted Dark Lands to the east of the Old World. They worship Hashut, the Father of Darkness.During the time of the northward Dwarf migration (-4300 IC) into the Worlds Edge Mountains, some Dwarfs travelled east across the plateau of Zorn Uzkull - the Great Skull Land - in their quest for precious ores and gems, reaching the dismal Mountains of Mourn. Then, during the Coming of Chaos (-4000 IC), these Dwarfs were cut off from the rest of Dwarf civilisation by swirling Chaos energies and rampaging legions of Daemons. The rest of the Dwarfs assumed they had perished in the deluge of Chaos. In reality, the hardy Dwarfs were not killed but neither had they remained unchanged by Chaos. [1a][4a]Eventually even these stubborn Dwarfs succumbed to the warping effects of the Chaos energies, gradually becoming the perverted and cynical mockery of traditional Dwarfs. Some of their number even became hideous mutated fusion of Dwarf and bull - the Bull Centaurs. Abandoned by their Ancestor Gods, the Chaos Dwarfs cried out for salvation and a dark voice answered: the Chaos entity Hashut, the father of darkness.Following Hashut, the eastern Dwarfen society started down a dark path and they became the Chaos Dwarfs at around -3500 IC whilst the great citadel of Mingol Zharr Naggrund - The Great City of Fire and Desolation is created by powerful sorcerers from black iron and obsidian in -2700 IC. The Orc and Goblin tribes of the Dark Lands and Mountains of Mourn are enslaved a hundred years later.Support the show

Join us as we take a deep, despair-filled dive into Hades, where souls are currency, mercenary fiends run the economy, and even the afterlife has worse working conditions than your last job! The discussion covers the different layers, known as glooms, and the City of the Dead, a pivotal location where souls face judgment. The hosts shed light on the Yugaloths, their mercenary nature, and their role in the cosmic structure of the Blood War. The conversation also delves into the eerie nature of Nighthags, their trade in larvae, and the unique existence of daemons in Abaddon. Key locations such as the Wall of the Faithless and the town of Death of Innocence are examined, providing insight into the philosophical and mechanical aspects of these realms. Additionally, the hosts explore Hecate's magical domain, the haunting town of Hopeless, and the nightmares that manifest in physical form. The discussion concludes with an analysis of puzzles and riddles in RPG gameplay, offering tips on how to create engaging and balanced challenges for players. Key Takeaways: Hades and Its Structure: Hades is a bleak yet complex plane, often misrepresented as merely another version of hell. The City of the Dead serves as a place of judgment for mortal souls. Hades consists of multiple layers called glooms, each intensifying in despair. Mortal souls function as currency, reinforcing the grim nature of the plane. The front lines of the Blood War are located in Oinos, the first gloom. The realm imposes exhaustion on visitors, adding a challenging survival element. Portals to Hades are difficult to access and often heavily guarded. Yugaloths and Their Role: Yugaloths are mercenary fiends operating within Hades and other planes. Their hierarchy ranges from lesser to greater forms, each fulfilling specific roles. They embody the worst aspects of capitalism, prioritizing deals and self-interest. Arcana-loths are known for their knowledge but are notoriously untrustworthy. The design and nature of Yugaloths are chaotic, reflecting their unpredictable tendencies. Daemons and Abaddon: Abaddon, a desolate and ominous plane in Pathfinder, is home to daemons. Daemons are formed from the souls of evil mortals and have distinct thematic citadels. Demodans, originally a slave race, rebelled to carve out their own existence. Nighthags trade in larvae, using them in potions and dark dealings. Notable Locations and Lore: The Wall of the Faithless imprisons souls that did not choose a deity, sparking controversy. Death of Innocence is a unique town in Hades that resists the plane's apathy. Hecate's realm is shrouded in mystery and filled with magical elements. Corpus, a city made of living bodies, adds to the plane's disturbing aesthetics. Nightmares physically manifest on the Hill of Bones. The town of Hopeless is devoid of color and emotion, ruled by High Cardinal Thingle and his beholder army. Gameplay Insights: Riddles and puzzles can enhance gameplay but should be carefully balanced. Clear hints are essential to prevent frustration among players. Creativity and clarity are key when designing engaging riddles. The Wishless Well serves as a gateway to Hades, offering narrative opportunities. Imaginative settings and character development are crucial for compelling RPG storytelling. This episode provides a deep dive into the lore of Hades, Yugaloths, and related planes, offering both philosophical musings and practical gameplay insights. Whether crafting a campaign set in these dark realms or incorporating elements of their lore, RPG enthusiasts can gain valuable knowledge from this discussion.

Vigilus is a world situated within the Nachmund Gauntlet and one of the few passages through the Great Rift. As such, the planet has become strategically vital for the Imperium and has become a target for a wide number of its enemies. As part of the greater War of Beasts, Sangua Terra is under Chaos assault as Abaddon the Despoiler seeks to destroy both it and Vigilus to close the Nachmund Gauntlet. At least 2 companies of the Castellans of the Rift Chapter are fighting on the world. During the Nachmund Rift War, the planet became the linchpin of the new Imperial defensive network dubbed the Sanctus Wall.Due to successive Chaos invasions, Sangua Terra is presently a battle-scarred hellscape overrun by Daemons. Canoness Superior Junith Eruita has arrived on the planet to marshal its defenders.Support the show

Hello denizens of the warp! I am joined by the World No1 Daemon player in the ITC for a review of all 4 grotmas detachments that seriously change the game and prospects for all chaos players out there. These things are some of the best they gave us for Grotmas and I am willing to say, do more for Daemons than any other grotmas release (mostly because there are 4 of the thangs).Hope you enjoy the review!

Send us a Text Message.https://www.patreon.com/AdeptusRidiculoushttps://www.adeptusridiculous.com/https://twitter.com/AdRidiculoushttps://orchideight.com/collections/adeptus-ridiculousThe Nachmund Rift War is an ongoing conflict being waged by the Imperium in the Nachmund Sub-Sector.Closely connected to the War of Beasts and War of Nightmares on Vigilus, while the Fortress World itself continues to remain largely in Imperial hands the greater Nachmund Gauntlet finds itself besieged by the Forces of Chaos. At Sangua Terra, the Imperials sought to organize a defensive network collectively known as the Sanctus Wall. This consisted of systems that had previously served as Indomitus Crusade supply hubs which were quickly fortified in their own right. However, the stalemate would soon be broken, must to the shock of both sides. Abaddon's trusted lieutenant Haarken Worldclaimer arrived with a Black Legion army.Lord Admiral Prisca's force soon arrived at the Grakiliod Narrow, a location that Haarken's fleet could not bypass. Despite heavy losses, Prisca's fleet maintained enough momentum to break through Worldclaimer's formation and burst through it on the other side. As the ships broke through, they peeled off left and right, unleashing waves of attack craft as they attacked the rear of the Chaos fleet as it was changing position. After many hours of fighting, Haarken had reorganized his fleet in a jaw-like formation ready to close on the Imperials. With his final order, hundreds of ships bore down on the Imperial armada. The exhausted loyalist Space Marines onboard stood little chance and were overwhelmed. Despite a brave final stand, the Imperial fleet was eventually annihilated.Only a fraction of the Imperial fleet survived the battle to limp back to the Sanctus Wall. Prisca herself was thought dead, and her plan had achieved questionable results. The Imperial commanders at the Sanctus Wall were disturbed by reports of the scale of the incoming Chaos armada. Meanwhile, the Inquisition continued to battle cults and hidden agents of Chaos within the worlds of the Sanctus Wall itself. Indeed, Sangua Terra, linchpin of the Sanctus Wall, is currently under mass invasion by Daemons.Support the Show.

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Pantheon Interface, published by NicholasKees on July 8, 2024 on LessWrong. Pantheon is an experimental LLM interface exploring a different type of human-AI interaction. We created this as a part of the cyborgism project, with the abstract motivation of augmenting the human ability to think by integrating human and AI generated thoughts. How it works: 1. A human user "thinks out loud" by typing out their thoughts one at a time. This leaves a text trace of their stream of thought. 2. AI characters (called daemons) read this trace, and interact with the user by responding asynchronously with comments and questions. The core distinguishing philosophy is that, while most apps are about a human prompting an AI to do useful mental work, Pantheon is the opposite. Here, AI does the prompting, and the goal is for the AI generated questions or comments to cause the human user to think in ways they would not have on their own. At worst, the app is a rubber duck. At best, the app is a court of advisors, each using their own unique skills to push you to think your best thoughts. Pantheon can be found at pantheon.chat, and we would really appreciate any and all feedback you have. The app is set up for you to customize your own daemons. We have set up some default daemons to provide inspiration, but we expect the tool to be a lot more useful when they are customized to specific users. If the default daemons don't feel useful, we highly encourage you to try to make your own. How do I use Pantheon? First, go to settings and provide an OpenAI API key. Next, begin typing out your thoughts on some topic. It helps to keep each thought relatively short, sending them to the stream of thought as often as you can. This gives the daemons lots of opportunities to interject and offer their comments. Furthermore, it's usually best to treat this more like a diary or personal notes, rather than as a conversation. In this spirit, it's better not to wait for them to respond, but to instead continue your train of thought, keeping your focus on your own writing. What do the daemons see? Your stream of thought appears in the interface as a chain of individual thoughts. Daemons are called to respond to specific thoughts. When they do, they are given access to all preceding thoughts in the chain, up to and including the thought they were called to. Daemons can only see text the user has written, and they can't see any of the comments made by themselves or other daemons. We are looking into ways to give the daemons access to their own comment history, but we have not yet made this possible. After a daemon generates a comment, you can inspect the full chain of thought by clicking on that comment. This will open up a window which will show you everything the LLM saw in the process of generating that response. You can also edit the daemons in settings, as well as toggle them on or off. Trees, branching, and sections The text in the interface appears to you as a chain of thoughts, but it is actually a tree. If you hover over a thought, a plus icon will appear. If you click this icon, you can branch the chain. This is often useful if you feel that you have gone down a dead end, or would like to explore a tangent. When there are multiple branches, arrows will appear next to their parent thought, and you can use those arrows to navigate the tree. If you would like a fresh context, you can make an entirely new tree by opening the "Collection view" in the top left. Furthermore, you can also create a new "section" by clicking the "New Section" button below the input box. This will create a hard section break such that daemons can no longer see any context which came before the break. How do I save my progress? Everything you do is automatically saved in local storage. You can also import/export the full app state i...

We travel through the hidden mythologies of Eurasia to discover Daemons lurking in the shadows, capturing children, and seeing off evil sorcerers. Our Daemonolgist this week is the author of ‘Daemons are Forever' David Gordon White. This week: Daemons made from faeces, Tantra's place in India, Dangerous Pools, Changelings, and much more. Main theme by Simon Smerdon (Mothboy) Music bed by chriszabriskie.com Get David's book here:UK – https://amzn.to/4brXJFL US – https://amzn.to/3zb3gTt David Gordon White Bio: Since being named the J. F. Rowny Professor of Comparative Religion in 2011, I have returned to the focus of my PhD dissertation and first book, Myths of the Dog-Man (Chicago: 1991). While that project focused on the spread of the mytheme of a particular monstrous race across ancient and medieval Asia and Europe, my current interest concerns contacts and exchanges in matters of demonology. Unbound as they are by exclusivist doctrinal and institutional strictures,, demons have traveled more lightly than gods, and so it is that one finds the names of Buddhist demons in medieval Manichean spell texts, charms against Iranian demons in Lithuanian and Chinese sources, an amulet of an Indian demoness at an archeological site in Turkmenistan, and so on. Elsewhere, the yoginis and dakinis of South and East Asian Hinduism and Buddhism are found to be related to the striga of ancient Rome and the vampires of early modern eastern Europe; the tenth-century BCE Homeric myth of Odysseus and Circe reappears, only slightly altered, in the Mahavamsa, a fifth-century CE chronicle of the island of Ceylon; and the nightmares of European lore find their homologues in the maras of South Asia and the Chinese “devil-kings” called mo-wang. It is the “connected histories” of these beings and the humans who trafficked in them that have become my area of focus. Both the Silk Road and ancient and medieval maritime trade routes were information superhighways, and a portion of that information was demonological. It is easy to imagine soldiers, sailors, merchants, diviners, monks, and priests swapping amulets and spells at Silk Road halting points and ports. Demons and the techniques to control them were as much a commodity in the ancient and medieval world as germs, guns, and steel. Source – https://www.religion.ucsb.edu/people/faculty/david-white/

The One True Armour is a suit of Power Armour commonly seen worn by the Emperor during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.Always depicted as golden, after his wounding by Horus during the Siege of Terra it is said that the Emperor's armour was removed and melted down at his own order in order to create badges to honour the Imperial Fists Terminators that had fought beside him.The Emperor's Sword is a giant flame-covered blade that the Emperor created by using both his mastery of science and Warpcraft.Due to the nature of its creation, the Sword is anathema to the forces of Chaos and only the most powerful of Daemons can resist being destroyed by its mere touch. The Emperor's Lightning Claw is an as of yet unnamed Lightning Claw that was usually seen on the Emperor's left hand during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. The Emperor's Bolter was a as-of-yet unnamed Boltgun which was a personal weapon of the Emperor. One of the very first Boltguns, it was a progenitor all for its kind. The Emperor's Shield was once the personal shield of the Emperor, but it is now being wielded by the reborn Primarch Lion El'Jonson in M42.The Apollonian Spear was crafted alongside its sister the Dionysian Spear by the Emperor's own hand, deep inside his first underground fortress on Terra during the Age of Strife.Support the show

Entwining the impossibilities of the warp and the reality of the physical realm, Daemon Worlds are not bound by the laws of physics, but by the whim of daemonic rulers and the emotions of mortals. The power of Daemons and Daemon Princes is greater in the Eye of Terror and other places like the Eye of Terror than it would be anywhere else in the galaxy.Support the show
On this episode we cover where the vast majority of the citizens of the Imperium live. In fact probably close to 90% of them live in Hive Cities. Are they good places to live? no, in fact might be the worst. Crime? yep. Daemons? yep. Roving bands of raiders and marauders under your feet? also yep. Not to mention corruption, disease, industrial accidents, and corpse starch. So hop in for a fun trip to an imperial hive city.
