In this episode, we break down CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE. — a rom-com that honestly has no business being this good. What starts as a typical relationship movie quickly turns into something way smarter, funnier, and more layered than you expect. We dive into how the film pulls off one of the most unexpected twists you'll ever see in a romantic comedy, completely reframing the story in a way that almost no one sees coming. We also talk about how Ryan Gosling delivers one of the funniest performances of his career, stealing scenes with perfect comedic timing while still bringing depth to his character. On top of that, we reveal some of the most interesting behind-the-scenes stories that make certain moments even better once you know how they were created. From the structure of the screenplay to the way all the storylines collide, this movie somehow balances chaos, comedy, and real emotion better than most films in the genre. This is one of those rare movies that overdelivers on every level — and we break down exactly why it works so well.Chapters:00:00 This movie has no business being this good4:15 Steve Carrell is too underrated11:33 The bachelor life actually sucks15:46 Emma Stone uncovered trauma on this set19:44 A rom-com like no other26:54 A comedy duo meant to be31:30 Where is the bar with new people every night33:01 They made this movie not knowing what it was called36:49 The real winners & losers of this movie41:54 The greatest moments in this movie48:00 The bar scenes were harder than you think51:16 Surprisingly good filmmaking choices53:54 A funny age difference on set57:24 Our official rating & final thoughts
Now that it's Spring and there's pollen in the air so you may want to hunker down indoors. And we've been doing just that. If you're into streaming series we've got a whle lot of new shows to tell you about as well as established shows that are starting new seasons. There's the "Handmaids Tale" sequel called "The Testaments" and "Rooster" which stars Steve Carrell as a college professor. And we look at the new (and final) season of "Hacks" plus "Your Friends and Neighbors." As for movies, we'll tell you about "Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice" which stars Vince Vaughn as well as "Pizza Movie" which has one of the "Stranger Things" kids in it and "Fantasy Life" which is a little Indie movie with a surprisingly great cast. Then Neil Rosen fills us in on some Broadway and Off-Broadways shows he's seen like "Death of a Salesman," "Dog Day Afternoon" and "Gotta Dance." We've got a whole lot of other stuff too like Taylor Tomlinson's new Netflix special "Prodigal Daughter" and what the hell CBS is doing to its late night lineup. So listen in!

LA SPINZ April 6, 2026 – Final Sequence Segment 1: Paul McCartney performed 2 nights at the relatively small 1200 capacity Fonda Theater in Hollywood and the place was jammed with celebrities. Who LET ‘EM IN? Segment 2: To convince people to eat snacks with spicy gherkin flavor, the folks at Frito Lay hired an ODD pair to pitch their latest product. Megan Thee Stallion and Nickelback have collaborated on a new music video that mixes winking humor, special effects and a remake of the band's 2001 hit “How You Remind Me.” My stomach is ALREADY feeling SOUR. Segment 3: Blackpink's Lisa announced a Las Vegas residency at the Coliseum at Caesar's Palace. She is the first KPOP artist to have a residency in Vegas. While Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé are off doing other things, Lisa will be performing there in November. The residency is called “Viva La Lisa.” But will the price of a ticket be 1/4th of a Blackpink ticket? Segment 4: Long running quiz show “Jeopardy” will be spinning off to You Tube later this month. It will start with an episode hosted by Ken Jennings, with contestants from the YouTube creator world: Monét X Change, Rebecca Black and Brennan Lee Mulligan. Segment 6: Dead Or Alive: Sandra Bullock is best known for the films “Speed”, “The Blind Side” “Gravity” and most recently, “Bird Box.” Dead Or Alive? ALIVE. Segment 7: “The Madison” scored the biggest first season launch that a Taylor Sheridan series has ever seen. Following its debut, which saw its first three episodes launch on Paramount+, “The Madison” tallied up 8 million views in its first ten days. The series, which stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, also SCORED BIG with women over 35…much like Russell. Segment 8: Comedian Bill Maher confessed he took no issue with Donald Trump's attempt to block his Kennedy Center honor, noting he was happy to “keep the game going” with the president. Yep, a week after The White House calling it “fake news”, they DID announce Maher WOULD receive the 2026 Mark Twain Prize for American humor. Yep, just another TACO. Segment 9: “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” star Glen Powell is voicing Fox McCloud, the surprise Nintendo character joining the Mario Bros. Yep, Woods specialty is ROLLOVER accidents. IDIOT! Segment 11: CBS has cancelled the series “Watson' after 2 seasons, and also canceled the comedy “DMV” after 1 season. Dead Walter Cronkite said…nothing. Segment 12: Russell Brand‘s trial on rape and sexual assault charges has been delayed. The trial, which will combine all seven charges that have been brought against the comedian and actor in the last year, was originally set to begin in London on June 16th but will now begin on Oct. 12th. It is expected to last up to two SALACIOUS months. Loser. Segment 13: The teaser trailer for HBO’s Harry Potter series shattered records, amassing over 277 million views in its first 48 hours. The debut teaser more than doubled the previous record for the most-watched trailer in HBO history, setting the stage for the series’ release on Christmas Day, 2026. WHICH will be here before you KNOW it. Uggh. Segment 14: The TV adaption of the Anne Rice novel “Talamasca: The Secret Order” has been canceled at AMC after just one season. The group's 82 date stadium tour kicks off this week in Seoul and includes 4 nights at L.A.'s SOFI STADIUM in September. The group's documentary, “BTS The Return”, is airing on Netflix. One piece of bad news – group member RM suffered a sprained ankle and ligament tear and only has limited movement. Other than that, the band is excited to perform live around the world, which will include several songs off the new album, like this one which we LOVE. Here's BTS with the Song Of The Week, “Swim.” That was BTS with the Song Of the Week, “Swim.” The post LA SPINZ – April 6 2026 appeared first on LA Spinz.

We have a Russell double bill this week as both Kurt and Wyatt join us on the pod to chat Monarch season 2 on Apple TV (33:38-54:47). Elsewhere, we're getting in trouble on campus both with Steve Carrell in Rooster on Sky Comedy (1:03:47) and with David Morrissey in Gone on ITV1 (1:28:19). All that and BBC1's The Capture makes a triumphant return to our screens for series 3 (1:17:41), plus we assemble a Mount Rushmore of TV composers, and there's an alarming amount of discussion about bums. What more could you possibly ask for? Oh and Boydy does talk a little about the latter eps of Industry and if you want to skip it then all that happens between 12:21 and 13:45.Note: time stamps are approximate as the ads throw them out, so are only meant as a guide. Over the 6 seasons of Pod Meets World, the gang has chatted with a number of different important contributors to the show. They’ve reunited with actors, directors, writers, and even body doubles. But now they’ve struck gold with a brand new perspective: that of a TGIF network executive. David Brownfield was a trusted liaison for BMW at ABC, so boy, do we have a LOT of questions. Was the show always on the bubble? Why did it eventually get cancelled? What happened to Minkus? How do you tell a showrunner they’re not coming back? And how in the world did he ever transition from suit to creative? Plus, we hear stories of working with TV legends like Steve Carrell and Dick Wolf [DUN DUN]! This, and more, on a new decision-making episode of Pod Meets World!! Follow @podmeetsworldshow on Instagram and TikTok!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
