When this week's guest, Minneapolis-based writer and drummer David Jarnstrom, was tasked with choosing a record to discuss, he surprisingly went with something both relatively obscure AND near-and-dear to Rob's heart: the 1990 debut - and sole full-length record - by criminally unsung Miami pop-punk heroes Quit, 'Earlier Thoughts'. Go figure! Songs discussed in this episode: Intro - Quit:Live at Churchill's Pub Goodtastic Films Video Excerpt; Run It Out - Rad Owl; VANNEN, the friend - John Snodgrass; Drive Away - Gratitude; Dine Alone - Quicksand; Defy, All The Same, Changes, Could Be Wrong, Remember, Feeling OK, Dedication - Quit; Fixed - The Holy Terrors; Me For Me, Waiting - Quit; Everything & You - Lightworkers; Shepherd's Pie, Did You See, Billness, Quit - Quit; Quiet While You're Ahead - Rad Owl

We hate to throw around the phrase 'criminally unheralded', but it sure does seem to fit San Francisco slowcore pioneers American Music Club and lead singer/songwriter Mark Eitzel. This week's guest, DAGGERzine creator Tim Hinely, brings us their 2nd album, 'Engine'. Warning: Eitzel's poignant, devastatingly raw songs will get under your skin and fester. Beautifully. Rat Bastard is the major instigator of the Miami noise scene. He is a purported to be a member of not only the legendary To Live and Shave in LA, but also a member of TLSLA 2,3,4 & 5. For decades, Rat has also recorded and booked bands in Miami. In his home studio, he's recorded everyone from Marilyn Manson to Blowfly.
Ross and Dylan are back with the topics of Muppets, calling your brother a bastard, unions, and everything else under the sun.
The Tailgate is at it again, albeit sans Ty as he and his lovely bride, Dawn, are looking at homes for themselves and little Archie to settle into. But Aaron and Duncan are holding it down, and we've got some breakdowns and pick'ems for this weekend's NFL matchups, as well as each of our Super Bowl predictions(Ty gave his picks beforehand, so we've got his too!). We touched on some of the games from last weekend's college football action, as our teams, Iowa, Michigan and Kansas State each had statement wins to start the season. We were happy to revisit a bit from last year and mix it in with a newer segment as That Rat Bastard, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly, found himself "Thrown On The Grill" for his boneheaded and forced attempt to recreate a classic quote by John McKay to explain how he felt about his team's performance. To finish off, we toasted former UCF QB McKenzie Milton for coming back from a devastating and potentially career-ending knee injury and playing snaps down the stretch for Florida State in their loss to Notre Dame, as well as a toast to Kelby Telander, who was an Iowa kid captain over a decade ago as his family sought a Cochlear implant so he could hear again, to now being in uniform for the Hawkeyes on Saturdays as a preferred walk-on.Apple: https://apple.co/2QCEVQrGoogle: https://bit.ly/3gJxyScSpotify: https://spoti.fi/32V8vDATwitter: @TailgateKCPN

When Miami comedian/drag queen Shelley Novak (aka Tommy Strangie) was navigating the early-80s as a gay teen in Saugus, MA, no performer loomed larger as an icon and roadmap towards the future than Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. We convened at the secret lair of South Beach noise impresario Rat Bastard and took a deep-dive into their often-maligned sophomore record Pretenders II. Along the way Shelley references Gloria Estefan, Judd Hirsch, Kate Bush, Timothee Chalamet and more as we desperately try to keep up. This episode is rated FABULOUS!

Our employers Gary Carlton and Anika Olajimbo hired a man to replace Edgar, named "Better Edgar." When he joins Dan and Holly his true identity is revealed as the God Emperor Rat Bastard, who disguised himself in a sombrero and pancho. Rat has returned to seek vengence. By the God Emperor's decree, ChongaTron's format is changed to a comedic advice show... Even though Rat wants to castrate Dan, the gang agrees he is still better than Edgar.Copyright Disclaimer under section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research. Dan and Holly hold an intervention for Edgar about his obsession with bad word. wrong-think no-no talk. Then Edgar accidentally invokes the name of Rat Bastard. Who rises from the dead in search of vengence on all of Chonga.
this week on the ugly couch we have Miami music royalty !! the founder of the International noise conference - punk rock star and Miami icon musician Rat Bastard - we talk about hot music , over cold scotch sit back and listen to this living legend talk about his life from baby rat to full on bastard - ENJOY !
All Hail Rat Bastard. The Rat is Holy. The Penis is Evil. We are Rat.Our management forces us to say that. We are contractually obligated to say that. Due to the immense success of Rat Bastard on the podcast Rat is elevated to his proper place amongst the populi, the God Emperor of ChongaTron. Now our entire reality is manifested through Rat.We are stuck in an illusion, a simulation, a black iron prison... And we were placed here by a nefarious demiurge. How will Danny, Edgar and Holly find their way out? THE EMPIRE NEVER ENDED. Also Edgar is back.
Part two of Rat Bastard. Very little Holly (me) in the second part of this one. Maybe you like the idea of that and maybe you don't. Either way, 9/11 was an inside job. This one is more of a hang out.Twitter: @chongatronchongatronpodcast@gmail.comCashapp: hp4420
Another week of Third Watch goodness as we move into the 10th episode of the 6th season Rat Bastard. Can we actually do this episode in 30 minutes? How slow does the news work in the NYPD in 2004? Is there a little too much casual racism in this episode? How do the interesting storylines fall really flat this week? Is there another unnecessary cliffhanger this episode? And why do we have so little to talk about in this introduction that we're going to end this right here? It's our shortest ever recap of Third Watch and you'll soon find out why! So tune in!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
In part one of a very special ChongaTron: We invite Rat, our one fan, onto the podcast for an interview. Like the most popular podcasts, we bend like a reed in the wind, allowing our fans to dictate what opinions and beliefs we hold. Dan continues to become Archie Bunker. We abuse our one fan for being a proud Cherokee warrior. Holly gets treated for hysteria by a holistic gynecologist. Holly becomes a riotgrrl and is empowered by her B.P.F. Rat gets molested by patients in a nursing home. And all the success of having one fan goes to Dan's head and he gets consumed by paranoia that the feds are after him. Finally, Rat tells a story about his inbred father killing a cowboy. Edgar is gone for the week because he's doing Mexican things.Twitter: @chongatronchongatronpodcast@gmail.comCashapp: hp4420

His 2005 release A Divided House is what Rat wanted to focus on, and we manage to focus, a little, in between phone calls and ribald stories. Apologies to Mark Edwards for another round of armchair psychoanalysis by the TRGMH peanut gallery. This one was, indeed, a lot of fun.
