In this episode we explore inner thoughts that affect work performance and relationships. Angela: Today, we dive deeper into understanding the thoughts circulating in the modern workplace and the pandemic and conflict with working at home. Angela: What are some of the sabotaging thoughts you have been exposed to in the workplace? There's probably a long list - so maybe the ones common to many people first. Patti: How about thoughts of comparing your abilities to your coworker's strengths, or wanting to control outcomes, fear of rejection, or fear of failure, and the feelings that your manager has favoritism towards a coworker over you. These thoughts can sabotage your performance at work and can overtake you with fear and overwhelm. Angela: There is a move to having people from work from home. How does this change the way some are performing at work? What makes some people love it while others hate it? Patti: Since working at home, some have realized how much the work environment has caused havoc to their physical and mental state and given them space to reflect on what they want in life, and it may not be this workplace or career. For some, they liked working alone; it's non-stressful dealing with other personalities and communication styles. Angela: When the inner thoughts about work are not working well, what are some things you can suggest to help people get clear on their thoughts to make things better? Patti: Recite positive affirmations to eliminate any negative thoughts about work. I'm sure you have seen those funny work memes. There is one where someone is sitting at their desk repeating this affirmation. "I love my job!" over and over again. Reciting a prayer - something like this: Dear God, please help and encourage me today to have a positive attitude towards my job, work performance, and the people I work with and have a good day at work. Thank you, AMEN! Listen to uplifting music. Journal how you are feeling. Go for a walk. Focus on work tasks. Remember - What you want in your life and remove the thoughts of what you don't. Set goals of how you are going to change your situation at work and put them into action. Angela: In Australia, in lockdowns, Parents who work at home have more expectations to do everything, homeschool, parent, and work - and it's too much. Does something have to give with the way corporations or organizations approach work? The rising stress of parents is not healthy for society. This episode has given us a lot to think about in our relationships at work. What are you hoping to see in exchange?(9:12) Let’s begin by talking to the parents who have toddlers, what is a conversation pattern they can establish to show their children they are the loving authority on the topic of their bodies?(13:36) What are some key conversations and general language parents can practice with their elementary age children?(19:11) The average age someone first sees pornography is 11 yo and are as likely to see it accidentally as on purpose.  How do you encourage parents to deal with discussing pornography with their children?(27:20) For parents of middle and high school age children (or really all young parents), talking about masturbation and puberty feels daunting. How do you encourage parents to address this topic?(32:30) Birds & Bees offers a curriculum. What can one expect if they use your curriculum?(36:15) Do you have any encouragement for the parent who feels like they are “behind” or have failed to create an open dialogue surrounding sex and our bodies?(39:38) Lastly, what are some books and other resources you would recommend to parents on this topic?Quotes to Remember:“What is the main thing you want your children to know about sex? If they’re growing up in your family? If you could give that answer in one sentence? What would that sentence be?”SHOW NOTES cont.Related Episodes:71: Krista Boan | Tips For Parents In The Digital Age54: Nick Stumbo | Discovering Freedom From Pornography90: Hillary Morgan Ferrer | Empowering Kids to Challenge Cultural LiesEpisode Sponsor:Heather M. This is going to be a cool episode of Live Your Dreams Awake as we bring back one of the most listened interviews over my Wise Women Summit, the interview I had with another incredible Irish woman, a mystic, a healer, a Shaman and perhaps the first to bring the Celtic calendar and Celtic wisdom into light in Ireland. She is the author of the best selling book, Ever Ancient Ever New: Celtic Spirituality in the 21st Century, which brings to light a new way for humankind to be in the world. I am talking about Dolores Whelan, who has been teaching people spiritual awareness based on the Creation Centered Spirituality. Be inspired by her journey of awakening and learn the value of profound spiritual tradition that is within our DNA. Relive the inspiration from this episode, enjoy! REMEMBER - "What we can plan is too small for us to live." This week's Feng Shui tip on how to call in all your dreams and desires into your life. Put your dreams down in paper and write them in the present tense as if it is happening already in your life. For example: I am grateful for my loving relationship or I am grateful for the exotic travel and places I have been to. Make those intentions as specific as can be. Place the paper of your affirmations in an envelope and place it underneath your bed mattress. You will be able to tune in to those dreams into reality. HIGHLIGHTS OF WHAT WE COVER DURING THIS EPISODE: Dolores’ light bulb moment and her journey to find what’s missing in her life. What is Creation Centered Spirituality? The Study of the Celtic Calendar, the eight seasons which are initiated by festivals, e.g. Winter Solstice, Summer Equinox. Do you know that four of the festivals are feminine and the other four are masculine? (...that the balance of feminine and masculine energy was woven into the very fabric of life?)   Why is the Samhain festival the most important festival of the year? Why is it important to accept the Samhain energy in the phase of our lives? Love of self can mean being non-doing or non-productive and the realization that we are part of the natural rhythm.   LINKS & RESOURCES: Ever Ancient Ever New: Celtic Spirituality in the 21st Century by Dolores Whelan Free meditation guide to step into success   CONNECT WITH DOLORES WHELAN: Website   CONNECT WITH ME Website Facebook

I hope so, because this is something we are all guilty of. Yep—today on the show, we’re talking about how to know where you need to grow. And then I get to sit down with my good friend and bestselling author Ian Cron to learn about the Enneagram and how you can understand your weaknesses and what you need to work on.   What You Don’t Know Can’t Hurt You We all have blind spots, don’t we? When we start to look at the blind spots in our lives, we open up so many opportunities for growth. It’s not a fun process, but it’s an opportunity to grow in maturity, wisdom and faith. But we can’t grow and mature if we don’t know the areas where we need to grow and mature. So today, we’re going to talk about three tips that will help you identify your blind spots and areas you need to grow in so you can become the person you were created to be.   Let’s Talk About the Enneagram with Ian Cron Have you ever thought about your motivations in life? Your motivations are rooted in your personality traits. Ian Cron, bestselling author of the popular Enneagram book The Road Back to You, joins me today to discuss how you can use the Enneagram to identify your blind spots. Ian and I also talk about how important self-awareness is for growth.   Are You Ready to Be a Better Person? Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. — James 1:2–4 (NIV) When I’ve gone through “wilderness” seasons, I remember feeling like I was far from God and even forgotten by Him. I don't know if you're in a season of feeling like everything is wrong and you're just looking for the emergency exit. If you're feeling like that, I hear you. And I've been there. But I also want to encourage you: Something might be happening right now in the valley that is going to produce fruit in your life. And even though you can’t see it right now, you might be closer to God than you ever imagined—even if it doesn’t feel like it. So, I want to give you some journal questions to think about and reflect on regardless of what season of life you might be in: What areas of your life do you need to grow in? How does it feel to think about your weaknesses? Now that you’ve identified where you need to grow, what are you going to do about it?

Get your livestream ticket today. https://bit.ly/3l4csh2   In today’s world, it can be so difficult to make decisions because we don’t know what’s true. In this episode, we’ll talk about what keeps us from remembering the truth and how to cut through misinformation and the lies we tell ourselves. I also sit down with Nashville-based singer-songwriter Ellie Holcomb to talk about her new children’s book, Don’t Forget to Remember. Then, I’ll give you some questions as you process this idea of remembering what’s true.   Has Fear and Misinformation Taken Over? Let’s Change That! When we don’t know what’s true, it can be hard to make the best decisions for ourselves and our families. On top of that, there are many things that can make it difficult to even discern what’s true, like our own fear or the unlimited misinformation we have at our fingertips. Often, we even make up our own false narratives and tell ourselves things like, I’m always going to be a failure. I’m not smart. I’m not going to amount to anything. Y’all, it’s so important to identify the things that can cloud our judgement and keep us from the truth. Because when we can identify them, we can cut through them and get back to the one source of truth, which is the truth that’s found in God’s Word.   Why It’s Important to Remember What’s True With Ellie Holcomb I sit down with my friend and Nashville-based singer-songwriter Ellie Holcomb to talk about her new children’s book, Don’t Forget to Remember. As a mom, there are many things that you have to remind your kids to do, like wash your hands and be kind. But it’s also important to remind our kids (and ourselves!) the truth that we’re loved by a God who made us on purpose for a purpose. In this episode, we talk about: Why it’s important to remember what’s true How to cut through misinformation and the lies we tell ourselves How to anchor ourselves to one source of truth   This word is in the Bible over 150 times. (Do you know what it is?) “Remember the Lord your God . . .” This is in Deuteronomy again and again. If God says something over and over again, it’s probably because He knows we’re going to forget. The truth is, the real root of what’s going on when I’m scared and worried is that I’ve forgotten that God is good and faithful and loves me. Here are some questions to ask yourself as you process the importance of remembering the Lord your God: What are times when God has been faithful in the past? What are truths you can build your life on? Where do you need God to be faithful?

Develop Your B2B Brand Personality Traits in 5 Days

Differentiating yourself in the market is a process, much like a high school grad going to college to find himself. Luckily, you're a business, not an Adventure Education major (yeah, that's a thing), and we don't need a year, months or even weeks to get to the bottom of this. Let's talk about how we can get to 5 brand personality traits in as little as 5 days. Most brands already have a personality, but without a formal process of realizing it, you don't know how to live it out. Likely, you already have places where it comes out. And people like it. But because you don't want to alienate yourself or embarrass anyone, you hide your brand personality. Your Process to Define 5 Brand Personality Traits in 5 Days So let's get to it. The goal of this article is to give you an example process, so it'll be easy to do it on your own or manage the process effectively if you hire it out. More formally, the goal: create and develop a list of 3-5 brand personality traits that can be translated into your communication, making you super-interesting to your ideal target audience. Why should you care? Because when you're considering working with someone, you want to work with people who think for themselves, who fulfill their promises and have some kind of sense of humor. People who get things and just seem to understand what's going on around them. Don't you? Just Imagine I might be a little Archie-Bunkerish when it comes to John Lennon, but let's take a page out of his book anyway. Let's imagine. What if you were that business that everybody wanted to work with? That business that gets it? The business that is just clever enough in its communication and just interesting enough to be followable? That brand that knows the difference between what the industry is obsessing over and what's actually important? In other words, for those who identify with your business and your way of doing things, what if you could be considered the best? Because when you're that brand, you have a point of view. You're telling them in economic hard times, they need to be thinking about today without ignoring the good times that are ahead. During a pandemic, when everyone's empathizing, you're the brand that says it's not okay to stay scared. During an economic downturn, when everyone's blaming, you're telling people to take responsibility, find hope and work hard. But you'll never do it if you're too shy, if you haven't developed your personality and built your business on it and clients who expect it. The Brand Personality Traits Process This process yields 3-5 personality traits that you can then formalize into a list of traits that guide how you communicate and even the kinds of products or services you make. Plan It Start by downloading the personality traits worksheet from Resound. Schedule a time to get everyone together, ideally five of your most senior people, and go through the worksheet together. Section 1 Go through the section "Which most closely represents your brand and why?" and make sure to talk about why you chose what you chose. For instance, you have a choice of sodas that represent your brand. But if you choose Fanta, that doesn't mean your brand is Fanta. Remember: WHAT you chose is less important than WHY you chose it. And it's your job now to talk about why you chose Fanta and why it represents you. Section 2 Choosing the words in the next step can feel like a lot of work. But you can make it go fast. Set a timer and make everybody move through them quickly. Don't think, just circle. As you pare things down to your final words, you'll be looking for between three and five of your top traits. Section 3 You'll take these traits and you'll say which ones are your current traits and which ones are your desired traits. Take your current traits and then turn them into sentences. Those sentences represent your brand personality traits and why. Section 4 Optionally,

When to Negotiate There is a relatively small window of opportunity to negotiate during the hiring process. It is between the time the company makes you a bona fide job offer and the time you accept that offer. Any earlier, and it's all hypothetical. And you may be shooting yourself in the foot by asking for more too early. Any later, and it's too late. The company isn't likely to give you more AFTER you've said yes. A bona fide job offer is typically in writing, or at least a formal verbal offer of employment. If you are unsure, you can ask “Are you officially offering me the position?” What are My Options? You have three options when a job offer is made: -Accept the offer as-is -Reject the offer -Negotiate the offer Should I Negotiate? If you are completely, totally happy with every aspect of the offer, then you don't have to negotiate. I highly recommend that you ask for a few days to a week to consider the offer before accepting. This gives you time to thoroughly evaluate the offer and keeps you from looking “desperate.”   When is “No” the Appropriate Response? -When you have already accepted another offer -When you know the company or job is in direct conflict with your values and career goals -When you know the salary or other aspects of the job don't mesh with your needs (i.e. doesn't pay enough for you to live on, extensive travel for a new mom) -When you hear or read considerable intel that the company is financially unstable, your prospective boss is very difficult to work for, or the work environment is toxic. NOTE: Always do this politely so you aren't burning your bridges. How do I Negotiate? Let's assume you are in the window for negotiations. If salary is the issue: -Research salaries for the same or similar jobs in the same geographic region -Send a letter of negotiation with a counter-proposal for your salary, and provide statistics from the research you've conducted Tips for negotiating from Harvard Business Review, written by Deepak Malhotra: Don't underestimate the importance of likability. “People are going to fight for you only if they like you. Anything you do in a negotiation that makes you less likable reduces the chances that the other side will work to get you a better offer. This is about more than being polite; it's about managing some inevitable tensions in negotiation, such as asking for what you deserve without seeming greedy, pointing out deficiencies in the offer without seeming petty, and being persistent without being a nuisance. Negotiators can typically avoid these pitfalls by evaluating how others are likely to perceive their approach.”   Help them understand why you deserve what you're requesting. “They also have to believe you're worth the offer you want. Never let your proposal speak for itself—always tell the story that goes with it. Don't just state your desire (a 15% higher salary, say, or permission to work from home one day a week); explain precisely why it's justified (the reasons you deserve more money than others they may have hired, or that your children come home from school early on Fridays). If you have no justification for a demand, it may be unwise to make it. Again, keep in mind the inherent tension between being likable and explaining why you deserve more: Suggesting that you're especially valuable can make you sound arrogant if you haven't thought through how best to communicate the message.” Make it clear they can get you. People won't want to expend political or social capital to get approval for a strong or improved offer if they suspect that at the end of the day, you're still going to say, “No, thanks.” If you intend to negotiate for a better package, make it clear that you're serious about working for this employer. If you're planning to mention all the options you have as leverage, you should balance that by saying why—or under what conditions—you would be happy to forgo those options and accept an offer. Understand the person across the table. Companies don't negotiate; people do. And before you can influence the person sitting opposite you, you have to understand her. For example, negotiating with a prospective boss is very different from negotiating with an HR representative. You can perhaps afford to pepper the latter with questions regarding details of the offer, but you don't want to annoy someone who may become your manager with seemingly petty demands. On the flip side, HR may be responsible for hiring 10 people and therefore reluctant to break precedent, whereas the boss, who will benefit more directly from your joining the company, may go to bat for you with a special request. Understand their constraints. They may like you. They may think you deserve everything you want. But they still may not give it to you. Why? Because they may have certain ironclad constraints, such as salary caps, that no amount of negotiation can loosen. Your job is to figure out where they're flexible and where they're not. If, for example, you're talking to a large company that's hiring 20 similar people at the same time, it probably can't give you a higher salary than everyone else. But it may be flexible on start dates, vacation time, and signing bonuses. On the other hand, if you're negotiating with a smaller company that has never hired someone in your role, there may be room to adjust the initial salary offer or job title but not other things. The better you understand the constraints, the more likely it is that you'll be able to propose options that solve both sides' problems. Be prepared for tough questions. Many job candidates have been hit with difficult questions they were hoping not to face: Do you have any other offers? If we make you an offer tomorrow, will you say yes? Are we your top choice? If you're unprepared, you might say something inelegantly evasive or, worse, untrue. My advice is to never lie in a negotiation. It frequently comes back to harm you, but even if it doesn't, it's unethical. The other risk is that, faced with a tough question, you may try too hard to please and end up losing leverage. The point is this: You need to prepare for questions and issues that would put you on the defensive, make you feel uncomfortable, or expose your weaknesses. Your goal is to answer honestly without looking like an unattractive candidate—and without giving up too much bargaining power. If you have thought in advance about how to answer difficult questions, you probably won't forfeit one of those objectives. Focus on the questioner's intent, not on the question. If, despite your preparation, someone comes at you from an angle you didn't expect, remember this simple rule: It's not the question that matters but the questioner's intent. Often the question is challenging but the questioner's intent is benign. An employer who asks whether you would immediately accept an offer tomorrow may simply be interested in knowing if you are genuinely excited about the job, not trying to box you into a corner. A question about whether you have other offers may be designed not to expose your weak alternatives but simply to learn what type of job search you're conducting and whether this company has a chance of getting you. If you don't like the question, don't assume the worst. Rather, answer in a way that addresses what you think is the intent, or ask for a clarification of the problem the interviewer is trying to solve. If you engage in a genuine conversation about what he's after, and show a willingness to help him resolve whatever issue he has, both of you will be better off. Consider the whole deal. Sadly, to many people, “negotiating a job offer” and “negotiating a salary” are synonymous. But much of your satisfaction from the job will come from other factors you can negotiate—perhaps even more easily than salary. Don't get fixated on money. Focus on the value of the entire deal: responsibilities, location, travel, flexibility in work hours, opportunities for growth and promotion, perks, support for continued education, and so forth. Think not just about how you're willing to be rewarded but also when. You may decide to chart a course that pays less handsomely now but will put you in a stronger position later. Negotiate multiple issues simultaneously, not serially. If someone makes you an offer and you're legitimately concerned about parts of it, you're usually better off proposing all your changes at once. Don't say, “The salary is a bit low. Could you do something about it?” and then, once she's worked on it, come back with “Thanks. Now here are two other things I'd like…” If you ask for only one thing initially, she may assume that getting it will make you ready to accept the offer (or at least to make a decision). If you keep saying “and one more thing…,” she is unlikely to remain in a generous or understanding mood. Furthermore, if you have more than one request, don't simply mention all the things you want—A, B, C, and D; also signal the relative importance of each to you. Otherwise, she may pick the two things you value least, because they're pretty easy to give you, and feel she's met you halfway. Then you'll have an offer that's not much better and a negotiating partner who thinks her job is done. Don't negotiate just to negotiate. Resist the temptation to prove that you are a great negotiator. MBA students who have just taken a class on negotiation are plagued by this problem: They go bargaining berserk the first chance they get, which is with a prospective employer. My advice: If something is important to you, absolutely negotiate. But don't haggle over every little thing. Fighting to get just a bit more can rub people the wrong way—and can limit your ability to negotiate with the company later in your career, when it may matter more. Think through the timing of offers. At the beginning of a job hunt, you often want to get at least one offer in order to feel secure. This is especially true for people finishing a degree program, when everyone is interviewing and some are celebrating early victories. Ironically, getting an early offer can be problematic: Once a company has made an offer, it will expect an answer reasonably soon. If you want to consider multiple jobs, it's useful to have all your offers arrive close together. So don't be afraid to slow down the process with one potential employer or to speed it up with another, in order to have all your options laid out at one time. This, too, is a balancing act: If you pull back too much—or push too hard—a company may lose interest and hire someone else. But there are subtle ways to solve such problems. For example, if you want to delay an offer, you might ask for a later second- or third-round interview. Avoid, ignore, or downplay ultimatums of any kind. People don't like being told “Do this or else.” So avoid giving ultimatums. Sometimes we do so inadvertently—we're just trying to show strength, or we're frustrated, and it comes off the wrong way. Your counterpart may do the same. My personal approach when at the receiving end of an ultimatum is to simply ignore it, because at some point the person who gave it might realize that it could scuttle the deal and will want to take it back. He can do that much more easily without losing face if it's never been discussed. If someone tells you, “We'll never do this,” don't dwell on it or make her repeat it. Instead you might say, “I can see how that might be difficult, given where we are today. Perhaps we can talk about X, Y, and Z.” Pretend the ultimatum was never given and keep her from becoming wedded to it. If it's real, she'll make that clear over time. Remember, they're not out to get you. Tough salary negotiations or long delays in the confirmation of a formal offer can make it seem that potential employers have it in for you. But if you're far enough along in the process, these people like you and want to continue liking you. Unwillingness to move on a particular issue may simply reflect constraints that you don't fully appreciate. A delay in getting an offer letter may just mean that you're not the only concern the hiring manager has in life. Stay in touch, but be patient. And if you can't be patient, don't call up in frustration or anger; better to start by asking for a clarification on timing and whether there's anything you can do to help move things along. Stay at the table. Remember: What's not negotiable today may be negotiable tomorrow. Over time, interests and constraints change. When someone says no, what he's saying is “No—given how I see the world today.” A month later that same person may be able to do something he couldn't do before, whether it's extending an offer deadline or increasing your salary. Suppose a potential boss denies your request to work from home on Fridays. Maybe that's because he has no flexibility on the issue. But it's also possible that you haven't yet built up the trust required to make him feel comfortable with that arrangement. Six months in, you'll probably be in a better position to persuade him that you'll work conscientiously away from the office. Be willing to continue the conversation and to encourage others to revisit issues that were left unaddressed or unresolved. Maintain a sense of perspective. This is the final and most important point. You can negotiate like a pro and still lose out if the negotiation you're in is the wrong one. Ultimately, your satisfaction hinges less on getting the negotiation right and more on getting the job right. Experience and research demonstrate that the industry and function in which you choose to work, your career trajectory, and the day-to-day influences on you (such as bosses and coworkers) can be vastly more important to satisfaction than the particulars of an offer. These guidelines should help you negotiate effectively and get the offer you deserve, but they should come into play only after a thoughtful, holistic job hunt designed to ensure that the path you're choosing will lead you where you want to go. Ep. 199, Diana Rodgers and Embracing Modern Medicine On this episode of The Paleo View, Stacy and Sarah are joined by Diana Rodgers of Sustainable Dish to talk about why it's okay to seek medical attention and not feel ashamed about it. While paleo can be a very helpful diet for people who are suffering, it's not a panacea. It is always appropriate to seek medical attention if you can't fix what's wrong with you with diet and lifestyle changes alone.     Click the picture above to be taken to iTunes or download and listen by clicking the PodBean Player below   If you enjoy the show, please review it in iTunes! The Paleo View (TPV), Episode 199, Diana Rodgers and Embracing Modern Medicine Intro (0:00) News and Views (1:18) We are joined by Diana Rodgers, newly minted Registered Dietician and blogger at Sustainable Dish Diana and Emily Deans just posted an amazing article called Unicorns and Rainbows: The Myth of the Paleo Panacea Paleo will not necessarily solve all of your medical issues There is no shame in seeking medical attention! The goal of paleo is not to make anyone feel "less than" Diana was inspired by a patient who had Cyclothymia and was worried about going on an antidepressant If you had a heart condition would you stick it out and hope paleo would make it go away? No way! Modern medicine, with all its criticism from the Real Food Movement, has some great stuff going on! Remember: What's your goal? Because none of us are making it out of here alive. The search for the optimal human diet is not instead of modern medicine, it's in addition to it. Find a balance and take advantage of medicine when it is appropriate. The good news: there is no chronic condition that a healthy diet, proper sleep and sufficient activity will not improve. You have not failed if you have to take medication! No moral judgment for medical intervention Even if you choose to go off medication, do it with doctor supervision to monitor for the potential bad effects of going off medicine Read Matt's blog post about his psychiatric conditions here and here. Remember: It's super hard to stay off medication for him! It's amazing how we now have tons of medical professionals in paleo now! Diana is now a Registered Dietician after a long process Controlled nutrition and IV nutrition save lives! How do you sit in a classroom and listen to things you disagree with? It was really hard for Diana to "waste her time" learning for her RD. By the third week, Diana couldn't hold her tongue all the time. Luckily, she could text Mat Lalonde (Harvard lecturer, scientist, Kraken) (she trade organ meat from her farm for unlimited texting!) Everything in moderation drives us crazy! It's not great advice that candy and junk food can be a part of a healthy diet because most people can't effectively moderate. Diana is a big believer in a period of cleansing like Whole30. The saturated fat is fine new ideas hasn't made it into her RD classes. Studying for test is hard! She had to figure out their "right" answer because anything she believed would probably be wrong! They wouldn't accept many of her undergrad classes and she had to start over at Biology 101! Even though she was a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in practice, none of her experience would count towards her RD. She had a hard time getting an internship because she couldn't move due to family and farm. So she made sure to get all A's so she could get an internship in Boston, but was still rejected a lot (maybe due to her paleo presence on the internet She got into an ISPP (Individualized Supervised Practice Pathways) instead. Allowed her to pay for supervision and allowed her to set her own flexible internship. She paid 6500 dollars! She worked in a community capacity, in a food service capacity and in a medical capacity rotation. Part of her rotation was with Dr. Alessio Fasano, a noted scientist and doctor that studies Celiac disease! Sarah is amazed by that! It was really depressing to talk with dying patients without any opportunity for real food resources. Diana has a couple of offices she works out of, and is taking patients! She's glad she has a Nutritional Therapy and real food background before she started getting her RD. Diana's post is "How I Became a Real Food Nutritionist/RD" Over half the states say that only an RD can give nutrition advice, so you have to be careful when writing about nutrition on the internet. And now she can give advice as an RD, and she can accept insurance! She also works with patients online! Diana's website (with free ebook!) is at Sustainable Dish Her books are Homegrown Paleo, about a local, sustainable, and real food and "The Lunchbox Book" Paleo Lunches and Breakfasts on the Go It's spring! Women Rocking Wall Street - A podcast dedicated to women in financial services

Episode 42: The Power Pose  It’s been a great first year of the Women Rocking Wall Street, and I’ve had the pleasure of following up with Tracy Bagli Hooper, who was my very first guest when I first launched WRW. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to episode two, Confidence is Contagious, Tracy is the creator of The Confidence Project, an organization dedicated to help others build confidence in their lives. As she likes to say, “the Confidence Project is an equal opportunity endeavor.” According to Tracy, confidence may have a genetic component, and even though some people may have a slight genetic advantage, it’s possible to build confidence through training our brain for a confidence mindset.  Have you ever heard of the Power Pose? It’s a technique for building confidence for a meeting, interview or any event where you want to build and demonstrate your best self.  It changes the hormones in your brain and help you reduce Cortisol and increase Testosterone.  It’ll not only affect how you feel, but how others feel about you. Studies indicated the people who were perceived as smarter and more competent are the ones who do the Power Pose.  It’s free, takes 2 minutes a day! Watch the TED Talk with Amy Cuddy here.  Tracy sees a great value in momentum, and is sharing her services to as wide a range of people as possible.  She learned that narrowing focus too quickly can adversely affect momentum. There is certainly a value in developing a niche and a focus, but be careful not to niche down too quickly. She also reminds us to be aware of the skills and talents we possess, we might be fluent in areas that others find completely baffling. The knowledge we take for granted might be the crucial knowledge that others need, and this gives us the opportunity to help others move forward too.  Remember: What we know, others might not know.  There are some great books for growth and development that Tracy recommends, including: “The Confidence Code” by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman; “The Defining Decade” by Meg Jay; “Key Person of Influence” by Daniel Priestly; and “Playing Big” by Tara Moore. If you’d like to get in touch with Tracy and learn more about the The Confidence Project, visit her site at confidenceproject.com, or visit her on Facebook or send her a quick email.  If you liked this episode, be sure to share it with others and head over to iTunes and write a review. Also, thanks for listening!

The Gift Within The Gift Numbers 13:1-3 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; from each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a leader among them.” 3 So Moses sent them from the Wilderness of Paran according to the command of the Lord, all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel. Think on this: Something inside you gravitates toward growth. - You have the instinct for improvement. - You were created for expansion. - Simply put, you were born to eat grapes. Remember: The person of Jesus creates your peace; the principles of Jesus creates your prosperity. 6 Gates to Help Us Obtain the Grapes: 1. The Gate of Obedience. Deuteronomy 28:1 “…if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God…” Remember: Obedience simply means doing what you learned to do. It means living up to the knowledge you have received. Think on this: Whatever God tells you to do, do it. Only a fool negotiates with a gift-giver. 2. The Gate of Knowledge. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Remember: What you currently don’t know, concerning God’s Word, is keeping you defeated. - Information is God’s business. - All of heaven is involved in distributing information. - The Bible is literally the “Winner’s Digest,” informing us about God, His Power, Nature and His thoughts. A key to the gate of knowledge: You have to believe you have a right to the grapes. Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Remember: You cannot take hold of the grace and blessings of God unless you have knowledge of what He has provided for you. You have to open the gate of knowledge so you know what belongs to you. 3. The Gate of Visualization. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Remember: Your mind is a powerful force. Your mind is a force that affects everything else in your life. - If you do not see the grapes in your mind, you will not see them in your future. 4. The Gate of Forgiveness. Isaiah 43:18 “… remember not the former things.” Forgiveness defined: The transferal of the right to judge and penalize. It means you give up your position on God’s vengeance team. Remember: Forgiveness is not the removal of information – it is the removal of the pain of it. 5. The Gate of Persistence. Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Persistence defined: Simply make up your mind, regardless of how far away the grapes appear, to push on for the blessing. Remember: Every man or woman who has ever achieved anything had to persist. MAKE UP YOU MIND – then go after it! 6. The Gate of Sowing. Ephesians 6:8 …knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. Remember: If you want to taste grapes, you have to distribute grapes. - Bless others to receive God’s blessing. - Make happen for others what you want God to make happen for you. - Blessings follow the blesser.
