Isn't "mindfulness" some kind of New Age voodoo craziness??  The short answer is NO. The long answer is, well, in the episode ;)  Be sure to tune in to hear why mindfulness is critical for believers, especially new moms.    Hey, I'm Courtney - a mom, wife, Jesus-lovin' dog owner who is trained in spiritual direction. I love being with people, working out, and spending time with Jesus. After giving birth during the craziness of 2020 (#iykyk), I found myself isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to move forward. Turns out my old ways of operating (in faith, fitness, marriage, friendships, homemaking...ALL the things) weren't sustainable within the context of motherhood.    If you're ready to come up for air, mama, know that you can experience rest *and* peace in your motherhood! Say goodbye to overwhelm and hello to balance and freedom.    Go ahead and throw some ice in your tea or coffee (before it gets cold again

Pregnant mamas want nothing more than to feel a bond with their baby during pregnancy. Sometimes It happens and sometimes It doesn't. But did you know that within the 9 months a mother has the power to clear the subconsious and karma of a child? In this episode you'll learn how to do that. If you're currently pregnant or are planning to get pregnant this is a must-listen to episode.

Mom Tells All - Uncensored laughs, tactics, and mindful methods from a mom of teens!

I want to ask you if any of these questions feel like you?You are overwhelmed at the end of each dayCompletely reactive with no control of your lifeTriggered to the point of tears and unsure whyFeeling resentful and then feeling guilty because of it!Mom guilt, wife guilt, all the guilt…You snap at your spouse and your children often (and if we are honest - for no real reason)As moms, we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. This is just a fact. Period. So, if we wake up each morning in a harried mess, running late, fussing at the kids, and now we are irritated with ourselves for oversleeping, and then it’s the snowball effect. we are already starting the day on the wrong foot and the rest of the day is predicted to be a big ball of poop. Right? Someone already tinkled in your oatmeal sister!!Your day is off to a grand start and it’s not even 8 am. From this point, you have a million things on your to-do list - multiple Zoom meetings for work, kids either to school or settled in for online school, hey mom can you get this, I’m hungry...Fill in the blank here with about 100 other to-do’s. You give, give, and give some more. But I want you to ask yourself this question - aside from the things you do for your family and your home, are you happy with your other commitments? Are you giving of your time in other ways that do not fill your cup? Sure, some of us work and some of us don’t but I want you to think about the EXTRA commitments on your plate. Do they fill your emotional cup or do they take away from it? Are you doing this because you feel like you are supposed to? Because at some time in your life, you were led to believe that in order to be a good mom, you must volunteer for every event, fundraiser, or board position. I want to encourage you to start by making a list of your non-negotiables. What are the things that are most important to you? Write them down. Having these non-negotiables allows me to be present and focused on my kids when they get out of bed. I don’t want to start my day in a chaotic way and I can help them to start their day in as calm of a way as possible but let’s be realistic here. They are hormonal and the sound of my breathing can piss them off. Am I right or am I right??? LOL!! Next, I want you to think about all of your daily tasks Write them down. Create different boxes/bubbles/lists and label them: Home, Work, Me, Etc. Creating systems and routines will reduce anxiety and reduce stress levels. Maybe you meal plan on Sunday, make lunches the night before, set out your workout clothes the night before, or unload the dishwasher while your oatmeal is cooking. Really dig into what your day looks like and how you can lump all of the similar things together into blocks. I have work blocks, family blocks, Lis blocks, and cleaning blocks. If you are feeling overwhelmed with where to even start, I want you to know that I can help you. Together we can map out a plan that will prove that 2021 is going to be your best year. I am praying that you will find peace in your life and know that if you need guidance, I am here. Grab your coffee, your tea, your wine, and let’s chat. Send me an email or DM me on Instagram. info@momtellsall.com IG: @lishammons I’m sending you so much love,Lis

Topic:  Have you ever heard of mindfulness meditation? We think it’s fitting to discuss this during these difficult times. According to Wikipedia, Mindfulness is the psychological process of purposely bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment, which one develops through the practice of meditation and through other training. Mindfulness meditation asks us to suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness, to ourselves and others. (Source: mindful.org). The motherhood journey is a stressful one. While we can talk about wine socials as a source of dealing (or escapism),We can imagine others are seeking a different approach for stress management.  Let’s explore this thought process of mindfulness meditation  with our guest momologist, Alana Sutton Watkins. Jodi Baretz had me having serious a-ha moments. Her description of why we should be aware of mindfulness, and the benefits it has for us, tugged hard at my heartstrings. I've known about mindfulness and the theory for a long time, but I've never had someone kind of hit me between the eyes about why I would want to prioritize it in my own life, and I feel like our conversation really did that for me.Jodi is a Psychotherapist, Mindfulness Teacher & Integrative Health Coach, and she weaves all of this expertise into her own type of wisdom. She is also the author of the brand new release, Mindful is the New Skinny. To grab your copy, head here: https://amzn.to/2xNECbpIn this episode, a small snippet of the things we cover include:How the desire for external perfection robs us of our joyHow a diet-mindset undermines self-compassionHow obsession with food can be an avoidance mechanism for what we don't want to face in our livesHow we can start being kinder to ourselvesImportance of awareness of our thoughts (and how mindfulness helps us achieve this)How starting a meditation practice can feel like you're locked in a phone booth with a crazy person (but that is okay!)How practicing mindfulness really helps us out when we're up against life's challengesHow so many of us are missing out on making memories in our lives because we're not presentand how we can make sleep a pampering experience. All that and I LOVED her definition of fulfillment! When you set out on your parenting journey you never planned on being a ‘Hot Mess'. However, there are days when that's how you end up. I know. I've had those days too. But the great news is, it's possible to change that. Tell me what you'd rather be. A Hot Mess or a Mindful Mum? In today's episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday we'll be discussing how you can shift your experience as a mum by changing the way you deal with all that life throws at you. And it's done through the use of mindfulness and meditation. My guest today is SuperMum, Ali Katz. Ali's a mindfulness coach, meditation teacher, author, wife and mum to two boys aged 11 and 9. She loves sharing her passion for living a balanced life with others, and has been featured on MindBodyGreen, Style magazine, Fox 26 News, HerFuture, Houston Family magazine, and LiveMom.com. When not meditating, writing, teaching, or spending time with her family in Houston, Texas, Ali enjoys running, practicing yoga, and sipping tea. Ali's mission is to inspire mothers to leave overwhelm, stress and guilt behind and embrace a life of balance, presence and joy. What I love about what Ali has to share is that she keeps it real. She's a busy mum herself, so she gets that you don't have spare time to head off to a mountain top to sit cross-legged saying omm's. Instead she brings mindfulness and meditation right back into your crazy life, and teaches you how to stay calm and balanced even when you're scraping dried on Weetabix off the carpet. Again. I'm delighted to welcome Ali to my show as she'll walk you through the reasons why meditation and mindfulness are so important in your every day life. And she's here to help you see the importance of taking time to make sure you really are your very best self.   You can find the full write up from this episode including the Show Notes at www.Lisa-York.com/061 Go Conquer Motherhood!

In today’s session, Ali as tells us with all her vibrancy, joy, and warmth of her journey from Hot Mess to Mindful Mom. Ali’s personal experiences of being pulled in so many directions while trying to make everyone happy led her to a place where not only was their no room in her life for herself, what she was giving to others was not at all her best self. With meditation, or mindfulness, Ali found that taking time for herself each day, to gather herself in peace and reflection, let her bring her best self to those she loved while also allowing her to bring her message to the world. She is an inspiration for all of us, not just those with young children. Ali found the secret sauce that works so beautifully.
