According to Kevin Weekes, the NHL is considering an outdoor game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings at The Shoe in Ohio, with a University of Michigan and Ohio State theme. We're never ones to turn our noses to an outdoor game, but...why? The line blender was out at practice on Tuesday, as Joe Veleno replaced Alex DeBrincat on the top line, Cat slid down to line 2, and Copp slide to 3C. Are these for real, or just a practice experiment? Previewing the New Jersey Devils. #LGRW Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! BetterHelp This episode is brought to you by BetterHelp. It was an ugly start, quickly down 1-0, but after that the Red Wings woke up. Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Larkin both had 3 points in a 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit's 3rd straight win. Copp also picked up a pair of goals as well. Special teams continues to be a strong point for Detroit, and Husso played his best game yet. #lgrw Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

It wasn't a great start for Detroit in Columbus as defensive lapses gave the Blue Jackets ample opportunity to take the lead, yet James Reimer denied them all. From there the Red Wings took over, dominating the rest of the game in every zone. Veleno found Gostisbehere for his 1st as a Red Wings, and Larkin and Copp converted on the Power Play. Rasmussen also tallied his 1st of the season! Klim Kostin also leveled Cole Sillinger and and answered the bell against Gudbranson for a classic fight. #LGRW Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Next, with Filip Hronek traded & not much in the pipeline, what will Steve Yzerman do to fill the hole at right defense? Steve Yzerman's vision for the future of the Detroit Red Wings took some major steps this week, with the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline culminating in the trade of Tyler Bertuzzi, Jakub Vrana, and Oskar Sundqvist (after already trading Filip Hronek and signing Dylan Larkin & Jake Walman earlier in the week). The only thing that didn't happen was the James Van Riemsdyk trade - JVR, you'll be missed in Motown. Tune in as we open by discussing the Tyler Bertuzzi trade to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a top-10 protected 2024 1st round pick & a 2025 4th round pick. We analyze the quality of the return, whether Bertuzzi was ever close to signing in Hockeytown before becoming a UFA, Dylan Larkin's emotional press conference right after the trade, Bertuzzi's impact in the room & on the ice, & more (4:20). Next, the Jakub Vrana saga ended as Yzerman traded him to St. Louis for a 7th round pick and McLaughlin. We explain why the Red Wings chose to move on Vrana, the reasons the return was so small, and wish Vrana well in a hopefully fresh new start (20:55). Finally, trading Oskar Sundqvist to the Minnesota Wild for a 4th round pick - the "Namestnikov Special" (26:12). We then take stock of the Red Wings' draft capital over the next few years, and assess whether the Yzerplan is on track, if spending on players like Copp, Perron, Husso, & Maatta last season was a mistake, whether Yzerman will use or trade those picks for key players, honest analysis on where the rebuild stands, & LOTS more (28:20). Finally, some quick notes on signings like Doucet & Letheman (Sebastian Cossa's teammate), Alex Nedeljkovic being recalled as Ville Husso was hurt, Yzerman's notes on Simon Edvinsson, Marco Kasper, Albert Johansson, Cross Hanas, Michael Rasmussen, Joe Veleno, Filip Zadina, & other young guns (54:15), Red Wings game recap & look ahead at the standings and Connor Bedard draft lottery (1:01:55), and a look at some more trades from across the NHL (1:07:35). All of that & plenty more before taking your questions during Overtime (1:17:35) - enjoy! This month we were excited to welcome our own Executive Vice President, Rich Copp, who leads up our healthcare and mission-focused teams at IMG, as a guest on We've Got Issues. Rich came to our firm after serving as the Vice President of Communications and chief spokesperson for Mass General Brigham for 13 years. His impressive career also includes various senior communications roles at the Massachusetts Hospital Association and Brockton Hospital, as well time spent as the director of communications for two secretaries of health and human services. During our conversation, Rich shared his insight into how the role of communication has changed in healthcare in the aftermath of the pandemic, and where the pain points are today for the healthcare sector in Greater Boston. He also helped to dispel some of the most common misconceptions out there today about the American healthcare system and shared some of the trends in healthcare that he's keeping an eye on this year.

Hi everybody, and welcome to Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings finally have a home. The Detroit Red Wings are dealing with Bo Horvat trade rumors and Dylan Larkin contract negotiations. In the meantime, Andrew Copp and the team played a great game against a not so great opponent, the San Jose Sharks. We'll discuss it all with you! Andrew Copp just played one of his best games as a Detroit Red Wing and we think we have some insight into how and why. Copp netted the game winner in OT vs the Sharks, so hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. The Red Wings are also in the middle of the hottest trade rumors to hit the market in the NHL this season. While the Vancouver Canucks are turning into the embarrassment of the league, they are very transparent with what they want to do in their next steps. Bo Horvat is one of those next steps and while they'd like to keep him, shipping him out seems like the best option. While Bo Horvat is at the top of everyone's mind, a related story, because it deals with another pending UFA in the NHL, Dylan Larkin is discussing with Steve YZerman his own extension. Imperfect Mommying: Better Parenting through Self Healing with Alysia Lyons
In this episode, Danica and I discuss the things our kids need to know before launching into this world on their own. Danica (da-NEE-ka) Copp has spent over 20 years as a master's level, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in adolescents. She helps parents make sure their teens learn all the stuff we figure they know...but they DON'T! Because teenagers' worlds are so tech-centric, they are often missing many of the major life skills they need to make it, and their parents don't even know! Is your teen confident in applying and interviewing for a job? Asking for help or a break at work when they need it? Managing doctor's appts, medications, a monthly budget? Most teens are lacking in these and many other basic skills (through no fault of their own), and it's never too early to start filling in these gaps! Danica helps parents launch THEIR teen to confident success! Hi everybody, and welcome to Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home. We had plans for this episode but ultimately discuss how Detroit Red Wings and their fans are reminded that Ryan Reaves is a goon and is still in the league. We discuss how his play does not belong in the league anymore and the rest of the NHL media needs to learn that. Detroit Red Wings need to find a finisher or someone who can finish, especially after the Dylan Larkin injury. We discussed if that finish can be found somewhere in the locker room or if the WIngs would need to look outside of the organization. We also touch on ELmer Soderblom returning for the Red Wings while Dylan Larkin, Tyler Bertuzzi, Robbi Fabbri and Jakub Vrana remain out as well. Currently the Wings have some great Top 9 forward talent. But it is tough to definitively stamp anyone one of our forwards, without a Dylan Larkin, as a top line player, especially with the production we've been seeing. Dominik Kubalik, David Perron, Rasmussen, and Copp have shown flashes, and of course, the future is bright for Lucas Raymond and Jonatan Berggren, but none can easily be relied upon for a win. THe boys also discuss the Red Wings' ability to slow down their opponent's offense which has helped the likes of Ville Husso stand out as he continues to lead the Red Wings from between the pipes and is making an argument for himself to be in the Vezina conversation, thus far through the 2022-23 campaign.
