Welcome back to Transmissions. This week on the show, which brings our 2023 season to a close, we are joined by Matt Werth of RVNG to discuss the life and multi-dimensional sound worlds of Pauline Anna Strom. This month, the label released Echoes, Spaces, Lines, which collects the first three albums from the Bay Area synthesist and composer, including Trans-Millenia Consort, Plot Zero, and Spectre, as well as Oceans of Time, an unreleased record included in the box set for the first time.  An energy worker, reptile enthusiast, and imagination specialist, Anna Strom's work continues to gleam after her passing in 2020. Home to releases by Sensations Fix, Craig Leon, Holly Herndon, K Leimer, just to name a few favorites, among many more, RVNG is one of the most exciting reissue slash new music labels going, and it was a real treat to connect with Werth to discuss his time with Pauline and her unique and singular musical path.  Transmissions is a part of the Talkhouse Podcast Network. Visit the Talkhouse for more interviews, fascinating reads, and podcasts. This episode concludes our 2023 season, but never fear, we'll be back early in the new year with more strange conversations for our strange times. Only the good shit. Aquarium Drunkard is powered by its patrons. Keep the servers humming and help us continue doing it by pledging your support via our Patreon page.

This week on the show, Transmissions host Jason P. Woodbury joins Penelope Spheeris, director of The Decline of Western Civilization trilogy, The Beverly Hillbillies, Little Rascals, Suburbia, and Wayne's World. Spheeris is the host of Peter and the Acid King, a true crime podcast set in the Los Angeles punk scene of the early ‘80s concerning the unsolved murder of Peter Ivers. A pop culture wunderkind, Ivers was many things at once: an all-star harmonica player who played alongside Little Walter, a pal of Van Dyke Parks who opened for Fleetwood Mac, and a songwriter who wrote music for David Lynch's Eraserhead and artists like Diana Ross and The Pointer Sisters. In the early '80s, he found found notoriety as host of New Wave Theatre, which showcased Bad Religion, Circle Jerks, 45 Grave and the Angry Samoans. Peter and the Acid King explores that epochal cultural era and its violent end. Working with investigator and co-creator Alan Sacks, Spheeris narrates with 10-part series, which is just about to finish its run, with world weary charm and sly understatement, as well as her signature attitude. If you dig our show and want to support the work we do at Aquarium Drunkard, pledge your support on Patreon and help keep the servers humming.  Transmissions is a part of the Talkhouse Podcast Network. Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means. I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28. It started with Abraham in Genesis 12 —the first three verses there —Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations. They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon --------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- #face #instagram #amour #take #couple #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing

Hailed as one of the forefathers of both ambient electronic and new age music, Laraaji is best known for his 1980 collaboration with Brian Eno, "Ambient 3: Day of Radiance."Born in 1943 as Edward Larry Gordon, Laraaji attended Howard University in Washington D.C. on a scholarship to study composition and piano. He later spent time in New York persuing a career as a stand-up comedian and actor. In the seventies, Laraaji began his lifelong study of Eastern Mysticism, was initiated as a swami, and merged music with spiritual practice. Following an intuition, he bought a zither from a local pawn shop, converted it to an electronic instrument, and, while busking in Washington Square Park, Laraaji was discovered by Brian Eno who offered to produce him on the spot. His recordings can be found at labels: WARP records, All Saints records, GLITTERBEAT ,Numero Group, Stones Throw, Leaving Records, Soul Jazz, Virgin, Flying Moonlight, RVNG records.laraaji.blogspot.com/

Shock World Service 072: Constellation Swan by Chloe Frieda (Alien Jams) 22/11/17 London, United Kingdom http://www.shockworldservice.com 1. Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe & Ariel Kalma - Miracle Mile This whole album is amazing, a collaboration between Robert A. A. Lowe and Ariel Kalma called "We Know Each Other Now Somehow." It was released on RVNG in 2015. 2. Xordox - Diamonds This release came out this year on Editions Mego, a project helmed by JG Thirlwel with Noveller featured in three of the tracks. Shimmering synths morph into an intense horror soundtrack. 3. recsund - Hall of Waits This one is by my partner Clifford Sage, I also included a glimmer of this track at the very beginning of the mix, It's from his release Deadsounds V. 4. Charles Manier - Mesrop I have a few of Manier's records (an alias of Tadd Mullinix) and I always go back to them! Gritty, weird, EBM, industrial goodness, it's hard to pick one track from the record as there are so many great tracks to choose from. 5. Alek Stark - GC 4406 Alek Stark has an impressive discography, dating back to 2002, many of which I have yet to check out. This release on CPU is pretty solid, some beautiful electro here. 6. Reckonwrong - Morton This track is from Reckonwrong's release on Pinkman, it's a hard one to categorise. I love how this track unfolds, especially with the "I feel that my music is important" vocal sample. 7. Rings Around Saturn - Synchrotron Synthy perfection from this electro gem. 8. Jensen Interceptor- Carter's Green Factory Another one from the mighty Central Processing Unit, a Drexcyan beauty. 9. Dreams - Gut Bounce This one fits well amongst the Apron back-catalogue, with chugging acid lines and floating melodies. 10. Morphology - Darkstar (The Hacker Remix) This track is from a remix record with The Exaltics, JTC, Sync 24 and Deixis on the label Cultivated Electronics. Dark and brooding electro remix by the Hacker. 11. Echo 106 - From Brunnen to the Nile Euphoric electro, this is one of my favourites. 12. Wilted Woman - Heating Problem New record on Alien Jams :) 13. Terribilis - Alucarda Released on a Quantum Natives compilation "Seize the Means of Production," her set at the ICA this year was wonderful.
