In this last episode of 2025 for ⁠The Tarot Diagnosis⁠, and I'm offering a collective reading using my annual New Year spread. This reading is for all of us - a shared reflection on what we're carrying forward, what we're releasing, and how we can meet the coming year with more awareness, regulation, and intention. At the center of the spread is our 2026 collective year card: The Wheel of Fortune, an archetype that speaks to change, movement, uncertainty, and the reality that life keeps turning whether we feel ready or not.Throughout the episode, I walk through each card in the seven-card spread and explore it through a therapeutic, nervous-system–informed lens. We begin by looking back at 2025 and naming something to be proud of, which arrives in the form of the Four of Cups which I realize feels like emotional discernment and learning where our energy no longer belongs. From there, the Two of Wands invites us to continue exploring curiosity, vision, and expansion in 2026, especially by gently stepping into our stretch zone rather than pushing ourselves into panic.As the reading unfolds, the Four of Swords emerges as a key lesson from the Wheel of Fortune itself: sometimes we need to tune out in order to truly tune in. This card becomes the Wheel's nervous-system companion, reminding us that rest, reduced stimulation, and intentional pauses are what allow us to survive constant motion without burning out. The Five of Pentacles reversed encourages us to stop chasing closed doors and opt out of spaces (social, creative, spiritual, or relational) that no longer offer genuine care or belonging.We then turn toward what to release as we enter the new year, with The Hanged Man reversed highlighting the trap of endless waiting, over-intellectualizing, or disguising avoidance as patience and spirituality. I've had “Timekeeper” by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals stuck in my head, and it sent me down a rabbit hole about how we experience time - psychologically, somatically, and through tarot. In this episode of The Tarot Diagnosis⁠, I explore why time isn't a single, objective thing we all live the same way. Instead, our nervous systems, mental health, creativity, grief, and even neurodivergence shape how fast or slow life feels. But if Satanism, true Satanism as defined by Anton LaVey in 1966, is a profoundly life-loving religion, why all the black candles, skulls, and funerary trappings? The use of a coffin in the ceremony known as “L'air Epais—the Ceremony of the Stifling Air”, for example, goes well beyond a simple memento mori to remind ourselves how fleeting is our time here on Earth. The coffin becomes, like the Hanged Man in the tarot, a symbol of both death and transformation. Anxiety and fear are the very shadow-side fundaments of human religiosity, and nowhere is magical thinking as present as in thoughts and emotions touching upon (the fear of) death. The Adventurers aren't incompetent, so don't portray this as them being inept. It's about stepping back and allowing the natural flow of life to reveal the answers. When The Hanged Man appears reversed, however, this energy is blocked. It often suggests resistance to change, impatience, or a feeling of being stuck without seeing the purpose of the delay. The reversed Hanged Man points to a struggle with letting go or trusting the process. It can indicate that you're holding onto control or resisting a shift in perspective that could bring clarity and growth.So, what happens when The Hanged Man appears in a reading? When The Hanged Man reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to examine where resistance is showing up in your life. This card suggests that now is the time to surrender and allow things to unfold naturally, rather than forcing outcomes. It may also indicate that you're feeling stagnant or uninspired. The reversed Hanged Man asks you to explore what might be keeping you stuck and to consider whether a change in perspective could help you move forward. So, what is the best way to memorize the Hanged Man card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Hanged Man card moment was during a time when I had a feeling that layoffs were coming in my employee role.  I was frantically trying to get in front of it.  For example, I went to Employment Services to find out what options I had if I was laid off.  I was also applying on any role I thought I had a chance with.  I was selling possessions I no longer needed on Facebook Marketplace.  Truly, I was acting like a loon.  I was absolutely in the Hanged Man Reversed Eenergy because I was trying to take control of something that quite frankly, was out of control.  The company may lay me off, or they may not.  Yet, instead of allowing things to unfold naturally, I was choosing to take action instead of changing my perspective.That's all for today's Hanged Man Card Reversed episode. This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I was inspired by a facetious conversation inside The Symposium about how you could use tarot as a form of marketing (e.g., Want to go from the Ten of Swords to the Ace of Cups?) I sat on this conversation for a while because it did strike a cord - but I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to explore it. Then it hit me - this felt a lot like spiritual bypassing.  Spiritual bypassing involves using spiritual practices and beliefs to avoid confronting unresolved emotional issues and psychological wounds - it can also feel like toxic positivity.
