Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Cardassians Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 2 episode 5: Cardassians! This episode focuses on war orphans left behind by the Cardassians when they withdrew from Bajor. Sisko finds himself in the middle of a custody battle that seems to have piqued the interest of Gul Dukat. Dukat seems overly concerned about the plight of a single orphan that he (supposedly) didn’t even know existed up until now. Lots of drama and also another recognizable guest star in Robert Mandan. Cardassians: Garek, Dukat and Rugal…oh my… An orphaned Cardassian “child” (and I use that term loosely as the actor was in his mid 20s, but playing a 13 year old) turns up at the station. Garek takes a particular interest in him and pays the price when the kid bites him. This sets off a string of events that involves several Dukat phone calls, Sisko in his PJs, some fun banter between Bashir and Garak, a quick trip to a Bajoran orphanage and a weighty custody hearing. Join us as we discuss the development of the Garak-Bashir relationship, the sliminess of Dukat and the purpleness of Sisko’s PJs. What’s this rebinge thing? It’s a re-watch of a thing you’ve already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Please listen to season 1 and some of our favorite episodes like In the Hands of the Prophets and Duet. Or you can also listen to our previous episode (a really good one): The Siege. Next time… We dive into Season 2 Episode 6 of DS9: Melora. Be sure and join our Facebook group and Follow Rebinge It on Twitter!

Star Trek: Discovery – Short Treks, Season 2 Episodes 4 & 5: Ephraim and Dot/The Girl Who Made the Stars We’re back with not just another episode of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast! No, not at all! That’s because this is episode 47!!! This time, Ruthie and I cover the fourth and fifth Short Trek of Season 2: Ephraim and Dot, which was written by Chris Silvestri & Anthony Maranville, and directed by Michael Giacchino; and The Girl Who Made the Stars, which was written by Brandon Schultz and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi. Both of these animated Short Treks were released Thursday, December 12, 2019. We aren’t separating these… We decided not to release these as separate episodes because we didn’t get a lot of feedback on them, especially The Girl Who Made the Stars. Therefore, we’re releasing them as a single episode. Fred’s Pics! Fred from The Netherlands was kind enough to collect a LOT of images for these Short Treks. Therefore, we use them to tell most of the story! First of all, we have some feedback on the last two Short Treks… We had feedback for the last two Short Treks and the episodes in which we covered them, The Trouble with Edward and Ask Not, so we start off with that. Short Treks Season 2 Episode 4 – Ephraim and Dot This one used two “characters” that were introduced on Star Trek: Discovery: The tardigrade from Season 1 (assuming it’s the same one), and the DOT-7 that we saw in the season finale of Season 2, Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2. It’s told in a Tom & Jerry style. We didn’t really agree about this episode. Ruthie didn’t care for it at all. I loved it, but I had one major continuity problem with the Short Trek. More on that in a bit. We start with black and white images… To start, we get an old film to start with. Would they have this in the 23rd Century? I don’t think so because that’s not even a thing today, but that’s a minor point. We begin…

Star Trek: Discovery – Season 2, Episode 5: Saints of Imperfection For episode 30 of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Ruthie is back and we discuss Season 2 Episode 5 of Star Trek: Discovery, which is titled, Saints of Imperfection. It was written by executive story editor Kirsten Beyer, who is said to be one of the creators of the new Picard series, and directed by David Barrett. He previously directed S1E7 Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad. Fred’s Pics! We have been blessed yet again with pics chosen by Fred from The Netherlands, including the cover image. We will show them throughout this blog post. Discussion on Saints of Imperfection begins at 18:12… We begin the podcast with feedback from previous episodes, and Ruthie’s take on last week’s episode, since she was out sick. Then, we finally get into this wonderful episode a little over 18 minutes in. A very cool looking episode! From the Section 31 tech to the partial spore jump, to the beauty of the mycelial network, this episode was beautiful. This show just keeps outdoing itself visually! STDP 030 – Discovery’s Partial Jump STDP 030 – Bridge In The Network Another Tough One for Tilly… Taken to the mycelial network to kill a monster, Tilly has yet another tough episode, but one that she comes through in the end with support from her friends. This may be the end of that connection with May, but I have a feeling that those two will meet again. One thing I said during recording was that I didn’t feel that the emotional connection between Tilly and May didn’t seem earned, but I have rethought that stance. I can see it now. STDP 030 – Discovery In The Mycelial Network The Return of Culber! One of the worst kept secrets in Star Trek history, Culber has returned, although it is a new Culber, reconstituted in the mycelial network. How much of the old Culber is in this new Culber is hard to know, but if you think this is far fetched, remember Star Trek III: The Search for Spock! Is this anymore far fetched than if it was his katra? STDP 030 – Culber In The Network Georgiou and Section 31! We got another long glimpse at what the Section 31 series may be like in this episode. With Georgiou, Tyler, newcomer Leland and (possibly) Admiral Cornwell, who showed up near the end of the episode, we could definitely see those characters in that show. To me, it’s looking more and more interesting. Sparks fly when the Discovery captures Spock’s shuttlecraft, only to find that Georgiou is piloting it. We think Pike may put two and two together about Georgiou if he knows where Lorca came from. There were some interesting scenes between Georgiou and Burnham and more interesting actions by the former Mirror Emperor that will keep us guessing. What are her true intentions? We’ll have to keep watching to find out! STDP 030 – Georgiou Hands Up

With "logic_b0mb" (S2E5), Mr. Robot's second season reached another level. From the FBI's tragedy to the reunion of our main characters, the episode seemed to address any lingering concerns fans may have from the slower pace of S2 thus far. Given how significant the happenings were this week, we devoted the entire pod to breaking down what made logic_b0mb so effective. Touching on everything from Ray to Joanna Wellick, fsociety to Whiterose, there are clearly spoilers ahead.
We cover episodes S2e5 through S2e8 of The Office

Was the Witness' identity revealed in the latest episode of 12 Monkeys, Bodies of Water? Certainly his method of communication was made clear as the 12 Monkeys fought their internal battles. Talking Through Captive Captive is the next episode in season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead and boy did we have a lot to say about this episode! We were kind of all over the place, but hopefully what we had to say made sense to most of you. What we didn’t understand was why Connor’s group expected Alicia to simply ditch her family and stick with them. What did they have to offer that was so great that would outweigh being with family? While it’s true that not everyone is blessed with a great family or great family bonds, they had no idea if that was the case for Alicia. As Jack found out, Alicia would rather be with her family than them. A few more things… And now for a few more things about Captive that I didn’t get to say or forgot to say, or wanted to say again. Not that it matters now, but at the time I was wondering how long Connor would be able to provide all of his people with a hot meal. I guess after this episode, the answer is not very long. Alicia mentions the laws of nature again in this episode. When we first see Travis, it appears that he is coming to. Apparently, he was knocked out at some point. Neither of us understood why Alex blamed Travis specifically. She didn’t have any more interactions with him than Strand, but for some reason, she held him responsible for her plight. We were also unsure of the timeline of events because nothing seems to be matching up correctly. Hopefully, we will get more answers in the next two episodes! Send in your feedback! However, if you have answers, we would love to hear from you! If all you have are more questions but no answers, we would love to hear from you! We will try to answer them as best we can, or maybe someone else can give you an answer. What I’m trying to say is, give us some feedback, pretty PLEASE!! For Fear the Walking Dead, Season 2 Episode 6, titled Sicut Cervus, please send in your feedback by Tuesday 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central.
