One of the unsung heroes in making a show or film is the editor. The look, feel, and tone of the show can be manipulated by the editor to transform a production into something extraordinary. Chad Rubel is a video editor in LA who has been working in the industry for some time and has edited the Short Treks episodes "Children of Mars" and "Ask Not," as well as episodes from season 3 of Star Trek Discovery "People of Earth," "Scavengers," Terra Firma" part 1, and "There is a tide." He is currently hard at work on season four of the series. Chad explains how he fell in love with editing, what the post-production workflow is like and how the video editors work with the VFX teams, working with Alex Kurtzman, Olatunde Osunsanmi, and the directors and producers of DISCO, as well as having Jonathan Frakes sit in the editing room with him to work on episodes! Prophecy#25-a Our Lord is saying, “Seek Me where I can be found. Ask Me what you will, and I will tell you how. What you have been told is to Seek ~ is to Pray, but this is not so.” “They say you have not for you Ask Not but what they are saying is that if you Ask Me for anything is it shall be given to you, they Speak Presumptuously.” “When you Seek Me do not give up, I can be found; however, when you find Me do not tell me what you need for, I already know. Rather Ask Me how to obtain what you think you have need of. In a short while I will tell you how to obtain that which you think so you need. Although, I know you so well; you will Quickly Grow Weary in your attempts to obtain what you will. Falling to the Wayside you will say it is Not Worth the Effort. You will learn what you thought you needed was not all that important and learn to Live Without It.” It is Written: “You Ask and Do Not Receive, because You Ask Amiss, that you may Spend it on Your Pleasures.” (James 4:3 NKJV).   Prophet Kent Simpson  ProphetSimpson@gmail.com Prophetic Ministries Today The School of Prophetic Knowledge  https://www.propheticministries.org/

In Gaming news, Timelines launches “Plateau of Tomorrow” and Star Trek Adventures proposes that it's Good to be Bad! Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we'll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Question Is: CQ: During the COVID Pandemic, how are you listening to Priority One Podcast? AND CQ: What was your favorite Season 2 Short Trek? Which was your least favorite? AND CQ: If you could cast David Tennant in any role in Star Trek, which role would it be? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Alex Kurtzman Talks Short Treks As the idiom goes - “Good things come in small packages”. Jewelry boxes - small. Puppies - small. Priority One Producer - small. Emmy nominated Star Trek program - small - or more precisely, Short.  This week, Star Trek Admiral Alex Kurtzman sat down with Deadline Senior Editor and Chief TV Critic Dominic Patten to talk about the Emmy nominated Short Treks “The Girl Who Made the Stars” and “Q&A”. In general, what Kurtzman likes about Short Treks is the series ability to explore things that would otherwise go unseen in the Star Trek multiverse - sometimes using different mediums. With regards to the animated “The Girl Who Made The Stars”, Kurtzman wanted to take the opportunity to emulate another animation house - Pixar. Talking about “Q&A”, Kurtzman pointed out his love of “Waiting for Godot” and Hitchcock's “Rope” and “Lifeboat”, citing the limited sets and how that challenge has the opportunity to ramp up the drama. He then told an interesting story about Picard Season 1 showrunner Michael Chabon, the writer of “Q&A” Finally, Kurtzman talked about the challenges of making Short Treks, as well as what's to come in future seasons. We'll of course have the full video in our show notes, so be sure to trek it out! Screenshot Courtesy of Deadline Then Kurtzman Talks Strange New Worlds! During Kurtzman's sit-down with Dominic Patton on Deadlines “Contenders Television: The Nominees”, the conversation shifted from the Short Trek “Q&A” to the highly-anticipated “Strange New Worlds”. For those that don't remember, “Strange New Worlds” is the recently announced live-action series that will focus on Anson Mount's Christopher Pike, Ethan Peck's Mr. Spock, and Rebecca Romijn's Number One aboard the Enterprise, pre-Kirk. The bad news is that Kurtzman didn't talk long about the upcoming series - but if we've learned anything from the previous segment, content doesn't necessarily have to be long to be good! Kurtzman minced NO words when he gave a synopsis of the show - and may we just say...SQUEEEEE!!!! And one more time for the people in the back - SQUUUEEEE!!!! Excuse me. Kurtzman then spoke to Pike and the crew's optimism, and how Pike's trauma could open interesting story-telling doors for the series. Watch Short Trek Season 2 for Free! Even if you haven't seen an episode of the original series, you probably know who Spock is or that Scotty will beam you up. In England, the same is likely true, but there is a franchise even older - even more popular than Trek - WHO knows what it is? Doctor Who, of course. The series which first aired in 1963, three years before Star Trek, follows the adventures of a rogue time lord - known as the Doctor - and his companions. They travel through space and time using the TARDIS, a blue police box that was common in England in the mid-60's. So why are we talking about Doctor Who on our Star Trek podcast? Because the tenth Doctor, and one of the most popular, wants a go at Trek. In a Reddit AMA thread, David Tennant - who played the tenth Doctor from 2005 to 2010 - was asked which franchise he would most like to “Cross off his acting bucket list, Tennant responded ”Star Trek would be great. After talking to George Takei for the podcast I've got a bit immersed in it.”. According to SyFy.com, the podcast Tennant was referring to was “David Tennant Does A Podcast With....”.   There were several suggestions on who the former Who should play, but Trelane and Q both received quite a bit of Buzz. Q would be apropos, as SyFy points out. The Borg - which were introduced in the episode “Q Who” - were based on Doctor Who's Cybermen. Photo Courtesy of SyFy.com Star Trek Gaming News by Shane Hoover and Thomas Reynolds Star Trek Timelines: “Plateau of Tomorrow” From Thursday, August 20th to Monday, August 24th, Star Trek Timelines plumbs the darkest depths of the 20th century with the “Plateau of Tomorrow” Faction Event for the Dominion, Terran and Klingon Empires. The second part of The Capitoline Wolf story, this event features the new 5-star "Brigitte" Torres, 5-star Alicia Travers, returning 4-star Incognito Kirk, and recurring 5-star Humanoid Figure event crew. Equally new is the 5-star Aenar Jhamel faction reward, which will feature in the following week's “Whistles and Canaries” Galaxy Event. Star Trek Adventures: It's Good to Be Bad There are no villains who don't have their reasons, said Mr. Welles–and now, there are eight fewer villains who don't have stats either. The latest release for Modiphius Entertainment's Star Trek Adventures, “Iconic Villains,” turns eight of Trek's most celebrated baddies into fully playable non-player characters. The 15-page PDF-only document sells for US$5.22 for your tabletop gaming needs, and the accompanying miniatures set will set you back US$52.34 once Modiphius has more of them to sell. However one of the featured foes is none other than Q himself, which makes us wonder: what does God need with a stat block? Check-Out Time for Trexels II If you've been interested in developer YesGnome's Trexels II mobile game, but never got around to playing it, you have until the end of this month to get it in gear. On August 14th, YesGnome announced on Facebook that “the time has come...to part ways.” Trexels II will no longer be available on the Google Play or Apple App Stores as of September 1st, but it is not going away entirely. The game servers will still be maintained after that date “until further notice.”

Gigantikus orchideák rántják a Coppelius felszínére a helyszínre érkező La Sirenát, a váratlan esemény pedig a Hetes vezette borg kockát, valamint a Soji nyomában lévő Nareket sem kíméli: míg Elnor és Hetes továbbra is a felszabadított dolgozókkal marad, Picard és legénysége a szintetikusok városát keresi fel, ahol a Dr. Jurati által közvetített világvége-üzenet egy új és drasztikus lépésre ösztönzi a száműzött társadalmat. Aktuális adásunkban a Star Trek: Picard ’Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 1’ című epizódjáról beszélgetünk. Rövid hírszekció: • Külön blu-ray kiadáson érkeznek az eddig bemutatott Short Treks epizódok: a gyűjteményen a Runaway, a Calypso, a The Brightest Star, a The Escape Artist, a Q&A, a The Trouble With Edward, az Ask Not, az Ephraim & Dot, és a The Girl Who Made the Stars kapott helyet. A Children of Mars nincs rajta, valószínűleg majd a Picard első évadához kapjuk meg. • Nichelle Nichols búcsúbulija a koronavírus miatt július másodikára halasztódik.

In Gaming news, we sit down with Star Trek Online Lead Designer Al “Captain Geko” Rivera and review the latest happenings in the Star Trek gaming multiverse…. Then, we look On Screen to episode 8 of Star Trek Picard - “Broken Pieces” Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we'll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: Who is your favorite Rios - the original or one of his Holograms? AND CQ: Did you catch our interview with Al Rivera about “Measure of Morality”? What did you think? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Santiago Cabrera On Rios and the Holos (Not a band...but it should be) This week's “Star Trek: Picard” -  “Broken Pieces” - gave us a clearer look at La Serena Captain, Cris Rios. SYFY Wire sat down with the man behind Rios and all of his holos, Santiago Cabrera, to talk about the many faces of the haunted Captain. Cabrera told SYFY Wire that he didn't want the holos to be a gimmick ”There had to be substance to it. What hooked me and what I loved about it was the psychology behind a man who is alone and happens to be with these versions of himself. It's better when you can reveal something about a character without saying too much.” The portrayal of so many holograms likely wouldn't have worked if not for clear distinctions...like those glorious accents. ”They said: 'What accents can you do?' and I said, 'I can do anything!' Which was mostly true. Some accents are very easy and accessible for me”. That includes Emmett's, the Spanish speaking Tactical hologram. But, according to Cabrera, the Scottish accent proved a bit more difficult ”That was the one I had to work on the most.  Michael [Chabon] really wanted to do an homage to Scotty, so he was like, 'Can you do Scottish?' That was a tricky one. So I got a Scottish friend of mine to help read the lines with me. I just made sure I had the lines down very, very early. It was one of my favorites because I had more time with it.” For more of the interview, which includes Cabrera's preparation for playing the jet-setting Rios, and his thoughts on working alongside Sir Patrick Stewart, follow the link in our show notes. SyFy Wire With Jonathan Frakes Busy week for SyFy wire. They also sat down with Actor, Director, and fan-favorite Jonathan Frakes to talk about what it was like to get back in front of the camera as Will Riker. Frakes admitted that, like co-stars Jeri Ryan and Jonathan Del Arco, finding his former role's voice was challenging. Only through collaboration with showrunner Michael Chabon was the 67 year-old Star Trek veteran able to find his cadence. ”I had very long, very specific conversations with Michael about Riker's turn-of-phrase. For every scene. He slipped me the script early, and I worked on it for a long time. We had a line-by-line, word-by-word process. He understood completely and what ended up on the page was a total collaboration. I didn't change the story, but I changed certain rhythms. I'm not sure if they felt more like Frakes or more like Riker.” Regarding the Troi-Riker's long-running relationship, Frakes said ”At the beginning of The Next Generation, Troi and Riker were lovers before they transferred to the Enterprise, and then that [story] was buried so that they could be whatever — available to relationships with random aliens. But, we held onto this relationship and insisted to each other that we maintain it. And as a result —I think — it resurfaced in the final movie [Nemesis] in which the two characters were married. It was very important, this relationship, we take it very personally and we feel wonderfully vindicated to see them return.” Frakes, who is also involved BEHIND the camera, gave an update on Star Trek's other show, Discovery. ”As we know, they've gone 930 years into the future. And in that is optimism. Certainly for Michael Burnham.  She's had a life-changing experience over the break between seasons. The new season isn't driven by fears of the past. It's driven primarily by this second chance that the crew of Discovery is given. It's brighter. More complex. I think it's thrilling.” There was a lot covered in the interview - including his directing Picard and fans reception of Trek's two newest series. Follow the link for a closer look! Buttigieg V Stewart On March 13th, former Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg took the reigns of Jimmy Kimmel Live. During the episode, Buttigieg - a well documented Trekkie - interviewed Sir Patrick Sterwart - before challenging the legend to Star Trek trivia In a segment titled “Who's the Captain Now”, Buttigieg and Stewart answered questions from former TNG co-star LeVar Burton.  The inquiries ranged from “The title of Star Trek: The Next Generation's first episode” to “the character that made Picard facepalm”, and ended with Sir Patrick winning - barely! It was a fun segment, and worth the watch if only for the ribbing Burton gives to both Stewart and Buttigieg. Short Treks To Get Home Video Release If you haven't watched Star Trek's “Short Treks” because of their limited distribution, you'll soon have the opportunity to partake in the bite-sized trekisodes! Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Shane Hoover This week, we were joined by very special guest Al “Captain Geko” Rivera - Star Trek Online's lead designer. In addition to discussing the state and future of the game, we also had the privilege of playing Star Trek Online's newest mission - “Measure of Morality: Part One”. Be sure to Trek out our livestream on Youtube, and keep an eye out for Part II coming soon.  STO Behind the Scenes Cryptic Studios have announced an upcoming special video premiering on YouTube March 23rd. The video, titled “Behind the Scenes: Measure of Morality”, will offer viewers a glimpse into the minds behind the 10th Anniversary episodes. Sitting down for the round table discussion will be Sr. Content Designer Jesse Heinig, Lead Designer Al Rivera, Lead Environment Artist Scott Boyd, Animator Weston Pierce, and Environment Artist David Lopez. These Cryptic developers will each offer their takes on the episodes and their experiences contributing to the development process. New Additions To Mudd's Market Star Trek Online's “Mudd's Market” section of the C-Store will be running another 80% off sale from March 19th through March 23rd.  Mudd's Market offers players a chance to use Zen to purchase items that were previously exclusively available during past Events or Giveaways. With “regular” pricing on the Market being prohibitively high, these recurring sales are the expected windows of opportunity for players looking to pick up these items.  And like with previous sales, Mudd's Market is adding new items for this iteration. Joining the Market are the Kelvin Timeline Admiral Uniform, the T6 Vulcan T'Pau Scout Ship, and the Terran Guerilla Combat Armor. The Kelvin Timeline Admiral Uniform is a costume option that was originally a giveaway during the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek back in 2016. The T6 Vulcan T'Pau Scout Ship was the free prize ship during last year's 9th Anniversary event. And the Terran Guerilla Combat Armor was originally rewarded for initial completion of the “Peril Over Pahvo” Featured Task Force Operation in March of 2019. Cryptic Studios Special Message Cryptic Studios released a special message to players on Monday, March 16th. In the message, Cryptic speaks to players about how the current pandemic response is affecting the studio. While the studio is taking steps to protect its staff, their intentions are to keep all games running by working remotely. The message closes with /QUOTE/ We appreciate your understanding while we adapt to both ensure a positive play experience for all of you and keep our studio family safe. /ENDQUOTE/ In another Tweet posted by Star Trek Online, they informed players that the Tribble and Redshirt test servers will be unavailable to the public for at least a few weeks. This week on Priority One --- Santiago Cabrera discusses Holos, Frakes reflects on finding Riker, Pete Challenges Pat to Trivia, and Short Treks gets a Hard Copy. In Gaming news, we sit down with Star Trek Online Lead Designer Al “Captain Geko” Rivera and review the latest happenings in the Star Trek gaming multiverse…. Then, we look On Screen to episode 8 of Star Trek Picard - “Broken Pieces” Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: Who is your favorite Rios - the original or one of his Holograms? AND CQ: Did you catch our interview with Al Rivera about “Measure of Morality”? What did you think? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Santiago Cabrera On Rios and the Holos (Not a band...but it should be) This week’s “Star Trek: Picard” -  “Broken Pieces” - gave us a clearer look at La Serena Captain, Cris Rios. SYFY Wire sat down with the man behind Rios and all of his holos, Santiago Cabrera, to talk about the many faces of the haunted Captain. Cabrera told SYFY Wire that he didn’t want the holos to be a gimmick ”There had to be substance to it. What hooked me and what I loved about it was the psychology behind a man who is alone and happens to be with these versions of himself. It's better when you can reveal something about a character without saying too much.” The portrayal of so many holograms likely wouldn’t have worked if not for clear distinctions...like those glorious accents. ”They said: 'What accents can you do?' and I said, 'I can do anything!' Which was mostly true. Some accents are very easy and accessible for me”. That includes Emmett’s, the Spanish speaking Tactical hologram. It was one of my favorites because I had more time with it.” For more of the interview, which includes Cabrera’s preparation for playing the jet-setting Rios, and his thoughts on working alongside Sir Patrick Stewart, follow the link in our show notes. ”I had very long, very specific conversations with Michael about Riker’s turn-of-phrase. For every scene. He slipped me the script early, and I worked on it for a long time. We had a line-by-line, word-by-word process. He understood completely and what ended up on the page was a total collaboration. I didn’t change the story, but I changed certain rhythms. I’m not sure if they felt more like Frakes or more like Riker.” Regarding the Troi-Riker’s long-running relationship, Frakes said ”At the beginning of The Next Generation, Troi and Riker were lovers before they transferred to the Enterprise, and then that [story] was buried so that they could be whatever — available to relationships with random aliens. But, we held onto this relationship and insisted to each other that we maintain it. And as a result —I think — it resurfaced in the final movie [Nemesis] in which the two characters were married. It was very important, this relationship, we take it very personally and we feel wonderfully vindicated to see them return.” Frakes, who is also involved BEHIND the camera, gave an update on Star Trek’s other show, Discovery. ”As we know, they’ve gone 930 years into the future. And in that is optimism. Certainly for Michael Burnham.  She's had a life-changing experience over the break between seasons. The new season isn't driven by fears of the past. It’s driven primarily by this second chance that the crew of Discovery is given. It's brighter. More complex. I think it's thrilling.” There was a lot covered in the interview - including his directing Picard and fans reception of Trek’s two newest series. Follow the link for a closer look! Buttigieg V Stewart On March 13th, former Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg took the reigns of Jimmy Kimmel Live. During the episode, Buttigieg - a well documented Trekkie - interviewed Sir Patrick Sterwart - before challenging the legend to Star Trek trivia In a segment titled “Who’s the Captain Now”, Buttigieg and Stewart answered questions from former TNG co-star LeVar Burton.  The inquiries ranged from “The title of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s first episode” to “the character that made Picard facepalm”, and ended with Sir Patrick winning - barely! It was a fun segment, and worth the watch if only for the ribbing Burton gives to both Stewart and Buttigieg. Star Trek: Discovery – Short Treks, Season 2 Episodes 4 & 5: Ephraim and Dot/The Girl Who Made the Stars We’re back with not just another episode of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast! No, not at all! That’s because this is episode 47!!! This time, Ruthie and I cover the fourth and fifth Short Trek of Season 2: Ephraim and Dot, which was written by Chris Silvestri & Anthony Maranville, and directed by Michael Giacchino; and The Girl Who Made the Stars, which was written by Brandon Schultz and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi. Both of these animated Short Treks were released Thursday, December 12, 2019. We aren’t separating these… We decided not to release these as separate episodes because we didn’t get a lot of feedback on them, especially The Girl Who Made the Stars. Therefore, we’re releasing them as a single episode. Fred’s Pics! Fred from The Netherlands was kind enough to collect a LOT of images for these Short Treks. Therefore, we use them to tell most of the story! First of all, we have some feedback on the last two Short Treks… We had feedback for the last two Short Treks and the episodes in which we covered them, The Trouble with Edward and Ask Not, so we start off with that. Short Treks Season 2 Episode 4 – Ephraim and Dot This one used two “characters” that were introduced on Star Trek: Discovery: The tardigrade from Season 1 (assuming it’s the same one), and the DOT-7 that we saw in the season finale of Season 2, Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2. It’s told in a Tom & Jerry style. We didn’t really agree about this episode. Ruthie didn’t care for it at all. I loved it, but I had one major continuity problem with the Short Trek. More on that in a bit. We start with black and white images… To start, we get an old film to start with. Would they have this in the 23rd Century? I don’t think so because that’s not even a thing today, but that’s a minor point. We begin…

Ask Not. Starfleet has a tradition of testing its members: Kirk and the Kobayashi Maru, Wesley Crusher and the psych scenario, Deanna Troi and her command test are examples. These trials are designed to judge character, loyalty, and the ability to make decisions. When serving aboard Captain Pike's Enterprise, the drill is no different. In this episode of The Edge, hosts Amy Nelson and Patrick Devlin discuss the latest episode of Short Treks, “Ask Not.” We delve into the many types of coercion used by Pike is his attempt to get Cadet Thira Sidhu to break her orders and go rogue. We question if this was too harsh compared with previous tests we've seen in Star Trek and recognize that even Pike believes it was extreme and inhumane. It’s week five of The Mandalorian and Disney+’s much heralded bounty hunter/single dad swings by the familiar world of Tatooine for an episode that gets a bit more critical assessment than its predecessors. Lastly, we take a moment to recognize a few significant passings in the Star Trek universe including television pioneer D.C. Fontana. Thanks for Listening!

This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: Have you seen the new Short Trek, "Ask Not"? What did you think? AND CQ: Would you pay $48 to experience the Star Trek Discovery Away mission for 26 minutes? Do you plan on going to the VR experience in the future? TREK IT OUT by Shane Hoover Discovery Season 2 Deleted Tilly Scene The second season of Star Trek Discovery released this week on Blu-Ray and DVD. In a teaser last week on the IO9 website, CBS released an exclusive deleted scene featuring Tilly and her Mycelial parasitic pal, May Ahearn. The scene opens on Tilly trying to ignore the mysterious May by reading a PADD. May peeks around the edge and grins. Tilly, exasperated, tries to flee to the bathroom of her quarters, only for May to suddenly appear in that room. Clearly on the edge, Tilly declares that she can't be in the Starfleet Command Training Program if she's mentally unsound, to which May quips "Well that hardly seems fair!". May argues that Tilly's mind works in “Fascinating ways. I'm inside it, feeling the throb of your neurons, the rush of hot oxygenated blood coursing between hemispheres.” To which a confused Tilly responds, "Are you coming on to me?"  May convinces Tilly to help her in her quest to observe and speak to the Captain. She promises that she can help Tilly reach her ultimate potential and change the universe for the better. Once she's gotten her message to the Captain through Tilly, May swears she'll be gone. And the scene ends.  The Season Two Blu-Ray release boasts over four hours of special features, including behind-the-scenes featurettes, cast and crew insights, and two of the show's Short Treks - "Runaway" and "The Brightest Star". If this deleted scene is any indication, some great material from Season Two wound up on the cutting room floor! Captain Pike Short Trek Teaser StarTrek.com dropped a sneak peek at the upcoming Captain Pike centered Short Trek, "Ask Not" this week. As Pike narrates that the Enterprise has picked up a distress call from the U.S.S. Bowman, we see a young Starfleet officer in red working frantically at a console. Suddenly, the two wall displays behind her explode in a shower of fire, smoke, and glass. The scene fades to black and announces that the Short Trek would release on November 14th. Next, we see Pike himself declaring to someone offscreen, "I need you to let me out of here." We see an officer in gold, presumably Pike, being led by two guards through a bulkhead door in restraints and a black hood. Next, we see a dark-haired young woman declare that he's a prisoner whose orders carry no weight. An angry Pike barks "Cadet! I am giving you a direct order to release me!" The cadet refuses, and Pike warns that she will never see the inside of a starship again. Ominous music swells as the scene cuts to the Short Treks logo and the date November 14.  There are plenty of sudden cuts and one-sided conversations in this teaser.  So it's possible, even likely, that the relationship between the captive Pike and this cadet will not play out entirely as it seems. What's certain, though, is that Anson Mount's Pike will find himself in chains and in peril aboard another Starfleet vessel. Is he the victim of a trap? Was there a mutiny or piracy aboard the U.S.S. Bowman? What are Number One, Spock, and the Enterprise doing to rescue their Captain?  If you haven't already, check out the Short Trek now on CBS All Access. Star Trek: The Animated Series Leaving Netflix Streaming giant Netflix announced this week that all seasons of Star Trek: The Animated Series will be removed from the service on December 1, 2019. This announcement applies only to Netflix viewers in the United States, for now. The show, which aired for 22 episodes over two seasons, has been carried by Netflix since 2016. Though there has been no announcement, it seems likely that the show will be moving to CBS All Access after it leaves Netflix. While not widely considered essential Star Trek viewing, the Animated Series carried on the tales of the U.S.S. Enterprise where TOS left off. Almost the entire original cast returned to voice their characters for the show. If you're a Trek completist who hasn't yet seen it, or if you just enjoy the wilder side of Trek explored by these animated stories, you can still catch it on Netflix for now. Anthony Rapp's Engagement Star Trek Discovery actor Anthony Rapp took to Twitter this week to make a big personal announcement. He tweeted “So something happened tonight. I asked Ken if he would marry me and he said yes. I am so very happy, and I'm so very thrilled to share this news” The tweet was accompanied by a smiling picture of the happy couple. Voices of actors and fans from around the Star Trek world chimed in to share their best wishes. Everyone here at Priority One Podcast would also like to send our very best wishes and congratulations to Anthony and Ken! Captain Spock Statue Are you a die-hard collector of Star Trek merchandise? Then you might be interested in a brand new exclusive Captain Spock statue announced for pre-order by Sideshow and Darkside Collectibles Studio. According to the announcement it is “Recreated from original CBS Studio Inc. archived materials and through a thorough examination of the original filming costumes the statue features a breathtaking likeness of actor Leonard Nimoy as Captain Spock of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE as he appears in the Paramount Pictures STAR TREK II The Wrath of Khan film directed by Nicholas Meyer in 1982. Leonard Nimoy, posed in the official Starfleet salutation, measures over 25 inches and is presented in an authentically sculpted detailed captain's costume. The statue captures the noble feeling and character of Spock and is accompanied with the United Federation of Planets flag.” The statue is truly amazingly detailed, capturing one of Nimoy's greatest performances as Spock in one of the most beloved Star Trek films. Two versions are available, one with Spock's hands behind his back, and another depicting Spock in the act of the famous Vulcan salute. The statue's $1299 price tag might deter all but the most determined collectors, though. This week on Priority One, we Trek Out Star Trek's New York Comic con offerings, before heading to the Paley Center Red Carpet for interviews with the cast of Star Trek: Discovery! In Star Trek Gaming, #TrekOut the in-game events for Star Trek Online and the latest updated to Star Trek Fleet Command. Then, we look On Screen for our review of the latest Short Trek, "Q&A." Later, we hear from you in feedback! Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we'll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: What was your favorite piece of Star Trek news from New York? Was it the trailers, the release dates, the newest Short Trek? AND Now that the new STO Patrol UI has had a little time to settle in, how do you feel about the new system and the new Patrols? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan New York Comic Con - Star Trek: Discovery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8wy08KcdI4 If you wanna wake up in a city that doesn't sleep  - then you go to New York City. BUT if you want to start spreading the news - well - you ALSO go to New York City. That's exactly what Star Trek's Discovery and Picard teams did for the Star Trek Universe panel, hitting Madison Square Garden on Saturday October 5th. At 1PM Eastern, Discovery's producers and stars, including Michelle Paradise, Heather Kadin, Alex Kurtzman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz, and David Ajala, took over the Hulu theater at Madison Square Garden. While the team was - predictably - tight-lipped, they did shed a little light on Discovery's romp 930 years into the future. Series lead Sonequa Martin-Greene gave insight into the direction of the season, saying “That's what so exciting about season 3 is that when we jump to this future that is full of uncertainty, like we've all been saying. We have to grapple with how that's going to affect how we see ourselves, and then how we're going to navigate this. And sometimes it's ugly, and uncomfortable, and inconvenient, and hurtful - but duty calls.” Trek rookie, David Ajala, told the Madison Square Garden audience that we'll meet his character, Book, straight away ”Cleveland Booker, you'll meet in the first episode. You'll see early interactions between Cleveland Booker and Michael Burnham. It's slightly unorthodox but very exciting” New York Comic Con - Star Trek: Discovery Teaser Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46ec8WnBHes But that's not all! The Discovery team brought a goodie for the NYCC crowd - Discovery's FIRST Season 3 Teaser Trailer! The one minute and ten second video, which ends by promising the new season in 2020, can be found in our show notes! Red Carpet Interviews From Paleyfest We caught up with several of these Trek Stars at PaleyFest NY during a Red Carpet event! Let's TrekOut our follow-up questions for Doug Jones, Sonequa Martin-Green, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, and Wilson Cruz! A huge thanks to Sue from Women At Warp for rushing to the Paley Center after a panel at the Javits Center to back me up on these interviews!! Be sure to #TrekOut their latest episode featuring an interview with Kate Mulgrew! New York Comic Con - Star Trek: Short Treks But that's STILL not all! Kurtzman referenced short treks, then said “Last season, obviously we had Captain Pike and Spock and Number One, and that was an incredible - I think - journey for everybody. And we heard you loud and clear how beloved those characters were and are, and so we did a bunch of Short Treks with them. The first one is actually dropping this very moment. It's LIVE right NOW.” And it did. But we'll discuss that in ON SCREEN! A schedule was also released for the remaining five Short Treks. Following the already released episode titled “Q&A”, … and  will continue on October 10th with “The Trouble with Edward", November 14th with “Ask Not”, December 12th with “The Girl Who Made the Stars" and "Ephraim and Dot”, and will end on January 9th with “Children of Mars”. At the end of the trailer for “Q&A”, fans cheered and, as seems to be the case EVERY time Spock, Pike, and Number One are referenced, there were calls for a Pike-led series with a response from kurtzman saying “Yeah. I love that idea. We'll bring it to the board” New York Comic Con - Star Trek: Picard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FySrgrKJguE About 45 minutes into the panel, the Discovery team was tagged out by the Picard cast and crew.  Kirsten Beyer, Hanelle Culpepper, Heather Kadin, Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Alex Kurtzman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Allison Pill, Harry Treadway, and Evan Evagora took the stage - and said less about what's to come in “Star Trek: Picard” than the Discovery team did of their show. The plot and characters of the highly anticipated series are under lock-and-key, but Sir Patrick brought goodies of his own - “Star Trek: Picard's”  SECOND trailer! The team did spend a good deal of time sharing their memories of the show's genesis. Originally, brainstormed to be a #ShortTrek featuring Picard, it immediately grew into something bigger. But, according to Akiva Goldsman it was a hard no from Stewart. Alex Kurtzman: “Patrick walked in the room and was very reserved and gracious, as always, but very unsure.” Akiva Goldsman: “Wait No No. He wasn't unsure. He was sure. He said no.” Alex Kurtzman: “He was sure about saying no. He was positively negative about the whole thing.” Akiva Goldsman: “Yeah that was a No. I know a no.” Later, Stewart spoke about the importance of ensemble --- and how, this cast truly came together … saying “Well, you have used the word that has been most important to me since an April day in 1987. I looked on every aspect of Next Generation as being ensemble based. And in fact that has been very much an indicator of where I was in my career. That the ensembles that I've worked with whether they were in the theater, or film, or  television have always been, to me, like another character. What the ensemble actually amounts to. And so I think when we first met and talked in those early discussions it was my use of that word as the ensemble and the uniting of the group. Because here we sit. Well I can only speak personally, kind of in love with these people on my left...and of course the people on the right too. And that's where the ensemble element comes from and it's very important.” Perhaps the most telling piece of the creative process they shared was about how they did not want this to be a TNG reunion show. Every character, every choice they made, had to influence and propel the story forward. “A big concern was we did not want it to be, and especially Patrick did not want it to be a TNG reunion show. And I think what you can even tell from the trailer, and what you'll definitely tell when you watch the series is, we only brought people back if their story really mattered to the story we were telling. We didn't want it to be like ‘Whoop, and then over here is Riker', you know, because I don't think the fans would have appreciated that either. And it was really important to Patrick, who obviously has long-standing, deep relationships with these people, that also if we're going to go to them and say ‘join a show that's called Picard' that we give them something significant to do. And I think that you'll see that each one of them has a pivotal emotional story to tell in our ten episodes.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Shane Hoover Events The Mycelial Crisis Hits Consoles Star Trek Online: Awakening, along with the new Event UI, Patrol UI, and new Patrols launches on Consoles October 15th. The Mycelial Crisis Event brings with it all of the rewards we've discussed on the show previously, like the T6 Elachi Qulash Frigate, 8 Elachi Crescent Wave Disruptor weapon packs, daily scaling Bonus Dilithium, and more. The Kobayashi Maru Returns to PC The Kobayashi Maru is stranded and in danger… again! From October 17th through November 7th, Captains above level 50 on PC can participate in this Featured TFO Event.  Working with a team of 5 players, complete at least three levels per day of this TFO to earn daily progress. Complete 14 days of progress to unlock the Event prize - a Kobayashi Maru Resupply Beacon Device.  Details of the device have yet to be announced. Priority One Armada News This week in Armada news - a couple more fleets, Alpha and Gamma are getting close to finalizing their Tier V upgrades to their colony holdings. Congrats to those fleets! Also, we have regular events, like TFO Tuesday and special events - like the Halloween Costume Contest - where we are giving away some pretty cool prizes Weekly Top Tip Today's tip can help take some frustration out of a TFO that can be difficult for newer players or uncoordinated teams, specifically the Tzenkethi Front TFO.  The initial objective of the TFO is straightforward: destroy some Tzenkethi battleships to steal their Protomatter bomb devices. Next, you must carry the bomb to within range of one of five Tzenkethi mobile bases and activate the device without being interrupted. This is where the object can become frustrating if you're not prepared to work as a team. Even a single hit from a Tzenkethi enemy will interrupt your activation of the bomb device, making it a long and difficult slog to clear all five bases. But here's how you can be a hero to your next Tzenkethi Front team. Before entering the TFO, equip one of these to your build: the Tethered Non-Baryonic Asteroid ship trait, the Graviton Displacer universal console, or the Tractor Beam Repulsor power with a Graga Mal duty officer to change the repulsor into a pull effect. When your teammate picks up the bomb device, just escort them to the mobile base, trigger your equipped power of choice, and drag the enemy ships a safe distance away until the base is destroyed. You'll want to ensure that you've built your ship with enough toughness to handle any concentrated fire thrown by pulling a group of enemies close to you, of course. Step three, bask in the gratitude of teammates who appreciate your strategic thinking!  As a bonus, similar tactics can prove useful in other TFOs like Gravity Kills or Operation Riposte. Give it a try! Other Gaming News Star Trek Fleet Command Armadas Early this week, the Star Trek Fleet Command social media outlets dropped a new video teasing the release of the Armada feature in the month of October. And within the game itself, details of the new system were outlined in patch 8.0 release notes. According to the patch notes, “Players use an Armada to band together with members of their Alliance to form a greater force that is capable of taking on tougher enemies.” These new enemies appear as Armada Targets within level 20 and higher star systems. They can only be attacked by Armadas, not solo players, and are immune to many combat bonuses and abilities. Defeat these Armada Hostiles to earn Armada Credits and upgrade your Armada Control Center. Leveling up the Control Center will unlock improved rewards in the Alliance store. Beware, though, because as you gather your Armada forces to attack the Armada Target, another Armada could arrive to attack you and take the Target for themselves. For full details, check the release notes in the in-game news system.
