There are a lot of data sensitivities when it comes to marketing in the healthcare and wellness space. This week on Apptivate, we speak with Kevin Bell, the Performance Marketing Lead at Mochi Health, about navigating Facebook's recent changes to events for advertisers in these industries. Kevin gives you the background on the platform's changes, and how his team adapted their marketing strategy to meet Facebook's new criteria under HIPAA compliance. You'll also learn about the limitations of marketing creatives and how they're leveraging AI to optimize their campaign performance and grow.Questions Kevin answered in this episode:Can you share what Mochi Health does and the value it provides to its consumers? What are some of the challenges you face in your role as Director of Performance Marketing for a platform in the healthcare space? Can you give us a sense of your media mix? What's happening with the change of Facebook events for health and wellness businesses? How much of a heads-up did Facebook give you?How did you adapt your marketing strategy? What's the impact of this change on the performance of your campaigns? Can you tell us a little about the limitations of creatives for your platform and how you optimize them for a platform like Facebook? What predictions do you have for this upcoming year at Mochi Health?Timestamp:0:56 What does Mochi Health do?2:19 Challenges in healthcare marketing4:08 Facebook's event changes for health and wellness industry advertisers6:19 How to adapt your marketing strategy for Facebook events7:57 How has this impacted campaign performance?8:43 Constraints on creatives in the healthcare space9:55 Optimizing creatives with an internal AI tool13:08 What's coming up for Mochi HealthQuotes:(4:34-4:58) “Facebook reached out to a number of companies that were in the health and wellness space and basically told them that we were no longer able to optimize our campaigns off of any type of purchase event, add-to-cart event, customer registration – basically any event that wasn't a ‘page view'. And obviously, that's quite concerning because for all advertisers, if you ever run money on Facebook, you know that optimizing for anything that's not your goal is not going to get you anywhere.”(6:49-6:58) “The idea is you want to make sure that you're not sending Facebook any details towards who is a person that has actually made a purchase because by doing so, you're walking into potential HIPAA compliance issues.”Mentioned in this episode:Kevin Bell's LinkedInMochi Health
In our first episode of the new year, Leilani and Kirsten sit down with former Victoria Supreme Court Justice Kevin Bell to examine Australia's housing challenges and their global implications. Drawing on his 15 years on Victoria's highest court and his book "Housing: The Great Australian Right," Bell explores the realities of intergenerational housing access and its broader impacts on society. From young families navigating the market to older women facing housing insecurity, he illustrates how housing systems reflect our collective values—and how they can be reshaped. As both a former judge and lifelong advocate, Bell presents a practical case for change through human rights legislation. His conversation with Leilani and Kirsten weaves together climate considerations, gender equity, and housing affordability, offering a look back at the history of housing in Australia, and a clear vision for building housing systems that work for everyone. You can find Kevin's book, The Great Australian Right, here.Support the show
Australia's “housing disaster” could soon turn catastrophic, says former Victorian Supreme Court justice Kevin Bell. To counter this, the nation needs not just legislative action but also a reframing of our collective mindset to view housing not as the great Australian dream but as a fundamental right. In this special episode, hosted by Jerome Doraisamy, the editor of REB's sister brand Lawyers Weekly, he is joined by the Honourable Kevin Bell AO KC, former justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria and patron of Tenants Victoria. Discussing why housing is no longer a dream for Australians but rather a “nightmare”, the former judge reveals his upbringing in social housing and motivation to see an overhaul of our housing system. Send me a messageToday's guest is a special one, and a little shorter than normal. Kevin Bell's prestigious career is incredible - in 2024 he received an award of Officer of the Order of Australia for his 'distinguished service to the law and to the judiciary, and to human rights through education and reform. For fifteen years from 2005-2020, Kevin was a Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, where he sat in all divisions of the court. During that time he played a pivotal role in the implementation and operation of the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 within the Victorian legal system. He was the Commissioner of the Yoorook Justice Commission from 2021 to 2023, and is also the inaugural patron of Tenants Victoria. His CV, credentials and achievements are immense, but today he is on the show to talk about his excellent but harrowing book Housing: The Great Australian Right. If you're in Australia, you know people here have a pathological obsession with it. From owning it, renovating it, watching shows about it, scrolling property search apps, talking about it, going to Bunnings seemingly at every opportunity. That's barely the picture though - Australia is in the midst of a housing disaster, one where there has never been more homeless people in this country, more people in insecure housing, more people in unaffordable housing and never as much mortgage debt. The system is fundamentally broken in just about every way for the majority of Australians. Yet the debate about the problem is reduced to mediocre and divisive arguments about supply, immigration and funding. Kevin's book is a must read, one I cannot impress every single one of you out there get a copy of and read. It's informative, moving and imaginative. It paints a picture of the historical context of housing in Australia and how this disaster has materialised as a form of slow violence over years, decades and centuries, going back to colonisation, terra nulius and the implantation of the British property system. As a person who experiences a version of housing insecurity - someone who is having his rights adversely affected - this is personally very important to me. It should be to every single Australian - housing is the foundation of every individual's prospects in their life and for their human rights to be protected, respected and fulfilled.I'm conscious human rights can often seem like something fluffy, soft, unnecessary. How is it though that Australia is the only western liberal democracy without a Bill of Rights or Human Rights Act? Why is it that every major governmental or corporate mess or the results of royal commissions seem to be rooted in the simple realisation that the rights of the affected people were dismissed, harmed or violated? Kevin talks about human rights simply being noted by Australians - be that in legislation or in corporate policy documents. Housing, the climate crisis, aged care, First Nations peoples, domestic violence - each of these complex problem fields and many others are underpinned by a misunderstanding, a complacency or a dismissiveness of what we all hold valuable and expect as humans - our inalienable rights and fundamental freedoms are protected, respected and fulfilled.Until next time, thanks for listening.Today's show is delivered with Altiorem. Former supreme court judge Kevin Bell argues we need to reconsider our housing priorities.
Australia's “housing disaster” could soon turn catastrophic, says former Victorian Supreme Court justice Kevin Bell. To counter this, the nation needs not just legislative action but also a reframing of our collective mindset to view housing not as the Great Australian Dream but as a fundamental right. In this episode of The Lawyers Weekly Show, host Jerome Doraisamy welcomes the Honourable Kevin Bell AO KC, former justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria and patron of Tenants Victoria, to discuss his new book – Housing: The Great Australian Right – and why housing is no longer a dream for Australians but rather a “nightmare”, his upbringing in social housing and motivation to see an overhaul of our housing system, and why housing needs to be viewed as a right for all persons across the community. Bell also unpacks the four-pronged disaster currently facing Australia's housing system, recalibrating the national mindset about housing as a right rather than an investment or commodity, what a national plan can and should look like and why legislation is needed instead of policy, our collective duty to view housing as a human right, and whether he is optimistic that Australia can avoid catastrophe. You probably receive an electricity bill every month from your local utility and, after complaining about it, dutifully pay it. But do you ever stop to read your electricity bill? If you are a customer of PG&E and, maybe, a local community choice aggregator, you receive 6 pages of unintelligible, closely-spaced text, numbers, graphs and acronyms. As Groucho Marx might have said, “This is so simple, a PhD could read it. Run out and find me a PhD!” Join host Ronnie Lipschutz and Kevin Bell on Sustainability Now! when we offer “A Talmudic Exegesis: Reading and Interpreting Your Electricity Bill--A Talmudic Exegesis:.” You will learn why your local utility pays a wholesale price of only about 3 cents per kilowatt hour for renewable electricity while charging you 50 cents! You'll learn about PICA, which is not a small animal but, rather, the “Power Charge Indifference Adjustment.” And you'll find out why your bill seems to be rising ever upward and why the newly-announced fixed charge, due to show up on your bill next year is unlikely to make it stop rising. You can find a handout here, to be followed along with the broadcast: A Guide to Reading your Electric Bill.

In this week's episode, I sit down with Mr. Kevin Bell and we discuss the topic of alcoholism, how it affects the brain and daily lives of most Americans. Mr. Bell was very open about his journey through alcoholism and at the time of the recording, he was 52 days sober! I appreciate Mr. Bell's honesty throughout this recording. One important thing I took away from this recording is that a person has to want to quit drinking for themselves; no one else can want it for them. We discuss his early days working for session drummers, how he got his first gig on the road, and how he (and I) both ended up working with Duran Duran for the past 12 years. Kev and I have had countless conversations about life, music, and sometimes nothing at all, and now you get to listen in on one of them!
It was almost impossible to live like this Hello everyone! My Name is Kevin Bell, I'm 24 and what about to tell you might sound pretty weird, but it's the truth… I'm very different from anyone else. I have this deformity, it's not a big one and maybe you wouldn't notice at first sight. However, it's very difficult to live with it. Mom somehow wants to make me think that its a part of me I should be proud of and that I'm blessed for being unique. Yeah, right! It actually feels like a curse, to be honest. The KBRT logo can be seen on GAA jersey's from Crossmaglen to Kilcoo and even across the water in San Francisco. The little bird emblem is significant for Kevin Bell's parents Collie and Eithne whose charitable organisation, The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust [KBRT] is their son's legacy. Kevin was killed in a hit and run car accident in New York in 2013 and it took a network of family, friends and the community home and abroad to gather the funds needed to repatriate his body home to his loved ones in just three days. The extraordinary generosity of those who donated to the Bell family at such a horrific time of grief inadvertently led to Collie and Eithne establishing KBRT. The charity has brought home the bodies of over 1300 people from around the world since then. For this week's podcast, Collie explains how it all began and how the charity evolved over the years. He talks about his son Kevin and how KBRT is not only his legacy but also cathartic in some ways for his family. On a happier note, Collie and Eithne did have a little bit of luck a few years ago and Collie tells us all about that too…

If you had asked me in 2004 if there was a good cross over detector for gold and CRT, I'd said no. Today not so much so. There are a few viable X-over detectors out there but make sure you are choosing what you need. DO not go detecting wondering if you made the right choices especially when your in the field. That is not the time to be questioning your detector.THIS IS A NEW Podcast. Radio Show #35, December 27, 2020: As you may have read in a number of places, not only is the ocean full of plastic, we are literally living in an ocean of plastic microparticles falling from the sky. Before you know it, we will all be “Plastic People of the Universe.” On this show, Sustainability Now! addresses this and related topics. Ronnie Lipschutz and Kevin Bell, co-founder and co-director of the Sustainable Systems Research Foundation in Santa Cruz, discuss the biodegradability of plastics and which ones don't really break down. Along with a raft of SSRF volunteers and interns, Bell has been conducting research into the plastics recycling dilemma and the diffusion of plastic through the environment and also looking for ways to make sure that take-out containers and utensils are truly biodegradable and compostable. If you'd like to read more about the plastics problem, here are three recent publications of interest: "Choked, Strangled, Drowned: The Plastics Crisis Unfolding in Our Oceans," Kimberley Warner, et al., Oceana, November 2020. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ cab.clickify(); }); Original Podcast with clickable words https://tinyurl.com/yagzgm42 1,000 people who died abroad have been abducted by a charity. 1,000 duine a bhásaigh thar lear curtha abhus de bharr carthanais. Multimedia Journalist A charity in Newry, Co Down, set up seven years ago, has announced that more than 1,000 people who have tragically died abroad have been brought back to Ireland for burial over the area. sin. Iriseoir Ilmheán Tá sé tugtha le fios ag carthanas san Iúr, Co an Dúin, a bunaíodh seacht mbliana ó shin go bhfuil breis agus 1,000 duine a bhásaigh go tragóideach thar lear tugtha ar ais go hÉirinn acu lena n-adhlacadh i gcaitheamh an achair sin. Colin Bell, who co - founded the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust with his wife Eithne, says they are delighted to have achieved this great milestone and are honored to do the work in memory of their son. Deir Colin Bell, a bhunaigh Iontaobhas Aisdúichithe Kevin Bell in éineacht lena bhean chéile Eithne, go bhfuil siad an-sásta an chloch mhíle mhór seo a bhaint amach agus gur mór an onóir dóibh an obair a dhéanamh i gcuimhne ar a mac. In June 2013, her son Kevin was killed when he was knocked down by a car in New York. Kevin was 26 years old. I Meitheamh na bliana 2013, maraíodh a mac Kevin nuair a leag gluaisteán é in Nua-Eabhrac Bhí Kevin 26 bliain daois. He was a dancer, a footballer and a young man who was very offended. Rinceoir, peileadóir agus fear óg a raibh an-chion air ab ea é. However, bringing his body home was expensive and the people of Newry raised € 150,000 at the time to help their families meet this cost. Bhí costas mór ag baint lena chorp a thabhairt abhaile, áfach, agus bhailigh pobal an Iúir €150,000 ag an am chun cuidiú lena mhuintir an costas seo a ghlanadh. "After Kevin 's death, the people of the area were so good to us. "I ndiadh bhás Kevin, bhí muintir an cheantair chomh maith sin dúinn. They collected so much. Bhailigh siad an oiread sin. It was natural that we would use the money to help others. Bhí sé nádúrtha go n-úsáidfeadh muid an t-airgead chun cuidiú le daoine eile. We have brought people home from all over the world. Tá daoine tugtha abhaile againn ó gach páirt den domhan. We can take that stress away from family. Thig linn an strus sin a bhaint ó chlann. We can say - you don't have to do anything else, we will make the arrangements and pay for bringing the person home, "said Colin. Thig linn a rá - ní chaithfidh tú rud ar bith eile a dhéanamh, déanfaidh muid na socruithe agus íocfaidh muid as an duine a thabhairt abhaile," a dúirt Colin. Before the Bell family founded the repatriation charity, there was no such thing north or south. Sular bhunaigh teaghlach Bell an carthanas aisdúichithe, ní raibh a leithéid ann thuaidh ná theas. They have repatriated over 1,000 bodies from 61 countries to every county in Ireland in seven years. Tá aisdúichiú déanta acu ar bhreis agus 1,000 corp ó 61 tír go dtí gach aon chontae in Éirinn le seacht mbliana. In some cases, the cost can be up to € 15,000, depending on the circumstances of the death. I gcásanna áirithe, bíonn costas suas le €15,000 i gceist, ag brath ar chuinsí an bháis. Gathering is not enough and Colin and Eithne 's family, as well as the general public, often raise money for the foundation as a token of gratitude. Ní neart go cur le chéile agus is minic a bhailíonn daoine muinteartha Colin agus Eithne, chomh maith leis an ngnáthphobal, airgead don fhondúireacht mar chomhartha buíochais. "Because of the support that we receive, we are able to continue the work that we are doing. "Mar gheall ar an tacaíocht a fhaigheann muid, tá muid ábalta leanúint leis an obair atá ar bun againn. We are honored and privileged to do it in Kevin 's name, "said Colin Bell. Is onóir agus is pribhléid dúinn í a dhéanamh in ainm Kevin," a dúirt Colin Bell.

Dr Kevin Bell | Founder of Digital Education Analytics, Education Consultant at KPMG In this video (part 1 of 2), Dr Kevin Bell explores how higher education is facing increased competition from industry disruptors, with pressure on Australian and global universities to invest in more flexible learning modalities to meet evolving workforce needs. According to Kevin, the recent global pandemic has put a spotlight on tertiary degree shortcomings and the disconnect between the level of job preparedness of graduating students as perceived by academics, vs CEOs. The latter are less convinced about the availability of job-ready students, and he cites universities’ limited collaboration with industries to enable learning in real-world environments, as a missed opportunity. Kevin deep-dives into the concept of ‘competency-based education’ and ‘micro-credentialing’ as evidenced in MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and Google’s recent unveiling of their own learning academy to substitute a 3-4 year degree. He raises the fundamental question of whether such learning approaches can make students competent to perform their future jobs more effectively and in a shorter amount of time. If we are to interpret micro-credentialing as taking the core elements of traditional degrees and packaging it more efficiently, will such learning delivery miss out on peripheral benefits, including soft skills? He notes the distinct value of face-to-face teaching compared to a wholly online experience, and suggests the need for educational training that engenders a balance of technical and social skills for well-rounded professionals. #turnitin #academicintegrity #integritymatters
Dr Kevin Bell | Founder of Digital Education Analytics, Education Consultant at KPMG In this video (part 2 of 2), Dr Kevin Bell continues his discussion on disruption in the higher education sector and the viability of alternative learning modalities such as micro-credentialing. He reinforces the sentiment that universities can either innovate themselves to meet evolving workforce demands, or wait to become irrelevant. In forecasting the growth and potential ascendancy of skill-based learning platforms, Kevin acknowledges the resistance to non-university accreditation. The proxy for employers is still the piece of paper that accompanies a standard 3-4 year degree, imbued with the prestige and reputation of the institution. However, he predicts that demonstrable competencies will win out over these traditional expectations in securing buy-in from organisations and employers. According to Kevin, building integrity into the credential will be key, and that workforce demands will help shift thinking on learning delivery. He speculates whether the current fixation on which institution a student gets their learning from and how that learning content is delivered, will yield, ultimately switching the focus to the outcomes of that content and what it enables students to do. Kevin circles back to the idea that future learning modalities must be anchored by rock solid assessment and deliverables. #turnitin #academicintegrity #integritymatters
Over four decades ago I stood on a ridge overlooking a huge Desert and suddenly felt overwhelmed. I had only been out a few times on my own and honestly, they were not the most successful trips I had made. I decided to create a box in my mind's eye with compartments and each compartment was a step to the end goal of mining all the while building confidence. These steps have saved me hundreds if not thousands of hours aimlessly wandering looking for gold, over getting on the gold with less effort. Today the box is a spreadsheet and before going from one the next, it has to be checked off and complete. There is a sense of pure accomplishment when you work a plan and it ends in not just gold but really really good gold measured in dollars per yard over specks in a pan.
Kevin Bell gives a big "Thank You" to a prospector for not prospecting and leaving some of the best gold that they have found on their Thursday Mining Day under his tailings. Of course, this leads to training about trending, $$$ per yard, visual prospecting above and below the ground level and the failings of us old-timers for letting new prospectors follow some of the rules of thumb. In December 2019 Kevin and I shared the prospecting that you could do within the 300-foot buffer in selected California waterways. This time we open up the rest of the land with the opportunities awaiting all prospectors at 301 feet. Along with offering tips on maximizing your gold recovery when and where drawing water is not the best option for recovery.
The first 3 GPAA Gold & Treasure Shows were a great opportunity to introduce show goers to some new equipment and some equipment that has come back onto the market for prospecting. Kevin Bell and I talk in depth about new and old gear designed to help you find and recover more gold.

With the new email addresses pending KB and I invited listeners to send in their questions and comments. The response to the invitation generated a lot of questions and one very frustrated new to detecting, Detectorist. I cover my thoughts on his detector and what I believe may be the problem and answer a couple of other great questions from prospectors about recovery methods and detecting soreness and fatigue. Plus a special announcement about the future plans of the On The Gold podcast.
Over the last four months, the On The Gold Podcast has grown faster than I ever expected. The listeners and subscribers have far exceeded what I even conservatively estimated and for that, I say Thank You.2020 Will be the Year of the Prospector. KB and I drop a couple of hints as to what to expect. We have two more Podcasts to see 2019 out and bring 2020 in then it is time to buckle up. Have a safe and enjoyable Christmas with family and friends. I'll be heading out early for my yearly Christmas day prospecting adventure. Looking for another Christmas Nugget to add to the poke.
Kevin Bell, Chris Ralph and I sat down to talk about Rules of Thumb associated with prospecting and when they do and more importantly when they do not apply. I have been very open in saying that the 3 major Rules of Thumb can be truly detrimental to new prospectors and that teaching or even discussing these 3 as if they are facts, causes many new Prospectors to just give up.
Our guest is the living Harlem, NY doppelgänger version of legendary fighter Kimbo Slice. As a NY basketball protegè he came up playing with the Riverside Hawks alongside a variety of NY basketball phenoms that would go on to dominate around the city. He attended Rice High School where like Voltron he would join forces with area notables like Kenny Satterfield, Andre Sweet, Kyle Cuff and Andre Barrett. With this squad they ran the table and took home back to back city + state championships. He later went on to attend Westark Community College, Monroe College and finished out his playing days balling ferociously at Bowie State University. Plop down on the bench and take a listen to our conversation with Kevin Bell. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast and tell a friend! Fluid Dynamics may sound a bit complicated (which it was on his side) but on your side, the end result is that you will recover more gold with any sluice, highbanker or dredge by following one extremely simple "four word" formula.
