The Ultimate Guide to Improving Your Life in 2025 - Jordan Peterson
Author Oliver Burkeman's new book offers readers a reality check on their own limitations - and reveals there's benefits to knowing how finite life is. Meditations for Mortals: Four Weeks to Embrace Your Limitations and Make Time for What Counts tells readers there's a limited time frame to get everything done - and that it's okay to embrace your personal limitations in reaching your goals. Burkeman says people often distract themselves by thinking about the 'one day' in the future where they'll be on top of things and figure out their lives, but that day often never comes. "It sort of keeps alive that fantasy where maybe we don't have to feel what it is to be a limited, finite human - which is uncomfortable to face, the truth." As humans we tend to be pretty impulsive, and that's because we are driven by emotion. The stronger the emotion, the more impulsive and reactive we will be. Since neurodivergent people have troubles processing and since we are more sensitive to emotion, we will often do and say things using emotional fuel that is not great at creating results that we actually want. This is why I implement the 24 hour rule. The 24 rule is a way of allowing an urge and allowing an emotion in your body, while not choosing to take any action. This is not always easy, but it is always a benefit. When we implement this in our day to day life, our relationships improve, our careers improve, our self-talk improves, and our LIFE improves.Take a listen to see how this might benefit your life and possibly create some pretty amazing results moving forward. It can be easier than you think.Ready to take this work to the next level? The next step is to book a Free Strategy Session with Amanda. You can book that HERE: https://amandahess.ca

“In the meantime,” is an oft-used phrase describing the moments, weeks, or months between now and an important occurrence in the future (e.g., “We're moving this fall, but in the meantime we need to get things organized”). The phrase dates to the 14th century referencing an intervening time, building on the assumption that nothing particularly important will occur during “the meantime” (mean as in average or in-between time). But what if “in the meantime” is where the biggest opportunities present themselves in our lives? What if the time I'm wishing away in anticipation of the upcoming “important” time around the bend is actually where the doors will open – but only if I'm tuning in? 360 seconds. 6 minutes. 1/10th of an hour. Just 4 tenths of 1% of our day.Can it make a difference? Can it be THE difference leading toward a life of meaning, purpose & impact? Don't real life changes involve hours of preparation and ongoing work? Or could a 360 second window of time open us up to a new world of opportunity?Welcome to a special episode of the Catalyst 360 podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Brad Cooper, CEO of Catalyst Coaching 360, and if you're a regular listener you know most our episodes generally run about 40-60 minutes. The growth of the podcast tells us you like that approach so we'll continue doing so… usually. But we also know that sometimes you're not looking for a full length episode. You just need a boost – something short and sweet that you can pop on as you step outside for some fresh air, make your morning coffee or prepare your lunch for the next day. With that in mind, we're going to occasionally release something new here on the Catalyst 360 podcast – the 360 Boost. These special episodes will be no more than 360 seconds – that's 6 minutes or less – and they're intended to provide you with a boost in your day, a spark to jumpstart that next project, or a little encouragement to live life more fully. So let's jump in – can 360 seconds really make a difference? To answer that, perhaps the best place to start is to examine this window within the context of the 4 Catalyst Cornerstones: Move – Fuel – Rest – Connect.Looking for weekly tips, tricks and turbo boosts to enhance your life? Almost every mature woman on this earth has a menstrual cycle and many of those women will have menstrual cycles on a monthly basis for an average of forty years of their lives. But knowing these facts has not helped society at large come to better understand the menstrual cycle and how to track it so that women can be functioning at their highest energy levels and resting at their lowest. Thus, so many women feel defeated because of their menstrual cycle and are therefore not reaching their highest potential. Coach Jody Long focuses on coaching women with ADHD and chronic overwhelm. In her work with these women she has found that having them track their cycles and learn their body's natural ebbs and flows can help them perform better and understand themselves so they can have compassion instead of self loathing. She and Heather talk about the importance of women tuning into their bodies' natural cycles and how doing so can make women the best experts on their bodies. This episode is enlightening and it's not just for women. Men listen up and see if you gain any insight into the energy cycles of the women in your life. To go a bit further, catch yourself and don't complain to your kids! Not about them, not about your husband, your mother, their clothing, nothing. This is HARD, but you can do it! If your husband is your sounding board when he gets home from work (which is totally understanding), try to end the conversation with a few positives from your day! Take a little time to throw in some positives, because it can be hard (as a husband) to get excited to spend time with the family when they get all the negatives right when they walk in the door. Sprinkle in some good things, and try to do it within ear-shot of whichever kid it applies to!Finally, click here to get your FREE Holiday Planner!
