For the Glory KC is back with the 140th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City returned home to a not very warm welcome from the Seattle Sounders. After getting out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, Sporting KC managed to claw their way back and nearly earn a point but ultimately fell 3-2.Kerry Zavagnin made some halftime adjustments, and his strikers went out and earned penalty kicks and drained their chances in the second half. It just wasn't enough to overcome the large deficit. National media was alight with the various visualizations of the 3+ xGD that Sporting KC gave up in Commerce City on Friday night, yet they still came home with the 2-1 victory. We talk about some of those underlying numbers, how they belie a concerning trend of likely unsustainable results and the context within how they have happened.We also talk through the biggest areas of need on the roster as the summer transfer window opens. A lot of it is dependent on how the club means to play going forward, and so much of that is in flux given the lack of certain Front Office personnel that it is very hard to predict. But we give our ideas on what we would do if given the decision making authority.The USMNT looked much the inferior team vs. Mexico in the Gold Cup final, but given the discrepancy in first choice talent, perhaps it wasn't as big of a concern as many are making it out to be. Monday's Club World Cup delivered shocking late drama! Inter Miami looked set to top Group A after leading Palmeiras 2-0 through Tadeo Allende and Luis Suarez, but conceded twice in the final 10 minutes to finish second and face PSG in the Round of 16. Paris Saint-Germain cruised past Seattle Sounders 2-0 to advance, while Atlético Madrid won 1-0 against Botafogo but were eliminated for not winning by enough goals. Plus, FC Porto and Al Ahly played out an incredible 4-4 draw that eliminated both teams.Looking ahead to Tuesday's crucial Group C and D finales: Chelsea must beat Espérance de Tunis after the Nicolas Jackson red card disaster, while Boca Juniors need victory over Auckland City to avoid shocking elimination.
