From the annals of long-forgotten animation, Kevin presents, for your consideration: Bionic Six, a 1987 cartoon starring a family of cyborg heros taking on the nefarious Dr. Scarab. Directed by Osaka Dezaki—the man behind such animes as Space Adventure Cobra, Takarajima (Treasure Island), and the Golgo 13 movies—this show looms large in Kevin's memories, despite being largely forgotten.

This month's episode is another short ReView! What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Well, it's my highly-clever (ok not really) name for episodes where I go back and revisit an older title I haven't seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that some time's gone by. This month, while I dream of the upcoming Dirty Pair bluray set, let's revisit some other space adventuring troublemakers from the same universe! That's right, it's 1983's Crusher Joe: The Movie! But will this movie crush it, or will it crush my heart? Ok, ok...lets drop the puns and check it out in this month's rewatch.Stream the episode above or [Direct Download]Subscribe on apple podcasts | Google Podcasts | SpotifyRelevant links:Buy Crusher Joe The Movie at Crunchyroll Store or AmazonUncovering the Guest Designers of Crusher JoeOther anime mentioned in this episode: Dirty Pair, Space Adventure Cobra, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Venus WarsMy theme song music was done by Kerobit! The fate of the Seventh Galaxy hangs in the balance on today's episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake. Released in 1982, Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie is a hallmark of science fiction anime. The cocky, cigar-chomping adventurer known as Cobra was thought to have died two years ago. Equipped with a brand new face and his powerful Psychogun, Cobra teams up with the beautiful bounty hunter Jane Flowers. Jane wishes to save both her sisters and her home planet from the tyrannical Pirate Guild. The guild is led by the luminous Crystal Bowie, who has a score to settle with Cobra. Bowie already has Jane's sister Catherine under his control, and that might be enough to enact his cataclysmic plan. Cobra must battle the forces of the Pirate Guild while facing the otherworldly destiny that the Royal Sisters have in store for him. We advise our listeners to wear the fuzziest jacket possible for today's exciting installment of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake! Episode Notes The original 5 podcast episodes combined to equal around 5 hours and 30 minutes. This podcast compilation makes it 4 hours and 30 minutes. Most edits were the TV theme (and its other international versions), most intros and extros of ourselves, some off-topic conversations, along with the many, many rants of Space Adventure Cobra that appeared in every single episode. ON THE SEVENTY-FIRST EPISODE OF THE BOMB SQUAD PODCAST: Ethan, Tim, Austin and special guest Shaybs (known also as the Youtuber Caribou-kun) discuss the 1982 animated science fiction film by Osamu Dezaki, Space Adventure Cobra. Based off a popular manga, and the precursor to a TV series, did the infamous space pirate Cobra shine in this cinematic medium? Inspired by a whole bunch of old spy movies and science fiction serials, does this animated adventure achieve the right balance of style and substance? It's a good day for good hips as Evan and Victoria discuss Space Adventure Cobra, the made-up Japanese holiday Good Hips Day, Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie, and the Monogatari series. Then it's question time, and this week our hosts get to answer TWO relationship advice questions! Show Notes As Phase 1 of the "Library Expansion Project," Crunchyroll licensed Space Adventure Cobra and Cat's Eye. After we recorded we also got Yakitate!! Japan, Space Pirate Mito, Princess Knight, and Fantastic Detective Labyrinth! Victoria wanted to talk about "Good Hips Day" and the fan art from the artist behind Chaika just to make Evan uncomfortable. Evan saw Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie in theaters (it's the follow-up to Arise). Victoria is watching the entire Monogatari series (and blogging about it)! Both Evan and Victoria are keeping up with The Perfect Insider, which has recently hit some exciting highs AND some disappointing lows. You can find more episode of Crunchycast on Crunchyroll, YouTube (yes, we're back on YouTube), iTunes, Stitcher Radio, and our Libsyn page. The Crunchycast is hosted by Victoria Holden and Evan Minto and edited by Bill Zoeker. If you have any questions for our hosts, you can reach us at crunchycast@crunchyroll.com, or on Twitter at @SailorBee and @VamptVo respectively. The opening and ending music in Crunchycast are produced by Noah Hafford, who can be found at his SoundCloud.

Baby, sometimes we just need some time away. So, we took a month off after the Christmas Craptacular. Then about another six weeks after this episode was recorded, we took some more time, because we're all nerds and therefore, lazy. However, to make up for the time apart, we're back with a big two part episode! In part 1 (or, according to MLS - Megazone Language Style, PART 1) we review Voltron: Defender of the Universe and crap on our childhoods and then kick it up a notch with a review of the Space Adventure Cobra film from 1982.
