As Alissa has said time and again, we're all perfectly lopsided puzzle pieces, a part of this larger puzzle, or threads in the larger tapestry. We have just relaunched this show and what better and more-fitting episode to start with than to invite Kari Romeo as our opening guest because she is everything that this show embodies. Kari is no stranger to limiting beliefs, fears, and self-doubt. Before all the success, she's dealt and struggled with insecurities—much like we all do. Today's episode is truly inspirational and a real testament that what you believe, manifests. I hope that by the end of this episode, you find the power to reframe your thoughts and experience the beautiful transformation that Kari and myself had the opportunity to, and together, let's claim our successes. About Kari Romeo Kari Romeo is a transformational life coach, she's a motivational speaker, a personal transformation and mindset seminar facilitator. She's also a retired Air Force officer—a decorated one, mind you—a life coach, and author of the new book, Becoming Beautiful: A Personal Journey Towards Happiness. She enjoys speaking with groups, organizations, and businesses about using the positive power of appreciative inquiry to achieve success.   Kari’s Top 5 StrengthsFinder Themes:   Connectedness Positivity Empathy Individualization Maximizer     Key Takeaways So many people are trudging through life instead of bouncing joyously through life. We're meant to live fulfilling joyful lives. If we're not, then it's time to let go of whatever's holding us back and be happy. We each are our own color of thread in the tapestry of life. It's the little shifts of perspective which help us to live more fulfilling and joyful life. Time-Stamped Show Highlights [00:53] Getting to know our 'relaunch' guest. As small business owners, when we start our business, the ultimate goal is to hit a certain figure and be successful, which is what we had always imagined it to be. Anytime that happens, we celebrate and give ourselves a tap on the back for a job well done. But mind you, celebrations can often be short lived, and soon we find out that while we were still high on the success, the stress and challenges were keeping up too. New level, new devil—as I’d like to say. This episode today tackles the issues and challenges that a seven or six-figure business deals with. I asked my friend Chris to come and join us today. He has willingly shared two major drawbacks that he’d experienced, and together, we will share with you how you can take this challenge head on, what systems and processes to employ, keeping that check and balance, that way we can keep problems at bay or from resurfacing. There’s a lot in store for you in this episode; so clear your head, prepare your pens for some serious note taking because what we share here today might be helpful for you today, or in the future.   About Chris Taylor As President & CEO of Actionable.co, Chris Taylor helps business consultants bring learning sustainment and measurable behaviour change to their client engagements.  As the host of iTunes #2 ranked business podcast The 21st Century Workplace, Chris regularly hosts conversations with the world’s leading thinkers on leadership, change management and employee engagement, bringing his trademark curiosity and humour to the complex topics of business strategy and professional management. Chris has penned over 150 articles on aspects of our new world of work, and is a regular speaker on stages domestic and abroad.   Chris’ Top 5 StrengthsFinder Themes:   Futuristic Strategic Communication Activator Positivity   Listen in Now! [need iTunes URL] Key Takeaways If you feel that the business objectives of the organization you work for are aligned with your personal objectives in a truly deep, meaningful way, that does nothing but positive things. The real challenge is taking a pause, how to take one or two ideas, and how to apply those in your life in a way that has lasting impact. Understanding how those strength themes are wired can help you redirect it. Work with people that are doing powerful work in their own space and find a way to support them in their work. Hone in on the craft of presenting, and organizing, messaging around stories, and how to make that meaningful for the audience. The more people you have, the harder it is to get everyone across. Time-Stamped Show Highlights [01:20] An intro that made our guest glow. [03:42] A look at Chris’ background and history.“It’s not the sort of make-money-while-you-sleep but having a thing that people can consume on their own time.” [06:43] What is Actionable?“We actually take concepts and convert them into something practical, something actionable.” [11:33] That one tough call Chris made but paid-off well. [12:19] How did Chris make that single greatest decision?“When I started the business on day one, there was two things I wanted to do with the business.” [13:39] Chris’ brilliant top five strengths [18:14] What is the vision for Actionable?“I would say multifaceted but there’s really two components to it.” [22:44] The two main challenges Chris is facing in his business: growing community and money.“It doesn’t matter what the multiple is, the mindset, the challenges, the mistakes that I’ve made in regards to the small amounts of money just compound.” [24:03] Alissa digs in deeper around Chris’ money issues. I’ve had the surprise of my life discovering that her niche actually really does exist. I assure you guys that you’d be amazed by the discovery as you listen through today’s episode as well.   Now, our guest was in on an exciting discovery as well by the success of something that she just started doing and just seeing if it would work. She’s been astounded with the amount of success she’s had and so quickly. However, having that success so quickly, while it’s a feat for most entrepreneurs, it can also be a source of stress. Our guest is used to just doing thing on her own so she struggles with things from how to build a team, to scaling her business, finding the right person for the job, and the list goes on. We’re going to narrow it down for her into actionable bits and pieces for an effective execution all the while ensuring that she stays at the top of it all, and at the same time, focused on what she does best.   About Carolyn Carpenter Carolyn J Carpenter is the host and cofounder of Hollywood Gatekeepers, an online system to educate and create quality readers for Hollywood. Have you ever had the feeling that you are just bouncing off like a ball trying to get your business established? Our guest today surely has. Starting a business is a challenge, and even more so when you have very limited knowledge on the business side of things, add to it keeping a day job, offering an instructional coaching and working with schools at the same time. Our guest today is torn, for the last three years, between marketing her business or staying focused on her clients that will eventually enable her to reach the ultimate goal. In today’s session, we are going to walk Trish through a process on how she can, little by little, create that shift towards the goal. We’d give her enough pointers to help get herself established, as what I have done in mine when I was just starting. This episode was very inspiring and one of the most valuable episodes I have done. Our guest today truly has a beautiful soul. He’s perfected the process towards financial freedom. However, like so many of us entrepreneurs, he do found himself stuck between doing what he SHOULD and SHOULDN’T do for his business. We have a hard time deciding whether we keep going down this path and be miserable, or go down this other one and be stress-free. We’re stressing about a lot of stuff in both our lives and in business when it shouldn’t be the case.  This episode will sure help you release the stuff that weighs you down and begin to spend more of your energy, time, and knowledge on the things that really matters. About Rennie Gabriel What sets Rennie apart from others in the financial services area is that he has gone from the bottom to the top (more than once). He has owned multiple businesses and held most of the financial industry licenses and professional designations. More importantly, he walks his talk. Following the same steps in his award winning, best-selling book, Wealth On Any Income, Rennie became a multi-millionaire in less than 10 years starting from broke at age 50. Rennie lives on his investment income and donates 100% of his book, training, and coaching profits to www.ShelterToSoldier.org where dogs are rescued from deadly environments and trained as service animals for post 9/11 soldiers who have returned with Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). Rennie’s Top 5 StrengthsFinder Themes:   Learner Belief Responsibility Activator Strategic     Key Takeaways It was a situation where I had decided this is not how I want to live my life. I could fail high school and math and become a millionaire, and it does not prepare you for real life. Those moments that define us–that are our personal rock bottoms–are different for everybody. More money makes you more of who you are. There is this abundance that comes when you are willing to give both yourself and financially. We have a responsibility as entrepreneurs to make as much money as humanly possible. Wealth is a team sport; not a solo sport. Time-Stamped Show Highlights [01:32] Presenting the genius man who became a multimillionaire at the age of 50. [03:51] The rundown on how Rennie started and got to where he is now.“I know what it's like to have no money.” [06:46] The deal breaker moment for Rennie.“I'm going to do anything I can not to have this kind of life.” [07:46] Rennie’s top five strengths that define him. [09:42] The process Rennie had to do to dig himself out of the low point in his life. [15:17] The thing that sets us up for failure, in a lot of ways, as per Rennie.“If you want to create assets that will generate an income, you need to begin saving and investing first.” [19:05] We all have challenges but Rennie’s is an interesting one. [24:08] Rennie’s group coaching program. [29:07] Alissa closes the episode with a very wise advice.“We have a responsibility to make money, to be wealthy, so that the good people that we are, we can give more of that to this world.” [29:56] Rennie’s last words of wisdom for you folks.“I didn't get to where I am, trying to do it by myself.” [30:55] Podcast recommendation of the week! We’re going to establish, point-by-point, on this episode, why you need to start practicing meditation and how you can easily make it a part of your daily routine to a point where it becomes habitual, that you need not be reminded of it. Today’s guest is one who I had an unusual way of meeting—from a cold email to a warm and pleasant relationship. Dayana is an expert in her respective field, and she’s found herself to be in a similar situation as the clients that she’s helping. Yeah, it does happen. We, by nature, are in the weeds of our own businesses. It is for this reason that I always say, coaches do need coaches. Join me as Dayana and I discuss ways on how to collate all wonderful ideas and come up with an overall mission. About Dayana Mayfield Dayana Mayfield is a conversion copywriter and messaging strategist who works with online businesses. Providing clear messaging strategies and copy that sells, she serves startup founders, coaches, and businesses that target digital nomads. With weekly LinkedIn videos, Dayana also educates entrepreneurs on how to connect with their customers using a killer combination of emotion and analytics. Dayana’s Top 5 StrengthsFinder Themes   Futuristic Achiever Positivity Ideation Relator     Key Takeaways No matter what kind of creative skill you have, there's some industry that could use it. Get the confidence and then do it. Everybody chooses their own thing The end goal can be crazy—it’s totally fine—but let it clear up and paint the picture for that future. Our strength themes don't become strengths until they are serving us, giving us energy, and serving others, giving others energy. Time-Stamped Show Highlights [01:17] How we got Dayana onto the podcast, and who is she? [03:09] Finding out what makes Dayana frickin’ awesome.“I have a deep passion which is why I'm just so fired up.” [08:56] Dayana’s beautiful blend of strength themes. [12:00] How did Dayana’s journey happen for her?“Basically, all you have to do is decide you're going to do it and then you'll figure everything else out. All you have to do is get the confidence first and then you'll be fine.” [15:21] Alissa explains why Futuristic (as a number one theme) needs to be satiated.“If the future is foggy, if there is no clear endpoint, it feels very stuck because it needs direction, it needs to know where it's eventually going.” [17:49] A discussion of how important it is to incorporate and utilize all of your themes in all aspects of your business.“Each of our themes have contributions that they uniquely bring.” [21:06] The challenge that Dayana is facing right now and the recommendations on how to better address them.“I want to figure out how to create something that hasn't been created before.” [27:13] The fear of being misunderstood. [33:36] Navigating through the fear.“Whatever task that you might be looking at and sort of dreading, look at it through a lens of the strengths that you have.” [44:57] Podcast recommendation of the week! Welcome to yet another exciting live coaching session with me, Alissa Daire Nelson, your host. Our guest for today has been building her career in music since her 20s. Marie Incontrera has had a really awesome career but the arts don’t always pay the bills. Join me in finding out what made her leap from music to promoting others and discover how she steadily built her business, and how you can glean lessons from her journey to take a leap of your own.    About Marie Incontrera Marie is a social media and publicity expert, speaker, consultant, fitness enthusiast, and jazz musician. Fascinating combo, isn't it?! Her consulting services include social media and online branding service for individuals and small businesses; media bookings (specializing in podcasts); TEDx talk development and speaker booking outreach; and blogging and ghostwriting on platforms such as Thrive, Quora, Medium, LinkedIn Pulse, and more.) Her social media clients have included national best-selling business authors, medical professionals, wellness experts, a popular science-based gaming app, thought leaders, executive coaches, and more. Her speaker clients have booked TEDx conferences around the country, and her media clients have been booked on popular podcasts, and radio shows such as Entrepreneur on Fire, The World’s Most Amazing People, Positive Productivity, and more. Marie’s Top 5 StrengthsFinder Themes:   Ideation Input Intellection Futuristic Significance    Key Takeaways “Your easy is your gift.” Part of what creates our superpowers is not only our formal education but also our life experiences. We all have triggers and it’s important to know how and why we react. We don’t have to get stuck in all the BS that comes along with that one, legitimate concern. Entrepreneurship is a risky thing, but there are things that we can put in place to give us a little bit of breathing room. Learn to get that time for yourself to be able to come up with great, new ideas. Think outside the box and make it a non-negotiable. Let your Significance drive your WHY. Time-Stamped Show Highlights [02:19] Getting to know how Marie took that leap from music to promoting others. I’ve always done social media for my music career. I just sort of was naturally good at it. [06:32] We hear about Marie's StrengthsFinder themes. [08:10] Marie's challenge, and one that is important to address. Something minor goes wrong, and all of a sudden I’m stressed out. [09:34] How does the theme of Ideation function? Ideation is very common in entrepreneurs because we don’t like to be in boxes. [10:59] Writing down your stresses can be helpful. Oftentimes, by writing down your worry, you can have just a little bit of distance from it to actually have a conversation with it. [15:30] What to do when you find yourself saying yes to more things than you wish you would. [20:45] Addressing stress management and the ways to fill your cup When you take that time that you need for you, your ability to be most effective skyrockets. [26:29] Marie's legacy and the significance she wants to leave this world. I wanted to be able to support the arts in a very significant way [31:08] Podcast recommendation of the week! Welcome to the next installment of the Leadership Vision Podcast, where we share our expertise in the discovery, practice, and implementation of StrengthsFinder. Today on the podcast, we're recounting our first experiences with Strengths and sharing three straightforward activities to get more out of your results. While this podcast won't answer all of your, "what do I do with my life" types of questions, it will give you some useful steps to engage with your five Themes of Strength in a meaningful way. The activity we're sharing is pretty simple. It's one that anybody, anywhere, anytime, with any level of Strengths experience or understanding, can use to get more out of their results. We call it the "first thing" activity, which can be a bit misleading because I think it's an excellent exercise to do every so often to continue growing and developing your understanding and application of your StrengthsFinder Themes. Print your long Theme descriptions. Read each description and highlight key phrases, sentences or words. Read through your results again and indicate the words and phrases that aren't resonating. Indicate which words or phrases just don't make sense About The Leadership Vision Podcast The Leadership Vision Podcast is a weekly show sharing our expertise in the discovery, practice, and implementation of StrengthsFinder. Leadership Vision uses StrengthsFinder to work with People, Teams, and Culture. We believe that knowing your Top 5 Strengths is only the beginning. In fact, our highest potential exists in the ongoing exploration of our talents. Subscribe to the Leadership Vision Podcast on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen. Welcome to THIS, our first “success story” episode! Join me as I interview Jon Vroman, a gentleman I can confidently say is showing success in many areas of his life—financial, family, business, relationships and more. About Jon Vroman: Jon Vroman is an author, speaker, and an all-around incredible human being. He grew up in a military family and moved around a bunch, where he honed the skill of adapting and making friends. He was super short in high school, which made him feel insignificant. That pain is what has led him to where he is today—helping someone feel significant—that their life and all their moments matter. Jon helps people live their lives in the front row! Jon’s Top 5 StrengthsFinder Themes: 1. Learner 2. Positivity 3. Woo 4. Input 5. Activator Key Takeaways  Just show up. Showing up for others—doing the best you can with what you have—is where you’ll truly find success.  Ask yourself what you really like to do. Look at your strengths and how you deploy them. This will lead you down the path that is right for you.  When you know your fears and your loves, you know what is pushing you and pulling you.  Sometimes figuring out what ISN’T working will point you toward your superpowers.  You must be open to hearing input from others. And sometimes you must really ask for it.  It’s okay to provide yourself space to be still. Consciously choosing not to do something is doing something!  Identify and even celebrate your failures. It is from your failures that you pull your most valuable lessons. Listen in Now! Time-Stamped Show Highlights  3:38 – Jon’s Front Row Foundation, Front Row Factor and Dad’s Group The idea of the “front row” is a metaphor for getting close to what makes us come alive.  6:41 – Listen in as Jon defines what success means to him  8:15 – How Jon decided to start his own charity instead of donating to an already-existing one  13:00 – Hear Alissa break down Jon’s superpowers  15:05 – Jon’s tips for figuring out your superpowers without StrengthsFinder Ask for honest input from others! Have them answer these questions: “What are three things you like about my life? And what are three improvements you’d make in my life?”  19:26 – Tips to help you stay “open” to feedback and input from others  21:58 – The importance of being still  25:28 – Comparisons, the imposter syndrome, and the like—they do not serve us! “We often compare our behind-the-scenes life to someone else’s highlight reel.”  31:06 – Jon’s circle of support—the people who bring talents that Jon doesn’t have  34:06 – The “donut hole” of entrepreneurship—what it is, how it affects entrepreneurs and Jon’s tips for pushing through it It’s not just about showing up. It’s about showing up better the next time around.  42:25 – Two front-row moments and lessons learned from two failures: The pillars of Jon’s weekly review “I never lose. I either win or I learn.”  45:10 – Insights on mindset and perspective  52:32 – How you can best connect to Jon’s Front Row community Resources Mentioned in This Episode  FrontRowFactor.com  Front Row Foundation  Front Row Factor by Jon Vroman  Slack Frickin’ Awesome Resources  Frickin’ Awesome Entrepreneur Facebook Community  From Frustrated to Frickin’ Awesome by Alissa Daire Nelson  Daire Success Coaching website  StrengthsFinder 2.0 test  StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Rath
