Alissa Daire Nelson is a modern-day superwoman, but not in the way that term is usually used. She is bold and courageous, she takes space when she needs it and models for her girls what it looks like when a woman – who happens to be a mother – follows her dreams and asks for support from her family to get there. I loved learning about Alissa’s early lesson that as parents, we often resort to using our anger and our power (vocal, physical or otherwise) to control situations with our kids that trigger us, and what she chose to do instead. Alissa decided years ago to draw on this quote from Scream-Free Parenting as her guide: “we are not responsible FOR our children, we are responsible TO them.” That sentence has shaped how she, her ex-husband and her current (and last!) husband parent their two girls. Taking radical responsibility for and to herself has meant many conversations and reckonings when things have gone sideways, which in turn has given Alissa’s teen girls permission to mess up and make up, knowing they always have a voice and that they’ll be heard. Alissa talks about how her girls are the best of friends and shares how asking good questions about when things go well has helped the whole family focus on the positive by choosing to engage in positive behaviours rather than harp on the negative when it arises. It’s fascinating to hear how Alissa and her co-parenting team manage their daughter’s potentially life-threatening chronic illness and how they’ve used practical solutions to empower both of their girls in all aspects of life. There’s so much richness in this week’s episode, so be sure to listen all the way to the end and then join the conversation over in the MamaFuel Virtual Village, our free group on Facebook where the discussion deepens every week.  If you’d like to check out Alissa here and on Instagram here.

In today's interview episode, I talk strengths with Alissa Daire Nelson of Daire 2 Succeed.  Alissa is a powerhouse who is trained and certified in Gallup Strengths Testing.  The Gallups Strength Test identifies those areas that each individual naturally excels at.  Alissa has taken her knowledge one level further by helping others not only identify their strengths but teaches them the power of focusing their strengths to promote how they serve others.  The information provided by Alissa can be used to write website copy, promote products and services, help differentiate from competitors and build a team of leaders who have strengths in different areas. Don't Miss These Tidbits: [03:34] Our brain's job with our beliefs is to reinforce them not to break them. So even if we had 100 pieces of information that would, would dispel that belief, all we need is one piece of information to go see, I told you that's accurate. The Strengths Finder profile was 40 years of research and it was repeatable and reliable and all of the research terms that you need to know that it's legit. I needed that because in black and white it showed me I had things that were right with me and I needed that kind of concrete evidence in order to start chipping away at that limiting belief that everything was wrong with me. [09:06] Here's why it's wise to focus on your strengths because we take care of two-thirds of our weaknesses by optimizing our strengths. And then don't ignore that we have weaknesses. We just go, hey, you know what, I'm much better suited over here. I get more done, I can contribute more, I have more energy. I see you are really great at this. It gives us the space to honor and edify and elevate other people in our circle who are gifted at the things that were not. [21:15] There are 34 identified strength themes, and each of them have their own. I personify everything. So they, each of them have their own personality, right? But in your top five, uh, this was what allows you to truly be unique. So in order for somebody to have the exact same top five in the same order as you, and now we're not even talking about six through 34. Okay. This is one in 33 million. Like, you're that unique, right?  [24:43] People can't contribute like you can because they are wired differently and so these are the things that make you uniquely you and again because part of our job is to fill in the gaps of other people's non-strengths. You get to bring those contributions forward and in you're gonna you're gonna draw in your ideal client that doesn't have what you have to offer. [25:08] You get to bring those contributions forward and in you're gonna you're gonna draw in your ideal client that doesn't have what you have to offer. And so not every client is your client and that's actually a good thing. But if you're able to articulate your unique contributions, your unique selling proposition that is going to help you to stand confidently in your own brand and be able to then not compare. [28:38] When you physically pull out your resource guide, it gives you the emotional space to get outside of your jar.  And it gives you the proverbial time for the three deep breaths or the count to 10 moments. And when you look at what your needs are, when you look at what your triggers are, all of a sudden it gives you language around how to ask for what you need or how to put up the boundaries that you need to in so that you can thrive. [32:45] Seven billion people on this planet. Now, if you whittle it down to how many are your ideal client? Maybe you're looking at, I don't know, 100,000. If you're really niched down, you can't serve 100,000 people folks. So it's okay. It's okay that not everybody is your client, um, but, but if you are really specific about what you have to offer, um, now you don't have to worry about that. You can come from a place of abundance Resources Mentioned: Gallup Strengths Test Intro To Awesomeness Daire 2 Succeed Membership Key Takeaways: 1.  Know Your Strengths, Non-Strengths and Be Aware of Strength Overuse (burnout) 2.  Strength Awareness Creates Immediate Differentiation 3.  Your unique contributions help you to stand confidently in your own brand Find Out More About Alissa www.daire2succeed.com Or On Facebook Download Transcript Standing out in a www world can be nearly impossible, which is why you need to clarify who you serve.  If you want to dial into your Ideal Client - Grab this FREE Treat Sheet Love this episode?  Leave Us A Review and Please Subscribe

Alissa Daire Nelson is the founder of Daire Success Coaching and the author of "From Frustrated To Frickin' Awesome: 4 Steps to Achieve the Success You're Wired For". On this interview we will have the opportunity of learning from Alissa's own publishing process from the perspective of a mother that is bringing her own child, or book, to the world. Those are the fun nuggets from today's interview: 1) A book is just like a baby, things start to flow and you start to see some results on the second trimester. But things get real on the third semester where you start struggling with everything and questioning every word you write down; 2) Intellectual property, confidence, credibility, visibility, connection, branding and above all else, clarity. Those are the benefits of writing and publishing a book. "Thoughts disentangle as they pass through lips and fingertips" - Michael Hyatt; 3) You are perfectly lopsided. Being vulnerable simply means admitting that you have challenges too. There's a difference between airing your dirty laundry and sharing some vulnerability. When you share vulnerability, there is a purpose of connecting and a solution-oriented talk rather than just complaining and feeling bad about yourself. If you're going on about how much you suck and how everything in your life is falling apart, there's no point in continuing on like this. You have to find a solution and make things different in your life. - Alissa Daire Nelson JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP | REVIEW THIS PODCAST  20% OFF ORGANIFI - USE CODE: WELLNESSFORCE Ready to discover what sets you apart from everyone else and discover your true strengths? But you have no frickin’ clue how to get there. Fortunately, these things are true: Everyone is uniquely wired for their own success. You are enough. Success is unreachable only if you allow yourself to get in your way. We all too often focus on fixing our weaknesses—on becoming a Jack (or Jill) of all Trades. But in this way, we’re never really great at anything. I say this—weakness-fixing is a waste of time; your Strengths are what will help you stop spinning your wheels and instead spiral up! Are you ready to discover the 4 things that make you so unique? Listen To Episode 181 As Alissa Daire Nelson Uncovers: How she came to specialize as a Strengths Finder after the method helped her through her own struggle with negative thoughts and emotions. What a psychosomatic test is and why it's a reliable method to help you learn what your strengths are and how to develop them. Why she believes that we're all here for a reason, but doesn't believe that things happen for a reason. The vital importance of moving forward positively when something negative happens. The most difficult moment she's ever experienced in her life and how that forced her to take a closer look at herself. What mom guilt is and why many female entrepreneurs are experiencing it. Why she doesn't believe in the theory of work-life balance, but work-life harmony. Why the lesson you have to face will be taught to you at the right moment when you need it the most. How to enjoy the journey while on your way to being healthy or accomplishing another goal. Her own definitions of true vulnerability, authenticity, and honesty. Why it's okay that you're not everything because you're still awesome no matter what. How to show up with the best parts of you by being real and authentic with others. Why you automatically connect with other people when you become vulnerable and share your challenges with them. The 34 strength themes that exist and how you can use them to help you grow your emotional and vulnerability skill set. How to tap into your various strengths whenever you need them. The first steps you can take to become more vulnerable and open with other people in person; not on social media. The SFD Tactic - Your Shitty First Draft and how to rewrite the false stories you're telling yourself in order to uncover the truth about yourself and other people. The power of getting curious about other people instead of judging them to have a better understanding of where they're coming from. Why you have the potential to become great by being the best version of yourself. Power Quotes From The Show "Before I realized what my strengths were, I was always wondering what was wrong me and I was so good at emotionally beating myself up. I was going through a divorce when I found the book, Strengths Finder, which included a psychometric test. That book helped me to see that I did have potential and taught me how to use my strengths to unleash it. Knowing you're great is one thing, but then understanding how to leverage your strengths and apply them to your life is a whole other thing." - Alissa Daire Nelson "We have such a large capacity with this soul, body, and mind connection. I firmly believe that none of us are here as an accident. However, I don't believe that everything happens for a reason. God, a divine power, or whatever you believe in didn't have time to make junk. So, that means that there is something redeeming and amazing about you. I believe part of our journey is to figure out what that thing is and how we get to contribute to our world." - Alissa Daire Nelson "No matter how horrific or wonderful a situation is, you can use that for the betterment of your own life and the lives of other people. Great things can come from every situation, but you have to choose it. You may become the victim of a situation; however, you don't have to remain a victim for the rest of your life. A bad situation wasn't your fault, but it's your responsibility to move forward." - Alissa Daire Nelson "When you're ready to learn the lesson, the teacher will appear. So, you have to be ready for that lesson and be able to face it. Even if you're sort of feeling like a coward because you're so afraid, that can be what moves you forward along this journey to do something magnificent and different. You can start off easy; learning the lesson isn't a race. It's not about the end goal, but about the journey and what you experience from it." - Alissa Daire Nelson "Everybody is capable of greatness, but who's willing to do the work to get there? Greatness is there for the taking for every single one of us. Instead of trying to do something else, why don't you do something that you're great at? We have the potential to become better versions of ourselves every single day. We have to give up this idea that we have to be like this other person and just be ourselves instead." - Alissa Daire Nelson Links From Today's Show Alissa Daire Nelson Twitter Facebook LinkedIn YouTube Daire Success Coaching Facebook Frickin' Awesome Entrepreneur Podcast Episode 004: Dealing with Mom Guilt While Running a Business Maximize Your Strengths Podcast Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg Brené Brown Alison Armstrong Joseph Campbell WFR 129 Gretchen Rubin WFR 118 Mike Bundrant WFR 086 Mark Divine WFR 071 Melissa Hartwig WFR 048 Nir Eyal About Alissa Daire Nelson Alissa Daire Nelson is a dynamic and inspiring speaker, success coach, and podcast host of the StrengthsFinder-based podcast, Maximize Your Strengths. Welcome to yet another exciting live coaching session with me, Alissa Daire Nelson, your host. Our guest for today has been building her career in music since her 20s. Marie Incontrera has had a really awesome career but the arts don’t always pay the bills. Join me in finding out what made her leap from music to promoting others and discover how she steadily built her business, and how you can glean lessons from her journey to take a leap of your own.    About Marie Incontrera Marie is a social media and publicity expert, speaker, consultant, fitness enthusiast, and jazz musician. Fascinating combo, isn't it?! Her consulting services include social media and online branding service for individuals and small businesses; media bookings (specializing in podcasts); TEDx talk development and speaker booking outreach; and blogging and ghostwriting on platforms such as Thrive, Quora, Medium, LinkedIn Pulse, and more.) Her social media clients have included national best-selling business authors, medical professionals, wellness experts, a popular science-based gaming app, thought leaders, executive coaches, and more. Her speaker clients have booked TEDx conferences around the country, and her media clients have been booked on popular podcasts, and radio shows such as Entrepreneur on Fire, The World’s Most Amazing People, Positive Productivity, and more. Marie’s Top 5 StrengthsFinder Themes:   Ideation Input Intellection Futuristic Significance    Key Takeaways “Your easy is your gift.” Part of what creates our superpowers is not only our formal education but also our life experiences. We all have triggers and it’s important to know how and why we react. We don’t have to get stuck in all the BS that comes along with that one, legitimate concern. Entrepreneurship is a risky thing, but there are things that we can put in place to give us a little bit of breathing room. Learn to get that time for yourself to be able to come up with great, new ideas. Think outside the box and make it a non-negotiable. Let your Significance drive your WHY. Time-Stamped Show Highlights [02:19] Getting to know how Marie took that leap from music to promoting others. I’ve always done social media for my music career. I just sort of was naturally good at it. [06:32] We hear about Marie's StrengthsFinder themes. [08:10] Marie's challenge, and one that is important to address. Something minor goes wrong, and all of a sudden I’m stressed out. [09:34] How does the theme of Ideation function? Ideation is very common in entrepreneurs because we don’t like to be in boxes. [10:59] Writing down your stresses can be helpful. Oftentimes, by writing down your worry, you can have just a little bit of distance from it to actually have a conversation with it. [15:30] What to do when you find yourself saying yes to more things than you wish you would. [20:45] Addressing stress management and the ways to fill your cup When you take that time that you need for you, your ability to be most effective skyrockets. [26:29] Marie's legacy and the significance she wants to leave this world. I wanted to be able to support the arts in a very significant way [31:08] Podcast recommendation of the week! About Joni Lynn Nelson Joni is the owner of FLY With Strengths, an individual and team coaching business focused on embracing your Strengths and learning how to reach your peak performance. (FLY is an acronym. It stands for Fully Love Yourself AND Fully Leverage Yourself.) Joni’s Top 7 StrengthsFinder Strengths Empathy Responsibility Deliberative Belief Relator Harmony Developer   Key Takeaways Approach life with an abundance mindset—there really is enough to go around for everyone! Your unique mix of values, education and experiences blend to create your own superpowers. It is so important to find passion in your work! While it is possible to keep finding work you’ve been trained to do, if you don’t have passion for it, you can never rise above. There is always a reason for falling behind on a certain task—it may drain you, it may take longer than you always expect, etc. Figure out what it is that makes you fall behind. The best ways to stay on top of your least-loved tasks are to create processes, block time, and outsource to others if possible. Everyone needs a coach! Someone else can bring a different Strength or see things through a different lens to allow you to see things in a new way. Together we are better! Time-Stamped Show Highlights 2:48 – Hear Joni embrace her Strengths! 6:56 – Transitioning from a corporate setting to coaching individuals In a corporate setting, coaching begins on focusing on teams. My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who you might mistake for Superwoman and if you do, you won't be alone. She is regularly featured on television news segments, inside major blogs and publications, and on podcasts from all over the globe. She's an accomplished Success Coach, Speaker, host of the Maximize Your Strengths podcast, as well as published Author of the hot new book; From Frustrated to Frickin' Awesome: 4 Steps to Achieve the Success You're Wired For. But more than anything else she's an exceedingly proud wife and mother of two, who loves helping others discover how to make their businesses and relationships thrive in harmony. But this was as far from her starting point as you can possibly imagine. Graduating from St Catherine University with a post baccalaureate certificate in Nursing, she entered into the medical profession as a Clinical Dietitian and Registered Nurse before a four year stint as a beauty consultant for Mary Kay So from my viewpoint, she has always had a nurturing side to her character, wanting people to look and feel as good as they can right from the outset. And so you can see that where she is now, is as far away as she could be, but also very similar in concept, she has found a way to maximise her strengths, provide more value to the world and enjoy herself in the process. As she says “While I've always been interested in self-development, in the last 9 years, I dove into investment in my training, self-improvement, and coaching. In addition to classroom style learning, I've gained valuable knowledge from seminars, home-coaching programs, group-coaching programs, one-on-one coaching relationships, books, self-study, and real-life successes and failures. My clients benefit from all of that education and experience wrapped into one business coach!” So people you find what you want to do naturally, your unique strength, up-skill yourself and then solve the problems of others in that area. Seems simple doesn't it? So if this is the blueprint for success, why do so many people struggle with finding their way through the pain and scarcity to make a success of their lives? And when was the moment when she sat bolt upright in bed and screamed “Erueeerka I know what I should be doing in my life!!” Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Alissa Daire Nelson Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Alissa Daire Nelson such as: Why getting to know yourself is so vitally important if you ever want to be the greatest version of yourself that you can possibly be. Why Alissa feels that there is always another devil in another level and it doesnt matter where you are on the jounrey there are scary times ahead. Why masterminds are so uber powerful and an extremely cost effective way to keep you on track and focused on the right results. and lastly…. Why stability in ones life is so familiar and comfortable, and why all entrepreneurs have moments of thinking “Wouldn't it be easier just to get a job?”

Welcome to the first real-life episode of Frickin’ Awesome Entrepreneur! This is me, Alissa Daire Nelson, IRL. I hope you’re ready for this! #FAE #IRL About Today’s #IRL Episode Here I’m talking all things Mom guilt. As a solopreneur, I find it incredibly difficult to keep clear boundaries between my work life and family life. So today I bare all things here to help you see you aren’t alone. And I am joined by my girls, Avery and Annika, for a frank conversation about how my work affects them. Key Takeaways When you’re with your family, you’re thinking about work. And when you’re at work, you’re thinking about family. Turning one off in favor of the other is such a challenge. There is no such thing as work-life balance. Instead, strive for work-life harmony. Both are important; give them both the space they deserve. Placing value on learning from each experience makes such a difference in family dynamics and relationships. The guilt of just not having enough comes up for every entrepreneur. The “should be” and “could be” statements running through your head need to be checked every once in a while. As parents, we get into our own heads about what’s going on and laying on the guilt for ourselves. It is so important to get out of your head and to include your children in conversation about how your work life affects them. Time-Stamped Show Highlights 2:38 – Insight into my daily and weekly work schedule 4:58 – The struggles I feel when it comes to Mom guilt, and them any failures I’ve faced in trying to shut down work time 5:39 – Why I don’t believe in “Work-Life Balance” 7:38 – Meet my girls, Avery and Annika! 10:39 – The girls’ perspectives on pros of having a Mom as an entrepreneur I feel like if you have a work-from-home Mom, you get to see them and interact with them more than you would with a Mom who works outside of the office.  15:42 – Falling into “coach mode” as Mom, and what to do about it 18:02 – My biggest challenge: getting out of the office and letting go of work 19:01 – The girls’ biggest cons of having a Mom as an entrepreneur 23:09 – Strategies for bringing up concerns between child and parent Use Brené Brown’s SFD – the first rough draft of what’s going on in your head. Let Go of Your Limiting Beliefs, and Use Your Strengths to Catapult Your Business. In this episode, Michele interviews Alissa Daire Nelson, certified Strengths Coach, author, podcaster, speaker, and founder of Daire Success Coaching. She works with business owners, CEOs, and leadership teams to identify their superpowers and leverage them in their businesses and lives. Here, Alissa shares how she went from a salaried position as a dietician to a business owner (and how scary, uncertain, and finally successful her journey was). She changed her mindset, and now uses her big “a-ha!” moment (where she shifted her limiting beliefs) to help clients do the same. In this episode, you learn: The difference between running a business and having a hobby. How to stop feeling like you’re not enough (and why you’re so not alone in this feeling!). How you’re wired to perform (everyone is different). How to optimize your strengths rather than “fix” your weaknesses. Three types of weaknesses (plus, how to shift the ones you have). And so much more. Alissa also talks about her own money story that came about as a result of her childhood—that having money was greedy and a sin. While she once judged people with money, she was able to shift her money story by letting go of her limiting beliefs, and enjoy her own wealth. Now, she helps others do the same. Alissa is an expert on strengths and weaknesses, and has built her coaching business around the idea that limiting beliefs (the stories you’re telling yourself), are keeping you from embracing and optimizing your strengths and minimizing your weaknesses. Today our expert guest is… Super Woman? No, it's Alissa Daire-Nelson! But it's an easy mistake to make - and she believes that you have superpowers too. Alissa is an accomplished Success Coach, Speaker, host of the Maximize Your Strengths podcast, and the author of the new book From Frustrated to Frickin' Awesome: 4 Steps to Achieve the Success You're Wired For. Above all, Alissa is an exceedingly proud wife and mother of two who loves helping others discover how to make their relationships and businesses thrive in harmony.   StrengthsFinder Alissa's journey began when she discovered StrengthsFinder, a psychometric tool that Dr. Donald Clifton created through 40 years of research. He comes from the field of positive psychology and, basically, thought people could live happier lives if they focused on what was right with them, as opposed to what was “wrong” with them. The assessment is a tool for identifying your innate talents, but it is only a tool - it won't have a significant impact on your life unless you know how to use it. These talents don't become your strengths until you are using them in a way that gives you energy and serves other people. Learning how to use the tool by yourself can be difficult, though... and hiring a coach can be prohibitively expensive. That's why Alissa started the Maximize Your Strengths podcast: she wanted to provide a resource that helps people more easily use this new tool.   You're awesome, I'm awesome, and we can be even more awesome together. As StrengthsFinder users gain more insight about themselves, they're also better able to relate to others. Alissa really wants to help people understand that you shining bright doesn't diminish anyone else's light. “You shining bright does not have to detract from anyone else shining bright” There's a common fallacy that we should strive to be well-rounded individuals, but we can't be good at everything - it's just not possible. When we let go of that idea, we can work together to maximize everyone's brightness.   From Frustrated to Frickin' Awesome: 4 Steps to Achieve the Success You're Wired For “When you feel good about you, you're able to provide more honor and grace to those around you.”   The 4 Steps: Know thyself. Understand where you thrive, where you don't, and internalize how awesome you are. Create a plan. Now that you know yourself, create a plan around that. Carry out that plan. Reflect on what worked, what didn't work, and what you learned about yourself. Rinse and repeat. If you continually repeat those four steps you will continue to improve, and the best part is that you'll never be done learning about yourself.   The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “You are unique, and you're uniquely awesome - that in and of itself should make you stand taller and live brighter. Spend some time figuring out what those things are because you're worth it, and you didn't end up on this planet by accident.”   Daily Helping listeners can get From Frustrated to Frickin' Awesome for FREE right here.   -- Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. When I first found out that Alissa Daire Nelson was a coach who leveraged the Strengths Finder assessment to help her entrepreneur clients, I did a quiet little eye roll.  I had done that “personality test” before and even though it was interesting, I didn’t really get a lot out of it.  But after being a guest on her podcast - which forced me to take the test again - I was overwhelmed by how practical her analysis was and how easily it seemed to make things fit right into place.   Which is why I’m bringing her brilliance to you!  During this incredible interview, Alissa shares a bit about her business journey and how she ended up evolving into a strengths coach and why she fell in love with it as a tool to help others!  She then gives a quick description of Strengths Finder and what makes it so unique and finally, we do a deep dive into MY STRENGTHS ANALYSIS!     I wanted you to see how practical this tool actually is, so I offer myself as a test dummy for your amusement. ;)  Alissa walks me through two of my biggest strengths and opens the doors to what they mean and - more importantly - how I can structure my business so I can produce maximum results!     If you’ve done Strengths Finder before or if you’ve never heard of it, this episode will help you focus in on REAL WAYS you can take what you are naturally GREAT AT and make those strengths work FOR YOU in your business!   And...a FREE GIFT!   Alissa is giving you her book totally FREE!     From Frustrated to Frickin’ Awesome: 4 Steps to Achieve the Success You’re Wired For   Download it for FREE HERE → http://daire2succeed.com/bizwomenrock And here is where you can take the Strengths Finder (though I highly recommend you get an expert...like Alissa...to help you with the analysis and make it work for you!) → http://daire2succeed.com/profile

As many of you know, I'm currently in the thralls of getting certified in an appreciative inquiry program through L.E.A.F and it's all about owning and leveraging your strengths, in life and business.   It focuses on the idea that when we leverage our strengths together that they outweigh the weaknesses in our systems, personalities and what we put out into the world.   Instead of measuring where we are weak, what if we started measuring where we are strong and focusing more of our attention there?   Well, my guest on the podcast this week cares an awful lot about your strengths and I'm so pumped to share this episode with you.   Alissa Daire Nelson is an accomplished speaker, author, podcaster and Certified Strengths Strategy Coach, but more than anything else she's an exceedingly proud wife and mother of two, who loves helping others discover how to make their businesses and relationships thrive in harmony.   Let’s stop measuring where we are weak, and instead measure where we are strong. That’s how we should be seeing our capabilities and our opportunities, not from where we’re failing and what we need to fix, but from how to do more of what we’re doing well and excelling at.   No matter who you are or where you’re at in your business, this episode will be relevant to you and it might just shift the way you think about yourself, your business and the place you’re at in the world, in a way that could be more beneficial and productive for you.

Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

Strengths and playing to them are key to what makes a successful life. Why Alissa feels that there is always another devil in another level and it doesnt matter where you are on the journey there are scary times ahead. Why masterminds are so uber powerful and an extremely cost effective way to keep you on track and focused on the right results. and lastly…. Why stability in ones life is so familiar and comfortable, and why all entrepreneurs have moments of thinking “Wouldn't it be easier just to get a job?”

After being a Registered Dietitian for 8 years, Alissa Daire Nelson decided to pursue her nursing degree. But after becoming an RN, she drastically shifted course. Now, a Certified Strengths Strategy Coach, Alissa helps entrepreneurs and small business owners catapult their businesses to the next level without sacrificing their sanity, integrity, or personal lives. She's an accomplished Success Coach, Speaker, host of the Maximize Your Strengths podcast, as well as published Author of a hot new book. She's also able to focus on what's most important in life – being a proud wife and mother of two, who loves helping others discover how to make their businesses and relationships thrive in harmony!   Key Insights & Aha Moments * Believe it or not, fear was the primary motivator on Alissa Daire Nelson starting her business * Everything doesn’t happen for a reason, but good can come out of the bad. Something positive can come from any negative situation. * Alissa is always searching for connection and externally processes the things that happen around her. * During her time in health care, she wasn’t great at self-care. Between kids, learning how to be a single-mom and life, it was overwhelming. * Emotional health, though, was always at the forefront and she sought out counseling. * Counseling or coaching doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you have a handle on the importance of working through things in life with support. * Her first entrepreneurial journey failed because she didn’t have the items she needed to succeed. She lacked confidence in herself, but she didn’t give up! * Started working on educating herself on how to be a business owner through books, conferences, webinars, etc. * Than she hired coaches and joined coaching programs, went through the steps and knew the entrepreneurial road was her calling * She won’t take on clients for long-term because she doesn’t want it to be such a comfortable relationship that they’re just getting together for coffee. * There needs to be a constant push for growth. * It’s not a bad thing to have multiple coaches to help you work through different things in your business * She works with her clients a lot on strengths and doesn’t work within any specific industry * Doing her own strength finder was so impactful and life-changing for her, so that is what really changed her course when she was building her coaching practice * Coaching is all about dragging their best self out of them * Her new book is a little bit of self-development and a little bit of productivity blended to keep growing! * The book is intended to be reread to keep growing in 3-month periods! * Get the First Two Chapters Here NOW for FREE, Mavens!   Maven Moment Well, I took a strengths test with Alissa and it looks like I’m working in my A+ zone and my zone of genius! This episode is packed full of great advice and exercises from guest Chris Plough, so grab your notebook and pen and let’s dive in! About Chris Plough Chris Plough equips epic entrepreneurs for the world that is coming. Having succeeded in both realms, Chris Plough connects the art of inspiration with the business of execution to help shape the frontiers of our world. Chris’s Top 5 StrengthsFinder Strengths Strategic Futuristic Self-assurance Learner Activator Key Takeaways In overuse, Self-assurance is arrogant. When beautifully tuned, however, it allows you to have humility. Spend time every day with reflection (Chris does this through meditation and journaling). Identifying your core values starts with noticing and then asking, “Why?” By defining your core values, you can gain incredible clarity, which is one of the most powerful gifts you can create for yourself. We can only do so much for ourselves. It is important to have people with you who are willing to walk arm-in-arm with you who will tell you what is important—whether it’s positive or really hard to hear. The best litmus test for seeing if the world is ready for your new idea is whether people are willing to put money behind their support of your idea. Listen in now! When we talk about the stories of things we create, there are highs and lows. It’s important that we share things where we’ve exceeded, but where are the incredibly rough times we’ve had. That allows deeper levels of connections and deeper lessons for ourselves and those who listen. 7:40 – All of Chris’s Strengths in action 10:08 – How Chris has cultivated his Self-assurance 11:08 – The double-edged sword of Strengths   There are three areas of possible weaknesses in our world, and two-thirds of them come from our Strengths: underuse of Strengths, overuse of Strengths, and areas of non-Strengths.   14:15 – Chris’s core values and how he defined them I spent years exploring what the right path is for me. How can I surround myself with the right voices? A lot of it was personal discovery, people I began to associate and surround myself with and how we helped empower each other. Then it was getting really clear as to what my gifts were, what my mission is, and how I can really help to shape and shift this world. 17:14 – How to find and define your own core values Ask “why” at least three times to get down to a core. Often your cores revolve around things within ourselves are perceived weaknesses. Once you understand them, gain comfort with them and grow with them, they become Strengths. 22:53 – The importance of surrounding yourself with the right people 25:29 – The Johari Window, explained The whole goal is to expand what you know about yourself, as well as what others know about you. Johari Window:  [insert  27:44 – Chris’s best advice to individuals who are ready to get started with a great new idea Allow for brainstorming. Then figure out which ideas you are right for. List out what the positive and negative motivators are for you. List out what is happening in the world positively and negatively to see if it’s ready for your idea. Next, go through this matrix. What is your desire to do this? This goes beyond want into passion. Ask what your need is for your idea. Why does this idea matter? Next, ask what your and/or your team’s ability is to execute on the idea. Finally, is this idea right for this time in the world? In the middle of all of this is an idea that is ripe for execution! 31:58 – The process of determining the right timing for your idea 32:30 – How to identify whether there is a real need for your idea   The simplest way to determining need is asking, “Will the market pay for it?” When someone says, “Yes, your idea is great!” but will not back that yes with a financial investment (no matter how small), tells you something!

Welcome! Today we’re talking to Alyssa Daire Nelson about maximizing your strengths. The introduction to this episode was in last week’s Episode 10. Please listen if you haven’t! Alyssa is a personal strengths coach and the owner of Daire Success Coaching. She helps businesses and solo entrepreneurs maximize their innate strengths. Her greatest joy is seeing breakthroughs occur when people maximize their strengths instead of fixing their weaknesses. I met Alyssa at a podcast conference, where we were both learning about all aspects of our new journeys into podcasting. I was on her show recently and took her strengths test. She’s here today to talk about her work and to analyze the results of my test.  What you’ll hear in this episode: Alyssa shares her “Aha” moment in her early 30’s. The Strengthsfinder Profile test is the product of 40 years of research. The profile test has 180 questions, mostly based on “Would you prefer _____ or ______? It takes about 30 minutes to complete. The profile test helps you identify triggers about others that may “drive you crazy.” Why people are not meant to be well-rounded! We lean into our top 10-15 strengths ALL the time. Each strength has a need, and when the needs aren’t honored, we experience frustration. Alan’s top strengths are positivity, maximize, learner, individualization, and achiever. Alyssa explains each strength and the danger in its overuse. “Two-thirds of our weaknesses are just strengths misapplied.” In maximizing our strengths, we take care of many of our weaknesses.
