In this episode, we discuss Autism and the Default Mode Network. According to Lisa Feldman-Barrett, the Default Mode Network has many names because it has been discovered, named, rediscovered, and renamed many times. I do not disagree with the Science regarding Autism and the Default Mode Network. However, I disagree with the Interpretation of the Data. This IS our Default; our preferred state; the core of the Autistic Phenotype. After listening to this episode and understanding B.3, you can understand MOST of Autism. The only reason you cannot understand ALL of Autism from these two episodes is the amount of Phenotypes branching off of B.3 and our Default Mode. Autism IS preference for ALONENESS and SAMENESS. This minimizes sensations and distractions that interfere with our internal world. This state is NOT abnormal, how society interferes with it makes it abnormal. If you want more Autistics to ACHIEVE, then understand your interaction, interference, and interpretation of what YOU think Autism is provides the delta of how much we are prevented in life. This, of course, becomes slightly different the more profound the Autistic Phenotype is with that specific person. In this episode, we will explore the different brain regions and the goals of these regions as it relates to our phenotypes. We will get into some "Thinking in Picture" and thinking styles. This will be a good time because of a future guest on From the Spectrum Podcast discussing Autism and Creativity. My motivational quote for today is by – Brian Tracy "Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, 'What's in it for me?'" – Brian Tracy. I love this quote; it helps set up today's show topic: Differentiation is the Key to Unlocking Sales. So, how can brands (and their sales teams) differentiate in a crowded marketplace to stand out and drive customer acquisition? The first step is to give first and provide value (not BS), which will build deep relationships and easily create lifelong customers and referral sources for passive income. In this episode of The Scoop, Mizuhara explores the recent hype around tokenized real-world assets and examines some of the hidden risks under pinning this sector of the digital assets market. According to Mizuhara, many purported 'tokenized' T-Bills are not actually providing direct exposure. "I think it's a giant misnomer — it's really dumb that people are calling them tokenized treasuries... People are tokenizing ETFs, people are tokenizing SPVs, they're tokenizing funds — I've literally seen nobody actually tokenizing the Treasuries or the T-Bills themselves." Have you ever felt like an impostor? Some of you, the listeners, wrote in to answer this question. According to Dr. Valerie Young from the Impostor Syndrome Institute, about 70% of you will answer that question with a “yes.” Dr. Young joins us to discuss both the internal and external factors that cause impostor syndrome, as well as what individuals and organizations can do to lessen it. Dr. Ken Duckworth, the chief medical officer of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, also talks to us about why impostor syndrome is not considered a mental health condition but shares how the feeling might be addressed.Learn more about Dr. Valerie Young, her book, The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women, and her work by visiting www.ImpostorSyndrome.com. I'm going straight for the jugular on today's show - while I look at the term "gold digger" and where it gets a basis. Are beautiful women really looking for a luxurious lifestyle? While many men look at the highest status guys and think they are attracting "gold diggers" (and that may be the case irregularly), they fail to recognize the deepest of truths about evolutionary biology. The hard truth is that women were not designed to hunt and provide. Our genetic make up, build, and muscularity leave much to be desired on that front. While we know the world is full of predators, on a subconscious level, we look for a man who can fend them off. These men have the discipline and skills to keep us SAFE - money is simply a biproduct. Sometimes money is used to confuse women into thinking a man is high status (and ambitious) when he is truly peacocking - in many instances a man who show dominance in his domain is paid in status. Women want to move that status closer to protect future offspring - and there's nothing gold digging about a mama bear! Are you convinced? Have any feedback? As always, I love to hear your thoughts. Here's two different ways an AI can turn out unfriendly: You somehow build an AI that cares about "making people happy". In training, it tells people jokes and buys people flowers and offers people an ear when they need one. In deployment (and once it's more capable), it forcibly puts each human in a separate individual heavily-defended cell, and pumps them full of opiates. You build an AI that's good at making people happy. In training, it tells people jokes and buys people flowers and offers people an ear when they need one. In deployment (and once it's more capable), it turns out that whatever was causing that "happiness"-promoting behavior was a balance of a variety of other goals (such as basic desires for energy and memory), and it spends most of the universe on some combination of that other stuff that doesn't involve much happiness. (To state the obvious: please don't try to get your AIs to pursue "happiness"; you want something more like CEV in the long run, and in the short run I strongly recommend aiming lower, at a pivotal act.) In both cases, the AI behaves (during training) in a way that looks a lot like trying to make people happy. Then the AI described in (1) is unfriendly because it was optimizing the wrong concept of "happiness", one that lined up with yours when the AI was weak, but that diverges in various edge-cases that matter when the AI is strong. By contrast, the AI described in (2) was never even really trying to pursue happiness; it had a mixture of goals that merely correlated with the training objective, and that balanced out right around where you wanted them to balance out in training, but deployment (and the corresponding capabilities-increases) threw the balance off. Note that this list of “ways things can go wrong when the AI looked like it was optimizing happiness during training” is not exhaustive! (For instance, consider an AI that cares about something else entirely, and knows you'll shut it down if it doesn't look like it's optimizing for happiness. Or an AI whose goals change heavily as it reflects and self-modifies.) (This list isn't even really disjoint! You could get both at once, resulting in, e.g., an AI that spends most of the universe's resources on acquiring memory and energy for unrelated tasks, and a small fraction of the universe on doped-up human-esque shells.) The solutions to these two problems are pretty different. To resolve the problem sketched in (1), you have to figure out how to get an instance of the AI's concept ("happiness") to match the concept you hoped to transmit, even in the edge-cases and extremes that it will have access to in deployment (when it needs to be powerful enough to pull off some pivotal act that you yourself cannot pull off, and thus capable enough to access extreme edge-case states that you yourself cannot). To resolve the problem sketched in (2), you have to figure out how to get the AI to care about one concept in particular, rather than a complicated mess that happens to balance precariously on your target ("happiness") in training. I note this distinction because it seems to me that various people around these parts are either unduly lumping these issues together, or are failing to notice one of them. For example, they seem to me to be mixed together in “The Alignment Problem from a Deep Learning Perspective” under the heading of "goal misgeneralization". (I think "misgeneralization" is a misleading term in both cases, but it's an even worse fit for (2) than (1). A primate isn't "misgeneralizing" its concept of "inclusive genetic fitness" when it gets smarter and invents condoms; it didn't even really have that concept to misgeneralize, and what shreds of the concept it did have weren't what the pri...

The so-called Respect for Marriage Act threatens the perfectly designed beauty of marriage by putting into law a radically harmful definition that misleads people about the transcendent nature of marriage. In contrast to the harmful consequences that become manifest when something as essential and foundational to society as marriage is redefined, strong marriages recognize and value the way God has created us and our children and create a safe and beautiful family space for the development of children, culture, communities, and nations. Let us boldly stand for marriage and love our neighbors by helping them understand what is lost when they miss out on their Creator's perfect design. Why Ranking Premium Priced Products Is A Misnomer Today I breakdown Premium Priced Products and why most of the time they fail to get, or maintain the top three keyword placements. This is one of the most common issues sellers face when speaking to them. They ask me either in person or online. "Why is my product is not converting" I ask them, to do a search with their main keywords and 9 times out of 10, their product is priced higher than the average price of the page and / or the top three positions. Normally 50% or more... So we broke down some of the key data points to explore this. Youtube Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS8amvL1Cz8
Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for September 23, 2022 is: misnomer miss-NOH-mer noun Misnomer means “an incorrect name or designation.” It can also be used to refer to the act of wrongly naming or designating, as in “calling complicated and varied climatic changes ‘global warming' is something of a misnomer.” // Peanut is one of the most famous misnomers, because peanuts are legumes, not true nuts. See the entry > Examples: “The librarian of the Oregon Grotto, which is a bit of a misnomer because it's focused on southern Washington, is the official keeper of approximately 600 tightly protected cave maps that reveal the secret locations of every documented cave in the region.” — Kate Robertson, The Guardian (London), 29 Mar. 2022 Did you know? What's in a name? Well, in some cases, a name will contain an error, a misunderstanding, or a mislabeling. Historians have long noted that the Holy Roman Empire was not holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. The Battle of Bunker Hill was actually fought on Breed's Hill. And the Pennsylvania Dutch are in fact of German ancestry. For such cases, we have the term misnomer, which can refer both to the use of an incorrect or inappropriate designation (as in “it's a misnomer to call an orca a ‘killer whale'”) or to the designation itself. Regardless, there's no mistaking the source of misnomer: it comes from the Anglo-French verb mesnomer (“to misname”) and ultimately has its roots in nomen, the Latin word for “name.”

Victor asks Tom and Tony, “Do triggers matter in the markets?” The market was up 30 points and then down 30 points. Tom put in a covered call, and the market went down another 50 points, then 95. Tom isn't worried. He covered a third of his position and played the bongos in a victory march. Victor is confident he's about to put Tom in the hot seat on today's topic. Tom states glibly, “There is no chance you got me, no chance.” Victor asks him, “Why is the market down today?” Then reiterated his point thrice. If the market rallied yesterday at 250 points, why is it down 100 points? The obvious answer would be today's Consumer Price Index report. According to Tom as a self-directed opportunist, you see, the rationale here is that traders needed a reason to sell so that they could buy back up again by the end of the week. He called out the pundits who will inevitably say it is the CPI. His theory is that the markets are always lying in wait for a trigger by design. Victor thinks he's willfully ignoring the evidence to the contrary. Bonds are selling off, and the dollar is overextended, still strong and selling to the upside. But what about equities pulling back? Tom says, “The genesis of tastytrade is that whatever happens with CPI, the FED, the world, name it, it's not a tradable event.” The debate continues. Tune in to see if they agree to disagree on today's episode.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is the number one cause of infertility among women in the United States. It affects between 6-12% of the population or around 5 million women of reproductive age. The name can sometimes be a misnomer because it does not stress upon the insulin resistance and inflammation that underlies this condition. In this episode, I speak with Eleni Ottalagana who is a nutritionist specializing in PCOS and herself suffered from this condition. She'd used a holistic approach to improve her health and is now helping many other women do the same. We discuss: What led her to be passionate about PCOS and specialize in it? How does PCOS present and how is it diagnosed? Why nutrients are mentioned much in the treatment of PCOS How she evaluates and approaches a patient who is struggling with PCOS Her thoughts on a lower carb diet vs. the concern for disordered eating patterns to develop What other supplements and treatment options are available for PCOS Eleni is a Registered Dietitian, she specializes in women's health and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). More specifically, supporting women to make nutrition & lifestyle changes using holistic, integrative and functional nutrition approaches. Yes, we're often looking at what our thoughts are and how they relate to the facts of our life, but it doesn't work if we stay up in our heads. We have to learn to access our bodies. And in a society that has taught us to dissociate from our bodies at every turn, that's really hard for some of us. Find out more in this episode...

SSONS ON THE MINISTRY FOR MINISTERS AND MINISTERS-TO-BETitles used for Ministers in the Bible, Elders and Chief Elders/Senior Ministers, Ministers and “Deacons”, Why the Title “Deacon” is a Misnomer and has been Misconstrued in its Meaning by the Later Church, Different Degrees of Authority, Ability, and Eldership in the Ministry, The Episkopos (“Bishop” or “Overseer”) as the Senior Minister who is the Chief Overseer of the Elders and the other Members of the Church, The Episkopos (“Overseer”) as what may be a Combined Office of Overseer and Pastor CAUTIONARY NOTE: This ongoing series of classes on the ministry is NOT intended to address the general ministry of the body of churches we are part of but, rather, to educate and aid those ministers here and abroad that I personally am responsible for. Doing so may require addressing somewhat controversial issues, but only as such are necessary to make clear my position on these issues to those I am responsible for. We have made this public (and not password protected) for several reasons, one being that there are ministers outside of our body of churches who may hear these messages and may consider their ways. That has been the case with other materials we have made public; we have had individuals who listened to them who reached out to us and became a part of what we are doing because of a conviction they felt hearing those messages or reading those materials. I also wanted my position on these issues to be transparent and available to those who love the ministry and its work.
