If forgiveness isn't hard, you aren't doing it right - Dan Meola Summary  Many parents struggle with their children--not because of the kids, but because of the wounds they are carrying from their own parents.  The only path for healing those wounds is forgiveness.  But how do we forgive, especially when the hurts are deep and real?  In this podcast we sat down with Dan Meola, the founder of Life Giving Wounds, a ministry for adult children of divorce.  We talked about the importance of forgiveness,  what it is--and what it is not.  To define true forgiveness, Dan walks us through the seven marks of forgiveness that bring insight to this path to true reconciliation and healing.    Key Takeaways No matter how you have been hurt you need to let go of the grudge and forgive.  Unforgiveness hurts us, hurts those around us, and prevents our healing.  If forgiveness isn't hard, you aren't doing it right.  Christianity is the only religion that requires forgiveness, even if it is unilateral.  This is impossible by human standards and can only be done by God's grace.  The Seven Marks are: It is specific It is an ongoing process. Can be unilateral Means you still have boundaries It is a choice, not a feeling Enables you to let go of anger, resentment, and to cancel past debts Is only possible with the grace of God

Did the Benedictine monk Dom Perignon invent Champagne? Why is Grand Cru Champagne not necessarily the best Champagne? What makes Champagne so versatile and food-friendly? In this episode of the Unreserved Wine Talk podcast, I'm chatting with Christopher S. Ruhland, author of the award-winning Press for Champagne: A Guide to Enjoying the World's Greatest Sparkling Wine. You can find the wines we discussed at https://www.nataliemaclean.com/winepicks   Giveaway Three of you are going to win a copy of his terrific book, Press for Champagne. To qualify, all you have to do is email me at natalie@nataliemaclean.com and let me know that you've posted a review of the podcast. I'll choose three people randomly from those who contact me. Good luck!   Highlights What makes Champagne so versatile and food-friendly? What do you need to know about the main styles of Champagne? Why is Rosé Champagne made differently from still Rosé? What sparked Chris' interest in Champagne in particular? How did Chris' legal career and writing skills transfer over to writing about Champagne? How does Press for Champagne differ from other wine books in its approach and focus? Why does Champagne have a universal appeal, even for those who aren't wine enthusiasts? How did Champagne become the wine of celebration? What are some common myths about Champagne that Chris debunks in Press for Champagne? How has the "Champagne only comes from Champagne, France" campaign impacted consumer awareness and the global sparkling wine market? What are some of the ways popular culture has impacted certain brands of Champagne? Did the monk Dom Perignon invent Champagne? How has social media shaped our perception of Champagne? What is Chris's perspective on the pricing of Champagnes and how it affects accessibility?   Key Takeaways No, the Benedictine monk Dom Perignon did not invent champagne. Champagne wasn't even sparkling until after his death. But what is true, Chris explains, is he was a cellar master of the abbey and an important figure in Champagne wine production and in advancing its quality. People talk about Grand Cru champagne with reverence as if it's categorically better than champagne without that distinction. That's not true. You can find Grand Cru champagne, which is not very good. And then you have champagnes like Louis Roederer's Cristal and Dom Perignon that are not Grand Cru champagnes. With champagne, there is such variety and so many different styles that you really can drink it throughout an entire meal, and it can all work differently based on what you're eating.   About Christopher S. Ruhland Christopher S. Ruhland trained and worked as a lawyer for thirty years before becoming a mediator. He holds the Diploma in Wines & Spirits from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and he has passed the French Wine Scholar, Bordeaux Master-Level, and Rhône Master-Level examinations given by the Wine Scholar Guild, all with Highest Honors. In this episode, Therese Markow and Mark Greene discuss the pervasive issue of mansplaining, a phenomenon where men explain things to women despite their lesser expertise. Mark explains that mansplaining is rooted in "Man Box Culture," a set of rigid masculine rules that discourage emotional expression and promote dominance. He highlights that these rules, which include not showing emotions and being a breadwinner, have been ingrained since the Industrial Revolution and are still prevalent today. Mark emphasizes the need for men to unlearn these behaviors to form meaningful connections and improve their mental health. He also discusses the impact of these cultural norms on men's professional and personal lives, advocating for a shift towards more inclusive and emotionally open masculinity.    Key Takeaways: No culture is monolithic. No culture is non-changeable.  Mansplaining is one direct product of a culture of masculinity that says: Don't show your emotions. Always be tough, be right, know more.. Never talk about anything deep. Man Box Culture is not traditional masculinity The breaking of connection is what leads to Man Box Culture and the increased rates of suicide in teenage boys and mental health challenges in adult men. Authentic, deep, caring relationships require emotional sharing. If you spend your life mansplaining, you don't have connection.   "My work is around the idea that we want to get men to wake up to the limitations of Man Box Culture and shift that culture to a healthier culture of expression and connection." —  Mark Greene   Episode References:  Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1608464660  The Man Box Study by Equimundo: https://www.equimundo.org/resources/man-box-study-young-man-us-uk-mexico/  When Boys Become Boys by Judy Chu: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0814764800  Niobe Way: https://www.niobe-way.com/  Catalyst: How Combative Cultures Prevent Men from Interrupting Sexism: https://www.catalyst.org/research/combative-culture-sexism-infographic/  The Good Men Project: https://goodmenproject.com/    Connect with Mark Greene: Website: https://remakingmanhood.com/  Twitter: https://x.com/remakingmanhood  Book: The Little #MeToo Book for Me: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0983466963  Book: The Relational Book for Parenting: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1979378657  Remaking Manhood Podcast: https://remakingmanhood.com/2019/04/01/the-podcast/  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mrkgreene/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/remakingmanhood/    Connect with Therese: Website: www.criticallyspeaking.net Threads: @critically_speaking Email: theresemarkow@criticallyspeaking.net   Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. It's an uncomfortable topic, but at some point you will be in a season of grief. Perhaps you are in that season now, or you are just coming out of it, but learning how to manage grief well is something we all need to do.  I don't know anyone better to share on this topic than my dear friend, Tasha Ives. Tasha has experienced deep grief multiple times throughout her life and sought to find a biblical perspective on how to work through it. She shares those thoughts with us on the podcast today, as well as in her new book, So Far: A Journey Through Grief and Beyond.  Key Takeaways: No matter your depth of grief, it is valid in your life because it's your reality. Sometimes when you are dealing with grief, you become what people want you to be and end up stuffing your own emotions deep down without dealing with them. Avoidance is a natural reaction to grief. Grief ignored leads to bigger issues and it grows into other places of your life where it didn't originate. Be discerning about who you share the details of your grief with and know that tragedy will change your circle of people which can lead to additional grief. Learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable sitting with those who are in grief. John, like Yvonne, has used visualisation, manifestation, and long-term planning to fuel the success of his business. John is also something of a marketing genius, especially when it comes to leveraging social media for growth. He shares several tips that are amazingly effective for small businesses. This episode is packed with practical, real-world examples and advice. KEY TAKEAWAYS No matter what your passion is in life, you'll be able to find a way to monetize it and build it into a business Every journey is a sequence of steps, and you just have to keep on taking those as little actions. Pick 3 things to do each day that will move your business forward. When you do that you will be amazed at how fast you grow. Manifestation keeps you focused and planning for the long-term. Not being realistic about marketing costs when pricing your product is a big mistake. Initially, become an expert on one social media channel. Modern advertising is about stopping the scroll. You have to do something different and stand out from your direct competitors. Invest in your marketing. Don´t delay turning your idea into a business. Start small if you need to. Start by creating free social content so you can learn what stops people from scrolling. Something you can use to build a successful ad. Use the platform data. It will quickly tell you who your audience actually is. Often, you will be surprised by who your main type of customer is. To increase the chances of your ads being seen on social use similar language as your bigger competitors. Companies that offer a subscription-based service are much more valuable than those that sell a one-off product. Subscriptions also help with cashflow.  BEST MOMENTS “I´m visualising turning my top line (this year´s revenue) into my bottom line.” “I am a great believer in ying and yang. If everyone´s doing A you should do B.” “That's a real manifestation mindset of, like, wanting abundance for everyone.” “That´s the algorithm … you have to remember that they are going to see your competitor´s ads too.” EPISODE RESOURCES https://theblackstuff.com/pages/about-us VALUABLE RESOURCES website: pausepenny.com Instagram: @yvonnetchrakian_manifest @pause.penny LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yvonne-tchrakian-64257619/ HOST BIO Yvonne started her career as a corporate lawyer for one of Ireland's top law firms. Amidst laughs and banter, they dive into the heart of pressing industry matters, particularly something that stirred up quite a discussion on LinkedIn: the claim of 100% recyclability in packaging materials. The trio dissects the idea of infinite recyclability in the context of materials like liquid death (aluminum) and corrugated packaging. Adam Peek challenges the notion of "infinitely recyclable" as misleading, emphasizing the importance of accuracy in environmental claims. He debates the intricacies of material recovery, and the engagement with Liquid Death's CEO on LinkedIn that sparked heavier dialogue within the industry.Key Takeaways:* No packaging material is 100% recyclable, 100% of the time—there will always be some loss during the recycling process.* Marketing language around recycling should be used carefully to avoid greenwashing and the spread of misinformation.* Consumer education and ease of recycling are crucial for improving recycling rates in America.* Social media plays a significant role in packaging marketing—brands should seize moments of positive publicity.* Brands need to stay agile and open-minded in their marketing and community engagement strategies.Notable Quotes:* "No, no. Boundaries are not meant to keep people out, but to set a clear understanding of what is acceptable and what is not within our relationships   At a few of our events, we have gotten questions from older parents who ask what to do about adult children who have cut them out of their lives.  At first we were surprised by this question, since the parents who attend our events are usually not ax-murderers or reprobates.  But then we realized that this seems to be a disturbing trend in our culture - young people who find fault with their parents and therefore choose to disown them.  Because we serve parents, we wanted to give a different take on the “wisdom of the world” and challenge our listeners to set boundaries and be healthy, but in a way that still honors the commandment that God gave us to honor your mother and father.  Yes, some of us have grown up in dysfunctional homes, but that does not mean that our families of origin should still have power over us.  Listen in as we help color in some gray to a discussion that is far from black and white.     Key Takeaways: No one should have the right to “push our buttons”.  We need to be free in our relationships even when people are unhealthy. Boundaries are good things to keep our families peaceful. You can't replace your family - for good or for bad, they belong to you and you belong to them.  One of the Ten Commandments is to honor your father and mother.  This is God's idea, not ours and it needs to be taken very seriously   Couple Discussion: How can we honor our father and mother appropriately?   How would we want our children to treat us someday?  What are good boundaries for our holiday visits with family?    Resources Dennis Prager Video: https://www.prageru.com/video/your-parents-dont-deserve-this?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=campaign_8266139 Great article from Catholic Psych - https://www.catholicpsych.com/blog/a-catholic-approach-to-dealing-with-difficult-relationships  Forgiveness- Shalom series https://www.shalomworld.org/episode/forgiveness-in-the-family-susan-and-urby-potvin

n this episode, Sean offers a unique perspective on past lives, seeing them not as literal past incarnations but as opportunities to expand our consciousness. He explains that from a quantum, unified field view, there is no separation - we are simultaneously all lives across time. When we feel a connection to a historical figure or period, it is because we created an opening to receive that vibrational wisdom now. Sean stresses not to let the ego attach to these insights as defining us. All lives are us, but we must honor our present wholeness. He also notes our bias toward past trauma versus past joy, and encourages embracing the full spectrum. Seeing unity in all lives allows us to increase our frequency. As we resolve fractures through compassion, we enable blessings to flow through our unique integration. Key Takeaways: No past/present from quantum view Lifetimes are opportunities to expand consciousness We simultaneously hold all vibrational frequencies Don't let ego over-identify with past lives Healing unifies us with our higher nature Unity consciousness increases our vibration

You are set apart as a father to breathe life into your kids.    Carlos Whittaker   Carlos Whittaker spreads hope and encouragement through his roles as an author, podcaster, and global speaker. He and his wife Heather live in Nashville, Tennessee, with their three young adult children.   Key Quotes   14:03 - "Men were just addicted to, dads were just addicted to their work, before that, they were addicted to whatever it may have been. So, what is the medicator? The medicator that you're using to medicate some inadequacies that you feel in your parenting, break those things and be more present. What does it look like to lower the volume of life, slow the pace of life down?" 16:54 - "What are ways that you as a father are set apart and separated from the rest of all of humanity? All of the other individuals that are speaking into [your] lives, you as a father, you as a dad, you are set apart in a way that nobody else is. Just a look from their father, looking them in the eyes and saying, I love you and I'm proud of you. Just that is going to free your kids in ways that you probably can't even imagine."   Links from Today's Conversation   Episode 300 Dad Notes Carlos' Website Parenting Podcast Series: Episode 121-125 of Human Hope with Carlos Whittaker Episode 122: Parenting Series - My Kids' AMAZING Therapists, David Thomas and Sissy Goff How to Human: Three Ways to Share Life Beyond What Distracts, Divides, and Disconnects Us by Carlos Whittaker All Carlos Whittaker Books   Connect with dadAWESOME   Make a Donation to dadAWESOME Join the dadAWESOME Prayer Team Receive weekly encouragement by texting "dad" to 651-370-8618

EPISODE 3: Hey there, parents! So, we're on our third meeting now, and I can imagine you've tried every approach in the book (or even those that aren't in books) and everything under the sun (just like we did), but still, nothing worked for your challenging kid.In the first two episodes of the podcast I've recently launched, we figured out that there's no one-size-fits-all approach for parenting challenging children. That's precisely why most mainstream methods fall short. They don't get to the root of the problem, and they aren't tailored to each child's individual needs and background. That's why it's the perfect time to talk about other solutions... and by that, I mean THE SOLUTION - an out-of-the-box approach that covers not only your family but also best practices. It's the Calm the Chaos System - the system I've come up with is based on over 20 years of research and experience. Because parenting isn't just a guessing game (these days, some people seem to think that on social media). There's a ton of science out there. I get it, you guys are the experts when it comes to your kids, and nobody knows them better than you do. But we still need some sort of guide, some kind of road map that will help us through this without feeling like we're having to play a never-ending parenting game of Whack-a-Mole.In today's episode, Jason and I are going to break down the 2 parts of the Calm the Chaos System:Calm the Chaos Framework (You-Cue)Family Road MapWe'll explain the ins and outs of this unconventional approach, why it works, and how to use it.It has helped hundreds of thousands of families - I bet it will work for you too.Key Takeaways:No one-size-fits-all approach for parenting challenging kids (00:00)The method that helped hundreds of thousands of people (02:05)Calm the Chaos Framework (You-Cue) (06:54)5-stage Family Road Map (16:47)Why this approach works and how to use it (31:46)Recap (34:02)Additional resources:

From hiring qualified personnel and incorporating your business as an LLC or S Corp, to purchasing equipment and increasing revenue. Plus, learn valuable tips on how to find an accountant that fits your needs. Crush it this year - Listen now! "More production is better than less production." - Brian Fullerton Topics Covered:  What do you do when you have to use the restroom on a landscape site? What's the difference between an LLC vs. an S corp? Finding a place to park the truck - story from Keith How to transition from solo to having an employee without going crazy. How to get started with landscaping equipment. Hiring employees is not cheap, they are free. What is the best way to remove weeds from flowerbeds? When you have the right people, everything works What percentage of our leads are coming from Google? Increase the average ticket of each customer by increasing the price How do you keep employees busy in the wintertime? What's the key to growing in your second year of business? The importance of having a good accountant. Key Takeaways "No, it's employees are not cheap. They're free. If you if you understand, please, they're free. But at the same time, it is a commitment. And I take it pretty serious when I hire somebody out because I don't want them to mess with their livelihood. They're planning meals and rents in daycare based on what I'm paying them. So I treat it with a lot of seriousness like I hate letting people go We really try not to do that. But you got to just jump in with your with your big toe, or your first person. They may or may not work out. Give yourself some grace. No enemies right to say hey, man, I suck at this. I'm sorry. I gotta let you go." - Brian   "Because if you're driving 20 or 30 minutes to customers lawn for 40 bucks, you're gonna you're not making any money. If you're driving 20 3040 minutes to do somebody's five or $10,000 and landscaping job it's worth it you're making money. There's people literally go and do $50,000 jobs and they'll sleep in a hotel room to go finish that job before they come back. I mean, there's people that do million dollar jobs. So you have to find out the law of diminishing returns on a gradient and where does the scale tip so it's the most healthy and profitable for your business. Now sometimes you're going to do inconvenient things when you're getting a business off the ground. Like I said, throwing the mud at the wall to see what sticks. You're going to do a lot of inconvenient shit and drive all over the place and say yes to everything to generate as much activity in the business as possible. But then once you once you really get going then you can kind of cut the fat and narrow back down and be more choosy. You got to get in where you fit in is my favorite thing getting where you fit in." - Keith Connect with Brian Website: https://lawntrepreneur.com/ Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@brianslawnmaintenanceyt Instagram: www.instagram.com/brianslawnmaintenance/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@BriansLawnMaintenance/videos   Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resouces and Websites:

The Root Cause Medicine Podcast is a weekly one-on-one conversation with renowned medical experts, specialists, and pioneers who are influencing the way we look at our health and wellbeing. This week we're joined by Dr. Andy Wong, Co-founder of Capital Integrative Health. In this episode, Dr. Andy Wong talks about the importance of brain health, including how physical and mental health are connected, the effects of alcohol consumption on cognitive decline, and how to take proactive measures to protect brain health. Dr. Andy Wong is a board-certified internal medicine doctor trained in integrative and functional medicine. He specializes in investigating the root cause of health issues and working with patients to optimize their health and wellness. Dr. Wong is trained in the Bredesen protocol for the reversal of cognitive decline and is also specialized in acupuncture, functional medicine, and nutrition. Key Takeaways: No brain, no gain Brain health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. It is intimately tied to who we are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It contains our life stories or experiences. It also mediates our emotions, both joy and sadness, feelings and thoughts. A healthy brain also helps us cultivate meaningful relationships. From a root cause medicine perspective, the brain is the organ that helps to influence all the others, so you have to continuously develop and exercise it. What is an inflamed brain? Neuroinflammation is basically inflammation of the nervous system, which is mediated by the innate immune cells of the brain called microglia that protect neurons. They can become inflamed and damage the neurons if they get out of control leading to symptoms such as brain fog, anxiety, fatigue, memory loss, or depression.. What causes brain inflammation? Alcohol is one major trigger for this type of inflammation, as it disrupts the blood-brain barrier and increases chemical messengers like NF kappa beta. A recent study from the UK showed that even two drinks a week is associated with cognitive decline. Other causes are dysregulated blood sugar, toxins, mycotoxins, an inflammatory diet, hypoxia (low oxygen), and gut inflammation. Physical and psychological stress can also lead to brain inflammation which can cause issues with memory, anxiety, depression, and brain fog. The root cause of depression Depression was recently discovered not as a cause of serotonin deficiency but rather by unchecked chronic brain inflammation. Physical and mental health are tied together. If someone has depression, they might have fatigue, body aches, or other physical issues. Dr. Andy Wong's practical advice Focus on food by making eighty percent of meals whole food based. Sleep is an active process for the brain, during which it detoxifies beta-amyloid plaques that may contribute to Alzheimer's. So get enough sleep by aiming for seven or eight hours of sleep per night, with two hours before midnight to promote detoxification. Start a mindfulness practice such as yoga or exercise routine. Also, check out Dr. Andy Wong's recommended lab testing: functional MRI, CT scan, neurology antibody testing, blood molecular tests, apolipoprotein E genetic testing, fasting blood sugar test, insulin testing, hormone testing, micronutrient testing, vibrant testing, omega check test, online neurocognitive testing. We're passionate about helping dads live fully alive as they lead their kids to God's awesomeness.  | YouTube |  Instagram | Facebook   Chris Bruno   There is nothing more exciting to me than the intersection of transformation and adventure. This is why I founded Restoration Counseling – a place where we daily engage the power of restoration and epic re-storying. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I specialize in men and masculinity, sexual addiction, trauma and abuse. My experience as a men's therapist and my work with men at Restoration Project provide me a wealth of experience when navigating the landscape of a man's heart.   As I work with clients, my focus is on discovering and “reading” the narrative of their lives and guiding them toward the transformation that comes through adventurously and honestly engaging our sorrows AND our glories. This, to me, is what I was created for.   Key Quotes (Full Transcript of the Conversation Here)   12:02 - "Teaching them how to navigate, is to show them how I navigate it and what I do with my flat tire and what I do with my explosion and how I recover from that. I am in the midst of that. What I learn from that. And then how I move on." 21:09 - "It was the elder season of a man's life that they considered the pinnacle of manhood. That it wasn't when he was when he became a father, wasn't when he was the king or the warrior or any of those other stages of a man's life, it was when he was the elder, or the sage. And the reason for that is because if he is an elder, than he is a pylon of society, that when there is a society full of sages, there is groundedness, there is containment, there is wisdom, there is guidance, there is an unflappability to who he is. There is a generous hospitality that he exudes around him. There is a subtle-ness to a sage. And when sages don't exist in society, that's where we get all the opposites of that." 36:13 - "There's so few sages that probably one of the best things that you could do is to be around other men who are pursuing sage. Because there's something there about the camaraderie of men that when we are pursuing sage together, even if we don't know what it is and what it looks like, if we have intention to go there, we're going to find our way."   Conversation Links   Restoration Counseling Restoration Project Book - Man Maker Project Book - Brotherhood Primer Book - Sage: A Man's Guide Into His Second Passage Episode 196: Part 1 with Chris Episode 197: Part 2 with Chris   Links from dadAWESOME   https://dadawesome.org/life/ Make a Donation to dadAWESOME Join the dadAWESOME Prayer Team Receive weekly encouragement by texting "dad" to 651-370-8618"

Today I am sharing some things you should know that are not meant to be kept a secret or that some dentists may not want you to know or may not even know themselves. When most people think of going to the dentist, they think of pain, being uncomfortable, and are most likely afraid. Dental care is now more comfortable, natural and practically pain-free than ever before. So what should you ask a dentist BEFORE agreeing to care? In this episode, we will find out more about that. Key Takeaways:-No one knows more about your body and how you feel than you-Do NOT agree to care from any dentist that does not first provide you with a very clear explanation of treatment outcome and options-Before you pick someone to help you on your journey to health you must ask yourself some tough questions you may or may not know the answers to

There were times in my journey that I thought I'd gone mad and then you find people that make you realise that you're not alone, today's guest has done that for me. Dr Perry Nicholson, who I came across on Instagram about 18 months ago. I have to say, this man just blew my mind. I asked myself why is every doctor not talking like this man does? He's quite phenomenal. Listen in to hear his story and his thoughts on chasing pain.   KEY TAKEAWAYS   No system in the body ever works alone, never gets injured alone, never heals alone. There's no such thing as an isolated injury in the body. There's no such thing as isolated healing. you might go to a homoeopath because you have something like gout and you might get a completely different treatment to another person because they're looking at the whole system, what's going on in your body from all different areas. Chasing pain means that you point to where pain is, now it's in my right shoulder today, then can you rub my left hip? So you're just chasing this thing all over the place as opposed to asking, why is the body sending this protective signal? And what does pain mean anyway? So to Dr Perry, pain is a request for change. Dr Perry believes, unfortunately we're thriving, but we're getting in our own camps and we're trying to kill the other tribe. So it's not a communal tribe together and then that's part of the stress response or survival responses. So you stay with what you feel comfortable with and then you don't go near what you don't feel comfortable with. And that's where people become more polarised. Every autoimmune disease is inflammation. It's just manifesting itself in different names for different people. So inflammation is the culprit, but would manifest it as fibromyalgia. Somebody else may manifest it as celiac disease. Because that just depends on your genetic makeup, your history and your vulnerability in your body. Breathing from the diaphragm is so good for your body because it moves your organs around and stimulates your vagus nerve and also increases blood flow in the abdomen. People with vagus nerve issues have poor blood flow to the gut because the signal travels down as well as up. 80% of the signal moves up and 20% moves down.   BEST MOMENTS   ‘If you're trying to teach someone a new concept, you've got to tie it to one they already get' ‘Focus on in through the nose and out through the nose' ‘Physiology and mental and emotional are always intertwined together' ‘In medicine we're so clinical that you get cut off from the human being that's there and you're treated like a slab of beef' ‘You gotta ask why, why did it manifest there' ‘Your body is either in growth mode or it's in defence mode'   EPISODE RESOURCES   www.stopchasingpain.com Philly on TikTok Philly on Instagram www.phillyjlay.com   ABOUT THE GUEST   Perry Nickelston is a Chiropractic Physician with primary focus on Performance Enhancement, Corrective Exercise, and Metabolic Fitness Nutrition and trained fromThe American College of Addictionology and Compulsive Disorders. Students and parents who are committed to the process are always able to find funding - the earlier they start, the more money they'll find.It is the right of students from all walks of life to receive an education without debt, and it is more likely to happen when scholarship providers do not sell or share students' personal information with third parties. There's something for everyone, regardless of their academic standing. Those who are willing to seek out these opportunities will have an exciting future ahead of them. Many scholarships are essay-based, but there are still quite a few that give students the chance to shine in their areas of strength. “Our slogan is: imagine where you can go with a scholarship and a dream. People are seeing beyond the titles and looking closely into how authentic a person is. Leaders must step up their game and show up better. How do we make sure that we have a lasting impact? In this episode, Denis points out eight aspects to keep in mind when showing up as a leader. Listen closely as he tackles the principles behind each point that can direct you to leadership success. In this episode: I tackle the eight areas for leaders to consider as they show up - energy, passion, being real, authenticity, transparency, vulnerability, confidence, and courage. The reality is that people are sick and tired of seeing others being someone they are not - that is how being real, authentic, and transparent becomes critical, especially for leaders. Key Takeaways: No one wants to work with someone who is negative and has no energy People will look at the way you portray things, so ensure your authenticity Being vulnerable is about not being afraid to be humble Leaders not showing confidence can make people question your ability Have the courage to ask questions and start conversations   Tweetable Quote: "If you're not real and you're not authentic, people are going to see right through you.”  - Denis Gianoutsos Reach out to Denis: Email: denis@leadingchangepartners.com Website: http://www.leadingchangepartners.com/ (http://www.leadingchangepartners.com/)  Leadership Is Changing Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/LeadershipIsChanging/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/LeadershipIsChanging/) Leadership is Changing LinkedIn Page: https://www.linkedin.com/company/leadership-is-changing-podcast/ (https://www.linkedin.com/company/leadership-is-changing-podcast/)

Henry J. Turner is an award-winning high school principal, speaker, and author of “Change The Narrative: How to Foster an Antiracist Culture in Your School”. He is most proud of the collaborative community he works within to empower students to fight hate and bigotry in their school. In this episode, Henry talks about how you can change the narrative within your school and your home and shares the first steps towards a more diverse environment that cultivates acceptance for one another no matter who they are.   Key Takeaways No inclusion in your school? You have the power to change it!  Many school leaders are unsure how to get started.  If something bad happened in your community, don't stay quiet. Ask your teens what their thoughts are. Get comfortable talking about it.  This is an opportunity for you and your child to watch documentaries, news, and more together to further educate yourself on this topic. Remember, your teens are growing and exploring and it's important for parents to be supportive of that.   What does diversity and inclusion really mean and how can you implement these in schools?  Some parents feel like it's too upsetting to even talk about some of the horrible things that happen to our minorities. But, by not talking about it, you're missing out on a teaching opportunity with your child.  Henry encourages you to have a ‘multicultural' event at your school. You get to learn so much about your community, other cultures, and you also get to eat!    Sponsored by Ed Gerety Presentations: https://www.EdGerety.com   Resources Besproutable.com/teens/ Henryjturner.com Henry on LinkedIn Change the Narrative: How to Foster an Antiracist Culture in Your School by Henry Turner   Quotes:   “Teenagers engage the most when they feel like their opinions are valued.”    “Allow their opinion to be their opinion. If they say something you disagree on, keep probing on where they got their information from.”    “Your teens aren't just listening to you. They are watching you.”

Don't leave the relationship right away; it's just a matter of recognizing and communicating our feelings, as well as getting to the root of the problem, in order to feel that closeness again. Feeling mad or angry is natural, so give yourself grace and permission to feel it. The only way to get rid of this emotion is to feel it and let it pass through us. Stop expecting one person to meet all of your needs. The best way to avoid disappointment is to not expect anything from anyone.   "A healthy relationship is people owning their feelings. How can you find — and attempt the great feat of solving — your perfect problem? That's what I'm talking about today with my guest, Square co-founder Jim McKelvey. His book, The Innovation Stack: Building an Unbeatable Business One Crazy Idea at a Time, is one of the funniest and most engaging business books I've read. We met at TED through our mutual friend Jon Levy, and had the great joy of recording together in person at a studio in midtown Manhattan. In the first half of this two-part episode, we delve into fending off an attack from “the perfect predator” of competition, Amazon. More About Jim: Jim McKelvey is a glassblower, father, entrepreneur, author, aviator, computer programmer, chairman of the St. Louis Federal Reserve, and inventor, and that is just scratching the surface. As for where to connect? As he puts it, “Please don't ask me to connect on Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram. I'm not there. I've got better things to do. And frankly, so do you.” “People who want to build something new often feel they lack sufficient expertise. Their assertion is correct, but not complete. The same lack of expertise applies to everyone on the planet. Innovation has no experts.” —Jim McKelvey

Not having a diagnosis quite literally ruined him - he had no money, no job, no savings until he got his diagnosis. He talks about how much he loves his job working with disabled people and training them, and how being disabled has made him into the person that he is.  In this episode you will hear:  The journey to getting a diagnosis for James. He shares his experience of not having a diagnosis for 5 years and how things changed for him after being diagnosed. James talks about what it's like for him to live with Dystonia. He shares how life is different for him than that of the average person and how he manages it. How James' disability affected his previous career. He talks about how he lost his career as a plumber/heating engineer and how not having a real diagnosis at the time affected him. His current career as a personal trainer. He has found this career path to be the best for him. James' advice to people who have similar experiences, persons with disabilities and anyone in general. He says pushing for answers is the best way to navigate life. Enjoyed this show? Each week this podcast highlights an awesome disabled guest speaking about their own disability; why they are proud to be disabled and why they are proud to be themselves.  The conversations in this show will look at what challenges these amazing people face socially, mentally, physically and life in general. This show is raw, open, honest, funny, welcoming and educational.  Disabled & Proud does exactly what it says on the tin! And whilst we are creating this space for disabled people to be unashamedly themselves, without need to conform for society, this is also not about toxic positivity. This show will be shining a big, bright light on disability without it being “Paralympic or pity”.  As you will hear disability is WHOLE, COMPLETE & PERFECT and whilst the topic of disability can be quite heavy - and we definitely don't shy away from the bad days - this podcast is also about having fun too! Our aim is to play a part in reclaiming the word disability - turning it from inadequacy to perfection!  Key Takeaways: No matter the obstacle, not giving up is the only way to see through to your goal. The seventh instalment of the inspirational mini-series ‘Eknath Easwaran's Words To Live By'. Today Rob discusses the importance of listening, how you can enable your players by helping them overcome their challenges and how leadership is about facilitating other people's success. KEY TAKEAWAYS No matter what our position is in life, one of the most difficult things to do consistently is listening. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. One of the key skills to being a great manager is to know how much to give when to give it and what to give. If you become a leader, manager or coach who imparts wisdom when it is appropriate and necessary, you will have a greater impact. If you just give irrelevant information all the time, people will not listen. As a leader, you need to know what is going on in your team members' lives, if they are in a good place, what challenges they are going through and how you can facilitate them best. The question we always have to ask ourselves is ‘how may I serve?'. Leadership is all about facilitating other people and their success. It is not about pandering to what you want or your ego, it is about overcoming your ego drivers so that you can help others along the way. That is what real successful leadership is about. If you want your team members to go the extra mile, put in more effort and do more, then you will have to do it yourself to show them and be the example. Don't doubt the amazing principle of going the extra mile. Stillness, quiet or meditation is something you should consider. Are you curious what it would be like to have lavish dinners and wine tastings with rockstars like Jon Bon Jovi and Fergie? How does music impact your perception of wine? In this episode of the Unreserved Wine Talk podcast, I'm chatting with New York wine and spirits journalist, Céline Bossart. You can find the wines we discussed at https://www.nataliemaclean.com/winepicks.   Highlights Why was Céline at an impromptu wine dinner with Jon Bon Jovi How do celebrity/winemaker partnerships work? What socio-political issues were highlighted with Kendall Jenner's tequila endorsement? What can we learn from Mario Lopez's agave spirit endorsement? Why was Céline's interview with Fergie one of her all-time favourites? What is the connection between music and wine? How did Céline end up cycling around vineyards in platform boots? How did New Zealand wine bring Céline to an awesome superyacht experience?   Key Takeaways No matter which celebrity endorses a wine, it's the winemaker who makes it that matters most. I agree that the person or winery producing the wine should be on the label as well. In some cases like the Miraval brand from southern France, the celebs formerly behind the wine, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aren't on the label, but rather the much respected Perrin brothers are. I loved listening to Celine's stories about meeting Jon Bon Jovi and Fergie. It's nice to know that they're decent people too. I'm fascinated with the impact music has on our perception and taste of wine. I plan to explore that more in future episodes.   About Céline Bossart Céline Bossart is a New York-based freelance writer, editor, photographer, and digital media specialist in the wine and spirits spaces, and particularly their socio-political dynamics. She's been published in Eater, Wine Enthusiast, Billboard, Harper's Bazaar, Town & Country, and many more. In her spare time, Céline enjoys drinking wine and binge-watching true crime shows.   Watch Party Join me for the debut Watch Party of the video of this conversation that I'll be live-streaming for the very first time on Zoom on Wednesday, July 7th at 7 pm eastern. You can save your spot for free right here. I'll be jumping into the comments as we watch it together so that I can answer your questions in real-time. I want to hear from you! What's your opinion of what we're discussing? What takeaways or tips do you love most from this chat? What questions do you have that we didn't answer?   To learn more about the resources mentioned in this episode, visit https://www.nataliemaclean.com/135.

Summary: How do you move from just having a successful life to one of significance that allows you to create a legacy that lives on for decades beyond your life? The Blackbelt Leadership allows you to lead and live a life that empowers a new generation to make good choices to become a better version of themselves.  Ultimately, this type of leadership makes a positive difference in the world around us. John L. Terry III is a two-time martial arts Hall of Fame inductee, John brings years of black belt experience to helping people, young and old, discover and develop the Black Belt Leader within and lead themselves with Black Belt Excellence.  They can then use their leadership and influence to create high-performance, people-centric, values-based, non-leader-dependent teams and make an impact right where they are. He is a best-selling author and in-demand international public speaker, John serves as an Executive Director and President's Advisory Council member with The John Maxwell Team. He is also a DISC-certified human behavior consultant, a Real-Life Management Master Trainer, and a CTAA-Accredited Emotional Intelligence Coach & Practitioner. In this episode, John talks about the ten essential character qualities of a BLACK BELT leader. These include: Believing in yourself Learning everything you can Accountability to yourself   Communicating effectively Kinetic-action   Bold action steps Equipping those you lead  Loyalty to your calling & to those you lead Transformation happens. Every one of these traits comes into play to create a way of leadership and thinking that becomes you.  When you embody all these traits, you become that authentic-genuine-values- based-people-centric leader who serves people the way you want to be served.  You will also become a leader who leads by example, who goes first and challenges the status quo to create an innovative way of life that significantly transforms his and others’ lives.   “The most successful leaders help their team members become leaders in their own right. Because if you can create an army of leaders, and you are leading an army of leaders, what you can do is unstoppable.”  - John Terry III   Topics Covered: 02:27 - A backstory of how John got into martial arts 03:28 - 10 essential character qualities of a BLACKBELT leader -- what each letter stands for  03:34 - Believe that there is a leader within you waiting to be discovered 04:04 - Learn  everything you can 04:42 - Be accountable to yourself 05:07 - Why communication is important 05:43 - Be kinetic 06:21 - You’ve got to be bold 06:53 - Equip those you are leading 07:35 - The sense of loyalty that comes into play 09:23 - Why transformation takes place everyday in a leader’s life 10:43 - The character trait that is not written in the word blackbelt: Mu-shin 13:04 - Foundational traits you should focus on  15:29 - A man-in-the-mirror-moment that he does every morning  16:10 - The value of bookending your  day 17:31 - Challenging the status quo 19:36 - The Warren Buffet’s way of prioritizing your day 21:11 - Let it be understood as you understand it 23:41 - What happens when we teach people how to communicate effectively 24:27- Leaders have to be people of action 27:47 - Action steps you need to take 29:58 - Accountability and deadline - the concept of working backward 32:09 - The traits that we see in successful leaders of today 33:51 - Formation and transformation   Key Takeaways: “No matter what it is we do in life, if we don't believe that we are called to do that, we're not going to be successful. Because what we don't believe in, we don't pursue.” - John Terry III  “Once you believe that you've been called to do something to make a difference in some way, now, you've got to learn everything you can about that particular topic. Then you become the authority figure and the expert. When people look to you, they look up to you as the leader that you've been called to be because the leader has to go first.”- John Terry III  “You also have to be responsible to those who are teaching you to make sure that you are being a good steward of the content they have given you, but at the same time, also accountable to those that you're leading. - John Terry III  “Communication is important. Because if you can't properly iterate to individuals, what you're doing, where you're going, and the calling that has on your life, very few people are going to follow you.” - John Terry III  “Not everybody learns to connect on a personal level and to speak with someone in their own voice. And one of the things blackbelt leaders do is to learn to speak to people in their own voice.” - John Terry III  “K is kinetic because leaders are people of action, you can't sit on your butt and be a leader.” - John Terry III “You've got to be bold, you can't sit back and let somebody else lead, and then you take credit for it. The leader goes first; the leader has to have those difficult conversations with people. The leader has to challenge the status quo to change things for the better; the leader has to disturb what is, to create what could be that's better.” - John Terry III “If you want to achieve success in life, significantly, you've got to equip those you lead because at some point, they're going to take your place. You and I are not going to be here forever.”- John Terry III “As we look at where we've come in our journey up to this point, you've got to understand that the calling that's been put inside of you, there's a loyalty to that calling. It is a God-given thing that God put within us that we've got to go live out on this earth.” - John Terry III “One of the worst areas that we see in leadership is a leader that says go, and then the leader never goes, or a leader says to do this, and he or she never does that. Leaders lead by example and that builds loyalty “ - John Terry III “The leader should be the first one to get there. And the last one to leave at the end of the day and doing everything that's necessary.” - John Terry III “If we've done all the character traits up to this point, we began to embody those in our lives. What takes place is transformation.” - John Terry III “What happens in the state of Mu-shin is, as we begin to transform, as leadership becomes a part of who we are and what we do, we begin to internalize it. And whether it's makeup and the amazing things that you do, or it's sewing, which my wife does, all of a sudden, as we begin to train overtime, you no longer have to stop and think, ‘Well, what would a leader say?’ Because it becomes automatic, it becomes a part of who you are. I don't have to think, I automatically know because that has become a part of who I am.” - John Terry III “When we find our calling and we walk through those character qualities of learning to lead ourselves well and make good choices, there comes the point in our lives when we embrace that. And that is no longer what we do, what we think, what we study; that is who we are. And when we begin to live that out, all of a sudden, we move from having a successful life to a life of significance that allows us to create a legacy that lives on for decades beyond ourselves.”  - John Terry III “We can't do everything at once. But we can do three things every day. And if we focus on getting three things done, and being accountable to ourselves, to the process, and to ultimately the people that are going to serve, now we have an opportunity to grow.” - John Terry III “If we are not kinetic, we not only rob ourselves of the opportunity to see fulfillment, we steal the opportunity for others to be impacted in a meaningful way, by that vision and that purpose inside of us that is not yet fulfilled.” - John Terry III Resources: Download for FREE the 10 Black Belt Leadership Traits. In this episode, Kellan talks about looking at yourself. There are several ways to look at yourself. You could look at yourself and be angry about everything that you think is wrong or you could look at yourself with resignation and indifference. However, the best way to look at yourself is with love and appreciation. If we find ourselves in a place of pain and sadness, Kellan reminds us that we have a choice to make – destroy yourself, give up, or make a change for the better. It’s hard to change everything all at once. Kellan tells us that if we make incremental changes, it becomes much easier – but we need to make the choice to affect that change. If you give 3% more each day, it will take just over a month to reach 100%. It won’t take long, with tiny incremental changes, before you’ve made big strides toward Your Ultimate Life.Key Takeaways:“No matter where you are at this moment, you have done good, you have created good, and you certainly have an infinite opportunity in front of you to create more good.”“All of the things that we do, down to the smallest things, have an impact.”“The neat thing about personal growth and progress is it’s kind of like a tree growing – it happens a little at a time.”“Happiness is an inside choice. How much of your life do you spend watching your life go by?In this episode, Kellan talks about Time. Often we feel like others control our time – we assume that if our time is limited, that we don’t control it. Kellan tells us that this is only true if we hand over that control to someone else.Kellan reminds us that we all have the same amount of time on the clock – even Einstein had only 24 hours in a day. The only difference is what we do with our time. Kellan suggests doing the three most important things first, and then consider what we do next, whether it’s “ceiling time” or doing “extra credit” tasks. By doing these tasks, we “create” more time. Are you a creator or a reactor? If you choose to be the creator of your life, you will get back your time and life, and you will be happier. Both of these things are key elements in creating Your Ultimate Life.Key Takeaways:“No one gets to decide what you do with your time.”“You have every single second that the clock gives you, so we have exactly the same amount of time.”“Usually, we do the things that are easy and in front of us instead of thinking carefully about what’s most important.”Connect with Kellan on social media at:Facebook: www.facebook.com/kellan.fluckiger3YouTube: www.youtube.com/c/ultimatelifeformulaLinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellanfluckigerTwitter:  https://twitter.com/kellanfluckigerInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachkellanfluckiger/You can find out more about Kellan and how he can help you achieve your ultimate life by checking out his website: https://www.kellanfluckiger.com/Subscribe to the podcast at:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fluckiger/id1505919748Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6IXjYZo38go7Pv5ElanVv4Simplecast: https://your-ultimate-life-by-kellan-fluckiger.simplecast.com/Google Podcasts:  https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zaW1wbGVjYXN0LmNvbS84YVZ1VlVkQw==Stitcher: *https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fluckiger?refid=stpriHeart: *https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-your-ultimate-life-with-ke-61503928/Deezer: *https://www.deezer.com/us/show/1028862RadioPublic:  https://radiopublic.com/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fl-G3AMY2If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on ApplePodcasts. In this episode, Kellan talks about being overwhelmed – the feeling we have when we ask ourselves, “Can I do this?” After making the decision to move, Kellan and Joy had 2 weeks to make it happen – this included making 3 trips back and forth between the old and new houses, arranging the cleaning of the old house, and even moving a grand piano out of the basement. Very often, they felt as though they couldn’t continue. As it relates to your ultimate life, Kellan tells us that no matter how difficult or overwhelming a situation can be, we need to make a decision – either we persevere to the end, or we quit trying. We’re not in the business of quitting, so Kellan reminds us that because we can, we must keep going. If you persevere through all the challenges, and keep your eye on your goal, you will surely create Your Ultimate Life.Key Takeaways:“No matter what we’re working on or working through, there are two choices we have: we can keep on going, or we can quit.”“No matter what your difficulty is, there will be a time in the middle when you ask, “can I do this?”“The answer is: Yes, you can.”“You are the secret ingredient.”“Keep your eye on the prize. You will not be sick forever, and you will not be broke forever, unless you choose not to act.”“When you’re going through hell, keep going. Most of us, when we’re going through hell, we want to sit down and collapse. If we sit down and collapse while we’re in hell, we’re guaranteed to stay there. Hey Mavericks, today I am sharing a piece of business advice that I recently gave to a friend of mine. This is my personal experience after spending lots of time and energy doing it the hard way.   The reason I am sharing my story is because the advice itself sounds simple...almost like a platitude. But I promise you it's not. My hope is that this will help you notice where you're doing this in your business, so you can move forward faster.   Ps, make sure you are subscribed to the show, and I’d love to hear what you think of this episode! Take a screenshot in your player and tag me @linsibrownson on Instagram.   Key Takeaways: No matter what you sell, your MINDSET IS HOW you will confidently back up your offer. What makes something easier or harder to sell is your belief that it's the best option. If you don't know what you want to sell, choose one anyway. It will move you forward versus keeping you stuck in "I don't know" land. Bad days happen to everyone. But not everyone has the character and preparation to respond to bad days in a way that turns those bad days to growth. The good news is that everyone can develop the character and learn how to prepare to do this. There is nothing wrong with having bad days; they are just part of being human. But if you can turn those bad days into growth days, if you can be the kind of person who handles failure and setbacks with a growth mindset, then you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. In this episode, Mackey provides encouragement to push through the bad day to the growth that is waiting on the other side.  Key Takeaways: -No matter how much you prepare, it is guaranteed that something will go wrong. -Set goals that are worthy of your talents. -Be the kind of person that does what they say they will do, no matter how difficult it is.   To learn more about the 2Words Character Development Curriculum, please email Colton at colton@2words.tv or visit our website at www.2words.tv/gameplan.   If you haven't listened to the Virtual Mackey Leadership Camp Sessions, head on over to youtube/mackeyspeaks and give it a listen!

63: Believe in Yourself and Be The Woman Leader Because You Deserve To Shine.Breakthrough with Janet Aisyah Quek Learnings for completing season 2Success comes to those who work hard for it. Working hard and achieving success go hand in hand. If you are not willing to get out of your comfort zone and do what seems impossible then you will not achieve success. Hello, gorgeous. Welcome to today's episode. Today I have someone who is here, who likes to share with me how she overcame a very interesting journey of launching two seasons of podcasts with soul rich woman's proven process which is the soul rich woman blueprint podcast edition of the proven process. Her name is Janet Aisyah Quek.Podcats 02:41- 02:52 I truly agree that our podcast is not only about building online presence but most importantly, online credibility and recognition by showing up consistently.  03:08- 03:18 I realized that my message has impacted more people than I ever thought it could now with listeners and followers in nine countries in just three months.  04:47- 04:58 I have done more than 14 times Facebook live in two months. It was not possible if I had not started my instant podcast leaders how on women's leadership. 05:46- 05:59 When I go to start the podcast season two, I was not sure if this is something I want to continue or just wait to see what results I have after launching season two over a year before embarking on my season two.  06:13- 06:27 I realized that time flies so fast and it has been nine months since I quit my last job. So, I decided to use this time to continue season two so that I will have two years ahead of content.   To be an online entrepreneur07:17- 07:29 I want to achieve my dream to be an online entrepreneur and this way I decided to continue to invest in myself even though I'm not working.  07:30- 08:00 It was a trick money issue in the beginning but when I realized that I can actually earn more the moment I have built my reputation online by showing up and having my voice heard. People would come to know who I am and what I stand for. People would start to support me, trust me, just like these handlers who have approached me instead of me going to them. More people would come to get to know me and my brand since I built my business online.  10:02- 10:17 My mentor, Genecia, spent time with me to draw out my experience and content and guided me to position myself with the topics that I could share. That continues to give me some ideas and topics in my lists for season two.    The podcast as a marketing vehicle12:01- 12: 10 Podcast is a marketing vehicle that can be used again and again for life. It is also a legacy that I can leave for my children and grandchildren.   12:29- 12:46 Understanding that my intention is to share and inspire and not to criticize or destroy other people's lives gave me the courage to continue despite the hard work and for me to continue the season two podcast recording.  13:36-13:51 Now I see this to be my big lesson in life. If you want to succeed in anything, you have to stay focus, remind yourself why you first started, make it happen and you have to set it as your number one priority.    15:13-15:29 I believe that no matter how good you are, you need a team who can support and guide you. But most importantly, people who know what they're doing. The soul rich woman team makes you feel that you are a family and they got your back every step of the way. Key Takeaways: No matter how good you think you are, you still need someone who will guide.  If you feel like giving up, remember the reason why you started first.  Success comes to those who work hard for it. When people have doubts about your plans, prove to them that it's possible.  Remember those who have trusted in you.  Key Resources:Subscribe to Genecia's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/SoulRichWomanVisit SRW's website: https://www.soulrichwoman.comFollow Genecia on Instagram : (@Geneciaalluora)Follow Genecia on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/geneciaalluora/Check Genecia's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/genecia/Free Resource: "Soul Why: Soul Rich Woman Blueprint" and "How to Delegate 80% of your to-do list" ---> https://be.soulrichwoman.comSecrets of Manifesting Money Quickly Online Course ---> https://shor.by/moneymindset

Liz Murray’s “Homeless to Harvard” story has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, made into a Lifetime original movie and chronicled in her book “Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard”. Liz grew up with two parents addicted to drugs and eventually became homeless at the age of 15. She learned through hardship the power of perseverance and successfully graduated from Harvard University. Not only does Liz share her incredible story, but she also talks about gratitude, mentorship and that “no one gets to where they are going alone”. She is the co-founder of The Arthur Project which provides mentorship to underserved youth in NYC. Liz is a wife, mother, advocate and overall beautiful human being doing the work to make the world a better place.   Key Takeaways “No one gets to where they’re going alone!” Liz shares her story. Her parents were addicts and couldn't stop.  People will grow into the conversations you create around them. Liz grew up in a conversation about survival.  “People can’t give you what they don’t have.”   Despite growing up in survival mode, Liz had a lot of angels (mentors) around her.  Liz shares her story about her neighbor, Arthur, who always took the time to care.  Due to the instability in her life, Liz was sent to a group home and Arthur tried to adopt her.  Unfortunately, Arthur passed away suddenly and later that same year, Liz’s mother died from AIDs, both devastating Liz. Despite having to shoplift for food and being a dropout, Arthur’s voice and all the positive things he told her stayed present in her head. She didn’t give up on herself. She went back to school despite being homeless. She finished 4 years of high school in 2 years. Does my past have to determine my future? Can I start over?  “When you’re embraced by a community, people hear you and hold you accountable for your actions.” You get to be held to a standard and you finally feel accepted. Liz was shocked when she got into Harvard. While homeless, she was featured in the NYTimes. People think, ‘why bother?’ and they shut down. “Cynicism is the atrophy of your heart.”  Liz realizes that she will spend the rest of her life healing from her trauma.  “Grief is love with no place to go.”  Liz shares the story of her first speaking engagement. She was bewildered by their specific request. It can be so easy to give up when faced with immense adversity. Why is our world set up to dehumanize ourselves?   When something feels wrong, Liz recognizes that she can’t be the only person who has felt this way. She seeks out knowledge to learn more.  “The way you really heal is you have to face what happened. The only way out is through. It’s never going to go away if we don’t tell the truth.” Liz talks about racism and the historic oppression Black Americans have faced throughout U.S. history.  This is not a theory we’re dealing with. We’re dealing with human lives.  How can you make the world a better place? “It first starts where you stand and fix what you can control” What are you silently agreeing on? If you want change, you have to be willing to give up what we have, to have the world that we want.    Continue On Your Journey Thearthurproject.org Liz on Facebook Liz on Twitter Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard by Liz Murray Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. This issue came up in a group that Tim is a member of where a gym owner was sharing how she keeps getting emails from clients requesting if they can freeze their memberships and it’s really draining her, so she was asking for advice on whether she should email all her clients and give them the option to freeze or lower their memberships.Tim will highlight a piece of advice that came from one of the group members who said that there is no need for any gym owner to contact all their members asking them to change, freeze, or cancel their memberships because every individual member is very much capable of deciding all on their own if they want to change, freeze, or cancel their membership. Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies

Are the unknowns of the agency industry overwhelming? Do you sometimes feel like maybe it’s time to close shop? Learn about the 4 phases of successful agency growth from an owner with over two decades of experience. Hear all his ups and downs plus learn what to expect as you scale and grow. In this episode, we’ll cover: 4 phases of successful agency growth. How to manage a growing agency. Deciding whether to bring on a partner or not. Today I talked with Chris Emergui, CEO of BAM Strategy, the agency he founded in 1996. With over 20 years of agency ownership experience he's seen his agency grow, deplete and grow again. He learned a couple things along the way and shares with us some of those nuggets of knowledge as well as the 4 phases his agency went through to get to reach the success they enjoy today. Sometimes just knowing what other agency owners have gone through can provide the encouragement and support we need in this lonely entrepreneurial world. 4 Phases of a Successful Agency Journey Phase 1: The Start-Up This is the time when you get things going. You could take this on alone or with a partner (although I don’t recommend partnerships - more on that later). This phase lends itself to being more ambitious and more willing to take some risks. This can be a time of quick prosper and scaling quickly, but can also include a downturn in business and can be messy. This is when you learn lessons. Phase 2: Switching It Up This could be when you and your partner part ways. When you realize you have different visions. It’s a time when a business model change might take place. If you’ve been dealt the hardship of budgets getting slashed, this is when you anchor yourself with your client. Start servicing clients in areas that will not be affected if their marketing budget is cut. This is when you are getting more experienced at knowing what to offer. Phase 3: The Romantic Phase This is the time when you have fun. You are at that 20-25 employee marker and you know them inside and out. You are experiencing growth and have a good, solid culture. You understand the impact you can have on the business. This is the phase you would stay in if you could. Phase 4: Continuation of Growth A lot of agency owners think Phase 3 is ideal and want to stop growth there. But, you can’t stay there forever, no matter how much you’d like to. You don’t have a choice in this industry. You need to constantly go after new business and have a goal to grow. Because in this business, because you’re only one client-decision away from being shattered. Phase 4 is where you start laying your infrastructure. Bring in the people to start handling the things you might not be so good at and start empowering them for success. In Chris’s case he brought in a new partner at this point. If you hire the right people, put them in the right role and give them the right systems. Then you can start doing less and focus on growth goals. This is the phase when you get out of the day-to-day and take on a new role of heading the ship. How to Manage a Growing Agency When we empower our agency employees we set them up for success. And that is really our biggest role in agency management - helping our people succeed. If they aren’t coming to you for all the answers, that’s a good thing. It means you are providing them with the right upfront direction so they can make decisions. It feels good to be needed but you need to remember that being their “hero” isn’t a long-term solution. You want people who can run things on their own; you don’t want your agency to crumble if you get hit by a bus. The transition from Agency Owner to CEO can be tough. And doing so can create both a freedom and a void. However, as CEO one of your five main roles is to mentor your leadership team, giving them confidence and direction. You are there to help them become more successful and grow. This is when you can really start scaling your agency, because now they are making decisions that are good for the agency and not just for themselves! Your number one asset is your team. So invest in them, because that is an investment that will pay for itself. Deciding On A Partner: Should You or Shouldn't You? I always advise against bringing on an agency partner because you either know the bad partner, or you are the bad partner. But, I know it’s pretty typical to bring on a partner when you are looking for a lead person to manage an area of business where your skills are lacking. An agency partnership or part-ownership provides a vested interest for that person while strengthening the agency leadership. Chris’s advice is to make sure you are hiring someone you can empower, and someone who is smarter than you. Don’t be blinded by their prior experience and large network or influence. Most importantly, you and your partner have to have the same view/reaction to any given event. While you can complement each other’s weaknesses, your vision needs to be the same. Key Takeaways: No one has all the answers. Learn as you go is the nature of the business. You’ll make mistakes along the way. It only takes one big client to get on the map. Keep on pushing! You will get that one break. Don’t try to compare yourself to the larger agencies, but have the confidence that you can complete with them and can service the larger brands. A mindset of perseverance is how you’ll find success for your agency. Things can change on a dime in this industry! You will find the hard stuff is what you’re going to remember, you’ll appreciate it more, when it’s in hindsight. And it will always remind you that you can handle it, you can get through. Let the tough times make you smarter and move on!

He is a serial entrepreneur, having start multiple businesses. His current project is InnovativeX, which is a site that provides the tools and resources to enable anyone to develop an idea from concept to market. We explore his business with a few examples in the product development space. First, we discuss his idea of a board game that teaches the players the product development process. Then we discuss my product, The Selfie Glove, and what I have done and what I should do to continue market testing. Key Takeaways No matter how good you think your invention is, you need to go through the validation phase of product testing I always assumed you needed to get sales right away to validate a product idea. But Daryl points out that you can give away samples and still test. If you give out samples and people say “hey where can I buy this”, then likely the product will be worth pursuing.   To Contact Daryl -          Linked -          Darylgibson@innovativex.com   The Engineering Entrepreneur Podcast is produced by Scott Tarcy, President of CADdesignhelp.com.
