Today's guest is passionate about helping coaches, authors, and speakers leverage their expertise. She uses simplicity as a growth strategy. She is the creator of Coaching Genie, a coaching platform that allows coaches to deliver programs and scale their businesses with simplicity. She is the author of two books, “Coaching Millions” and “Simplicity Entrepreneurship.” Please join me in welcoming Milana Leshinsky. In this episode, we discuss: Her thoughts on leadership: “Leadership before meant being on stage and people listening to me, respecting me, and recognizing me as the authority.” As an introvert, she couldn't picture herself as a leader. How she discovered a new definition of leadership– she could lead through ideas. She could inspire others by sharing her ideas (channeled through Seth Godin). Finding her confidence as a kid through music. Growing up under the threat of Communism, finding music as her outlet, and shining through that confidence. Her dream of becoming a music teacher, instead of working in a factory, was the only option she could see growing up in the Soviet Union. Becoming the first web designer in her city and being featured in her local newspaper. Having her computer programming goals dashed by a colleague and received his advice that she would make a great manager away from computers. Her pivot into coaching and how she could leverage her internet and computer skills to create a large coaching community. Her credit on Wikipedia for coining the term “telesummit”. Yes. Seriously. Check that out here. Why she created Coaching Genie and the impact she wanted it to have in the world. Deciding how to market her software to the people that could really use it– her “perfect fit customer.” Her best advice for introverts– “If you don't like going to events, create your own.” Listen, subscribe, and read show notes at www.OnTheSchmooze.com

You need to know your audience. ✔️ They will reach out to a variety of industry & niche experts to talk on these solutions. ✔️ They will either pre-record an interview or a presentation (or occasionally done live) to be used during the virtual summit. ✔️ They will pick a date & time for the summit to start and then they will advertise the summit. ✔️ Speakers and affiliates will help promote it. ✔️ Attendees sign up typically for free, and gain access to the summit presentations when the summit starts. ✔️ The summit access is opened to allow the attendees access to that days presentations. ✔️ At the end of that day the sessions are locked & the next day sessions will be released/available. ✔️ This will continue for the length of the summit ✔️ Then the summit is closed & locked down once the scheduled end date has passed ✔️ Attendees will have the option to purchase on going access to the summit presentations for a fee. ✔️ Typically additional bonuses or incentives are added to increase the value of the offer. Some come from speakers and some from hosts. ***This is the basic overview of a summit. Most summits today take some creative spin or angle to make them slightly different and more appealing than previous summits. History/Background ✔️ Virtual Summits stem from the original creation of TeleSeminars back in 1990. Participants would have to get the information for the Tele Seminar and call in to access the information. ✔️ Typically in the form of a TeleSeminar which would be in the format of either an interview or presentation/lecture and would be a one off presentation. ✔️ When there were more than one TeleSeminars happening over the course of multiple days, it would be referred to as a TeleSummit. ✔️ This was first termed a TeleSummit by Milana Leshinsky in 2005 who conducted the first TeleSummit called the “Coaching TeleSummit” ✔️ Today TeleSummits have evolved into virtual summits, which incorporate online live streaming video, pre-recorded video sessions, webinars, and social media to engage and interact with the audience. ***I did some research on this and there might be some others that have happened and if you know of any other information over this timeline that I have missed, please reach out to me at podcast@virtualsummits.com because I would love to know of any others that have happened. January 2005 – Milana Leshinsky : Coaching TeleSummit June 17, 2009 - Virtual Learning Summit - IIL Global Companies Sept 27th 2009 - Virtual Retail Summit March 21, 2010 - Howard Lichtman - Article "Telepresence, Virtual Conferences and the Future on On-Line Events" May 26 2010 – Women's Leadership Exchange Virtual Summit Nov 30 2010 – Landing page success summit. Ben Jesson & Dr Karl Blank March 18 – 2011 – 20 Reasons Why Virtual Conferences are the future – Jaime Wilson 2017 – The One-Day Summit was invented by Dr. Mark Wade What Are The Different Types Originally Referred To As TeleSummits: ✔️ Tele- for telephone. Attendees would get an email (or find it on a website) a phone number and registration code and call in to listen to a series of teachings, all done on the phone. As it evolved they could text questions in and have live chat through text messages. ✔️ There are Hybrid summits, which included a live in person component with a virtual streaming component as well. Today We Refer To Them As: Multi-Day Virtual Summits typically consist of 20 – 80 speakers over the course of 3 – 14 days with a main theme and underlying specific topics or categories in which the speakers would be organized. A minimum 90 days is usually required to put together a Multi-Day Summit with the most common & successful summits being anywhere from 6 – 12 months to prepare and create. One-Day Summits consist of typically 5 – 16 speakers who teach a specific solution to one single specific problem being addressed. It is typically much shorter, and easier to consume for the audience & much easier to be created for the host. Typically these can be created in 30 – 60 days. One other main difference is these can be run without ANY speakers, and just the host presenting the information, or a hybrid version with the host and a few speakers. Live Streaming Summit. 99% of all summits are pre-recorded and streamed over the course of a set period of time. However, there are a few summits that run live streaming. These have a high engagement rate, but run a very high risk of error or complication. Most summits incorporate some kind of chat to provide a live feeling to them & help to increase engagement. What Are The Benefits? ✔️ Growing an email list, generating income, & building authority. ✔️ Leads are typically more engaged & higher quality ✔️ Self-Liquidating offer - pays for it's self ✔️ You have a platform ✔️ Expert leverage ✔️ Networking ✔️ Builds a relationship & solves a problem ✔️ Sets up a great opportunity What Are The Cons ❌ They require some level of thought and skill to be done well. ❌ They typically require a level of participation from the speakers and if that doesn't happen it can yield lower results. ❌ There can be a large amount of email communication that happens during a summit with the attendees. ❌ There can be tech difficulties, like links not working or videos not playing (not an issue if you have virtual summits software). ❌ They can be difficult and overwhelming if you are doing it all by yourself without the Virtual Summits Software. We all want to have a million dollar business. It's the universal 'pie in the sky' entrepreneurs strive for. Dana's guest Milana Leshinsky found out after the fact that she had hit seven figures. She thought that she would feel a deep sense of pride when hitting the million dollar mark. In reality, she was so busy and tired and overwhelmed that she had no real connection to the achievement and just wanted to go sit on a beach instead. So, she sold her business, took an uncomfortable sabbatical, found what she was drawn to and created "Simplicity Circle". Sounds peaceful and Dana-like already. Dana and Milana also talk about "getting paid for just waking up and being you". Now this is the kind of simplicity we can get behind. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In my chat with Milana, we go through her journey to America and how she broke the norm of her family to become an entrepreneur. Not only did she make it to 6-figures pretty quickly but she made it to 7-figures! Unfortunately, when she hit 7-figures, it didn't feel like it. So it was time to re-align and make sure her business lined up with her life. She now helps other business owners achieve simplicity in their business and life.

Milana Leshinsky Show Notes Simplicity Circle Founder, Milana Leshinsky, is creating a simplicity revolution for coaches, authors, speakers, and entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses with ease. Creator of Recurring Revenue Revolution, author of Coaching Millions, co-founder of JV Insider Circle, and an inventor of telesummits, Milana is known as a serial entrepreneur and paradigm shifter by many luminaries. She came from Soviet Ukraine 25 years ago as a classical musician with zero knowledge of the business world, and has built multiple six and seven-figure businesses since. Today, she’s passionate about showing entrepreneurs how to use simplicity as a growth strategy. Goodbye complexity and overwhelm. Hello simplicity, profits, and ease. Most passionate about I’m running a company called Simplicity Circle, and it bases on the idea of simplicity entrepreneurship that you can build, run, and grow your company as successfully and profitably as you want without paying the costs with your independence, your health, your peace of mind, or your relationships. Keeping the company as simple as possible, and at the same time, creating an impact and income for you. More specifically, I’m excited about the strategy that I invented many years ago. The TeleSummit, which developed into virtual summit, and it’s still such an amazing way to elevate your business, to give your brand a boost, and to put yourself on the map; I help people in creating summits that can do all this things for them. 13 years -and thousands of Tele-summits- later, there is still so much to think and develop in this field. So, that is where my mind and heart are right now. Tele-Summits – A virtual summit is a virtual event conducted over the Internet remotely, over the course of multiple days with multiple speakers. It used to called TeleSummits, so back in 2005, I Googled that phrase and there wasn’t any domain name called TeleSummit, so I ended up holding the first tele-summit. I taught that idea in New York, and later there was an explosion of tele-summits. The reason virtual summits are so successful is because you are inviting the leaders in your industry and that position you as your industry’s leader. Milana’s Career I came from Ukraine as a classical musician, and I had to change my professional from being a musician to being a technician to support my family. I became a computer program technician and I’ve always worked hard. Simplicity doesn’t mean not working hard, it means working hard in the right direction. If you are working hard, without utilizing your natural abilities -what I called your super skills- you are not only working much harder without gaining the funds and the results will come while grinding, pushing, and fighting, and at the end, you’ll burn out. And that’s exactly what happened to me last year, when I left a million dollar company I built with my partner. It was just not the right fit for me; I wasn’t using my natural ability. I wasn’t building my company on top of my natural skills. I ended up burning out, getting over-whelmed, losing my inspiration, and woke up one morning, asking ‘is that all there is? Work, work, work without any fun?’ When you’re using your natural skills and building your business around your natural skills, results come with ease and you can sustain your business better because it’s something that you enjoy doing. I love creating products and I’m working very hard creating products but I also have so much fun, and I feel fulfilled because I love what I do. Milana’s customers I have the same target audiences for both activities that I do and they are coaches; life coaches, business coaches, health coaches, they are experts that sell expertise online and they are entrepreneurs who want to build their businesses but feel overwhelmed and confuses by all the available methods, platforms, and advice out there. So, when I talk with them about simplicity,...
Simplify Your Business with Simplicity-Driven Growth Strategies. In this episode, Michele interviews Milana Leshinsky, founder of Simplicity Circle—a business that is creating a “simplicity revolution” for coaches, authors, speakers, and business owners. She works with her clients to grow their businesses to whatever size they want, making as much money as they want as they create whatever they want … all without sacrificing their independence, peace of mind, health, relationships, family, or life. Here, Milana shares how she founded, built, and walked away from a seven-figure business—and how she rebuilt another in a much simpler, more aligned way. In this episode, you learn: The key to “simple” success. How to obtain success without sacrifice. Why even the “big” name, super-successful entrepreneurs end up in overwhelm, so you can avoid it. How to stop strengthening your weaknesses and start building your strengths. And so much more. Milana also talks about how there are a million ways to start and grow a business, but there is not one single, “right” way of discerning your path. She believes in building your business around your life, not the other way around. And this is what she helps her clients do—she guides them toward building a business as simply and successfully as possible, by combining their natural talents with simplicity-driven growth strategies. Milana is a “serial entrepreneur” and “paradigm shifter.” She is also the creator of Recurring Revenue Revolution, author of “Coaching Millions,” and co-founder of JV Insider Circle. In today's episode of Join Up Dots we spend time looking at whether we should a business plan when starting a business. Should you plan it all out when you first start or instead make it up as you go along? Well there are so many nuggets of gold in this episode you will want to grab a pen and paper and take notes for sure. Ready? Dear David, It's your favourite Hungarian listener again. Last time it gave me such a good feeling that you started your episode talking about my review. It made my day that I heard that I'd made yours. So today I've listened to the episode with Milana Leshinsky about ‘Simplicity'. You both have agreed on that we – the newbies in business – shouldn't even write business plan cause we have no idea who to follow and what we can achieve. I am on a different opinion. I think that if I find a company that I like and it's working then it's better to follow cause WE HAVE NO IDEA. So someone who has already experiences running a business knows better and would give us a clue, right? Also, we can learn from other apps – how they've reached their target audience. The other thing is that I'm finishing my part sooner then my business partner. I'm responsible for the design, figuring out the structure of the app and what the user should see and how they want to use and I'm also writing the business plan (!) :D. I think it is important to summarize what we are building for whom, when and why. But he is responsible for all the technology part, like programming the app and building a web server (if there is such a thing). So the question is if I should help him with his tasks or we should stick to the basic roles and I can improve my part. So by the time he is finishing the prototype I will already have several plans what to do with it. But do we have time in such a field? Or should we involve more people – ones who know more about programming? But then it's risky that we are loosing control. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, David!
Simplicity can be so hard to create in business, unless you know todays guest. My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who is passionate about business, helping people, but also having a life away from business. And that my friends is so important, as business is important but not at the sacrifice of our own lives and happiness. She is an entrepreneur, business strategist, and a marketing mentor to coaches, authors, and speakers and also the founder of the Simplicity Circle, whose mission is to help entrepreneurs succeed and grow, while keeping their business simple. Milana came from Soviet Ukraine 25 years ago as a classical musician with zero knowledge of the business world, and has built her million-dollar coaching business from home part time, while raising her two children. And if you think that this was all some amazing masterplan then think again, as she began her career teaching music theory and history to 3-5 graders in a specialty music school in Kiev, Ukraine. Followed by a quick stint in an Insurance company, and then working as a web designer before starting her own business. She did the work that she thought she would love before finding the one that appears to light her up inside bigtime. She is the creator of Recurring Revenue Revolution, author of “Coaching Millions,” co-founder of JV Insider Circle, and inventor of telesummit. She constantly strives to stay on the cutting edge in the coach, author, speaker space, and when she's not working on her business, she writes music and enjoys Latin ballroom dancing. So how has she managed to blend a super successful business, whilst still being their for the kids and herself? And has she always managed to get the balance right, or like most of us ploughed into burnout before seeing the light? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Milana Leshinsky Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Milana Leshinsky such as: Why simplicity in business is such a key part to the success of all businesses. Relax into the process and see where it takes you. How Milana never once went to coaching school, although that never stopped her being a mentor to other coaches. Don't be held back by qualifications...can you solve the problems of your clients? and lastly…. Why its so important to find the systems in you business which will allow you to walk away from it. Nobody wants to create a monster in their lives.
We all have a unique vision for the joyful life we want to create. Is our business in line with that vision? How often do we find ourselves in a position where the work we do is becoming more of a distraction or hindrance to achieving what we really want? Milana is big on simplicity and she shares her thoughts on how we can all be more successful in business and in our personal lives by finding our “simplicity zone.” But she’s quick to point out that simplicity is different for everyone. This is where our own “super skills” come into play – the things that we are naturally good at, but don’t always recognize.
The Beginning Milana’s American dream started in October of 1992, when she stepped off the plane from Kiev, Ukraine to New York. Equipped with a music teaching degree and a 90-day crash course in English, she was ready for whatever she had to do to survive in this new world! Everything Milana had learned about America came from Soviet newspapers in the 1980s, so she spent her first few years in awe and wonder. But giving piano lessons at $6 an hour wasn’t going to feed her family, so she enrolled in college and graduated with a four-year degree as a computer programmer. Now, she thought, she had everything she needed to be successful in America. First Business With the Internet sweeping the world, thousands of online businesses started emerging and Milana became curious about e-book publishing. After writing and selling her first three e-books, she stumbled onto something that would completely transform her life. She discovered coaching. A fast-growing field, coaching heavily relied on having online presence, dynamic web sites, and marketing skills. Milana quit her job, became a work-at-home mom of two small children, and began studying marketing, with a focus on copywriting and direct marketing. She was absolutely fascinated by the idea of a single email generating thousands of dollars in sales. With the birth of online product launches and joint venture partnerships, Milana’s dream of creating a million-dollar business seemed more real than ever. First Million Over the next few years Milana published her first print book, “Coaching Millions”, hosted the world’s very first telesummit, created the Recurring Revenue Revolution live event, developed almost 30 various business courses, started and sold a software company, and co-founded JV Insider Circle. And she made her first million along the way. When she had imagined building a million-dollar business, she thought it would feel like a “million dollars!” But when she finally surpassed seven figures, she didn’t even notice it. She says, “I was too busy working. It didn’t feel like anything special. No more special than making six figures. No more special than getting a $30K job offer right after college.” Most importantly, it didn’t make Milana feel any happier or more successful. She was always busy, often tired, and even began having panic attacks, which were absolutely scary and debilitating. Sabbatical So instead of celebrating hitting a 7-figure mark, Milana decided to sell her business and take a sabbatical. After 16 years of “playing big”, she began looking more closely at her life and asking questions she had never asked before: How much money do I really need to be happy? What am I willing and unwilling to do to achieve this goal? Who am I when I am not running a business? Where does happiness come from? She discovered that she had been operating a very successful business, but it was the wrong kind of business for her. She was in “misalignment.” She had allowed her business to dominate her life. Now she was ready for a different business and a different way of doing things. Milana also discovered that she was not alone. She surveyed and had private conversations with over 500 coaches, authors, and speakers. Many of them were going through a similar soul-searching experience. Making money was not enough. They felt drained and trapped by the complexity they’d created. They were re-evaluating their entire business models. They wanted more freedom, meaning, and joy. Search for Simplicity Simplicity Circle was born out of seeing how growing a business can cause stress, anxiety, and frustration and take away from happiness and peace. And from profitability. Milana feels her greatest gift is being able to turn what seems complex into simplicity. When she works with her clients, she transforms the complexity in their businesses into a simplicity-driven growth strategy quickly and efficiently. No more trying every marketing and selling strategy out there. No more adding more ‘stuff’ to an already overloaded list of things to implement. Milana guides her clients from feeling overwhelmed, drained, and frustrated to feeling confident, energized, and excited about their businesses again.

Years of hard work and long hours, she finally hit that million dollar mark, but it wasn't at all what she expected. And so - she quit and contemplated. The silence was terrifying yet necessary. Milana began asking herself questions like: How much money do I really need to be happy? What am I willing and unwilling to do to achieve this goal? Who am I when I am not running a business? And out of this inquiry, her new business and approach was born--Simplicity Circle. Her company's mission is to take the frustration, stress and anguish out of growing a business by SIMPLIFYING. She says it's the key to happiness AND profitability.
