We open the new season with a discussion of three recent Justice Centre victories: 1) The Michal Princ case in Alberta where a doctor was accused of professional misconduct for providing Covid vaccine exemptions, 2) the Leah McInnes case. Leah, a Saskatchewan nurse, who had been accused of unprofessional conduct because she protested—both in the streets and on social media—against lockdowns and vaccine mandates, and 3) an ArriveCAN ticket case in Ontario. The ticket case has ties, in spirit, with the Peckford ArriveCAN case, in which our lawyers have requested leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada after lower court rulings that our Charter-based lawsuit against the ArriveCAN was moot.Justice Centre, Jan 18, 2024: College drops charges against Alberta doctor who granted Covid vaccine exemptionsThe Democracy Fund, Sep 14, 2023: CPSO drops disciplinary proceedings against Ontario physician for opposing harmful Covid policiesJustice Centre, Jan 19, 2024: Free speech victory: Charges against nurse who opposed vaccine mandates defeatedJordan Peterson in the National Post, Jan 17, 2024: Bureaucrats will rue the day they tried to shut me upJustice Centre, Oct 10, 2023: Saskatchewan nurse faces disciplinary proceedings over expressing her opinionsJustice Centre, Jan 18, 2024: ArriveCAN ticket case dismissed, but Charter rights remain in limboJustice Centre, Nov 10, 2023: BC healthcare workers' vaccine mandate challenge: Tatlock, Koop, et al. v. Well, it just so happened that the deceased woman was J Robert Oppenheimer's secret paramour. But did she really take her own life? J. Robert Oppenheimer is the father of the atomic bomb. He also kind of looked like David Byrne and I'd really like David Byrne to play him in my screenplay about Oppeneheimer. Oppenheimer was a well-known and much beloved physicist who taught at UC Berkley and Caltech before the US government enlisted him to be the director of the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, New Mexico. After the atomic bombs were dropped over Japan, Oppenheimer became a celebrity…and a fierce critic of nuclear weapons. This criticism made him public enemy #1 with the US government during McCarthyism, and he was stripped of his security clearance and publicly shamed. He died at the age of 62 of cancer. That's the Cliff Notes version of Oppenheimer's life. It's infinitely more fascinating that that, in part because of his close relationship with Jean Tatlock, a very smart and very depressed doctor, maybe lesbian, and Communist Party of America member. In this episode, I'd like to explore their on-again off-again relationship, Jean's effect on Robert's life, and her untimely death.
We often talk about the state of theology in the American church, but what about on the mission field? In this episode, Mark Tatlock, president of The Master's Academy International (TMAI), explains why there is reason for rejoicing but also much concern—and how the root of many heresies overseas can be traced to a gradual retreat from biblical inerrancy and sufficiency in the West. Dr. Mark Tatlock, prior to being appointed to his full-time role with TMAI, served as executive vice president and provost of The Master's University. Mark is a graduate of The Master's Seminary, and he and his wife Lisa have five children, included adopted children: Jacob, Josiah, Hope, Paul, and Olivia. In this episode, I chat with naturopathic doctor, Jodie Tatlock about following your calling even when it gets hard. Even people who are successful and deeply love their career, like Jodie does, experience self-doubt and an ego that says “what will people think?”. Listen in on this honest conversation and know you are not alone, and that the struggle is worth it for the fulfillment you get from following your calling, not your ego. Dr. Jodie Tatlock is a naturopathic doctor and founder of EAST ND. Her practice focuses primarily on hormonal health and fertility, but she works closely with digestion and mood as well. Dr. Tatlock is most profoundly shaped by a silent 10-day meditation retreat off the coast of Thailand. It allowed her to look at health and healing in a new light. Integrating science-based medicine and traditional methods of healing are important aspects of her practice. When she isn't in the office helping her patients, she can be found exploring the world. With a constant itch for travel, Dr. Tatlock is always bringing back new and innovative ideas and training to the clinic (like a vitamin IV drip lounge!). Full show notes: vibrantlywell.com/podcast

When you think of the novel Jane Eyre, you might think of its author, Charlotte Brontë, or perhaps certain elements of the plot, like Jane's time at Lowood School or her tumultuous relationship with Mr. Rochester. However, in a recent project, Lynne Tatlock is exploring how the original novel is only the beginning of the Jane Eyre story. Like many other 19th century texts, this novel was repeatedly translated into other languages and adapted into new works. Tatlock, a professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures and chair of the Comparative Literature program at Washington University in St. Louis, seeks to uncover the German portion of that international journey. In addition to sharing thoughts on this new line of research, Tatlock discusses 19th century German romance novels in translation and reveals some of the challenges and insights that she has personally encountered as a translator.
