Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek's "Train of Thought" album, released in October of 2000 on Rawkis Records, and was a work that helped define the conscious rap movement of the early 2000s. The album was known for its hard-hitting beats and socially conscious lyrics that tackled issues such as racial inequality, poverty, and the challenges of growing up in America's inner cities. At a time when much of rap music was focused on materialism and violence, "Train of Thought" offered a more nuanced and introspective perspective on the genre. “Train Of Thought” https://album.link/us/i/1440497737 Twitter: @nametagalxndr Instagram: @nametagalexander Facebook Group: Lead And Be Legendary Follow Nametag Alexander on music platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp, Youtube, and more. “This Is The Life” feat. Zach & Zo journey to Prohibition Era America. A time of sensational crime and gangsters. It was a time made for bold men who laughed in the face of danger. It was a time made for a man such as Johnny Dangerously, and he will make you laugh. That's right: before Michael Keaton fought crime he was the world's most lovable crime bosses.Episode TimestampsOpening Credits . . . . . . 00:29:55Favorite Parts . . . . . . . . 00:46:15Trivia . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 01:20:09Critics' Thoughts . . . . . 01:47:21 Back Look Cinema: The Podcast Links:www.backlookcinema.comEmail: fanmail@backlookcinema.comTwitter: @BackLookCinema https://twitter.com/backlookcinemaFacebook: @BackLookCinemaPodcast https://www.facebook.com/backlookcinemapodcastInstagram: @backlookcinemapodcast https://instagram.com/backlookcinemapodcastTicTok: @backlookcinema https://www.tiktok.com/@backlookcinemaBack Look Cinema Merch at Teespring.com (https://back-look-cinema-merch.creator-spring.com/)Back Look Cinema Merch at Teepublic.com (https://www.teepublic.com/user/back-look-cinema-podcast-merch?utm_source=designer&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=G1VQNMthhSg) Made-For-TV Movie Podcasthttps://pod.link/1547103380#mftvmcpodcast on Google
Devotions and Meditations John 17:3If you have Peace with God, through His Son Jesus Christ, then THIS IS THE LIFE.
Summer of ‘59 is a classic Macca b-side. 1967 was the frigid Summer of Gloves. The summer of ‘69 was when you got your first real g string. But only 1982 was the Summer of Producer Casey, and some of Tony & T.J.‘s most formative, favorite hits, blasting off from WLS-FM, young B96, and Downtown Records & Tapes. And in our continued look at the (you can do) magic of 1982, upon the year's 40th anniversary, we talk about those great tunes, many more Beatles-related releases, and other “Brady Brides”-worthy madcap hijinks, like:

We also talk about how first year head coaches are doing and teams that might be concerning through 3 weeks. Enjoy!
Elise and Michael are back to break down the music and lyrics of the remaining five songs from Hannah Montana's first season - "Pumping Up The Party," "If We Were A Movie," "I Got Nerve," "The Other Side of Me," and "This Is The Life." Together they continue imagining Hannah Montana's campaign platform, find a common desire for a remix of one song, and accidentally form what might be the next big craze in spirituality. Michael also brings his musical expertise to the table, and makes a comparison to baroque music that may surprise you. They do a deep dive into the lyrics (spoiler alert: a lot of mixed messages!), Michael gives his perspective as a voice teacher, and read some listener comments, in addition to imagining a possible Hannah Montana presidency. Tune in next week for part 2, where they tackle "Pumping Up The Party," "If We Were a Movie," "I Got Nerve," "The Other Side of Me," and "This Is The Life!" Of Mexican Descent - "All Turn Native" from the 2006 self-released album Exitos Y Mas Exitos (Edicion De Lujo). Of Mexican Descent is a collaboration between Los Angeles-based artists, rapper 2Mex (real name: Alejandro Ocana) and Xololanxinxo (real name: Daniel Rodriguez). They began the project in 1991, and quickly became an elemental part of the rising Los Angeles underground hip hop movement. Their debut EP Exitos y Mas Exitos was originally released in 1998, and was recently re-released digitally via 2Mex's Bandcamp page. KEXP's DJ Gabriel Teodros says: "Of Mexican Descent is the duo of 2Mex and Xololanxinxo, two legendary underground Los Angeles MC's who cut their teeth performing at the famed Good Life Cafe, as documented in Ava DuVernay's 2008 film This Is The Life. As I was just coming into making music myself in the late '90s, OMD's work found its way to my Walkman via dubbed cassettes that friends were passing around, as we were all big fans of the styles coming out of the Good Life and Project Blowed. This was in a time when independent hip-hop had to physically travel to reach you; the internet wasn't used to distribute music the way it is now. 2Mex and Xololanxinxo both had such a courageous vulnerability in their approach, they kept love at the center of everything they did, and they represented an Indigenous perspective in hip-hop I hadn't yet heard at that point. The impact their music had on me then is something you can still see and feel in everything I do today. It only felt right to help shine a light on my OGs. "2Mex and Xololanxinxo are both very active today, Xololanxinxo has brand new music with The Psychic Temple you can listen to here and you can check the latest solo work from 2Mex here. "There's rumors of a new Visionaries album coming soon, too!" Read the full post on KEXP.org Support the show: https://www.kexp.org/donate See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

You can usually find Andrew behind the trap kit in his band Water Liars , but last year he released an album of his own songs in his voice accompanied by his guitar. This Is The Life is a meditation on fatherhood, being a husband, a son of aging parents and staying true to yourself creatively in the midst of all those obligations. Born & raised in the small Alberta Peace Country town of Hines Creek, music found DUANE STEELE early on. He fondly remembers parties at his parents' home with everyone sitting around singing and playing various instruments. As teenagers, Duane and his cousins started a band spending summers and weekends playing for weddings and community dances. In 1984, Duane's professional career began, fronting the band Rock 'N' Horse. Their album Highways was released in 1991. Despite top 20 singles, non stop touring, and a Juno nomination for Country Band of the Year Rock 'N' Horse disbanded in 1993. Duane took this opportunity to pursue his goals as a recording artist and songwriter, landing a publishing contract with Warner Chapel in Nashville. In 1995, a showcase at Canadian Country Music Week in Calgary resulted in his signing a recording contract with Mercury Canada. Duane's solo debut album "PO Box 423" was released in February 1996 and saw his first three singles go Top 5 on the Canadian Country Charts, including the #1 Hit "Anita Got Married". His sophomore release "This Is The Life" was released a year and a half later and all six singles released achieved Top 30 chart position (two becoming Top 10 hits). In support of both albums, Duane released seven music videos on CMT (three of which went to #1). He spent time on the road traveling with his CCMA award-winning band opening for some of the hottest acts in country music including Shania Twain. In 1997, Duane was the winner of the CCMA for Vocal Collaboration of the Year with Lisa Brokop for the single "Two Names On An Overpass". Duane has just released a new album called Dirt & Dreams. Tune in to hear him talk about his music career & the new songs.
