I have the Queen of Spice from Ren's Kitchen on the show today talking about everything to do with sourcing and investing in the best spices for your food, not just from a nutritional standpoint, but a flavour perspective too. I've always been a fan of spices for their medicinal properties, but today I was blown away by how much Ren taught me about spices and I was shocked at how different spices can taste in their raw whole form.Ren has been in the spice business for years and has some of the best chefs and restaurants use her spices. Tom Kerridge, Bubala, Palomar, Raffles hotel, Ottolenghi to name a few.Remember, spices add diversity to your plate – they count as 1/4 point each and we're aiming for 30 different plant points a week! Even used in small amounts, the addition of spices is suggested to improve gut microbiome composition and reduce markers of inflammation. Plus they have been part of the diet of human populations for thousands of years and add a ton of flavour.Today we talk what we're doing WRONG when using spices, what Ren has taught people in her cooking classes and how to source correctly and how to spot the best spices in the market. You can find out more about Ren and Rens Pantry on her website renspantry.com.

With a brief detour on to the acting stage, Tom started his career working at some of the country's top restaurants. In the rock'n'roll era of fine dining, suddenly it was cool to be working in a restaurant late at night. But as Tom and Grace discuss, a world of late hours and excess triggered multiple health problems for him. Going sober and solo, Tom started running his own businesses and success quickly followed. Star of 'Stranger Things', 'Enola Holmes', and brand new film 'Damsel', Millie Bobby Brown joins us this week. We met Millie at a hotel and had a delivery combo of Tom Kerridge food from his restaurant in the hotel, room service and even McDonald's. Millie told us all the stories of her various farm animals (including Norman the sheep!), living life between London & Atlanta, creating a fake name online to leave reviews, her fear of eating raw chicken, dreams of being in a musical, and how she has to have brown sauce on everything she eats, including a spag bol & a baked potato! Next time Millie, you're coming round to mum's for a roast dinner with all the trimmings! Millie's brand new film Damsel is out now on Netflix. Hosted on Acast. Have you ever got drunk with a Vicar in a Vicarage? Would you believe it, that's Dominic Byrne's weekend plans! It's the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast and this week it's been all lads-lads-lads as Pippa has been away on her jollies. Joining Chris in the studio was Derren Brown to talk about his West End show that he is not, in fact, performing in, and Matt Lucas, who reckoned Chris would have smashed the vicar in his new musical novel (it's not quite how it sounds). Chef Tom Kerridge called into the studio and, in classic Chris fashion, had his new recipe book pulled apart. I mean, a pie should have fully enclosed pastry sides, right? New host of The Late Late Show (the irish one, not James Corden's replacement) Patrick Kielty also came by the studio as well as everyone's favourite Eastenders actor turned gang fighter Ross Kemp. In amongst all of those guests, Chris found time to wage WAR on LBC's Nick Ferrari over false allegations of stolen Kedgeree. No presenters were harmed in this war, but we are still suffering from the stench… Anyway, this week we also had: Chris does magicDom finds a new favourite song in a supermarketUnheard bits from James' Birthday SurpriseEnjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio XWeekdays 6:30-10am
