He used a guillotine choke to beat Finn Balor in the main event on last night's SmackDown. But these two may not be done with one another. After the match, red lighting and the sound of a heartbeat indicated we may soon see the return of Balor's Demon persona. WWE is setting the stage for a big SmackDown next Friday at New York's Madison Square Garden. Brock Lesnar is set to appear on that show. Edge is set for a rematch with Seth Rollins next week. Cesaro beat Rollins via disqualification when Rollins introduced a steel chair into the match. Rollins used the chair to beat up on Cesaro after the match...before Edge ran out for the save.. Also set for next Friday, a contract signing between SmackDown Women's Champ Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair...for a title match at Extreme Rules. Getting back to last night's show...The Street Profits beat the SmackDown Tag Champs The Usos via disqualification in a non-title match. Sami Zayn pinned Dominik Mysterio with a Helluva Kick. Rick Boogs pinned Dolph Ziggler with a pumphandle slam. And Logan Paul showed up...and helped Happy Corbin lay out Kevin Owens. Charlotte Flair is now set to defend her Raw Women's Championship against Nia Jax on Monday's Raw. Yahoo News reports WWE has dissolved its subsidiary in Japan, after letting go of more than 100 wrestlers and staff over the past several months. (STINGER: AEW) AEW set the stage for All Out and beyond on last night's Rampage. Darby Allin used the Last Supper to pin Daniel Garcia in the main event. 2.0 jumped Allin after the match before CM Punk ran down to ringside and gave Darby an opening to fight them off. Punk and Allin had a staredown as the show ended. Kris Statlander overcame the odds to win a 2-on-1 match against Jamie Hayter & Rebel. Red Velvet was out after the match to help run off Dr. Britt Baker and her pals. Malakai Black beat Lee Johnson, and after the match Dustin Rhodes challenged Black to a match on next Wednesday's Dynamite. An in-ring promo by the TNT Champion Miro was interrupted by his challenger at All Out, Eddie Kingston...and Kingston managed to lay out Miro with a DDT. Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo, which was dropped from the All Out card due to travel issues is now set for next Friday's Rampage. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is at the MetLife Dome in Saitama Saturday and Sunday for two big Wrestle Grand Slam stadium shows. Sunday's show will see Shingo Takagi's return from a bout with COVID-19. He'll defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against EVIL in the main event. Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr. defend the IWGP Tag Titles in a 3-Way...against Tetsuya Naito & SANADA...and Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI. Hiromu Takahashi challenges Robbie Eagles for the IWGP Jr. Title. The Jr. TAG Titles are on the line as El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori defend against Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado. Plus, Kazuchika Okada & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan… And a special Stardom tag match: Momo Watanabe & Saya Kamitani vs. Giulia & Syuri. Start time on Sunday is 1:30AM Eastern. On Friday's New Japan Strong, Josh Alexander beat Daniel Garcia…TJP beat Rey Horus...and Hikuleo beat Matt Morris in the main event. He tried to continue the beating after the match, but Juice Robinson ran out for the save. This is the match fans of Major League Wrestling have been waiting for. The date is now set for a Title vs. Title clash between MLW Champion Jacob Fatu and the National Openweight Champion Alex Hammerstone. It's the last pay per view in the ThunderDome for the foreseeable future. Bobby Lashley defends the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre inside Hell In A Cell. It's McIntyre's last shot at the gold as long as Lashley holds it. Bianca Belair's SmackDown Women's Title defense against Bayley will now happen inside Hell In A Cell. Also, Rhea Ripley defends the Raw Women's Title against Charlotte Flair. Alexa Bliss vs. Shayna Baszler. Plus, two news matches announced Friday night: Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro...and Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn. The show Sunday begins at 8PM Eastern on Peacock in the U.S. and the WWE Network around the rest of the world. WWE is no longer promoting a Roman Reigns Universal Title defense against Rey Mysterio for Sunday's show. Roman Reigns did indeed defend the championship against Rey inside Hell In A Cell on Friday night's SmackDown. The match went more than 15 minutes and ended decisively, with Reigns submitting Rey with the guillotine choke. Apollo Crews & Commander Azeez beat Kevin Owens & Big E. Sami Zayn was on commentary, but left the announce desk to distract Owens...and that allowed Azeez to hit his Nigerian Nail for the pin. Shinsuke Nakamura dethroned King Corbin. Pinning him with the Kinshasa to win the Battle For The Crown. The advertised match between Angelo Dawkins and Otis never happened. Instead, Chad Gable joined Otis in an attack on Dawkins, targeting his shoulder. (STINGER: AEW) AEW put pieces in place for the coming weeks on a special Friday night Dynamite... Jake Hager defeated Wardlow via referee stoppage in their MMA Cage Fight. Hager caught Wardlow in a head and arm triangle in the third round and Wardlow passed out. Members of the Inner Circle and the Pinnacle brawled after the fight...and at one point, MJF punched out Dean Malenko. The Good Brothers and Matt Jackson beat Eddie Kingston, Penta El Zero Miedo and Frankie Kazarian in the main event. Nick Jackson snuck in from the crowd to attack Penta with the cold spray. Karl Anderson hit a Super Gun Stun and got the pin. Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page overwhelmed Darby Allin in a 2-on-1 handicap match. Page finished off Allin with the Ego's Edge. Brock Anderson was victorious in his Dynamite debut. He and Cody Rhodes beat QT Marshall & Aaron Solow...as Anderson rolled up Solow for the pin. Orange Cassidy pinned Cezar Bononi with the Orange Punch. Penelope Ford submitted Julia Hart. Miro showed up after the match and tangled with the Varsity Blondes. Brain Pillman Jr. will challenge Miro for the TNT Championship on Dynamite...on Wednesday, June 30th. WrestleMania tickets go on sale to the general public today starting at 10AM Eastern. WWE posted the health and safety protocols for the event on its website Thursday. Everyone with a ticket must complete a waiver & release..and a COVID-19 health questionnaire ahead of the show. On the day of the event, all fans 5 years or older MUST wear a mask over their mouth and nose. Everyone will get a mask when they enter the stadium...and security checkpoints will include a temperature check. There will be social distancing guidance throughout the stadium. Seating will be arranged in pods of 1 to 6 people. There are more details listed on WWE's website. A couple big matches on tonight's SmackDown. Edge will wrestle his first match on SmackDown in more than a decade. He'll take on Jey Uso. The winner will be the special enforcer for the Universal Title Match between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan at Fastlane. Also tonight. Sasha Banks defends her women's championship against Nia Jax. Tonight's Smackdown is the last stop before Sunday's Fastlane pay per view - the first on Peacock after the new WWE Network launched on that platform in the U.S. on Thursday. Another event added to WrestleMania week. NXT UK will hold a special event called “Prelude” on Thursday, April 8th. (STINGER: New Japan) The top singles titles in New Japan - the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and the IWGP Intercontinental Championship will be MERGED into a NEW, unified championship. The official announcement came early Monday. The IWGP Heavyweight Championship dated back to 1987. The IC Title was relatively newer - first being introduced in 2011. The lineages and histories of both titles will become part of the NEW IWGP World Heavyweight Championship...with Kota Ibushi will be recognized as the first man to hold it. He beat Testsuya Naito to retain the Intercontinental Title at Sunday's Castle Attack show. Ibushi will walk into the maine vent New Japan's 49th Anniversary Show Thursday - carrying the “double gold” for the final time. His opponent will be the ONE new champion crowned at the Castle Attack shows over the weekend. El Desperado is the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion for the first time...after chasing that title for SEVEN years. Despy beat El Phantasmo and BUSHI in a 3-way for the vacant title on Sunday's show. Despy pinned ELP after a pair of Pinche Locos. El Desperado is also one half of the Jr. Tag Champions. He's the first to hold both junior titles in New Japan at the same time...since Kushida. Also announced for Thursday's anniversary show...a couple first round matches in the New Japan Cup tournament - Tetsuya Naito vs. Great-O-Khan...Satoshi Kojima vs. Jeff Cobb... The full New Japan Cup field was also unveiled Monday. A few notable names - Bad Luck Fale is in the field - his first New Japan action since New Year Dash. Let's circle back to the Castle Attack shows over the weekend. Sunday's show saw Hiroshi Tanahashi get past Great-O-Khan, to hold onto the NEVER Championship. The Guerrillas of Destiny are still the heavyweight tag champs. They turned away the challenge of Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI. On Saturday's show, Kazuchika Okada beat EVIL in the main event. Jay White beat Tomohiro Ishii...and Toru Yano retained the provisional King Of Pro Wrestling title against Chase Owens. (STINGER: WWE) A major fork in WWE's road to WrestleMania tonight. The Miz is set to defend the WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley on Raw. The former champion, Drew McIntryre, hasn't been seen or heard from since Miz cashed in Money In The Bank and beat him for the title at Elimination Chamber. Daniel Bryan and Jey Uso will meet again on THIS Friday's SmackDown - INSIDE a steel cage. Their main event match last Friday ended in a double countout. The stakes this Friday are SLIGHTLY higher.
