He was honest enough to own up to the pain and lack of self-acceptance that got him there, and this was ultimately his path to freedom and happiness. In this episode, Wally teaches how to eliminate the victim mentality, which he describes as the root of our suffering. You may have made a lot of decisions you're not proud of, and as you go through those moments where you're experiencing pain, at some point, you'll have to accept it and take responsibility for it. You have to be willing enough to be transparent with yourself and other people. You've got to be willing enough to be transparent with yourself, and as you accept your feelings, and they become apparent, you can then start working on them. [21:28] The Power of Self-Compassion Self-compassion means giving yourself the same compassion you would offer to somebody else. In Kristin Neff's book, Self-Compassion, she cites the three elements of self-compassion, one of them is common humanity. The reason we isolate ourselves is because of shame. But once you learn to engage in common humanity and you start talking to people who have gone through what you've gone through, with similar emotions of shame and guilt, that can be so freeing. Then you realize you're not the only one going through that. [29:44] The Power of Unconditional Love The reason that unconditional love is the highest form of happiness and peace is that it's rooted in acceptance. Unconditional love means you accept somebody exactly as they are where they're staying with nothing to change. If you don't accept somebody for who they are, then there's no reason to keep them in your life. But if you're going to have a happy, peaceful, loving relationship with yourself and somebody else, and you want to get unconditional love, that means you accept all their goodness and faults. What are your targets for Q4 and entering 2023? The struggle of agents currently is not being clear with their numbers, targets, and metrics that are crucial in how to handle your business like a business. As a leader or agent, you have to know where you need to improve, and this only works if you track your numbers. You'll go back to the things that work and don't work. Giving you transparency and clarity on where you are right now in business and in life. John and Wally give out their strategy for being in the right headspace, keeping their stress level low, and being able to focus and have the right mindset. You'll get an amazing perspective on activities that will help, such as mindful meditation, journaling, and affirmations. This is where reluctance kicks in. Wally gave a sensible way to build momentum and help strengthen yourself to move barriers. Three years later, at age 30, he left his job to become a real estate agent. During his first 14 months, he sold 2 houses and fell in love with the business. He was later promoted to Sales Manager, Trainer/Coach, and Associate Broker. In 2006, he started coaching real estate agents full-time. He conducted more than 25,000 live training sessions, group phone training sessions, and one-on-one coaching calls. In addition to that, he is a self-trained direct-response copywriter with more than 26 years of experience. Drawing on his experience in working with small business owners and salespeople, in 2021 he created Phone Sales Secrets, a company that helps salespeople overcome Sales Call Reluctance and procrastination so they can create the businesses and lives they have always dreamed of. He currently lives in McKinney, TX with his two dogs, Camey and Greta, and has four children, Mary Frances, Emma, Alex, and Caroline.
