Want to be a guest or know someone would be a great fit? I am looking for military vets, active duty, military brats, veteran service orgs or anyone in the fitness industryNew Year resolve is loud, but it's not a plan. We're kicking off 2026 by saying the quiet part out loud: most resolutions crumble because they're vague, unrealistic, and built on motivation that fades by week two. I break down why two out of five people quit within 30 days, how “effort without strategy equals burnout,” and what to do instead when life gets messy, schedules bend, and your body hasn't agreed to a six-day grind. We walk through normal early setbacks—soreness, fatigue, a scale that doesn't budge—and reframe them as signs of adaptation, not failure. You'll learn how to beat all-or-nothing thinking with minimum viable workouts, design around friction points like distance and time, and build a routine that survives imperfect weeks. I share practical guidance for structuring your plan with four anchors: what you'll do, where you'll do it, when you'll do it (same days and times for eight weeks), and why it matters beyond aesthetics. If the future you wants to get off the floor with grandkids, carry groceries without strain, and move with confidence, your training should reflect that vision now. You'll also hear honest talk about fear, pain, and coming back after setbacks, plus how to use recovery, mobility, and small wins to keep momentum. No guilt, no drama, no cookie-cutter templates—just a clear, flexible system that fits your real life. She emphasizes that motivation alone isn't enough; it's the structure and strategy that make goals attainable. Rachel outlines a five-step process for creating a practical, actionable plan that works in real life. The steps include naming the goal, breaking it down into manageable pieces, building a supportive system, scheduling and protecting the plan, and reviewing and adjusting as you go. It is one year before the mid-term elections of 2026, and America faces a high stakes scenario that goes beyond who will run for public office. The conversation now is about who will be able to cast a ballot and whether all votes will be counted. The threats can be found in state legislative actions and presidential executive orders that seek to limit access to the ballot box based on disproven accounts of election fraud. In this episode of Power Station I am joined by Rebekah Caruthers, CEO of Fair Elections Center, a national nonprofit staffed by experts in organizing, public education, policy advocacy and litigation, strategies deployed to preserve and expand the voting rights of all eligible Americans. As Rebekah says, when our voting rights are undermined, democracy is at risk. Fair Elections Center also works with HBCUs, public universities and community colleges to ensure that student voting is unimpeded. Rebekah is a powerful leader whose pursuit of voting and civil rights is deeply embedded in her family's legacy. Her leadership at Fair Elections Center and collaboration with local, state and national advocates is critical to our democracy.

Look who's talking! That's right, it's me. Solo. Not in the studio, I'm actually in my Jeep on my way to a networking event. I wanted to stop and talk about something that's come up a few times in my coaching practice (and is actually quite common in business) and that is not having a plan. Not having a roadmap, not defining what it is you want to accomplish or what you want your business to be. Without a plan or an actual destination in mind, business owners just trudge along working day-in and day-out, but never accomplishing the growth and success that they had hoped for. This is a short episode where I talk about a line from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Paraphrased: If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there. Send us a textDid you know that as a writer who is building an audience, you have a secret superpower? It's one that not every writer unlocks, but has the power to enhance your writing journey AND create a built-in group of people invested in your success. Want to know what it is? Listen in on Episode 140 of Just One Simple Thing and find out! Many of you listening have a book to write. The book of your heart. The book of God's calling. As you write, you are also building an audience ... a community of people who believe in your message. And believe in you. You may think of your book as your own project...something you have to do alone. But what's the point in building a community if you can't take them along with you on your greatest journey? And when people feel like a valued part of something, they are invested in making it successful.Pick some ways from this list to involve your audience in your book project.Test out your content. Sharing some of the concepts and content of your book idea is a great way to see what is really resonating with your audience.Ask for examples. New concepts are easier to understand when there are concrete examples to go along with them.Get opinions on components of the book. Let your audience help you choose the title, subtitle, and cover art.Share parts of the journey. What did you learn about yourself or about God as you went through the process? Sharing these things makes your writer life more relatable, even to people who are not writers.Try a focus group. Get a few people together to read a chapter and discuss it with you. These are just a few ways that you can include your audience in your book project. And when it's time to launch that book, you'll have a whole group of people who are personally invested in you and the success of your book. Doesn't that sound a lot better than doing it all alone? ONE SIMPLE ACTION STEPPick one or two of these ideas and make a plan for including your audience. You don't have to do them all...a little can go a long way. And be sure to let me know how it works out for you! Thanks for hanging out with me here today. I hope these ideas are helpful to you. When I was Vice President of Creative Services at Conseco, we were always out of literature for key products. In the insurance business literature is all you have to sell, so these outages would cripple our sales team. Out out of stock list was routinely close to 300 different items and climbing. While we had numerous meetings on the subject nothing ever changed. So I stopped talking about procedures and policy and asked a simple question "If our goal was a back order level of 100 what would we do?" Defining a specific target, instead of vague "get better" gave a focus to our discussions. Every day we knew exactly how far we were from our target. As an added incentive, I offered to take the print team to any restaurant in town if we reduced our back orders to 100  by September. 1. The date gave us the sense of urgency we needed to keep this in the forefront of our discussions. We kicked off every production meeting with a brief conversation about the back-order list and the ideas started flowing.  We instituted a "red flag" for any project associated with back order items. Every team, editors, designers, writers and account executives agreed if a red tag landed on their desk it was their first priority. Slowly the numbers started to improve;  We posted the daily results on the way so we could see our progress in real time. . On September 1, we went to lunch at Cafe Nora. There are several important lessons for small business owners in this story: Define your goals, with a specific time line If you are serious create and follow an action plan Track your progress Involve others, do not assume you can do it on your own.  We would never have succeeded with out the support of the printer, inventory team, and other managers.

Women's Empowerment Junkie's

Hi loves! In today's episode, Abbie and I discuss the vital topic of helping a woman in need leave an abusive relationship. Although Abbie didn't know this woman personally, she was quick to step in when approached for assistance. We talked about the importance of having a plan and "backup" in case things go awry. On the day of the departure, Abbie met the woman at her house to help her gather her belongings and leave safely. Thankfully, this woman had prepared ahead of time, ensuring that the process went as smoothly as possible. Leaving an abusive situation is inherently dangerous for anyone, especially for women. Abbie was proactive in informing the police about the situation, just in case, and she made sure the woman wasn't alone with her abuser. If you need help, please reach out—whether to a friend, an acquaintance, or anyone you feel comfortable asking for support. We are here for you. Remember, you are the one who can decide when and if the time is right for you to take action. Start creating a plan and gather your important documents so you can escape quickly when the moment presents itself. The woman she helped is a true warrior. She recognized her need for help, made a plan, and bravely asked a virtual stranger for assistance. Since leaving, she has not looked back. It is not easy, and making such a decision can be painful, and potentially dangerous. Please prioritize your safety and let someone know you need help. Thank you, Abbie, for being there and ensuring the woman's safety. And to the woman who left, we love and admire you. You are a warrior. If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out to the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or text BEGIN to 88788. Stay safe, loves.
