Send us a Text Message. Is it possible for a place to be haunted only because you want it to be? Is it possible to create a ghost simply by thinking about it? A group in Canada claims to have done exactly that. This week we talk about the Philip Experiment. In 1973, members of the Toronto Society for Psychical Research set out to determine if paranormal activity associated with mediumistic activities like séances and other group settings might be psychokinetic and not evidence for ghosts. Their results were not only astounding but have broad implications for haunted spaces. We also cover Zombie Boy, a similar type of "haunting" that was investigated by Amy Bruni and Adam Berry on the show Kindred Spirits.Psi Encyclopedia - https://psi-encyclopedia.spr.ac.uk/If you have an experience, story, or anything else you'd like to share with us, you can email us at Opeaghost@gmail.com You can also follow us on Instagram, Join our Facebook group : Ope, A Ghost, or Follow us on YoutubeToodles!

Rick Genest was born on 7th August 1985 in Quebec, Canada. By the time he was 17 he had become fully engrossed into the punk rock scene, and lived on the streets. He and his friends would sleep under bridges, squat in empty houses and generally live a chaotic and care free life - washing cars to earn enough money to get by. When he turned 21 he met a tattoo artist called Frank Lewis. According to Rico, Lewis was the mastermind behind the skeletal motif - a skeleton body suit complete with bugs, cobwebs, barbed wire, rotting flesh and tendons. Zombie Boy spent the next few years touring the world appearing at events, performing on stage, DJing, filming music videos, appearing in TV shows and films, as well as walking cat walks at fashion shows. However his career was unfortunately cut short. On 1st August 2018, Rick Genest was found dead outside his apartment complex, six days before his 33rd birthday after falling from his 4th floor balcony and landing on the pavement below. ✅ Let's connect: Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/unusualweekly Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/unusualweekly Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/unusualweekly YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/unusualasusual Fact Analysis: Although careful research is implemented to assure accurate and correct information, sometimes it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction (or ‘humbug', as P.T. We always hope that the stories we share with you on The Apple Seed spark memories for you to share with the people that you love. Sometimes those memories are sparked by listening to personal stories, and other times by listening to tall tales and fairy tales. And this time of the year it seems fitting to bring you some mildly spooky stories, nothing too terrifying. So sit back, relax, and get ready to have the memories wash over you as you listen to stories about zombies, vampires, and giant pumpkins.  On today's episode, enjoy the following: “Boo Stew” by Donna Washington from Angel's Laughter (11:15)Today's episode features a couple of stories written by or with kids, like this one called "Boo Stew". And in fact, in this story about a disgusting recipe for stew, there are even a few kid performers, led by Apple Seed favorite Donna Washington.  “Zombie Boy” by Octavia Sexton from Appalachian Haint Tales (5:59)A lot of the stories that Octavia Sexton tells are 'Jack Tales', like Jack and the Beanstalk or Jack the Giant Killer. This next story is fashioned after some of those Jack Tales. And speaking of stories made up by kids, this next tale was written by Octavia Sexton's grandson and it's called "Zombie Boy".  “The Blood-Covered Vampire” by Richard Martin from The Well of the World's End and other Tales (2:01)And now for a few stories that are really just jokes dressed up like scary stories. This first one is from England-born, Germany-based storyteller, Richard Martin about a seriously un-scary group of blood-thirsty vampires.  “The Voice in the Graveyard” by Big Joe Pagliuca from Spooky Ooky (9:06)This next story-with-a-punchline story is from "Big" Joe Pagliuca. The moniker "Big" Joe exists because that's how his preschool class could differentiate him from "Little" Joe, one of his students. Now generally, if you hear a spooky voice emanating from a graveyard, it's safe to say you should steer clear of said graveyard. Not true in this story, though.  “Long Bony Finger” by Liz Weir from Boom Chicka Boom (3:38)"Guess what I can do with my long bony finger and my ruby red lips!" is a chant heard throughout this story from the great Irish storyteller, Liz Weir. And that sounds like that's got 'scary story' written all over it. But in keeping with the last couple of stories, it's really just a setup for a joke.  “Samurai Over My Head” by Donna Washington from Growing Up Army (10:41)We started the hour with a Donna Washington story and we'd like to bring you another one here. And although it contains a seance it's actually a sweet story featuring Donna Washington's parents.  "Feegbah" by Bill Gordh (7:21)We thought we'd wrap up today's episode with a little musical adventure from Bill Gordh and his banjo. Have you ever been to a county fair and seen a giant pumpkin? Well, you've likely never seen one as big as the one in this story. A pumpkin so large and ornery that it'll chase you down if you disturb its sleep.

Welcome to another installment of the Heart Beats Series. This is a series we explore the stories of those making an impact outside of the music industry. I started this podcast in music, and while music artists will always be the foundation of Auxoro, I felt that I was watching fascinating stories outside of music pass me by. So, I created a space for these stories to exist called Heart Beats. This time we are going to do things a little bit differently. But first, let me tell you about our guest this week, Sam Brunell who started a company called Little Sam’s Art (@littlesamsart). Sam draws vivid, colorful, and striking sketches of music artists, actors, cartoon characters, and others. He makes some of the best artwork I’ve seen, and I don’t say that lightly. These aren’t just portraits. Sam incorporates elements from each person’s life into the artwork. For example, in a recent sketch of Ariana Grande, Sam included a mini sketch of Mac Miller covering his face and peaking through one eye (from the Vulture profile, the last interview he did before he died). Sam also included an Eevee, one of Ariana’s most recent tattoos, in the portrait. He describes this style as “portraits within portraits.” Sam, now 26, has been drawing since six years old. He’s done some epic collaborations, including one with Justin Bieber, and his drawings have even been featured on Will Smith’s Instagram. As a kid, Sam endured multiple, serious surgeries to address spinal problems and extremity issues. On his website he says “life was a big struggle for me when growing up, undergoing many serious surgeries from a young age. Drawing and creating characters I wanted to be around seemed like an escape from it all. Ever since I remember putting pencil to paper, I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.” I think Sam makes amazing art and I reached out to have a conversation with him on the podcast. He responded, saying “I’d love to do it, but I have really bad speaking anxiety. One of my worst fears is giving speeches. I broke down in college before I had to give a presentation, and ever since then I can’t do it.” Even though Sam felt uncomfortable speaking, I still wanted to have him on the podcast. So I sent him some questions over email, and he sent me back his answers so I will be reading them for Sam. Without further ado, here is our latest installment of the Heart Beats series with Sam Brunell.
