Did you think we vanished and stopped? Nope, just stalled during the chilly winter months. Alix, Paul, Steve and Ian are back in the studio gearing up for another solid Dads+Bikes podcast experience. This time around we discuss sleeping patterns, specifically what to do and what to avoid with young children. Do you do sleep training? Perhaps hire a 'Baby Sleep Consultation' to help you through the night? Or muster through the dark hours with a crying toddler. We break it all down for your listening pleasure. Tune in and leave us a comment! Song choice: 9 to 5 by Grady Follow us here on Instagram. Check out all our podcasts here!
Did you forget about us? We hope not as the cold winter has hit our souls but we've been really busy staring at our bikes. Alix, Steve, Paul and Ian are back in the garage talking about how to successfully winterize your bike. We discuss what are the correct steps to do and how to avoid costly errors when the Earth thaws and you fire up your bike in the Spring. Basic steps are to add fuel stabilizer, drain the bowls, tenderize your battery, and if possible, get your wheels off the ground. Solid education happens on Dads+Bikes! Most of this episode we casually speak in a beautiful New York accent. Check it out! Follow us here on Instagram. Check out all our podcasts here!

If there is one thing we've realized about motorcycles is that this healthy obsession continues to grow with a solid community. As we continue down the road in Season 2 of the Dads + Bikes podcast experience, we welcome Nick from Augment Motorworks into the Clubhouse! Nick, who is the owner and founder of Augment is truly making a name for himself as the go-to shop for builds, repairs and education. Building a reputable and trusted community is part of his nature. We discuss how a solid family foundation gave him the needed support to open the doors during the pandemic. We also go deep on what skills are needed to repair and restore vintage bikes, while also talking about the progression of modern bikes -- what works, what doesn't and what we should stay away from. We are back in action with the official kickoff of Season 2 of the Dads + Bikes podcast experience! While we've been riding in the warm summer months so much has happened. In this first episode of Season 2 of Dads+Bikes we catch up on where our kids have been... and also have no clue sometimes of their whereabouts. Our kids have turned 12 all the way down to 6-months old. So many changes from dealing with body odor to knowing how to deal with others. We also discuss instilling good habits into our children at an early age. We also talk about one of the greatest quotes of all time from one of the greatest movies of all time, which is Dodgeball. "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball." This rings true with the emotional rollercoaster of our children at times. Follow us here on Instagram! Check out all our podcasts here!
Episode 50! A milestone has been reached with the Dads+Bikes podcast experience! Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian are in the Clubhouse celebrating with all the food, drinks, and great conversation of being the best dads we can be! We discuss how we can randomly buy stuff without learning how to use it, but learn along the way. Just like parenting! In this episode, we actually go into a deep discussion of what it takes to fix and restore our bikes up. That in itself is mind-blowing. Give it a listen and us a chance! Follow us here on Instagram for all things that involve life. Song choice: Ho Hey by The Lumineers
We are almost at the stellar 50 episode mark but before we hit that milestone we welcome you to Episode 49 of the Dads+Plus Bikes Podcast Experience. Back in the garage with Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian discuss all things like, such as high eBay fees, Slivovitz, snowboarding jackets, and growing babies. We also talk about how 'helping hands' -- with other family members or friends -- can really help raise good children. Playing games, playing Mahjong, and getting dumplings made for a great childhood. Follow us here on Instagram for all our bike updates! Song choice #1: Lucky Numbers by Generationals
Welcome back to the Dads+Bikes podcast and this week Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian are back in The Clubhouse. We continue our conversation about great customer service and how time has become irrelevant due to the internet -- the doors are really never closed online. In addition, we talk about how business shifted during COVID and how companies have fundamentally changed their models and procedures to adapt to the 'new normal.' It's all about east of purchase on the internet. While we opted to avoid conversations about bikes, food, and parenting in this podcast, we had a good time hanging out and think you'll have a good time listening! Follow up on Instagram here for all our bike updates! Song choice: Ain't Got No Money by Justin Townes Earle
Welcome back to another episode of the Dads+Bikes podcast experience. We start off this week with Alix, Steve, Paul, and Ian with a bang by discussing the flat Earth theory, or some say a conspiracy, which quickly gets re-routed by Steve to shout out a solid customer experience by a winter gear company called Dope. The snowboard jacket he was looking for was not available in Canada but somehow, possibly by Steve's natural charm, found a way to ship him one. In addition, the company has a "fit finder' that allows you to choose your size by images, such as 'Flatter', 'Average,' and 'Rounded.' Perhaps they will go the distance without being so kind and add in the 'dad potbelly.' Well worth a look into... and they are not even a sponsor of this 5-star podcast. Following up... what are your thoughts on flat Earth? Check out our Instagram for more great content! Song choice #1: Organ Doner by DJ Shadow Song choice #2: Do Right To Me Baby (Do Unto Others) by Bob Dylan Song choice: #3: Part-Time Lover by Stevie Wonder
This week on the Dads+Bikes podcast experience Alix and Ian discuss the shows and movies that made us, specifically Arrested Development and the banger of a movie Armageddon with Owen Wilson being the true lead actor. We quickly talk about how entertainment for kids these days are created by all the gazillionaires YouTubers such as LazarBeam, Mark Rober, and Mr. Beast. It really cool to see this on-demand media is also a form of education -- some of what to do and what not to do. The key is to exit the screen and get outside to do things rather than ending up in a continuous scroll into the ether. Song choice: Hot Funky and Sweaty by The Soul Lifters
Back in action once again in The Clubhouse for the epicenter of all podcasts, The Dads+Bikes podcast experience. This week, we discuss marriage and how long it took for each of us to propose. We also went off a tangent from this conversation into the more important discussion of leather boots, specifically Viberg Boots. One of the key points that we discovered is to lace up a boot or to not lace up with a slip-on boot. These are the finer details of why you come to listen to this podcast. Follow us on Instagram here - we actually post pics of our bikes there. Song choice: Brain Freeze Side A, Pt. 4
Welcome back to another episode of the Dads+Bikes podcast experience. We are back with Alix, Steve, Paul, and Ian and discussing how actually communicating with others at a young age helps build skills to excel later in life in the business world. As our children grow, it's the role of the parent to guide them in the best direction of their dreams and interests, but also based on our life experience and being supportive. We discuss how our kids are not like us but we need to help them be like them. The question was raised on this gem: "I can teach my kid how to be like me but how do you teach your kid to be like them." We also venture down the path of allowing a certain percentage of success when parenting. Aiming for 100% success when asking your kids to do something or try something new is heading down a road of unfulfilled expectations. However, possibly going for 50% or 85% leaves room for growth. Song choice #1: Lonely Boy by the Black Keys Song choice #2: Flight of the Flamingo by the Flamingosis Follow us on Instagram! Check us out here!
We are back online and in-person for another fantastic episode of Dads+Bikes with Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian. During this pod, we discuss how COVID has impacted homelife, specifically kids during online school and how we want the best for them. It's important to know the limits and when to turn off the screen time and simply explore outside to educate and maintaining balance. From a work perspective, we talk about how COVID has changed the 'rat race' mentallity and how we can still do business remotely. This has fundamentally changed how the business world works. There is now more individiual efforts versus a team environment. In addition, office hours are not the typical 9-5 during COVID and work is expected at off times with no shut-off times. We are back in the Clubhouse with Alix, Steve, and Ian talking cars! This is the Dads + Bikes podcast experience and we have a fine structure in place. Right out of the gate we talk about our first cars and how naming them is key to loving them, such as The Jeepster, Beefsquatch, or Mouse car. This exquisite conversation progressed to speeding, rolling stops, and crashing cars. All in all, as a #dadhack, we suggest obeying the law at all times. There are practical cars for your family, like an SUV or a wagon, then there are sports cars and supercars. We talk about how the outside of the expensive vehicles is a work of art, while we found ourselves disappointed in the interiors as some feel dated. Overall, it's best to have a ride - car, truck, SUV, motorbike - that suits your needs style. Song choice #1: In the air tonight by Phil Collins Song Choice #2: Hell N Back by Baker
Once again we are in The Clubhouse with Alix, Steve, Ian, and special guest Mirco! This week discuss injuries and how it's always the last run of the day that kills our body and sends us to the hospital. Adrenaline is a kicker that can carry you through any bodily harm. The best part of this podcast is the discussion around liquor, specifically Slivovitz, and how it can either wreak havoc on your body or heal your issues. From here, we discuss Mirco's next venture into the podcast from meatballs to possibly providing beef sandwiches or making cappelletti. Apparently, Mirco's brother Fab makes a mean Tiramisu and we're down to try this out. Finally, we talk about when the right time is to encourage kids to do chores and how much to reward them for it. Follow us on Instagram here as we post new content almost daily! Song choice #1: Samui Sunrise by Saib Song choice #2: Rocket Fuel by DJ Shadow Feat De La Soul
Once again we are back in The Clubhouse and the final guest appearance in Season 1 with friend and entrepreneur Mirco, owner of MyBabbo. We start our discussions by reminiscing about the rock classics of the 70s and 80s, specifically Journey's Can't Stop Believing. We quickly transitioned to how this song is always played at weddings and will eventually hurt us on the dance floor. Speaking of injuries, as we become older our bodies wear out and atrophy. We're not as young as we were and for the sake of our children, we tend to have a 'safety first' mindset when working out. We also discussed the importance of having a routine and sticking to it, even when it's tough. Follow us on Instagram here! Back once again in The Clubhouse with Alix, Steve, Ian, and special guest star Mirco! This week on Episode 39 of the Dads + Bikes podcast experience, we started off by talking about something revolutionary -- motorbikes! This is uncharted territory during this podcast but we nailed it off the top by discussing the rewiring of Alix's Kawasaki. We digressed to discuss food (always a solid conversation) and specifically comfort food and family traditions. Steve talked about having dumplings as a youth with his parents making 'bonus dumplings' that had something special inside. On the journey to demolishing 20 of these dumplings, you might stumble upon one with a penny, which signified wealth, one with a peanut that promised good health, and a date that suggested love is on the horizon. Check us out on Instagram and our progress here! Song choice #1: Wildcat by Ratatat Song choice #2: Gimme Shelter by Rolling Stones Song choice #3: Hot for Teacher by Van Halen
Back once again in The Clubhouse with Mirco as our special guest! This week we discuss photo albums and how this form of memory a lost treasure. What was once a need to produce a physical book is now replaced by the ease of smartphone with quick access to hundreds of pics. There is something special about cracking open a photo book with your kids and seeing how far they've come... and also challenging them to remember the times you had as a family. If you're up for supporting Canadian and family-owned businesses and want to take all your pictures and turn them into keepsakes, such as blankets, mugs, albums, head over to MyBabbo. We didn't discuss bikes or food in this episode, which is all good and right on our pod structure, however, we did talk about how kids change over the years, and as parents, we find ourselves just staring at them in wonder and wanting time to slow down. "Nothing happens in the freezing cold," says Mirco, who is this week's special guest of the Dads + Bikes podcast experience. In Episode 37, Alix, Steve, Ian, and Mirco discuss the exhilaration of taking risks, specifically the option of doing the Skywalk at the CN Tower or bungee jumping into the ether while on vacation. Continue to create those impressions and tell those stories for years. We also talk about Sauble Bike Nights, which is led by local Brian Atkins who owns Amicis Coffee and GT Cycle, which is a weekly ride for anyone and everyone visiting the beach. Mirco discusses his family-first business called My Babbo, which helps you transform memories into stories with keepsake books and video tributes. For reference, 'Babbo means 'Dad' in Italian. The company has seen many changes over the years and works with individuals and businesses, specifically funeral homes. Now that My Baboo is 10-years old and a local business, Mirco says it's so important to know how to pivot through the years. The beautiful reference is the episode of Friends where Ross bought a new couch. Check out our Instagram and join us on our journey to restore our vintage motorcycles! Back in the garage is Alix, Steve, Ian, and special guest star Mirco. In Episode 36, we discuss the greatest topic right off the top. Bread. Specifically bread and how a freshly baked loaf is life-changing. From there we talk about Steve's garage and how he's progressed in cleaning it up and left behind his early hoarder stage. While he thinks he's 'hoarding' all others that experience the garage sees a treasure trove of collectibles and an insight into Steve's mind. It's hard to believe, but 70 minutes into Mirco's visit to the Dads+Bikes Podcast, he asks "I thought this is Dads+Bikes and we have not even spoken a word about bikes!" He is absolutely correct and astute to our podcast structure. We talk about Ian's newfound Instagram brother in Indonesia who is sending bike parts to help us on our journey to restore the Kawasaki 125's. The gang also discovers that our strongest memories are tied toward your sense of smell. Listen in around the 18.30-minute part for Mirco's fondest smell. A quote to remember and live by. "I want some meatballs!" Preach Mirco, preach! This episode of the Dads+Bike Podcast experience is brought to you by the hands of Mirco who handmade his world-famous meatballs. The ingredients are secret but the flavour is beyond expectations. Apart from bringing the good in a hot crockpot, Mirco also purchased buns from San Remo Bakery. "You cannot underestimate the importance of a good bun." - Mirco Rosetti While we devour the meatballs, we also went down the path of understanding personalities, specifically with the Myers-Briggs personality test. According to this test, there are 16 different personalities that humans have and we all fill into one of these personalities. The names range from the Entertainer, Adventurer, Debator, Executive, and others. The reason for the influx of meatballs was passed down from Mirco's mom. We discussed how important it is to pass down these recipes and traditions to those in your family. Check out our Instagram and join us on our journey to restore our vintage motorcycles! Praise neighbourhood friend and father of two Mirco for bringing us food, specifically his world-renowned homemade meatballs. Mirco joins the Dads+Bikes crew Alix, Steve and Ian to discuss parenting and food. Mostly food, which all perfect. From a dad's perspective, we discuss when and who should yell in the family. Mirco gives the analogy of a pitcher in baseball and how he or she cannot always throw fastballs -- the other team will eventually get used to the pitch and own the game. Mix it up now and then and throw curveballs, sliders, knuckleballs so your kids understand who are the managers in the family. We also all discuss trash-talking our dads at one point in time with the ultimate ending is an onslaught of furry that imprinted our childhood. Whether the tipping point being called a Blad Eagle and getting the "Grampie Knuckle," or away on a family trip and seeing the Banana Flambe, we all come to the conclusion to treat all humans and animals with the utmost kindness. Watches. Yes, we're into watches. We also like bikes, food, and music. We're four dads in a buffet wanting to eat everything and do it. We're into everything and loving life. We're back in the garage, also now known as the Clubhouse, discussing the style and history of watches, specifically the G-Shock and how it can handle extreme sports and vibrations while riding. We also discuss astrology and astronomy and come to the conclusion that one is based on science and one is based on crazy. You can decide for yourself which is which. From a moon and music connection, Steve points out that Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon should actually be called the Far Side of the Moon as there is no actual dark side to the moon. We talk about disconnecting from technology and removing our watches and just flowing through the day, without care to know the time. We talk bikes. We talk dads. We talk food. The trifecta is alive and well in episode 32 of the Dads+Bikes podcast experience. In this short discussion, we start off by going over what parts are needed to fire up our bikes and also the best places to purchase parts, whether it be a local bike shop like GP Bikes or a mass-consumer site like Amazon. If you're into the stock market and betting your house, then you can relive the GameStop saga, also known as Gamestonk. Some made money and some lost mega cash. We decided it's best for your health to skip the FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and invest in bikes or burgers. Ian also discussed a bad decision he made in 1997 to sell his Microsoft and Intel stocks during a trip to Vegas... and lost it all. Song choice #1: One In A Million by Half Pint Song choice #2: Forest Whitiker by Brother Ali Song choice #3: Herewego by Jinsang
We are in the Clubhouse, also known as Steve's garage, for yet another episode of the Dads+Bikes podcast experience. Update on our global domination: We are now in 9 countries, including beautiful Brazil and Kenya! We're thrilled you are with us during our slow but purpose-driven growth. In Episode 31, we discuss the stages of how kids grow from the diaper to the pull-up stage, then transition out of randomly peeing the bed. Talking about kids here not adults. We also embark on a conversation about how kids play musical beds, which is kids hopping into various beds on various days to have sleepovers with their parents. Paul said it eloquently by saying, "I'm down to ride with all the phases." A continuation from our previous podcasts about making 'imprints' of memories as we discuss actually printing physical pictures and making scrapbooks. If you into supporting local businesses like we are, check out My Babbo. We talk about food again, no bikes (but that's changing). Our podcast structure is sound, raw, and honest. For this pod we were fueled by a fresh batch of beef jerky, specifically, the spicy flavour called 'Burning House' by Village Jerky. Back once again in the greatest garage in Ontario with the Dads+Bikes Podcast Experience. Alix, Steve, and Ian discuss how our forefathers led the way for us and how they dealt with the passing of loved ones. As usual, we also talk about food and how great it is. Specifically, getting terrible feedback from our kids when we put wholesome Ontario-grown vegetables in our homemade works of art. Bill Waterson, the genius who created Calvin & Hobbes, is on our podcast agenda once again and how we all can relate to the adventures he created. Pretty solid work to get your kids into at an early age for all the humour and life lessons. FYI: This is the first episode where Alix experiences Slivovitz, a beautiful type of plum brandy. It's also the last episode Alix experiences Slivovitz. "This Slivovitz is intense." As a closing to this description, we discuss no bikes. None. It's part of our winning formula and its evolving structure. Song choice: Wild Summer by Flamingosis Check out our Instagram and join us on our journey to restore our vintage motorcycles!
Consuming your time once again is the global sensation called The Dads+Bikes Podcast Experience! We are back in the garage with Alix, Steve, and Ian discussing family heritage, specifically asking if you could go back in time to when your parents were kids and if you'd be friends with them? Do you know your parents and their interests? We dig deep into the roots of our parents and grandparents and ultimately came to the conclusion that their struggles and sacrifices worked out. Our families are now are better off from their early decisions. Imagine leaving everything behind and starting over - we found ourselves grateful for those initial actions by our parents. In this podcast episode, there is no talk about bikes or food. But we thought about both. Check out our Instagram and join us on our journey to restore our vintage motorcycles! Song choice: Talking In Your Sleep by The Romantics
Lets riiiiddeee!! Back in the garage with Alix, Steve, and Ian for another Dads+Bikes podcast experience. This week starts off by deconstructing beef jerky as Ian is deep down a rabbit hole of starting a business. The choice of meat is not the usual top round but a delicious sirloin cut. We get hungry on this podcast from talking truths and drinking. Beef jerky is a solid buffer to curb this. We also unpack the idea of having one-on-one time with your child or children. Every now and then it's important just to craft out some a few hours, or a day, where you can hang for needed guy time or daddy-daughter time. Have a heart-to-heart on what's going on and let them direct the flow of the day. A recap from Episode 27 and a continuation on this great podcast -- Alix is preparing for his vasectomy and we suggest chilling all day, playing video games with bags of your favourite frozen vegetables close by. For all the dads getting a vasectomy, here's our latest dad hack here: You do not need a "scrotum case' to have vasectomy success. We briefly talk about the power of storytelling and the importance of doing what you love for a career. If you're working for a company or self-employed, and it's not enjoyable, or you're not being fulfilled, it's vital to live with no regrets and make the best decisions possible. Time, which we discussed in a previous episode, is the only non-depreciating asset we all have and should be used wisely by doing what we enjoy with whom we enjoy. 1. Don't be a Nigel and go for a walk the next day. 2. There is a difference between soldering and cauterizing and one works with a vasectomy and one doesn't. 3. Enjoy the downtime. Back once again in the garage of all garages, which is home to the greatest dad podcast, is the Dads+Bikes podcast experience. This week, Alix, Steve, Ian, and special guest star Allen discuss hot sauces and how they make or break a meal. Somehow we transition from hot sauce to going for a vasectomy. Out of the gate, for those who have yet to go for the snip snip... it's a smooth process and the anxiety/anticipation about this major move is more in your mind and overblown. Just remember a few things (you'll need to listen to the pod to find more in detail): 1. Don't be a Nigel and go for a walk the next day. Things will blow up and go terribly wrong. 2. There is a difference between soldering and cauterizing and one works with a vasectomy and one doesn't. 3. Enjoy the downtime and binge all the shows. Back one again in the garage with Alix, Steve, Ian, and special guest Allen! This week we discuss burgers once again and Allen gives his thoughts of how a local establishment called Jumbo Burgers brings him back to his childhood roots. We also dig deep into different burger joints and attempt to understand how all and why burgers vary from place to place. For those interested, we talk about Jumbo Burger, Rudy's, Hero Burger, Apache Burger, and Moe's. Following the glorious topic of burgers, we give a big shoutout to No Frills and its wicked playlist while shopping for groceries. You can check out the playlist here on YouTube. Into hot sauce? We are. Well, some of us but not when we experience "butt lava!" We talk about where we are individually on the Scoville Heat Units (SHU), specifically ghost peppers, chili oil, and one called the 'flashbang.' Welcome back to the Dads + Bike podcast experience with Alix, Steve, Ian, and special guest Allan! This week, Steve unboxes his brand new Bell Riot helmet that he scored from GP Bikes -- shoutout to the great customer service. In case you ever find yourself with a flooded engine, Alix also gives tips and tools that can use to help you get back on the road and ride. We also discuss the difference between walking, peddling a bike, and riding a motorcycle and how each has its own unique way of being 'in the frame.' This is a direct quote from Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Finally, any sort of littering, loitering, leaving poop on lawns, or giving the finger to anyone out of frustration is something that one should avoid. We dig deep into this topic with several real-world examples. Song choice: Concrete Schoolyard by Jurassic 5
Back in the garage for another episode of the Dads + Bikes / Friday Night Bikes / Satan's Chauffers podcast experience. In this episode, we dig deep into how parents can set boundaries and responsibilities with their kids when hanging with friends. We also have special guest Allan in the studio who discusses what it's like to have two teenage daughters and how social media is helping and possibly hurting their social lives, specifically how to be safe online. Emotions are cool and it's also cool to allow your child to understand, share and feel the range of emotions. Don't let them bottle things up and this goes to parents, too. Check out our Instagram and join us on our journey to restore our vintage motorcycles! Song choice: Dr Hook - "Cover Of The Rolling Stone"
We are on tap for another week and this time around Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian welcome special guest Allan to the show! Right off the bat, we dig into listener questions with #dadhacks and specifically the button onesie and how you only buy them for people who you want to frustrate during the first stages of raising a child. Zippers are the way to go as they reduce stress. We also discuss how to support your partner during the first few months of your child, honing in on postpartum depression. It's real and there are many places to learn more about how you can give your all. It's so important to also take of yourself. Have you ever heard about Beetle Wrestling? It's a thing and you have to check it out. We also segway into Dr. Suess, Robert Munsch, and Shel Silverstein with his foray into the rock history books with Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show, specifically "Queen of the Silver Dollar." Check out our Instagram and join us on our journey to restore our vintage motorcycles!
Back in the garage with Alix, Steve, and Ian for yet another episode of Dads + Bikes / Satan's Chauffeurs / Friday Night Bikes podcast experience! We are a buffet of names and also provide you with a buffet of entertainment and knowledge. In this conversation, we discuss how to encourage kids to be entrepreneurs and teach them to create and sell items (lemonade, cookies, sticks) when they really want something new. Of course, dads give guidance and support to reach the end goal and witness the payoff of earning money to buy things for themselves. We also talk about the value of listening to music with headphones -- such as Maggot Brain or Zaireeka by the Flaming Lips -- as it sets a new vibe inside or outside the house. Curious about time? We dig into this and find out what time is and what time is not. Apparently, back in the day before the sundial, it was the Sumerian civilization that started telling time by the sections in your ten fingers (not thumbs). So, eight fingers with 3 sections per finger (called finger tarsals) equals 24 hours in a day. Mind is blown. A bit of a teaser for all our listeners. The next person that hits us up on our Instagram with your bike, or eating a burger, we'll send you a free shirt!
Blackjack episode is here are Alix, Steve, and Ian continue to discuss customizations and how you can easily restore any bike with days - either OEM or aftermarket. From a dad perspective, kids have us wrapped around our fingers. It's those neuropathways that are so ingrained or imprinted, that kids know exactly who to come to for snacks, tech, and good times. It's also so important to establish inside jokes with all members of your family. We discuss music, specifically Hip Hop and Jazz. Even these two genres are decards apart, they flow together impeccably well. Individually, Jazz has no start and no clear ending, especially when driving on long road trips. A bit of a teaser for all our listeners as we have a value add for you. The next person that hits us up on our Instagram with your bike, or eating a burger, we'll send you a free shirt! Song choice: Caught Me Thinking by Bahamas
This is the Dads + Bikes / Satan's Chauffers Podcast Experience. We are back in the garage with Alix, Steve, and Ian where we talk about expansion chambers on a 2-stoke motorized bicycle, which gives you enhanced power output. Ian also gives an important bike update as he's been given the green light to be his own man and restore the 1978 Kawasaki KE 125. As it turns out, clear communication is all that's needed when speaking with your wife. We discuss life and knowing your own limitations and playing within them. The great idea of riding a bike -- motorized bicycle or motorcycle -- is that you are an active participant in the landscape. This statement is straight from the book Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance. As we venture towards the spring, we talk about taking the motorcycle safety course and what's needed to be successful. We also go deep into a conversation about customization and how "it's all possible." A bit of a teaser for all our listeners as we have a value add for you. The next person that hits us up on our Instagram with your bike, or eating a burger, we'll send you a free shirt!
Right out of the gate, Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian talk about the benefits of carrying a pocket knife and useful they can be to first-time dads to open up all sorts of things, such as toys and diapers. We also come full circle and discuss how you can bring 'conscious productivity and positivity' to your family by passing on generational habits. In addition, we discover that having a family is very much like alternating current (AC) and not direct current (DC). The role of a dad is to teach his children, but it's also the role of the child to teach the dad. The golden rule of first-time parenting is to have a block of 4-hours of continuous sleep where you or your partner should not be interrupted. Finally, Ian tries to tries to understand what the hell went wrong when his muffler flies off his bike and vanishes from existence to disturb the entire West End of Toronto. Song choice: I'm an Adult Now by The Pursuit of Happiness. A bit of a teaser for all our listeners. The next person that hits us up on our Instagram with your bike, or eating a burger, we'll send you a free shirt!
With all the technical issues behind us, Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian are back in the garage for the Dads+Bikes / Satan's Chauffeurs podcast experience. This podcast started off by discussing the necessary motorcycle gear for safety and for lifestyle. We were also educated about 'ATGATT,' which stands for All The Gear All The Time. A big shoutout to Mike and Ashton from GP Bikes in Whitby for going the extra mile to make and making Steve's dream come true about his matte black Bell Bullet helmet. Solid customer service. Brian, one of our loyal listeners, asked us a question as he's on the cusp of having his first child (congrats Brian!). His question was basically "at what point do you guide your child in the direction you want versus letting them unfold naturally?" Paul took the wheel and suggested to simply focus on what's within two feet of you versus 250 kilometers down the road. Have a listen though, the explanation is spot on. A bit of a teaser for all our listeners. The next person that hits us up on our Instagram with your bike, or eating a burger, we'll send you a free shirt!
Back once again with Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian for the Dads+Bikes / Satan's Chauffeurs podcast experience. This week, we start off by discussing music and how different genres represent different phases in our life. Sometimes you need a jolt of Fugazi, the soul of Foreign Exchange, feel the funk of 'And the Living Is Easy' by Guts, or chill with 'Northern Sky' by Nick Drake. We discuss the importance of supporting local businesses, giving back to others, and showing that a bit of kindness or generosity can actually go a long way. Once again we venture down the path of honest reviews of Toronto-based restaurants. If you're looking for a new chicken spot in Toronto, then you should head to Chicka's Chicken or PG Clucks. We break down how gooooood both these restaurants are and how you should try them out. Let us know what you think and we'll give you a shoutout on the pod! If you're curious what track is playing in the background, or at the end of the podcast, it's the George Clinton produced Maggot Brain by Funkadelic. Curious about this podcast and what we actually discuss? So are we! We have distilled it down to the time you're with us to be a 'theoretical theme that never happens.' This theme ranges from being a dad to restoring bikes.... and everything in between. In this episode, Alix, Steve, Ian and Sid discuss the music we are listening to, such as Panthurr, War on Drugs, and Emily Haines from Metric. We also talk about kids teaching you guitar and slow-clapping when you get the riff right. Also, a quick note about betting with friends who have musical knowledge. Even if you're over-confident going in, it's ok when you lose a bet of great bourbon. It's ok. It's totally ok. Back in the garage once again with Alix, Steve, Ian, and Sid where we talk about the connection between beef jerky and Big League Chew, the classic bubble gum with a pouch. We also discuss learning from YouTubers and how your kids can make your own avocado mask and hate it, or fix up your Yamaha V-Star Classic and remodel it into the BlackStar matte black edition. We welcome all the new dog owners around the globe during this pandemic with their new family members, aptly now named "COVID dogs." Our recommendation has now surpassed burgers, music, and movies as we venture to a new topic. If you're looking for comic books to get your kids into, then we suggest Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes and Gary Larson's The Far Side - both fundamental to a successful home. Once again back in the garage and we Alix, Steve, Ian, and Sid where we discuss the impacts of war and industry. We talked about witnessing the synapse fire in the brains of our offsprings when they realize how a company like Ford, BMW, or Saab retool its assembly line to help wartime efforts (and also profit). Similar to today with the war on COVID-19 and ventilator production. We dig deep into the engines in Jeeps and how it compares to others on the market, such as the turbo in Volvo's. In addition, we speak about the number one rule of putting a motor on your bicycle, which is to bring tools with you in case you break down. Finally, we discuss the evolution of Steve and how he's in the midst of breaking a cycle of collecting stuff and things that clutter up his home. He's done a solid job in 3-weeks to his garage -- also known as the podcast home. We're doing our first giveaway to all the dedicated fans out there of our newly created podcast. Alix, Steve, Ian, and special podcast guest Sid are in the garage once again discussing movies and requesting you avoid taking your young kids to see horror movies in the theatre (when COVID is over). Steve experienced this at 7 years old with Predator and he's still battling these emotions. Apart from burger joint recommendations, to pass the time during isolation or lockdown we have now expanded to offer our listeners movie suggestions. This week we suggest you binge Midnight Sky on Netflix and Amazon's The Expanse. If you're following the news, we start discussing the upcoming Presidential Inauguration of Joe Biden, the US Capitol riots and what Freedom of Speech means. Back in the garage once again for Friday Night Bikes with Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian and we continued the conversation of #dadhacks. We also welcomed our first podcast guest! Sid -- friend, music aficionado, and father of three -- who made an entrance of entrances around the 16:30 minute mark. Time passes when you're being a good dad and it's best to capture those solid moments by video. Another good tip for first-time dads is to keep random toys around the house as your kids grow up in age, specifically with soothers and making them disappear with the "Soother Garbage Man." Key to a healthy home but strategic planning is needed. This week, we discussed the rules of the road on bikes and how to be safe so cars don't collide with us while riding. We're back once again in the garage and Steve, aka the 'Landlord', did some major cleaning and made the space a home. This week, Alix, Paul, Steve, and Ian discuss tips for all the first-time dads with our top #dadhacks (shoutout to Brian and Will). It's an intense time in your life where you'll be exhausted and messy, but the end game is so rewarding. Hard to believe, but we also actually talked about bikes and how wiring diagrams mess with our minds. For our listeners who are into burger joints, Paul is generously offering a money-back guarantee to anyone who tries out Rudy and its famous burgers. We also are doing our first giveaway to all the dedicated fans out there of our newly created podcast.
