Send us a textHappy Hoco Szn ladies and gents!! IT's that week where we all go back to visit those great institutions that made us who we are today. Come tune in this week and join in our excitement for our upcoming shenanigans. Of course we spent some good time going through the relationship/dating topics. For instance, what would you do if you went through your significant other's phone, saw proof that they were shooting their shot elsewhere but everyone's serving them? We transitioned from there to discussing music culture when it comes to us listening to prominent yt songs. The cost of living in our nation is steadily rising, but most people aren't making more money, so where do we go from here? Tune in for way more turn up, conversation and hilarity to sooth your soul!Support the show

On this episode we talk about none other than Otto Fredrik Gideon Sundbäck, the inventor of the modern day zipper. He doesn't even have a “zip” sound in his name which I found REALLY disappointing. I didn't bring it up in the episode because it's not professional. You don't want to find fault with things when you're hosting a podcast. You just want to be a brainless idiot that spouts out meaningless drivel and panders for downloads.Support the Show.Go to hunchbunny.com to see all the hidden secrets!!!

Carol Stitzer, 80, lives life in the moment. All you have to do is listen to her and you immediately understand that she is positive, talented, energetic and happy. From early childhood education to development professional, fundraiser, artist and volunteer, Carol never lacks for the next big thing. She fine-tuned her skills at the Center for American Archeology and learned early on that planning travel for the Board of Directors offered her unique opportunities to tag along. This applied to her work at the Chicago History Museum,The Admiral at the Lake, and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Along the way, she developed her own unique opportunity: her vision for producing art. Never satisfied to be ordinary, Carol thinks outside the box and is an asset to all who come in contact with her. Still teaching family workshops at Lill Street Art Center, she makes time to volunteer as a participant in other's art and personal projects, fundraise for The Boulevard (a respite care facility for Chicago's ill and injured homeless) and spend quality time with her husband of 43 years.I live very much in the moment, always asking Why Not? - Carol StitzerEMAIL: carolstitzer@me.comWEBSITE: https://carolstitzer.wixsite.com/mysite

It also means we've got to talk about zippers and the troubles of Justin Metzler and Matthew Sharpe with them. We also chat through the importance of saddles through the lens of two different product reviews we have live on site.

Every so often we like to do a deep dive on a particular topic. In the past, we've meandered down the rabbit holes of tapes that you may see in the MYOG world as well as discussed seams that are crucial for any DIYer. Working with zippers is a must for any MYOGer. However, different projects will require different zippers. And different zippers will require different techniques. In this installment of our growing "Deep Dive" series, we'll talk about all things zippers. You'll leave this episode with a new technique to try, a new understanding of zippers, or at least just some inspiration to try and make something new. Zippers are everywhere – holding your backpack closed, keeping you snug in your sleeping bag and of course, on your pants! But how exactly does a zipper work? We asked Bryon Robinson of YKK (the world's largest zipper manufacturer!) to help us find the answer. Got a question that you'd like to sink your teeth into? Send it to us at BrainsOn.org/contact, and we'll help find a fasten-ating answer.
This week on It Was a Thing on TV we celebrate our 299th and 300th editions by revisiting two of our earliest topics! First, in our second 'revisited' episode, we go back to the first half of episode 3 and take a second look at the short-lived NBC perennial bomb Manimal. We get deeper into the show, the guests, and we have Chico present this time around. Then, we have reached another milestone, this time looking back at the show covered in the second half of episode 3. Unlike the first time, Chico is with us this time and thankfully can make the trip with us to Zippers?!?! Also, Greg has a major announcement which is truly a game changer. What is the major announcement? You have to listen to Episode 300 and find out! Follow us through all of our social media pages via our Linktree page at linktr.ee/itwasathingontv Timestamps 0:30 - Manimal Revisited 1:36:33 - Automan Revisited

The development of the zipper was oddly arduous, with many fastener versions tried out before the zipper we know today and have on our clothes, handbags, and luggage was finally figured out. Welcome to April 29, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate cool inventions and crazy trees. Zippers are something that we use almost daily but probably don't give much thought. This essential but overlooked part of our lives was invented in 1851 by Elias Howe, the same man who invented the sewing machine. But the idea didn't become popular until 1917 when Gideon Sundback reworked the design. At first, the zipper was used only for boots and purses, but then it caught on with the fashion industry and the rest is history. On National Zipper Day, celebrate by wearing something you haven't worn in a while. But no buttons, please. Zip-up clothes only. While many plants and animals adapt to their environment, one of the strangest cases is the Monkey Puzzle Tree from Chile. It's been around for over 200 million years, which speaks to its unique adaptation. Having grown up around active volcanoes, the Monkey Puzzle Tree developed fire-resistant bark. Its branches are very spiky and would cause monkeys to pause before climbing one, hence the name. Although individual trees can live up to 700 years, the species ended up on the endangered list due to logging and mining throughout the Andes Mountains. On National Arbor Day, take notice of the trees around you and all they have to offer. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day.
