Legacy Insights is a new podcast series by Providend that explores what it truly takes to plan a meaningful and lasting legacy, beyond just writing a will, or engaging with a corporate trustee. This series explores the critical collaboration between wealth advisers and legal professionals in safeguarding your family's future. Joined by lawyers Cynthia Tang of Tang Thomas and Soo Chye from OAKS Legal, each episode shares real-life stories showing how thoughtful planning can protect your family and make a meaningful difference, offering practical insights for your own legacy journey. In this episode, our CEO, Christopher and Soo Chye discuss a deeply personal but often overlooked aspect of legacy planning, how giving can shape family values and leave a legacy beyond wealth. Drawing from decades of experience working with families, Soo Chye reflects on why philanthropy is not reserved only for the wealthy, and how everyday acts of generosity can influence relationships and perspectives across generations. He also shares memorable stories from his practice, including how small, unexpected acts of kindness can carry more meaning than large financial gifts, and how families have been changed simply by being involved in giving together rather than treating it as a private transaction. In managing over S$1.7 billion of our clients' hard-earned assets, Providend believes legacy planning goes beyond wealth plans or legal documents. It starts with clarity over your non-negotiable ikigai goals, assets, family circumstances, and long-term intentions. If you have ever wondered what kind of values, purpose, and example you hope to leave behind for the next generation, you do not want to miss this episode.Music courtesy of ItsWatR.The host of this episode, Christopher Tan, is Chief Executive Officer of Providend, Singapore's first fee-only wealth advisory firm and author of the book “Money Wisdom: Simple Truths for Financial Wellness”.The full list of Providend's Money Wisdom podcast episodes from Season 4 can be found here.Did you know that our Providend's Money Wisdom podcast is now available in video format on YouTube? This powerful message from 2 Timothy 1:5-7 challenges us to examine what kind of spiritual legacy we are building for the next generation. We discover the beautiful story of Timothy, whose sincere faith was first evident in his grandmother Lois, then his mother Eunice, and finally took root in his own heart. What makes this account particularly compelling is that Timothy came from a broken home with an unbelieving father, yet his mother's genuine faith created an impact that rippled through generations. The text reveals four essential characteristics of generational faith: it must be genuine and sincere, personally embraced by each individual, able to flourish despite brokenness, and capable of leaving a lasting legacy. The word 'sincere' carries profound weight here, possibly coined by early Christians to describe faith without hypocrisy. This reminds us that our children can detect pretense from miles away. They don't need perfect parents; they need authentic believers who admit their struggles, ask for forgiveness, and demonstrate that faith is not a Sunday performance but a daily reality. The statistics are sobering: over one million young people walk away from Christianity annually in America, yet homes characterized by lived-out faith see dramatically different outcomes. This calls us to move beyond merely attending church to having meaningful spiritual conversations at dinner tables, engaging in family worship, and making our faith visible in everyday moments. The legacy we leave isn't measured in professional achievements or financial success, but in whether we pointed our children and grandchildren to Jesus.

What do you do when your "Promised Land" feels like a distant memory and your current reality feels like a slave pit? Moses found the answer in a bush that burned but was not consumed—and that same fire is available to help you break free today. Summary: In this episode, we begin the book of Exodus (chapters 1–6). We move from the family intimacy of Genesis to the national deliverance of Israel, uncovering profound patterns of how God remembers His covenants and empowers the "weak things of the earth." The Problem of Forgetting: We explore the danger of a generation that "knew not Joseph" and how societal amnesia leads to bondage. Courage in the Shadows: We highlight the "deliverers before the Deliverer"—Shiphrah, Puah, Jochebed, and Miriam—who chose to fear God more than Pharaoh. The Five Excuses: We break down Moses' deep feelings of inadequacy. From "Who am I?" to "I am slow of speech," we see how God compensates for our weaknesses with His presence. The Sacred Name: We dive into the revelation of "I AM," exploring the transition from knowing God as the "Almighty" to knowing Him as the eternal, self-existent Jehovah who is "at hand." Bricks Without Straw: We discuss the "Exodus Paradox"—why things often get harder right after we decide to follow God's will—and how to find the "spiritual straw" to keep going. Call-to-Action: Which of Moses' excuses do you find yourself using most often? How has the Lord answered those fears in your own life? Let's strengthen each other in the comments. Every church has a legacy that spans generations, but building a church for every generation requires intentionally passing down faith to those who come after us. The key starts with listening to God's voice by inclining our ears toward Him through regular time in Scripture, prayer, and mindful consumption of what feeds our minds. Statistics show that 72% of adult evangelicals were saved before age 18, making it critical that we reach young people before Satan does. Truth is hard to grasp alone, so every generation needs spiritual mentors who will teach them step by step how to follow Jesus. We must show and tell God's glory with the same excitement as childhood show-and-tell, being genuinely captivated by God ourselves since young people can easily distinguish authentic faith from religious pretense. Building this legacy requires removing barriers, prioritizing the next generation through investment of time and resources, and engaging across generational lines with love that transcends age gaps. -------- ' Pay attention, my people, to my instruction! Listen to the words I speak! I will sing a song that imparts wisdom; I will make insightful observations about the past. What we have heard and learned – that which our ancestors have told us – we will not hide from their descendants. We will tell the next generation about the Lord 's praiseworthy acts, about his strength and the amazing things he has done.' Psalms 78:1-4

Jesus calls his followers to reject hypocritical, rash judgment of others, emphasizing that self-examination must precede any attempt to correct another, as only God sees the heart. Please find out how we can achieve the standard the Lord places on judging others. Listen to "Proper Discrimination," by Pastor Jamie, and learn how we can remain judgement-free in our judgement of others.
Is there a danger of passing hasty, self-righteous judgment? How does judgement without mercy, humility, and awareness of one's own sinful pride and hypocrisy add up, for the believer? Did you know that operating in judgment without mercy can lead to spiritual blindness? Pastor Jamie warns against the cultural tendency to pass judgment based on incomplete information, especially in the wake of public scandals. He's urging the church to prioritize self-examination and mercy over the anxious public condemnation, we're prone to exhibit. Please, for the sake of the reputation of our Body of Believers (the Church) listen to "Passing Down Judgement," by Pastor Jamie. We must submit the area of our lives to God, and get this right.

I often hear people say that the reason they've started coming to our Sunday services is because they want their kids to "grow up in church.” While I appreciate the idea, I often want to say something along the lines of, "I also think our Sunday gatherings are great, but what our kids actually need is to grow up around parents who are completely surrendered to Jesus.” I may not know a lot, but I do know this: you can't pass on what you don't personally possess. In other words, if we want to have something to give to the next generation, we must first acquire it for ourselves. This week, we will unpack what the Scriptures say is the precious possession and how to pass it down to those who follow us! The heartbeat of Church on the Rock is to help people discover how they can LOVE God and LOVE one another, LIVE with passion, purpose and freedom, and LEAD others to this same experience in Jesus. This week on My Weekly Mixtape, I'm reflecting on the songs that shaped my love of music — as well as the person who made it all possible, my father, who we sadly lost to pancreatic cancer earlier this year. In this episode, I'm diving into 20 tracks that I'm eternally grateful & thankful for. Each one is tied to a moment, memory, lesson, or simply a staple of the famed “Friday Night Music Night” events I would enjoy with my parents growing up. The songs he shared with me growing up, taught me how to listen to music — and, now in hindsight, also taught me how music can truly bridge generations. I love you Dad.
