In Episode 46, Darian JaCorey and Cartie return after hiatus to discuss the most urgent issues being faced in the black community locally, domestically, and collectively. With the recent spike in covid cases recently in Texas, The Flats try to come to a conclusion on just how we expect the virus to disappear without using vaccines and playing into depopulation tactics. The conversation shifts to a situation that occurs all to often as the fellas pay their respects to activist and the beautiful spirit that was Toyin Salau who was a victim to sexual assault and abuse by one of our own. The talk gets heavy as the fellas discuss how imperative it is to protect our black women especially while the entire world is in dismay with black people being the focal point. The guys then discuss the discourse that took place between J.Cole and NoName over the weekend that had black men and women at odds over telling women how to lead and a smidge of patriarchy. The guys then reflect on the senseless deaths that took place over the weekend in Chicago and Charlotte and express their grievances we have within our own community and how to self reflect and galvanize while in the down time of our revolution. Topics like Bubba Wallace and his fight in NASCAR, the removal of statues of historical bigots and racists being taken down, Evangelic churches denouncing the false image of Jesus, and the officer released on bail following the killing of George Floyd caught out shopping carelessly are also discussed. In Episode 45, Darian and JaCorey are joined back by Shane Ferrier to discuss the state of black America following all of the protests and arrest from the George Floyd tragedy. All four officers have now been arrested in the case, along with all three racists who lynched Ahmaud Arbery, so the guys give their opinions and solutions on how we should react to the outcome of both cases. Being in the military, Shane shares some insight on just what we should expect to come from Trump planning to deploy the armed forces into the streets of America, and how we have no clue of what it will take to adapt. Police reform seems to be the topic of the moment and the team urges those eager for their dismantling to think of actual solutions for reform as well as offer some ideas for attainable, immediate change. Many people are waiting on the next step in liberation to be enacted, so the fellas speak of how we can become more proactive in our neighborhoods and community to galvanize us through legislation. Drew Brees had some disappointing comments in regards to protesting and the flag and the gang didn’t hold back on their distaste. Separation or fight to the end? The Flats have a honest conversation as to whether it would be more suitable to fight for change through the Constitution or take our resources and create our own land separate from America. Lastly, the guys discuss just what it takes to make voting, buying black, investing black, and being socially conscious cool again. Tune in to Episode 45!
