Roy's birthday celebration continues on this week's edition of The Hockey Show! We kick off the party by breaking down the epic golf course fight that involved former Panthers enforcer Nick Tarnasky before we get into our wins and fails of the week, including Sam Bennett's wedding, Gavin McKenna committing to Penn State, and an epic flex by Bo Byram. Then, Bill Lindsay of the Florida Panthers Radio Network and NHL Network joins the show to discuss the Panthers' epic offseason, how the second Stanley Cup championship has been different than the first, and the restraint he had to show when Bill Zito lost the GM of the Year Award to Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars. We do every aspect from research to recording, it is a DIY labour of love and craft. Missing Witches is entirely member-supported, and getting to know the members of our Coven has been the most fun, electrifying, unexpectedly radical part of the project. These days the Missing Witches Coven gathers in our private, online coven circle to offer each other collaborative courses in ritual, weaving, divination, and more; we organize writing groups and witchy book clubs; and we gather on the Full and New Moon from all over the world. Our coven includes solitary practitioners, community leaders, techno pagans, crones, baby witches, neuroqueers, and folks who hug trees and have just been looking for their people. Our coven is trans-inclusive, anti-racist, feminist, pro-science, anti-ableist, and full of love. If that sounds like your people, come find out more. In this thoughtful Independence Day episode, Matt Trump broadcasts live from Summerhaven, Arizona, sharing reflections on what it means to be an American in a time of fractured narratives. From the balcony of the rebuilt Mount Lemmon Lodge, Matt paints a vivid portrait of a small-town Fourth of July, complete with a mountain parade, Air National Guard flyover, and old-fashioned community spirit. He revisits the film 1776 and the sacrifices of the Declaration's signers, then questions whether we still share a common national story. Matt speaks candidly about generational shifts, the loss of civic unity, and his own journey from youthful progressivism to a more reflective patriotism. With readings of Red Skelton's “Pledge of Allegiance,” tributes to America's 250th anniversary, and memories of the Bicentennial that shaped his childhood, this episode blends nostalgia, hope, and gentle skepticism. Whether you're celebrating in person or online, Matt invites you to rediscover the meaning of freedom, and consider how we might write America's next chapter together.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast — we're still in a hotel (shoutout to The LINE Austin for really making this the SUITE life of Bubber), and no, the hardwood floors are still NOT done. We filmed this one first thing in the morning before heading out for the birthday/Fourth of July trip (if you didn't see on IG — we made our flight, but only managed to check 2 out of 3 bags in time hahaha). This week, we went to our first “kids' birthday party” (spoiler: we loved it). But apparently, we're going to get sick of them? We break down how we think kids' birthday parties work—or maybe how they SHOULD work. Plus, at this party, the most embarrassing moment in recent memory happened to me (you'll have to listen to find out what it was). And we celebrate a little “bragging parent” moment—because sometimes it's okay to celebrate the wins. We also talk about the power of perspective, pitch a new dating app idea, and share our favorite Fourth of July memories (cue Harrison saying “bro, it was like a movie”). We love you guys and hope you get to enjoy some time off this holiday weekend! ❤️ Timestamps: 00:00:00 Welcome back to Two Parents & A Podcast! 00:02:15 Birthday/Fourth of July trip to California 00:06:00 It's OK to do a “parent brag” sometimes (CELEBRATE!) 00:13:52 Alex's FAIL of the week 00:21:34 Our thoughts on kids' birthday parties 00:29:00 The power of perspective 00:32:30 A new idea for a dating app 00:36:24 Bick of the Week: Saving contacts in your phone 00:39:40 Our favorite Fourth of July memories 00:43:08 LOVE YOU GUYS! #twoparentsandapod ---------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you to our sponsors this week: Dipsea - Right now, you can get a 30-day free trial PLUS 25% off your annual subscription when you go to https://www.DipseaStories.com/TWOPARENTS Cleveland Kitchen - Want to make gut health easy and delicious? Episode Summary: This week on Purple Political Breakdown, we're diving into the shocking political violence that rocked Minnesota, where a gunman dressed as a police officer targeted Democratic lawmakers in their homes. We'll unpack the conspiracy theories, the 70-name hit list, and what this means for political discourse in America. Plus, we're covering the massive "No Kings" protests that brought millions to the streets on Trump's birthday - the same day he threw himself a $45 million military parade. From tear gas in LA to tanks on Pennsylvania Avenue, we're breaking down what happened when democracy and authoritarianism collided in real-time. In This Episode: Nuanced News Breakdown: The Minnesota shooting: What really happened when Vance Luther Boelter targeted lawmakers The "No Kings" protests: 5 million Americans, 2,100 rallies, and one very expensive parade Trump's financial disclosures: $57.7 million in crypto, Trump Bibles, and a $2.8 million watch business Immigration policy whiplash: Why the administration just hit pause on deportation raids International crisis: Israel's "Operation Rising Lion" and the new nuclear arms race Research on a Dime: We tackle the big question everyone's asking but few understand: Is Trump actually a fascist? We break down what historians, generals, and political scientists really think - and why some experts say the answer matters less than you think. Deep Dive Trend: Trump Mobile is here! We explore the latest Trump family venture - a $499 gold phone and "The 47 Plan" cellular service. Because nothing says "drain the swamp" like launching businesses from the Oval Office. Key Topics Covered: Political violence and the rhetoric that fuels it The economics of mass deportation (spoiler: it's not great) What fascism actually means vs. how we use the term The $2.7 trillion global military spending surge Why Sweden is considering building nukes Notable Quotes: "Being great is hard. Being honest is not." - Judge sentencing Illinois Speaker Michael Madigan "Not principled enough to be a fascist" - Cornell historian on Trump "How can 10 million people evacuate Tehran?" - The question no one can answer Why Listen: In a world where a pastor can become an assassin, where military parades compete with mass protests, and where cryptocurrency millions mix with Bible sales, you need analysis that cuts through the chaos. We're not here to tell you what to think - we're here to help you understand what's actually happening. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell and attorney Eric Bland unpack the continued fallout from the Alex Murdaugh trial, and the four new felony charges for former Clerk of Court, Becky Hill. They dissect the charges against Hill, clarifying that she faces misconduct, obstruction and perjury allegations... but not for jury tampering, despite Team Murdaugh's narrative. The hosts reveal how Hill seemed to embrace the attention, and how 'Backstage' Becky's actions, like charging high fees and allegedly showing sealed photos of victims' bodies to media at a party, raised all sorts of alarms. Did the Murdaugh defense team see Hill as an "easy target" to base an appeal on and what was the role of attorney Joe McCulloch, present throughout the trial for... a screenplay? And what was the complicity of media members who viewed sealed evidence... Will there be consequences? We hope so. Despite these issues, we strongly believe Alex Murdaugh received a fair trial, and question the credibility of anyone alleging that jury tampering occurred. Plus, we address the P. Diddy federal sex trafficking trial and why transparency matters. ☕ Cups Up! ⚖️ Episode References“Murdaugh clerk of court Becky Hill facing perjury, misconduct charges” - CourtTV, May 14, 2025

Nobel Prize-winning dramatist Harold Pinter's London premiere of his debut, ‘The Birthday Play' was detested by most critics - on 19th May, 1958. Set in a mundane seaside boarding house, the play initially lures audiences in with a naturalistic facade, before plunging them into a perplexing, uncomfortable narrative. Critics lambasted the production for its nonsensical dialogue and lack of clarity; lines of attack which were not eased by Pinter's lifelong refusal to offer explanations. The sole exception was a positive review from The Sunday Times's Harold Hobson - but this was printed after the show had already been pulled. In this episode, The Retrospectors explain how Pinter's play nonetheless left a lasting impact on British theatre; reveal who ‘Betrayal' was REALLY about; and attempt to quantify the value of the Pinteresque pause...
