Cyhi The PrynceFeatured Guest Bio:Telling stories of the streets through vivid rhymes and tricky metaphors, Cyhi the Prynce is a rapper signed to Kanye West's label G.O.O.D. Music. Born Cydel Young in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Cyhi was inspired to take his name when he learned he was born the same day, same year, and had the same middle name as Prince Harry. After releasing a handful of mixtapes, he was discovered by Kanye West in 2010. That same year he signed with West's G.O.O.D. Music imprint, appeared on West's album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and released the mixtape Royal Flush. Royal Flush II arrived in 2011, while 2012 saw him land on the G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer. In 2013, he earned numerous co-writing credits on West's album Yeezus then, in 2014, G.O.O.D. Music released Black Hystori Project, his conceptual mixtape which honored African-American history with tracks like "Huey," "Coretta," and "Basquiat." A second volume, subtitled N.A.A.C.P., followed in 2015. The Stoned Mountain Playlist, a brief collaboration with publicist/producer Jonathan Hay, appeared in 2016. Cyhi's long-delayed debut studio album, No Dope on Sundays, finally arrived in November of 2017, featuring appearances by West, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Estelle, and many others.Nearly five years after the release of his debut studio album, CyHi returns with his new project EGOT the EP.The four-track EP contains the previously released single “Tears” featuring Jacquees, as well as new songs featuring Baby Rose (“Help Me God”) and Big Bank Black (“Slide”). Additionally, the tape features production from Edsclusive, Bongo ByTheWay, and Go Grizzly. EGOT the EP is CyHi's first offering since 2017, when he dropped his full-length debut No Dope on Sundays. The 37-year-old rapper teased the project on Instagram earlier this month, thanking his fans for their patience and announcing his sophomore LP, The Story of EGOT.“I want to thank all my fans & supporters for their patience,” he wrote. “I've endured a lot throughout my life and career, and due to the on-going encouragement I've received from everyone, I've decided to release my sophomore album ‘The Story Of EGOT' this summer. For the sequel, he enlists his most features of both artists and producers yet with guest appearances by Ransom, Papoose, The Game, Westside Gunn, Styles P, Jadakiss, Big K.R.I.T., Snoop Dogg, Jay Electronica, Big Sean, Wale, Joey Badass, Conway The Machine, Ghostface Killah, Cyhi The Prynce, Lloyd Banks and Mozzy. The star-studded cast collaborates with a who's who of legendary producers, including DJ Premier, Jake One, Mr. Porter, Hi-Tek, 9th Wonder, Harry Fraud, The Alchemist, Bink!, Boi-1da, Statik Selektah and Hit-Boy. Prior to CHOMP 2, Russ fed fans an appetizer in the new black-and-white visual, titled “Utah Freestyle.” “Stay away from people who put money over everything,” Russ responds to a fan on Twitter who said they love the new video. Watch the new video below. Announcing the new album's arrival Tuesday morning (Dec. 8), he gave fans who purchased merch the opportunity to hear the new album before everyone else last week. The early listens were met with rave reviews. Peter Rosenberg tweets: “I'm very impressed with the A&R job Russ did on this project man… Westside Gunn floating on a 9th Wonder beat is something I wish I had thought of and pulled off… incredible.” Upon the album's release, Russ tweets to fans: “IT'S OUT!!!! I just wanna say I'm extremely grateful for everyone who decided to be apart of this project. It was a dream of mine to pull this off and I did…independently…just texting and DM'ing shooting shots on a whim and thankfully everyone was down and killed it. CHOMP 2” CHOMP 2 is the first full-length release since Russ announced his departure from Columbia-Sony last year and rejoin the independent landscape. Since July, returning to an old formula of success, Russ has released new music on a weekly basis. In October, Russ and Kehlani teased a possible joint album in the works. Are you prepared for everything it takes to build a successful career? This week I'm talking to one of my best friends (and my management client) Kain, about his journey as an independent hip hop artist. Kain has shared the stage with artists including Cyhi The Prynce, Big Sean and BIG KRIT... but it wasn't always sunshine and roses. On this episode we welcome producer duo Nate & Charity to the show. This talented up and coming production team dropped some gems on us that all up and coming producers could benefit from. They discuss:Being from different parts of Texas and eventually linking up after being in the same beat battlesWhat there work flow is like as a production teamWhat it’s like being a duo where each producer producers in a different DAW (Machine vs. Ableton)Moving from Texas to Atlanta to pursue better opportunitiesWorking with CyHi The Prynce on the critically acclaimed “No Dope on Sundays” Album and how they landed their placement on thereCharity specifically discusses navigating in the industry as a female producerWhat’s next for Nate & Charity?Follow them:@nate_coop@charityevaughnAlso discussed this episode:Streaming pay! After rapper Nipsey Hustle shared his streaming income numbers, the entire industry has been buzzing. Should you only put your music on Tidal since they pay the most? Should listeners subscribe to Tidal as he said? WLPWR and Brian Onrea sort this out. Also sorted out is the concept of producer payment rights and how much you should charge for your beats. This is in respose to Jermaine Dupri’s recent Breakfast Club interview where he talked about a producer selling a beat for $200 that became a huge hit. What’s the issue here? It gets broken all the way down! It's 2BELTZ Uncut, featuring the dirtiest, raunchiest version of the podcast that we've ever come up with. Okay, not really, but it's a thought right? Episode 22 features us continuing with the next chapter in the storied Meek Mill/Drake rivalry, as well as answering the question: What does Meek Mill have to do to recover from this? We give a slew of suggestions. CyHi The Prynce's diss "Elephant In The Room" towards GOOD Music gets a conversation piece as well as the return of BET Uncut, including us taking a look at two of the series' most notable videos (yes, that includes Nelly's Tip Drill). Also, #IfYouStillUseRapsody returns -- just for old times sake. Special RIP to "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, who passed away earlier this month.
