Good news emanates from South Korea, where developer Shift Up announced that PS5-exclusive release Stellar Blade has surpassed a million copies sold. To the rational thinking person, this is obviously a great accomplishment for a niche and provocative release on a single platform, and yet there are know-nothings debating its success. Thus, we correct the incorrect while also talking about Stellar Blade's future, including DLC, a PC port, and -- ultimately! -- a sequel. Other news this week includes details for Concord's upcoming closed and open betas, the surprising return of Capcom zombie-killing classic Dead Rising, fresh PSone-era collections for the likes of Fear Effect and Fighting Force, percolating rumors about PlayStation 3 emulation finally coming to PS4 and PS5, and much more. As always, we wrap things up with inquiries from you, the audience. What do we think about a Guerrilla producer's desire to get Aloy in Smash Bros? Is poor media literacy stopping gaming from reaching its true potential? Which random PlayStation 2 games would we like to see ported to modern hardware? Join us on a journey of discovery with Lieutenant Colonel Matt Lohmeier, a former Space Force member, as we traverse the intricate pathways from the inception of the United States Air Force Academy to the birth of the Space Force. Our esteemed guest shares his dynamic switch from fighter pilot to a key player in the transformation of the Air Force Space Command, illuminating the specific roles and exceptional responsibilities that distinguish the Space Force from its predecessors. We examine the structural fabric of military leadership in space and consider the implications of having a dedicated military branch to safeguard our extraterrestrial frontiers. The discourse takes a sharp turn as Colonel Lohmeier reveals his experiences with political bias and the stifling of diverse viewpoints within the military culture. As he recounts his perspective on the prevailing political ideologies during the Trump administration and the burgeoning of 'woke', we confront the precarious balance between military discipline and the liberty to scrutinize political narratives. We uncover the subtle infiltration of political correctness within the ranks, raising pivotal questions about the implications for freedom of thought among service members.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

We're back with another stellar euro platformer, this time in the form of Wolfchild, developed by Core Design. Your father Kal Morrow, expert in genetic research and creation of human-animal hybrids, has been kidnapped and the rest of your family was brutally murdered by the terrorist organization CHIMERA. You take control of his surviving son Saul to exact revenge against CHIMERA and their leader Karl Draxx. Core Design is best known for their work on the first few Tomb Raider games, as well as other games like Rick Dangerous, Jaguar XJ220 and the Fighting Force series. Simon Phipps, one of the early members of core and a lead graphic designer on Wolfchild published a great article on his website which is where we gathered a lot of the information for this episode. He talks about the origin of the game, the inspiration for its design (Strider, Island of Dr. Moreau, etc) and some notes about animation and the various releases. Music this time around is handled by Martin Iveson on the original Amiga, Atari ST and later reimagined Mega CD version, with the Genesis, Game Gear and Master System covered by Pixelated Audio veteran Matt Furniss, and down porting duties from the Mega CD to SNES by Steve Collett. There's more good music than you can shake a stick at across the 7 different platforms and we hope you enjoy it! Taking vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, they were so well trained that in battle they were forbidden from retreating unless they were outnumbered three to one and yet so devout that they were considered a monastic order. For almost two centuries they were venerated as devout warriors, gathered from across Europe, who would fight on behalf of God and defend the Holy Land. What could possibly go wrong?

Punaro (USMC ret.), Chief Executive Officer of the Punaro Group, to discuss his new book, The Ever-Shrinking Fighting Force, which covers the history of U.S. defense spending and why the number of warfighters is declining despite budget increases. Mike and Maj. Gen. Punaro start off by analyzing the defense budget process and lay out three reasons why the U.S. military is not getting “enough bang for its buck,” to include the acquisition process, the cost of an all-volunteer force, and a massive overhead. Drawing from his experience working in Congress, Maj. Gen. Punaro dives deeper into the politics of defense spending and its impact on the Indo-Pacific region. Lastly, the two touch on the war in Ukraine and constraints on U.S. capacity to operate on multiple fronts.

Cavas and Chris Servello…a weekly podcast looking at naval and maritime events and issues of the day – in the US, across the seas and around the world. This Week…the world is watching as Russia continues its military buildup and tough talk over Ukraine. Notwithstanding the focus on diplomatic efforts to avoid conflict, what naval and maritime power can Russia mobilize for a Black Sea war? We'll talk with an experienced observer of Russian military and diplomatic activities, Nicholas J. Myers. In this Week's Squawk Chris Servello discusses the false choice of presence vs. readiness. The US defense budget is at its largest in decades, yet the Air Force's combat-coded aircraft inventory, the Navy's battle-force ship fleet, and the Army's number of active-duty soldiers have all shrunk. Is this trend reversible? The Pentagon's creeping bureaucracy is plagued by slow-moving acquisition processes, the rise of numerous powerful defense agencies, and climbing overhead costs. Feasible improvements exist, but as Maj. Gen. Arnold L. Punaro (ret.) warns in his latest book, “The Ever-Shrinking Fighting Force” (Punaro Press, 2021), “Bad processes beat good people all the time.” Join AEI's Mackenzie Eaglen as she hosts Maj. Gen. Yet, to those in the know, like retired Marine Major General Arnold Punaro, a former Staff Director of the Senate Armed Services Committee, there is compelling need for improvement in its support elements. From the glacial pace of acquisitions to the spiraling growth of the defense agencies to the fully-burdened costs of the All-Volunteer Force, the Department of Defense's non-warfighting elements are not getting enough bang for the buck. Every recent Secretary of Defense has pushed business-minded reforms as a high priority, citing the need to convert overhead to warfighting capacity. Despite substantial increases in defense spending over the last decades, the number of warfighters is still declining. The Ever-Shrinking Fighting Force lays out, in clear and compelling detail, the major factors that contribute to this adverse trend that has outlasted efforts to reverse it by strong Defense Secretaries and even Presidents. Drawing on his half-century of experience in national security, Gen. Punaro offers a no-nonsense look at the inefficiencies that have plagued the Pentagon's creeping bureaucracy for decades. With calls for defense reform emanating from both the executive and legislative branches, this timely book provides a road map for thoughtful and balanced improvements. On this edition of On DoD, Jared Serbu speaks with Maj. Gen. (ret.) Arnold Punaro, who's just released a new book, The Ever-Shrinking Fighting Force. Punaro, a former staff director of the Senate Armed Services Committee who's advised Defense secretaries of both parties on reform issues, argues there are three main categories of cost growth that have steadily decreased the military's tooth-to-tail ratio over the last several decades, and offers several ideas for how to begin to move the balance in the other direction.

It’s time to pull another email out of the ol’ email bag. I get energy hearing excuses and tearing them to shreds... As always, my comments will follow. “Honestly, I am a waiter... and I don't mean that I serve tables, but that I'm waiting for that "right" feeling. I have tons of skills, but most of my energy is split between my daily employment which takes advantage of those skills and spending time with my family. I have a dream to one day be working for myself on projects I'm passionate about that can help other people, but when I start to plan out the process, I'm overwhelmed or procrastinate. I've owned tons of domains. I have the technical expertise to pull off a good business online... Yet, I'm still living pay to pay working for companies that don't really mentor and guide me to that next level.” ~David P --I was recently reading a book about the U.S Navy Seal team. If somehow you don’t know what they are, they are an elite military unit and they have one of the most grueling, mind and body shredding training there is. Most of the people that try out don’t make it past the initial training. The book is written by one of these elite Navy Seals. One of the things he talked about was the difference between regular people and people who pass the Seal training and go on to become one of this elite fighting force. He said that most people are run by their feelings. They have a feeling, that feeling dictates their behavior and their behaviors are what build their identity. So, David, in your case you are waiting for a feeling to push you to action, so you can take the actions (behavior) needed to become a successful freedom business owner. The Seal said that successful people do it just the opposite. He said the guys that successfully finish the toughest, grueling Seal training ACT like a Navy Seal from the beginning. They take on the identity of a Seal FIRST. They know that ALL the Navy Seals have gone through and FINISHED the exact training they are about to go through, so they decide they are going to finish it before they start, no matter what. They take on the identity FIRST. They decide to be U.S. Navy Seals before they go through the training that is designed to weed out the humans not fit to be Seals. That identity is what decides their behaviors. When they don’t want to or think they can’t do something, the Navy Seal identity they took on says they will. A Navy Seal passes the training no matter what, so they take the actions that lead them to feel like a Seal. This is the mindset you need to take David. Right now you are waiting for this: Feelings>Behavior>Identity You need to choose a success mindset, which is this: Identity>Behavior>Feelings A successful freedom business builder does what it takes to succeed. First step is get the training you need here: http://www.JoinFreedomClub.com The next step is to start working on your mindset, which is the first course inside the Freedom Club. The only part of the success mindset you need to start is the “get the training and start the first course”, I’ll handle the rest. It’s designed to be done in as little as 30 minutes a day. When you have more time, do a bit more. When I took on the mindset of a successful freedom business builder I started finding a ton of time to work on my business. It’s all about priorities. If you choose the identity of a freedom business owner, that is what will create your behaviors. Then, you can feel the feeling you get when you make your first dollar online. Then how will you feel the feeling you get when you replace your current J.O.B income and can choose to work at home. How will you feel when you can spend as much quality time with your family as you choose because of being a successful freedom business owner? Those are the type of feeling you get to feel when you choose your identity first.

Ewoks. Just saying the name evokes myriad emotions in Star Wars fans. For some, the bear-like creatures that first appeared in 1983's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi are part of the franchise's rich tapestry. Others consider the Ewoks a blight and would prefer they not exist at all. (Some fan edits of Return of the Jedi excise the Ewoks entirely, for crying out loud.) They're the most controversial inhabitants of the Star Wars universe this side of Jar Jar Binks.

¡Hola gamelxeros!
