“Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.” – Albert Einstein   I felt compelled to chat on this topic today- lots going on in life, so let's discuss! Entitlement is a funny thing… in fact it's an imaginary one, because when it comes down to it, we are not entitled to a damn thing at the end of the day. Let's be clear, I am not talking human rights or social issues in general, I am talking about day to day, family, friend, work, relationships- life stuff. Society has set out a list of ideals for us that “we should do” or “should expect”, but we are here to gracefully disrupt those sold realities and dial back into our own awareness of what we do and do not need. Maybe you need up your protection of your own energy OR perhaps this is reminder not to unnecessary unload or expect something that is not entitled to you. Life ebbs and flows, we have all been on both sides of the coin, the magic happens in the shift back to center. Scripture For Today:Luke 9:28About eight days after Jesus said this, He took Peter, John and James with Him and went up onto a mountain to pray.”What Peter Had to Say About Prayer pt 1We have been studying what the Apostle James had to say about prayer. Now, we are going to shift over to anther disciple, Peter, to see what he has to say about prayer. Amen! Let's look at 1 Peter 3:7: “Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers are not hindered.” Of course, Peter is talking here about a husband and wife who are both saved because he said, “being HEIRS together of the grace of life.” Amen! This verse applies to married couples who are both born again. This verse is telling us that a husband or wife can HINDER their own prayer life! So, I guess you could say, what Peter is trying to get across to us is “Don't Hinder Your Own Prayers!”  Amen! I believe we all know that a saved husband and wife can either help or hinder one another spiritually. They can pull together or they can pull apart. So Peter, in this scripture, gives both, husband and wives some clear instructions. In verse 3, he starts off saying, “Likewise, you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any is not obeying the Word (talking about the Word of God), they also may, without the Word, be won by the conversation of the wives.” The word “conversation” here in this verse means their “manner of life or conduct.” Peter suggests that one's Godly conduct or behavior is a way of winning folks to the Lord without necessarily preaching at them all of the time. Amen! I can attest to this fact in my own life. My wife was born again almost four years before I was. She kept after me to go to church with her, etc. But I usually did not go. I would drive her and the kids to church, drop them off and go to the gym. On a rare occasion, like most heathens, I would attend church at Christmas or Easter. But that was about it. But she continued to pray for me. She was always there for me. Even though I was raised as a Lutheran by loving grandparents, I was under the false impression that I was already born again. The devil had me trapped in a lie and I was deceived. In fact, if you would've looked up the word “heathen” in the dictionary back then, it probably would've had my picture next to the word. That's how lost I was and did not even know it. But, my wife kept praying. Despite all I could do or act or say to the contrary – she kept on praying! Thank God for a loving wife that is born again and saved.  Four years later, I was on the verge of taking my own life when I received the Lord as my Savior – and my entire perspective on EVERYTHING changed!  In an instant – I realized I had been deceived about my salvation. But that night, January 25th 1992 at 1135pm ET in a little empty apartment in Columbus, GA – I was born again – FOR SURE!  Amen! You've probably heard my testimony before so I will not take the time to go through it here – but the first person I wanted to share this with first was my wife! Amen! She had been praying for me all those years – and the Lord heard her prayers. Amen! Glory to God!  I want to pray for YOU right now as well. Let's Pray! IntroductionToday, we get the privilege of telling the story of John 9. The story is one of my absolute favorites. It has conflict, politics, miracles, threats, sarcasm, deceit and irony as thick as molasses. Today is one of those days when the most important job I have is to not get in the way of the story. So that's the goal. Let's begin by re-reading from last week:That's basically where we stopped last week. We were given this insight into God's sovereign purposes for suffering. We discovered that nothing ever happens to us, but rather it happens for us. Why was this man born blind?Was it his sin or his parents sin? Neither. Rather, he is a miracle waiting to happen. Every artist needs a canvas. The blind man was God's canvas for his wondrous works.Now what's the work? And knowing the story we immediately think, “Well, he's going to heal him.” Yes. But that's secondary. The blindness Jesus is concerned about isn't physical. Yes, here's here to bring light to the eyes but mainly he cares about bringing light to the soul. Jesus is going to heal his blindness. This healing is a SYMBOLICALLY LOADED miracle.Jesus says, I am the light of the world and there is work to do while I am still here on earth. In other words, Jesus is acknowledging what is true for all of us. The only gospel ministry we will ever do is in this life only. After this life is over, ministry is over. You only have the day to work - all the opportunities we have to work for God are right now.So Jesus sees this man not as occasion for a theological discussion but as a person needing human kindness and compassion. So Jesus says, I need to get to work.As the text unfolds, we are going to discover that this blind man is a metaphor for all of us. Why? Because in a sense, we are all born blind. We all lack the sense organ to perceive spiritual reality and unable to cure it. Have you ever spoken with a person who was born blind and tried to understand their world. All you have to do to understand their world is close your eyes. But how can they understand your world? Very quickly you realize that without the sense of sight, entire domains of reality are inaccessible to them no matter how many words and analogies you use. If the blind person asks you, “What is red like?” "Is red like the sound of a rooster? Does red feel like sandpaper?" Red isn't like anything. Red is like red. Blue is like blue. Unless you can see, you will never know what it is. Sight isn't an enhancement of your other senses. It opens up a whole dimension of reality that is inaccessible to your other senses.In that exact same way, we are all born spiritually blind. Spiritually speaking, there's not a one of us in the room who is born with spiritual eyes. And until that is fixed, spiritual realities are inaccessible to us. Here's an example of what I mean.It's a common testimony for people to say, “I grew up in a church that didn't teach the gospel.” And for many this is probably true, but I'm always a little slow to just accept their experience at face value. I'm certain that's how it felt. But that's like a formerly blind man complaining, "I grew up in a house where my parents literally never turned on the light." Why did they never turn the lights on for me? Light is so amazing.And this man is born doubly blind. He is physically blind but he too is spiritually blind. When the text says, that Jesus passed by and looked at the man born blind, which blindness do you think he was concerned about? The blindness we care about helps us see the blindness that Jesus cares about.So right out of the gate, we are given indicators that this entire chapter is going to be rich in symbolism.It becomes for us a powerful metaphor for salvation. Jesus' is physically and spiritually the light of the world.Now lots of commentary goes into the method of healing here. What's up with the spit? This isn't the only time. In Mark 7:33, Jesus healed a deaf man by spitting on his finger and sticking it in his ear. In Mark 8:23 he spits straight into a blind man's eyes. What's up with that.Now here's the answer: who knows?Some people cite that Rabbis thought there was healing properties in the saliva of a firstborn male childThe pagan cultures definitely associated spittle with magical properties and for that reason other Rabbis condemned it. Was Jesus being intentionally controversial?Calvin sees this as making the miracle more dramatic kind of like Elijah pouring extra water on the altar.The most obvious thing about this miracle is rarely pointed out. Why the mud pack? The reason the text itself suggests is so that Jesus can conceal his identity from the man he is about to heal. If he healed him on the spot and suddenly he sees, well then now the man knows the face of Jesus. But Jesus has reasons for wanting to be unknown. The story really brings this out in the next section:Now, apparently this healing wasn't a public spectacle with a lot of fan-fare. But very quickly the word gets out and there's all this commotion. Like anything, everyone's got their own opinion to explain it.For some, identifying him was obvious. He was a fixture at the temple. He probably had a nickname, "Billy the Blind Begger." He had his station. Nobody can fake blindness for 40 years. And some were totally confident. I know that's him.There were others who thought it was him but weren't totally sure. He's recognizable but not. And that makes sense for two reasons.First, one of the main things you notice about a person is their eyes. So if his eyes were fundamentally changed, there would be a bit of uncertainty associated with that. I'm not used to looking into his eyes and seeing him look back and see me.But secondly, you just can't believe it. There must be another explanation.This is where the skeptics come parachuting in to save the day. A good skeptic just love to poke holes in good news. They love to be the fact checkers. They hate the feeling of being duped so they just hold back before they buy in.And it so humorous. Everyone is talking back and forth right over top of his head. **One group yells out, “He really was healed.** I knew him. He lived right next door to me. I'm telling you, this is legit.” The skeptic retorts, “Whatever. I'm so sure. You can't heal blindness. The guy had patches of skin for eyeballs. Maybe he has a twin.” I know it was him. I saw Jesus do it. No you didn't. Yes I did. No, it was someone who just looked like him. And he stands up in the middle of the shouting match and says, guys, “I'm the man.”Look at me. Come test my sight. Ask me a question only I could know. I am the man.Now four times in the text he's going to be asked the same question. How? It's understandable question. This kind of thing just does not happen. A claim that large better come with an explanation. Healed from blindness, huh? How in the world, pray tell, did that happen?There was just absolute astonishment. Complete and utter astonishment. Take this miracle at face value. Consider what is going on at the atomic level to make a blind man see? This is a supernatural act of creation. You begin with something deformed, unmade, undeveloped, withered, broken and you replace it with some new.Which means, there are atoms spinning into existence out of nothing.Those atoms are obediently assembling into molecules defying all the laws of physics.- Those molecules are folding into proteins which assemble to make nerves and rods and cones and retinas.And the point is quite simple.There's no natural explanation for it.- There's no medical or psychological explanation for it.This wasn't an imagined illness where the warm presence of Jesus made him feel better.There's no medicine. - It's not repeatable, nor is there's a formula to which you could refer to explain the miracle.It's a miracle performed by a word of the maker of all things. Just as God took earth and formed it into Adam, God takes dust and makes new eyes.And of course nobody has ever seen or heard of a miracle like this. So it's totally and completely normal to be a bit skeptical. What do you mean you used to be blind? If you were once blind, HOW is it you now see? HOW?And all through the text the man who was formerly blind answers the how with the who.How are you healed? He says, that's the wrong question. You'll never understand the how till you understand the who. You need the who to the how. If you force me to answer “how I see” without letting me explain “who made me see” then "you will never see."So they say, “Fine, then where is this Jesus?" And he helpfully responds, "How should I know! Remember the whole part about me being blind? I don't even know what he looks like. How could I possibly identify him? This is all part of the setup.”Much like many of us, this man was a recipient of the work of God but had not seen God. He knew he must be some sort of divine prophet or messenger of God because of what he was able to do for him. But he had never seen him. Faith was operating without sight.Counterfeited?So there's all this questioning…how,how,how. And the onlookers say, if you can't give us an answer we understand then the only possibility is that this is a case of mistaken identity. It must trick. He's got a double. He's got a twin. They just can't figure it out.It's just too amazing and there's too much of a commotion to not investigate it. So they haul the guy into the courts of the authorities.[sabbath - uh oh]Now as we read the gospels it's almost as if Jesus is purposely choosing the Sabbath as his favorite day to perform miracles. There are 7 miracles in the gospels that we are explicitly told were performed on the sabbath. And every time it just infuriates the religious establishment and this is no exception. The frowning eyebrows create crevices so deep you could pinch the head of a cue tip off.These guys are obviously not happy. Let me ask you, “What kind of person does not rejoice when a blind man is healed.” Answer: a jerk. They love their rules more than the rule giver.So they haul him in and the religious leader say, "We know this is not possible. This is an outrageous claim. What do you say happened?" And the personal testimony of this man just kind of sits there. And I love that. It just stands on its own. What do you do with that? He finishes his story and there is this long pregnant pause. Mmmm. That's not what we were hoping. But what can you say?The thing about a testimony is you can't deny it. *If I say to my neighbor, “Man, I really love Jesus Christ.* He has totally and completely changed my life.” He can't then say, “No he hasn't.” “Yes, I can. It's my story.”And so he's saying, guys this happened to me. I'm telling you. He's simply establishing the facts. Now the testimony must have been powerful and convincing because there is instantly a division between them. Some are convinced by it and others are not.Now listen to the reasoning. It is sound both directions:Sinners can't perform miracles. He sinned. Therefore he couldn't have performed the miracle. It must be counterfeit.Others try to reason the opposite direction. No, I agree, miracles can't be performed by sinners. The miracle is obvious. He must not be a sinner.The logic is good either way. Either you refute the claim that he's a sinner or you refute the claim that there has been a miracle. One thing is certain and they all agree: Both can't be true.It's like saying,Dead people don't drink water. That guys dead so no matter what it looks like, he can't be drinking water.Dead people don't drink water. That guys drinking water. He must not be dead.So, since they can't agree, they turn to him. What do you say about him? Now what they mean by asking him this questions is this, "Do you think he's a sinner or not." But all this guy cares about is testifying to what happened to him. He says, “He's a prophet.” In other words, the miracle is real which means he must be from God. I know that.That answer is not acceptable. We very quickly come to realize, this is not a neutral investigation. This is not an attempt to discover the truth. It's an attempt to erase the truth. The Pharisees are looking around, “Anybody have a flashy pens where we can all put on our sunglasses and erase people's memory?” There's an outcome that must be achieved. We must find an alternate explanation for what we are witnessing. We must show that the miracle is fake. Because if the miracle is not fake there is only one conclusion:This man Jesus is not a sinner.He really did heal this man.Which means He really is of God.He really is the light of the world.And everything he claimed is true.This non-neutral posture is exactly how many people today approach Jesus Christ. Not to conduct an honest investigation of his claims. No, they can't let it be true because they love darkness because their deeds are evil.That's exactly what's going on here. So they determine to prove that this is a case of mistaken identity. So first, they call in JUST the parents privately. The problem the Jews are bumping up against (and it's only getting worse) is that the evidence is getting stronger and stronger. There's just no getting around it. The miracle is of a quality that it is absolutely irrefutable. It's non-counterfeitable.Here's what's meant by that. It's difficult to counterfeit a dollar bill. But it's doable. People do it. People get away with it. They trick people with the counterfeit. Miracles can be of that sort of quality.I could claim to have a really bad back. I lean over and hobble and then my cousin who claims to be Messiah could come over and say, “Be healed of your bad back.” And I could stand up and yell and dance and scream. And it depending on how good of an actor I was, it could be pretty convincing. But it lacks the one necessary component of being truly non-counterfeitable. What is it? You can't confirm that the ailment really existed. The actually infirmity was invisible to the onlookers.But not so here. There's no way this miracle can be faked. This man had been blind his entire life. The fact that he was blind, was irrefutable. Thousands and thousands could testify. The fact that he could see was irrefutable. All you have to do is run a simple eye test. So the only remaining option is mistaken identity. It must be a trick. The parents are in on it. Somehow the seeing twin got swapped in. It's a hail mary but it's their only option.So they begin to apply pressure. They begin to intimidate and bully and introduce threats. We are told that nobody was allowed to confess Jesus as Messiah. If they did, the would be put out of the synagogue, literally un-synagoged. aposynogogais. In Jewish culture, everything revolved around the synagogue, so to be put out would be to lose your career, your social standing, your opportunity to interact with your friends. It's a big deal.And his parents seem to be terror stricken by this and step back. He's been bar mitzphaed. He's of age. Ask him. He can legally answer for himself as an adult. So they call him in again.Give glory to God. You know what they are almost certainly referencing here? The sin of Achan. Remember Achan in the OT. Joshua and the nation of Israel march in and conquer Jericho with the Lord's help. But they were told in this first city to not to touch any of the spoil. It was all put under the ban. But one man did not obey. Achan stole that wedge of silver and hid it in his tent. And because of that sin, God caused Israel to be defeated in their next battle. And when the sin was discovered what did Moses say to Achan? “Give glory to God and give praise to him and tell me what you have done.” In other words, you have lied. Your lie has caused great trouble in Israel. God's name has been defamed because of your self-serving schemes. So give glory to God and let the people of Israel know that it was not because God was weak that we were defeated. It was because you sinned.So the Pharisees are pulling out this card. We know you are lying. We know this man is a sinner. Give glory to God and don't continue this stunt. Let's be done with this. Give glory to God and agree that this man is a sinner and that you are lying. His answer is awesome.If I had to guess, I'd say he was a Jack-Jew. I think he was totally disillusioned with this all because his entire life he's been told that the reason he's been born blind is because of some sin he knows nothing about. The people with gold rings sit up front and he's always in the back. He's been unfairly judged. He's been poorly treated. And I think in his heart, "He's like, I want nothing to do with that." Maybe like some of you, you've had a bad church experience and you say to yourself, “I want nothing to do with that church, that place.”But then he met Jesus and it changed his life. He said, listen man, I could care less about your spiritual mumbo-jumbo. You guys go bury yourself in all your rules for all I care. Your ridiculous. Is this guy a sinner? Why is that even a question? Why are you not listening to the obvious thing here?I don't know all that stuff.Here's what I do know: I can see.That, I know for sure.I don't know know all your rules and laws and mandates.But I know this, FOR SURE. Once I was blind. NOW, I see.Listen, this is our testimony. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, this is your testimony. Listen, I don't know a lot of things, but this I know. I was blind. Now I see.This is the verse John Newton used to write amazing grace. Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see.Now for this blind beggar, his eyes opened up in two ways. Of course, he sees physically. But he also begins to see spiritually. I had no reason to live, no purpose, no value, no worth and then I met Jesus Christ. And I don't even know a thing about this guy, but whoever he is, I'm going to follow him the rest of my life. That's spiritual sight.So this is the fourth time, he's been asked the how question. I don't know how much time you've spent talking to people who live on the streets, but as a rule they have nothing to hide. They are typically willing to call a spade a spade. They will answer any question you ask. They are typically jaded, cynical, and have no issue standing up to the pomp of authority. And so this just totally rings true to life.This formerly blind man, can see right through them. He knows fear, jealously and insecurity is driving this whole thing.He just roasts them.His words are just dripping with sarcasm.He's like, "Wait? I can't quite understand why this is confusing to you?See my eyes. They work. They used to not work. And now they work. How? Jesus.You keep asking, how. Oh. Oh now I get it. I see, you aren't confused you are just really interested. The reason you are asking SO MANY how questions about Jesus is you want to find out HOW to become his follower, like me. Your jealous of me. I get it.There is just steam out the ears. Just sweating with rage. As badly as they want to, they can't deny the miracle. So they just affirm what they know:We know we are disciples of Moses.We know that God has spoken to Moses.We don't know where this guy comes from.Now listen to his response.The blind mans open up the theology 101 book they wrote. Bro, you told me from birth that I was blind because of sin. You told me it was either my sin or the sin of my parents that caused this blindness. That's what you told me. You wrote the book.Here's a guy who cures blindness. Here's a guy that undoes the affects of sin, and you are telling me, he's a sinner? AMAZING. You are telling me that you don't know the origin of a guy who restores sight and heals blindness? Astounding. You guys are as dense as a post. no a brick. no black hole. Seriously, what is wrong with you? Curing of blindness is a miracle reserved for Messiah. Isn't that what you told me? Isaiah 35 right? Jesus just pulled off the miracle of causing the blind to see from Is. 35 and you still don't know where this guy is from? Huh. Curious.. It almost feels to me like you are the ones who are blind?They church disciplined him that Sunday and made an example of him. They posted formal declarations of disfellowship. They kicked him out.Now this is my favorite part of the story. Jesus got wind of this conversation. He finds the man and approaches him but remember, the man who was formerly blind doesn't know what he looks like. He couldn't pick Jesus out of a crowd.His faith was ready. God moved. God worked. God healed. He had experienced the power of God and all he needed was the God of that power to reveal himself.How was this man healed? Answer: Jesus.The man born blind didn't see Jesus. Jesus sees the man born blind.The man born blind didn't take the initiave with Jesus - how could he? Jesus takes the initiative with the man born blind.The man born blind doesn't reach out and touch Jesus. Jesus reaches out touches his infirmity.The Bible says very clearly, that it's God who seeks us, not us who seek him. Romans 3 says, “There is none who seek God. All have turned away.”Well, that initiating power does finally reveal himself and the blind man falls on the ground and worships. He's just bowing. And the fundamental movement of his heart at this point is total surrender. Jesus I know nothing about you, but whatever you say, I will do. I know you are good. I know you are powerful. Whatever you say.This is the story of every one of you in the room who knows Jesus Christ. He has been working. He has been initiating. He has been softening and restoring and awakening and healing. And all of the sudden you discover the God whose power you have experienced and you fall on your face and worship.Jesus doesn't say, “Get off the ground. Stop worshiping me.” Instead he says, “That's exactly right.”The same sun that melts the wax hardens the clay. Unless God opens your eyes, you will see no light. You will have no interest in him. Whatever vision you do have will be blinded by the light. If light is too bright for you it pains you. You begin to despise it. It gives you a headache. You want it to go away.Now the text closes with this incredible zinger. It's the explanatory sentence that locks it all together. Apparently, some Pharisees overheard Jesus talking to this man. And they have caught on to the implications. They aren't stupid. They understand now that he's trying to make a spiritual point:Now I imagine this to be just utter sarcasm. I imagine this to almost be a showdown of wills. I imagine them to be just daring him. Do you have the guts to say that the spiritual leaders of Israel are blind? I dare you. And the response is both kind and truthful.It is the confident assurance that I am right, the pride of being certain I can see that in the end is what lead to ultimate blindness. *Notice that it doesn't say, “If you were blind, then you would see.* But since you say, we see you are blind.” Jesus pounds it home.The most blind person in the world is the person who believes they have no guilt. If you say, “I'm a pretty good person. You are as blind as a bat and your guilt remains.”ConclusionJoni Erickson Tada who was wheelchair bound most of her adult life said very simply, very profoundly, “Maybe the truly handicapped people are the ones that don't need God as much.”The man who was born in total darkness lives forever in the light. Why? The men born with the light will live forever in total darkness. Why?It all has to do with how you answer this simple question, “Do you see? The blind man who has been healed answers yes, "I see.” The Pharisees answer, “Yes, I see.” One does not have the light. One has the light. What's the difference. The difference is this. The Pharisee says, “I was born seeing! Of course I see.” But the man born blind says, “Once I was blind, but now I see.”If you want to become a child of God then you need to admit your need. You need to admit the darkness of your sin. Your complete inability and you need to come to the end of yourself and cast yourself at the foot of the cross and say, “Lord I believe.”

I read the memory police earlier this year and while I liked it, it wasn't as fast paced, and I didn't connect to the characters like I wanted to. Any thoughts? -Nostalgic Adult 2. I'm going on a trip to the Appalachian mountains at the end of July and I'm trying to gather some books to bring with me. I'll pretty much read anything, but I'm not a fan of horror. My favorite books are thrillers, mysteries, found family, and memoir. After coming out of a long-term “normal” cis/hetero relationship, I have been finding my true self. Right before the panini-times struck the world, I started exploring poly-amourous relationships and within the last year I openly acknowledged that I am a bisexual woman. My poly-partners have been amazing additions to my life and truly helped hold me together in the last turbulent year. Now that the world is re-opening I'm now tentatively forging a friendship with one of my metamours- the partner of one of my partners – and we've both discovered that we're each new to this way of doing relationships and are trying to figure out how to co-exist peaceably with each other. She's already given me a great recommendation of a book centering on the poly-lifestyle so I'd love to be able to return the favor, as well as find reading material to help further my own journey of self-exploration. Fiction or non-fiction are welcome, but I'm mostly curious to see if there are any novels that feature characters in these types of relationships that are figuring it out. Email Question #1: Guest Book Ideas! I have so many questions for you so I am sure this is not the only email that you will be getting from me, but I have a question about my guestbook. I just listened to your quick focus back in 2017 about the guestbook, but I need your opinion. We have an idea of ordering a vinyl record of the song that we dance our first dance to. We thought it would be cool to have our guests sign the record and have it framed and up in our future home. With that being said, i'm sure we won't be able to read every person's signature. Do we need a formal guest book as well as the vinyl record? We will have our guests addresses if we need them (from the invites) and we will know who ends up attending the wedding, right? Answer to question #1: I LOVE the record idea! It's an awesome way to incorporate your wedding into a design element in your home that truly means something you to. Well done. I do think you should do both. Personally, at my wedding, I got a really nice hardcover book with blank large pages in it and had it out at my wedding and now, when I go through it every few years, I sometimes tear up reading things from family that has since passed away. I only wish I would have put some sort of signage that said something to the effect of "write whatever is in your heart" because some people only signed their name. An example, my grandmother who was such a HUGE influence in my life as a child. I would have loved to have seen what she would have written to me on my wedding day (The good thing is I've saved a lot of the greeting cards she's written to me over the years). So, yes do the record FOR SURE, but also have a simple book with blank pages and lots of pens and some sort of signage so they know they can take their time and write something special. Also, have that book out during cocktail reception as well as wherever dancing will take place so there are several hours of opportunity for your guests to write in it. Oh, and yes, you will have everyone's addresses already in your guest list spreadsheet, so don't worry about getting addresses. Voicemail Question #2: My fiance does'nt know how to handle his 2 Best Men who have been in a 12 year fight. The wedding is in October 2021. He only asked 1 of his 2 friends so far, because they've had a rift for the past 12 years. He wants both of them to be part of his wedding. She wants to say something and jump in, but her fiancé wants to handle it on his own, but hasn't done it yet. What should she do? Answer to question #2: It's hard to know the depth of this situation. But it sounds like your fiancé does not want you to get involved, as much as we wish he would let you. How well do you know these men? If not well, it might actually be nice to have you step in as a moderator, or a third party that maybe doesn't have any real connection to the emotional part of this. This could the impetus to healing friendships. Like with parents, it might be important to say hey we're adults this is important to your fiancé, can you show up to this day in a good way? Consider all the elements. Be careful. And really consider your fiancé's ultimate wishes. Email Question #3: Should we have a mock, 2nd ceremony? My fiancé and I are planning our July 2021 wedding. Our ceremony will be held at a chapel and our reception will be held at an "alumni center". Both are through a local university. We have a slight problem....Our reception is allowing 50 guests, but the chapel is only allowing 40 people total inside, which includes our vendors and 2 of their staff members. We are looking at only being able to invite 32-34 people to the ceremony. We are not willing to move our ceremony since the chapel was the reason why we are having the wedding in the city that we are. We would really love to do a quick second ceremony (10 min tops) for everyone, so those who didn't get to go to our actual ceremony feel included in the day. It would be after cocktail hour and before dinner. We just aren't sure what we should say or do for our second ceremony. We will be walking in together to signify our new marriage. No family or wedding party will be walking in. Do we do traditional vows and exchange rings again? or do something completely different? We just don't know where to start. My brother-in-law will be the "officiant/speaker" for this second ceremony. Maybe we just need a bottle of wine to spark some creativity, lol, but we are both feeling stuck. Answer to question #3: Many of my clients have purposely had a smaller guest count for their ceremony and a larger guest count for the reception. I know this is not what you had originally planned, but it's not an unordinary situation. Having a quickie 2nd ceremony is doable, but I wonder if it's really necessary? I know your intention behind it is not to let anyone feel left out, and that is very thoughtful of you, but what if you just asked your immediate family and wedding party to be at the ceremony and then everyone else to be at the reception without doing the 2nd ceremony? What you could do is ask your videographer, or photographer if they are able to get some images for you from the ceremony to show in a slide show at the reception? It's something you will likely need to pay additional for, but it might be worth it. If you do decide to have the 2nd ceremony, I like the idea of the two of you walking in together and sort of renewing those vows. Perhaps you each write something special just for the 2nd ceremony, and that way it's personalized and a bit of a surprise to each other. Maybe include your guests in the 2nd ceremony by having your BIL asking the guests if they will support this marriage, be there for the two of you when you need them, etc... Maybe your BIL actually begins the 2nd ceremony by saying "we have gathered here today to celebrate this brand new marriage..." It’s so ridiculously obvious that I need to share a VERY SHORT story with you to illustrate how obvious it is. Okay here goes. Once upon a time, there was a man named Michael Saylor.Michael Saylor had really big kahunas.He is the CEO of a publicly traded company, MicroStrategy. He went ahead and purchased a crap ton of Bitcoin. To date, they have purchased 70,470 BTC (yes you read that right) at an average purchase price of $15,964 per bitcoin.That means, they have spent $1.125 BILLION on Bitcoin.That bitcoin is now, as of today, worth $3,593,970,000.That’s almost $4 Billion if you can’t read a number that big (I sure can’t).Just to put that in perspective…It took Saylor’s company 25 YEARS to generate $400 Million Dollars.So, in about 7 months, Saylor has generated 798.49% MORE MONEY than he generated in the HISTORY OF HIS COMPANY. That’s bonkers level crazy. But oh, this story isn’t over.Saylor hosted a “Bitcoin for Corporations” event in early February. I attended a few of the sessions, it was amazing. And it was a smashing success. yes, you read that right.nearly 7 THOUSAND different companies attended. Now this is when it starts to get crazy.Today, yes, Today, Michael Saylor announced that his company is raising $900 MILLION to (you guessed it) buy MORE bitcoin….Now, let’s just stop and think about this for a split second. Obviously Saylor has enough BTC, right?Like, he’s got plenty. So there’s no need to do this, literally ZERO NEED, unless he KNOWS, FOR SURE, that his conference was a success….Are you actually sitting there and telling me that Saylor isn’t in contact with these CEO’s, personally?Last week, a CNBC anchor asked Saylor whether he helped convince Tesla’s Elon Musk to invest $1.5 BILLION in Bitcoin….Here’s the clip..You can literally see him smiling ear to ear and laughing.OF COURSE HE HELPED HIM ARE YOU SERIOUS?So, here’s the deal.1) There is absolutely no doubt that Michael is in direct contact with hundreds, if not thousands of the most powerful CEO’s in the World.2) Those CEO’s are actively working with their accountants, lawyers, and boards of directors to purchase a crap ton of Bitcoin. This process takes time, and they are referring to Michael Saylor’s “playbook” in order to get it done quickly (because he’s already done it.)3) Saylor knows, without a doubt, that this is going on. So, logically, he is buying more Bitcoin before these other “big dogs” do. Because when they buy, the price will go up, and he will make even more money than he already has.That’s honestly it guys and gals. There has never been a more obvious investment, because there has never been another Bitcoin.You don’t need to be a brain surgeon or rocket scientist like Elon Musk or Michael Saylor to understand it. It’s simple supply and demand. There are only 21 million Bitcoin, there can never be 21.1 million.There are thousands if not tens of thousands of corporations lined up to buy this stuff.There are not enough coins to go around.The only way for everyone to get some, is for the price to rocket upwards, and convince some “weaker hands” to sell their coins. Karma isn't good or bad. If I killed someone in a past life, it doesn't mean I have to live a life where I am killed. While we have all lived lives as the violator and the victim and everything in between, we don't live these lives because of each other. One does not necessarily cause the other. It's not that simple and often not how it works. Of course, from my perspective.I'm talking more about my thoughts about and experience with karma, along with something I've been thinking about and referring to as the "swing of evolution". Go to myhappyhomebirth.com/mythbusters to reserve your seat now!   Okay, let’s waste no time and jump into Franchesca’s incredible story!   Show Notes Franchesca and her husband grew up across the street together.  He was 3 years older than her.  They lost touch for 10 years, then reconnected.  They dated for a year and got married exactly a year later.   She “definitely didn’t want kids”, and her husband said he could go either way. They got married in 2018.  About 4 weeks later, Franchesca began balling because she realized she wanted kids.  Her husband laughed and said that’s totally okay. They waited until spring of 2020 to begin trying They became pregnant on their first attempt   Franchesca wanted to use a private OB so that she would know who would deliver her baby.  She expected to use pain medication to avoid anxiety Unfortunately, she did not mesh with her OB very well.  The OB was very nice, but did not understand Franchesca’s anxiety.  She seemed rather dismissive and would tell her, “You don’t want to rub anxiety off on your child…”   Decided to meet with a midwife to see if she could hire her to watch her at home only for labor   The midwife came over the same day and chatted with Franchesca.  Eventually, she asked— Have you considered homebirth? Franchesca mentioned that she had big fears about emergencies, particularly related to bleeding.  Her midwife shared how she carries Pitocin and other medications should bleeding occur.   She decided to tell her OB her plans of laboring at home, especially when she found out that her OB was friends with the midwife.   One issue she had with the OB was that she was wishy-washy.  She said she supported Franchesca working with the midwife, then she suddenly began pushing the idea that she shouldn’t work with a midwife.   She began considering homebirth more, though she always allowed herself the feeling that if she needed to go into the hospital or wanted pain medication, she would easily go in.     Franchesca decided to purchase Happy Homebirth Academy.  She mentions the thoroughness of the course, and how knowing each step that your body is going through during labor is incredibly important.     At 37 weeks she was checked by her OB…. She said that she assumed she would be in labor within the week (She was only 1 cm dilated).   Towards the end of pregnancy, Franchesca began attempting to help her baby out: sex, nipple stimulation, red raspberry tea   On the day before her baby was born, she and her husband went on a walk, had sex, went on another walk, went to the mall and had a massage: Perfect recipe for labor!   Towards the end of the day, she felt like she was getting lots of downward pressure, and maybe even contractions.  She was trying to continue on with normal life, but it was very difficult for her to stay distracted.   She texted her midwife to let her know that she was having contractions, though they weren’t painful.  She told her to take a bath to see if they’d go away.  They intensified somewhat.   Her midwife told her to take a Benadryl and try to get some sleep if she could.     At 5:30 or 6 she woke up and knew that she was truly in labor.     Her midwife came over and checked on her, then said she would give her the IV antibiotics for Group B Strep, though her veins are very small and difficult.  Her midwife allowed her to have an intramuscular shot instead.   She got in the birth pool at 3pm and stayed in until 8pm—when she was in transition.  At that point, she asked her midwife if it was too late to go to the hospital.  She said, “I can prep you, but if you want an epidural I’ll have to give you 2 bags of fluids first… by the time you get to the hospital and actually get the epidural, you’ll be ready to push a baby out.”   Finally her mom and husband asked if the midwife could break her water.  The midwife said, “let me check her first…” she went to check Franchesca, and her water burst on its own…. Suddenly Franchesca felt the deep urge to push.   Her baby began crowning, and she felt it was intense, but not her least favorite part of labor.  The head emerged, so her husband caught the baby and handed it to her.     Her midwife said, “At one point, I asked God to give you this experience so that you’d know that you are healthy and strong.”  Franchesca says that it did change the way she believes in her body.     Episode Roundup:   Anxiety does not have to opt you out of a homebirth.  You CAN take steps to conquer your fears, learn about your body, and learn your strengths as a woman through the process of midwifery care and homebirth. I found it so interesting, and such a neat perspective that Franchesca was in no way dogmatic about her choices.  She allowed herself the grace to choose where she would finally give birth all the way up and through her labor.  Though this may not be the way others view their home birthing decision, I certainly appreciate Franchescha mentioning this, and I do believe it could be a very helpful approach for some. Last week we talked about how important it was to be able to start to embody the person you need to be in order to create the future you want – you need to already think feel and act like that person who has already achieved the things in life you want to manifest. Whether that is a future of more kindness. More freedom. Most justice for all... no matter what you want to manifest, the principles are the same.And like you may have heard me say before: the things we talk about here don’t pick sides. It's not like manifesting work and thought work is only effective for peace and love and funding non-profits.Depending on what we choose to focus our energies on - our thoughts and feelings - we can also manifest negative things, things that don’t benefit the greater good or ourselves. Or we can be very selfish with what we use these things for.So when we do work manifesting material things, I try to always remember why - what is the purpose of this? If it is because I think it will make me happy, I need to rethink this.But if is it fun? Then YESIf it is a challenge? Then YESWill it solve some problem so I can put my energy to more important things? YES.And my favorite: Will creating this help me evolve?Then HELL YES!So we need to be very intentional with what we manifest. And because compassion and integrity are big values here at Rebel Buddhist, I think we also need to be mindful of how what we manifest impacts others - the world, the earth, people in other countries, future generations, our neighbors, other sentient beings.It’s not abundance that creates evil or corrupts. I don’t believe that for a second. I know way too many amazing philanthropists and good that has come out of abundance.Rather, it’s how we get there, and what we do with it, yeah?So I want to teach you a very powerful tool that I use often, and with it comes some responsibility, so I want to ask that you please use it to go out there and make this world a better place - to help you live your purpose and make the most of this one precious life, and to have a ripple effect to inspire others and help the world be a more joyful and kind place where humans get back to what they were meant to do: enjoying the precious life.This process is called the 4-Step Mini-Visualization.Visualization is a very valuable technique. It’s when you go through a process or experience within your mind’s eye and it helps with planning and with taking actions and performance, which is why it’s used by many entrepreneurs and athletes as wellBut don’t think it's just for what some would call “worldly goals.” As I mentioned last week, one of the first visualizations I was ever taught was with Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and he taught me to visualize myself as Shakyamuni Buddha and to picture myself as already enlightened, to feel my body as Shakyamuni Buddha’s, and to see myself acting with the utmost kindness and compassion and selflessness of a Buddha.And it definitely helped me be more kind, compassionate, and selfless.Visualization works in many contexts because we are BEING that which we wish to be - and that - as you learned in the last episode - is one of the keys to creating what you want in life.This particular technique is meant to be relatively quick, and I use it when I have something happening relatively soon that I want to go a certain way - like an interview, or a program launch, or a meeting, a difficult conversation.In this episode I’ll walk you through the 4 steps in detail so you can show up in a way that you’re proud of in any scenario – whether that’s confident, compassionate, calm, excited...whatever way you need to show up to impact the world in the way that you want.Why do we even both with visualization?Because if you can’t even visualize it, it can’t even happen.But if you can imagine it, now it has the possibility of happening.You’ve been there maybe, or a perhaps you’ve had a friend who’s been there - where we try to imagine a better outcome for something we’re super upset about and we think, “Oh wow...I can’t even imagine what that would be like.”Well, exactly, and too bad because then it aint’ going to happen!So the creation of a new reality begins with imagining it.This goes for your next job.Your next orgasm.Your next vacationYour next relationshipYour next meetingAnd it can expand to your community - how you show up as a leader, mentor, an inspirationThe world we want to create - how do we go into that meeting and convince someone we need to prioritize black lives?Cut back on carbon emissions?Increase the number of BIPOC hired?Give women equal pay, create a safer work environment?Advocate for Universal Healthcare and a liveable minimum wage?Can you see that it is ALL connected? How the principles or manifesting are universal?I recommend you do this visualization a few times a day working up to the event, and FOR SURE do this right before it.And FEEL those feelings in your bones. In every cell of your body.See it as happening. As good as DONE!If we want a better world, rebels, we need to be able to visualize it.We need to visualize what it would look like - and HOW we show up in its creation, what our role is.So, what is that going to be for you, rebel?What’s that thing you’ve got coming up or looming over your head that you want to totally rockHow do you want to show up during that? What do you want to create?And how will you be feeling as you create it?FEEL THAT NOW.Sure, we’re going to need to take courageous action. Massive action, in fact, to make all that happen as well.But when we use these tools, we are way more likely to take effective action in creating the life we want. Episode #31: Believing in MagicMy daughter just turned 11.  In the past year, she learned the tooth fairy isn't real, and I'm pretty sure she knows the truth about Santa.  She's asking a lot of questions!The other night, I was trying to ask questions that would help me figure out FOR SURE if she still believed or not.  She won't say, but I'm still pretty sure she doesn't.  But, I started wondering how the heck I was going to explain perpetuating this myth over her 11 years of life.I remembered a letter a mom posted online several years ago sharing what she had told her children about Santa.  It was beautiful.  It talked about how they (mom and dad) were the ones that put presents under the tree, but no, they were not Santa.  No one person is Santa. The letter talked about how Santa is so much more than a big guy in a red suit with flying reindeer.  He is a symbol of the true spirit of Christmas - of love, kindness and giving.  Santa teaches kids to believe in something they can't see, which is something that we all need throughout our lifetimes.Believing in Santa teaches us how to believe in the magic of Christmas.  We are all Santa, and we keep that spirit alive and spread it this time of year.This episode talks about how to find the magic of the season again.  After all, as adults, we lose our ability to believe in, or even feel, magic.  And even more than believing in magic during the holidays, how can you find magic in our every day life? Founded by Keith Raniere in 1998 - at its height, NXIVM counted thousands of members, including celebrities, heirs and heiresses who all paid thousands, and sometimes MILLIONS of dollars to attend a never-ending series of classes at various NVIXM training centers. Lying at the intersection of a multi-level marketing scheme, a self-help group, and occasionally a summer camp, NXIVM was FOR SURE a cult. People started publicly worrying about how dangerous this cult might be all the way back in 2003. When I had decided absolutely to start a freedom business a strange thing happened. I learned about the Value Cycle, (entire video discussing what it is and how to use it is in the Freedom Club), and it lit my mind on fire! I went from having NO ideas on what niche to go into or products or anything specific to 1000's of ideas. It's like the act of deciding I was going to do it FOR SURE turned on something in me. At first, I really liked it. I was a business idea generator. 1000's of business ideas. 1000's of different avatars I wanted to help. 1000's product idea's I had so many business ideas it was hard to sleep. It actually became a bit of a burden. I didn't know which idea I should focus my time on. At first, I decided to pick about 5 businesses and give them all a shot, which I did. It was chaos. Couple 5 businesses with FOMO (fear of missing out) on all the shiny and new techniques the big-wig goo roos were tempting me with so they could make more dollars and I was making very little progress in ANY of my business. This actually went on for years until I ended up in a very special local mastermind group. There was only 5 of us and we'd meet once, sometimes twice a month. Every time we'd meet we'd all get a turn chatting about our businesses, what worked, what didn't work, and what we needed help on. There were some big hitters in the group, but one specifically taught me a very important lesson. We'll call him "Mike". Mike had a big business. Mike was making about 1 million dollars a month, no joke. Mike didn't say too much, but when he did it was usually life altering. One time, I was blathering on about several problems I was having in several of my businesses. I realized that the Mike didn't really say anything after I blathered on and on and I made a mental note to talk to in after, which I did. I asked him what he thought about my general issues with business and if he had any advice. He said my main problem was that I couldn't say the most magic and important word in business… NO. He said I’d make as much money as he does from saying no to everything except what will help his ONE audience the most and that makes him the most money. That's it. One business, one issue. That changed everything for me. I started learning to say no. One of the 5 business I had was Internet Business Mastery and it was a "whenever we get around to it" business. I talked to my business partner, Jason, and we decided to say no to everything else and just focus. That one act changed our future. We doubled our profits each year for the next 4 years (and had nice steady growth for years after) all by saying NO to everything but what would help our audience most. No. No. NO. No really comes down to focus, learning about the Value Cycle, and picking one audience to help. Building a business around that is what changed everything for me. This is the one where Mel is a test pilot in 1939, gets cryogenically frozen for a year to avoid the pain watching his girlfriend die in a hospital slowly, and then waked up over 50 years later to find out he was abandoned by everyone he knew and loved. Only he wasn't.....and if you love history, romance, flying, and Chargers you'll absolutely love this movie. The audio alone is with your time. Yes....we believe the last "Sound Stage" General Lee is the car in this movie, and yes, that's the primary reason we reviewed it. However, this movie gets a Perfect 10 from ALL OF US for just being a great, fun, enjoyable story to watch and enjoy! OK....with that said, the deep dive on the Chargers in this film is somewhat exhaustive and definitely sickening. We can absolutely say FOR SURE that there were two Generals used in the movie, as documented in the episode. Remember, Warner Brothers kept the "Sound-Stage" car as well as one Hero car.  The Sound Stage car was a '68 Charger faked to look like a '69 (grille and taillight changes), and the Hero car was a '69. We feel pretty certain that the '68 was used for the bulk of the movie....except for two interior scenes. Remember these words: DOME LIGHT.
