If Conor McGregor is out of the USADA testing pool, he needs to be out of the official UFC rankings - it's only fair Remember two years ago when Dana White told the UFC matchmakers to build the women's featherweight division? What happened with that edict? MMA media doesn't need to carry water for the UFC, but it sure like to do free PR for the promotion The future of the UFC is not coming until the promotion fixes its pay Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz should do everything they can to cut the UFC out of their trilogy fight Fighters being nervous about advocating for better pay and benefits doesn't mean they don't care about pay and benefits --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/trent-reinsmith/support

EPISODE 31 Fighter pay has been the hottest topic over the last two weeks because of Luke Rockhold going full scorched earth with the UFC and Dana. Give your thoughts on what Luke said, especially the part where he mentioned Dana basically being given the reins to run the UFC however he sees fit. We've spoken on this before but Luke Rockhold's comments still raise the theory that things were so much better for the fighters under the Fertittas. Were they or is that a bunch of smoke and mirrors? Luke mentioned leverage and how the UFC has it all. How can the fighters get leverage outside of some sort of solidarity movement/strike etc? Are there other things they can do to leverage themselves, and I'm talking about fighters from the entry level floor all the way to champion level. Ariel recently had Sean O'Malley on and you just can't watch that interview without coming away thinking Sean has done a complete 180. I saw on your timeline you agreed with some things Ariel was saying. Would you elaborate a bit for our listeners on the parts you agree with and your take on O'Malley's comments. Paulo Costa says he only made $35K for the Vettori fight. I was absolutely aghast when I saw that. Paulo is 11-2 and has been in a title fight. How in the world does something like this happen? You've had the opportunity to look at several UFC contracts. Do they all have escalators built in? Like is that a standard for all contracts or just for the ones savvy enough to ask for it? The infamous Dana White vs. MMA Media went back up recently and I saw a comment you made that said there was no mention of fighters having to waive gross negligence on the UFC's part before they could return to the octagon. Please elaborate on that. Another topic that's been on fire is interim titles. Give your take on whether they're a good thing, a bad one, or maybe a little bit of both. What's your take on James Krause doing an official UFC betting show while actively training fighters? One Championship made its debut tonight on Amazon Prime. I couldn't help but notice that there wasn't a hashtag trend big enough to even show up in sports trends, much less the main portion of Twitter. Is that indicative of anything, or am I reading too much into that? I saw that they recently moved all their shares to a Grand Cayman Islands entity, essentially re-domiciling there. Please explain what re-domiciling means and why this is sort of a big deal. Oleksandr Usyk is on track to be the highest boxing earner this year. How did he manage that? Deontay Wilder said that boxing isn't really a sport, it's just a business. Would you agree with his assessment? It's almost a forgone conclusion that Saudi Arabia will get Fury-Usyk. Is there a real gain for them to continue dumping massive money towards sportswashing? AS REQUESTED, Here is one of my personal favorite GAME TYPE episodes from back in 2015 with TED CZECH and EVil Eddie where you at home could send in your TOP 5 LIST! So when we refer to the "Apocalypse ( When we discussed what kind of an Apocalypse we would be trying to survive in we pictured more like a MAD MAX mixed with "The Walking Dead") Even more interesting, Along with picking your fighters, you must also give a very good reason as to why that fighter would be a good asset to have on your team to survive. THE ONLY RULES OR CAUTIONS FOR PICKING YOUR TEAM: Each fighter must have their own special skill and as we all know... NO ONE IS PERFECT... So maybe you would want McGregor on your team at the time but would his ego leave you for dead? Is it a good idea to have all BIG GUYS? What would be the best weight class that holds all-around qualities for survival? If you can only pick 5 fighters should you at least have one female to have on your team or two because in the end we may have to repopulate the earth with the most elite fighters (of 2016 in this case) so don't be picky If you do have to repopulate earth who would be the best fit to create the next generation of children from your team? Who would be able to get along the best and follow directions without causing any drama that may lead to danger? Who would you pick as the team captain that everyone would respect and could make the best choices for battle, shelter, and handling conflicts or negotiating when running into other small tribes along our way? Who would be able to help the team keep a high spirit when the days turn to weeks the weeks turn to months and then years? How would you and your team travel around? -------- IF YOU WANT TO WATCH THIS EPISODE ON THE PURE EVIL MMA YOUTUBE CHANNEL CLICK THE LINK BELOW! As anyone who has listened to an episode or two of this podcast can probably tell you, I have always been big on signs from the universe. Every time I take a step towards where I need to be in life the universe usually sends me a sign or 2 to make sure I realize it and today's episode is a huge example of that! On the very first day of pursuing this podcast full time I was able to hop on zoom with the CFFC middleweight champion Aaron Jeffery to talk about his career, the state of Mma today and a ton of other fight related goodness! This was a huge deal to me and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to talk to a fighter of Aaron's caliber and get to ask all the weird inside baseball type of questions only someone intimately involved with the sport would be able to answer. Not only is he skilled, dedicated and full of heart but Aaron was also extremely generous with his time and his kindness and I can't thank him enough for coming onto the pod and I can't wait to watch his journey closely and hopefully get him on again so you guys can too! Check Aaron out on Instagram at @aajmaa and also check out his nutrition page at @jefferynutrition

Conner Cordova has become so much more than just "The Kid Who Took UFC Cage Girl Arianny Celeste To Prom." The Building Downtown (@TheBuildingDT) hosts Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Kirill Kasatskiy (@KrilRaps) talked to Cordova about his lifelong dedication to martial arts, working in the combat sports industry, rubbing elbows with the likes of Chuck Liddell, Georges St. Pierre and other MMA megastars, creating content that didn't follow suit, the decision to walk away from MMA media after having success and being nominated for MMA Journalist of the Year, eventually taking over his parents' dojo (Peoples Kenpo Karate Association in Littleton, Colo.), and his most recent endeavor which put him in the video game space. Cordova is the owner of the YouTube channel, Random Side Quest. The channel focuses on Horizon Zero Dawn and goes in depth to provide a history to the story of the game. Cordova elaborated on his goals with the channel, as well as what he has in mind when he is finished with Horizon Zero Dawn. Well, Friday is here, so that means we are turning our gaze to what's been happening in the world of #MMA We start things off with our week 9 NFL predictions. 'Dana White's Contender Series' is back, so we checked out week 8 where Jared Vanderaa, Luis Saldana, Ignacio Bahamondes & Carlos Ulberg all got contracts. Bare Knuckle FC has announced the debut of Paige VanZant. Canelo Alvarez is now a free man, after severing ties with Golden Boy Promotions & DAZN. The WBC has created a new belt for the Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jnr fight and the California State Athletic Commission's thoughts on how it'll be overseen might turn people off. Before Corey Anderson made his Bellator debut, he wanted to vent and the terrible MMA journalists didn't ask anything constructive. Plus, Diego Sanchez went on a Twitter spiral with an odd attack of Dan Hardy. FINALLY, we give the 'UFC on ESPN+ 40' weigh-in's a quick look. Today's (ep 106) @ChinCheckPod breaks it all down, so let's get with it! - NFL Week 9: Predictions - Dana White's Contender Series: Series 4: Week 8 - BKFC announce Paige VanZant's debut - Canelo Alvarez severs ties with Golden Boy and DAZN - WBC create a new belt for Tyson vs Jones Jnr and throw 'Black Lives Matter' on it! - Corey Anderson vents before debut and MMA Media don't ask the proper questions!!! - Diego Sanchez goes on late night Twitter spiral - UFC on ESPN+ 40: Santos vs. Teixeira - weigh-in's *(Music) 'Calm Down' (feat. Eminem) by Busta Rhymes - 2014
This week's topics include: 1. Dana White on Anderson Silva: - White takes a shot at the MMA media but then uses them to deliver the message Anderson Silva is washed up. - White seems mad that Silva liked dealing with Lorenzo Fertitta more than he likes the UFC now. - Remember how many fights BJ Penn had when he was washed? Anderson Silva is not near where Penn was. - An athletic commission should allow Silva to fight if he wants to. - White said we would “shit our pants” if we found out how much Anderson Silva makes. Well, he’s right, but for the wrong reason. Silva’s most recent disclosed pay was $600K. He made all of $200K for the second Chael Sonnen fight. - Why I think White doesn’t want Silva to fight — he doesn’t want to pay him. - White treated Silva like family? I don’t want to live in that family. - 11 punches thrown in the 2nd Rd? Nah, that number was 54. - White is trying to lower Silva’s value to another promotion. 2. White on Khabib Nurmagomedov: - It sure sounds like Khabib wants to stay retired. Says, “of course Dana wants to continue fighting & generate revenue.” - Khabib knows his value & doesn’t seem to be interested in making money for White. - White bothering Khabib to come back is selfish. - White should not hold up the lightweight title on a hope. 3. White falsely claims Robert Whittaker doesn’t want to fight Israel Adesanya & some closing thoughts on Anderson Silva (13:34-17:00) - White says Adesanya is fighting Blachowicz for the UFC light heavyweight title & claims Whittaker doesn’t want the Adesanya fight. Turns out Whittaker said he wants that fight & only that fight. - White needs to release Silva or give him a fight. 4. Bryce Mitchell: - Mitchell is anti-mask & seems to miss the fact we live in a society & everyone has a responsibility to keep their community & society from getting sick. It’s selfish, dumb & it’s the reason the US has an incredibly high death rate & continues to have a growing number of cases of COVID-19. - Mitchell also provides a wrong number of deaths in Arkansas (270 vs 1,900+). - If Mitchell wants to know why there won’t be a vote on masks all he needs to do is listen to his words & look in the mirror. It’s not about Bryce Mitchell, it’s about society. 5. Greg Hardy: - MMA media asks soft questions that allow Greg Hardy to portray himself as a victim. Using “controversy” in place of arrest & conviction, with charges later being dropped when the woman stopped cooperating with prosecutors. The questions are exactly what the UFC would want from the unpaid PR arm of the UFC. - We don’t know Greg Hardy. We know the image he tries to present to the MMA Media. - Hardy claims he is an innocent man & always has been. This isn’t true. - Hardy claims he is a redemption story. He’s not. - Hardy is asked if he thought this would be behind him (not asked why he would think that way) then paints himself as a victim. This should not be behind Hardy until he acknowledges & apologizes. If Hardy is a victim, it’s a victim of the choices he made. - Hardy claims he presented “real details” of his case. They are details, but they leave out a big piece of the police report. Hardy’s account lacks context. - Hardy did get due process. He was judged in the court of law. He was not executed by Instagram. He was declared guilty. The media once again sets Hardy up to play the victim. - Another softball question allowing him to play the victim again, “How do you push past what happened before the fight.” - Hardy claims he is setting an example for kids. The media seemed like a Greg Hardy fan club instead of Media. - MMA media should listen to the way Hardy was handled & learn from it. This was not handled well at all. White created an environment where anything can be said & written off as mean things fighters say, including when fighters praise a murderer. There’s still time to reflect & change, will Dana do that? - White is taking back some of Conor McGregor’s power.

Episode 05 *Today’s episode is the first of several (I hope) ‘Cooking with MMA Media’ segments. The plan is to do episodes with members of MMA media known for their prowess in the kitchen, and have them walk us through a recipe with plenty of questions from me along the way. There are quite a few chefs in our community, so I hope to highlight them and their extraordinary dishes. Staff writer and co-host of The Level Change Podcast and the 6th Round Retro Show, Victor Rodriguez is my first guest chef. He walks us through a hearty bean stew recipe, complete with tips and shortcuts for those with time limitations. During the episode, we mentioned a few stories about where ‘chitlins’ and hushpuppies were said to have originated. I have linked those stories for future reading. Victor’s recipe is also included. BEAN STEW - 1/2 to 1lb of Red kidney beans - 3-5 sprigs of leaf cilantro or flat cilantro, preferably both - 1 large can sweet corn or a 1 1/2 cup of frozen corn - Thinly sliced short rib, bone in - large wedges of ham, or a ham steak - 2-4 chicken thighs, skin on - 2-3 smoked pork chops - Assorted pork neck bones, - 1 large onion, red or white - 2 cups squash, cubed - 1 cubanela pepper - 1 regular green pepper, thinly sliced - Garlic (freshly shredded or minced from a jar), at your discretion. - Big splash of bitter orange or 1-2 capfuls of white or red vinegar. You can also use one capful both vinegars - 1 Longaniza (Dominican sausage) Put the beans in your Instant Pot/slow cooker or pressure cooker of choice. Put any meats except the sausage in the pot with a 2:1 ratio of water. Let the beans soften and cook with meats for a minimum of 4-5 hours. Roast the sausage in the oven until cooked, about 20min. Pull sausage out of pan to cool, sautee chopped onion in that pan. Transfer all items to standard pot on stovetop, take 1 1/2 cups of beans and starchy bean water in a blender with your garlic (the more the better, personally), even if already minced. Pour with rest of beans and separate all meats. Skin the chicken thighs and put the skins in a skillet on low heat to render fat, spooning out fat as it melts. Save chicken fat for later use, reserve some to sear chicken thighs with a pinch of salt in pan. Cube other meats and slice the sausage, incorporate them into the pot of beans. Add cilantro, finely ground oregano, and bitter orange. Cook until reduced and slightly thickened, add salt and pepper to taste. Finally, Joe Rizzo is spending time with me. The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Rizzo (@rearnakedchoke) talked about starting an MMA website in a different time. Things like UStream, WordPress, and physical social networking were the method to success in the Silver Star sponsorship days of MMA. It is a new age, when anyone can create a platform and spew out drivel without any regard for quality. Rizzo's foray into the sport of MMA is one that should not only be appreciated, but also used as an educational tool to learned from. Kelly and Rizzo were introduced to each other over a phone call in December 2010, which was set up by Conner Cordova. It was an opportunity Kelly took seriously as he prepared to advance in combat sports media and be aligned with the likes of Rizzo, Hector Castro, Rob Tatum, Bryan Henderson, and the rest of the staff at MMA DieHards. Rizzo and Castro created the website for MMA DieHards when there was no option like Wix. You needed a web designer, or at least someone who knows their way around web page development. Rizzo explained how you started an MMA website when the sport was still considered underground, the availability of sponsors to help foot the bill, how you drive viewers to your site, build content and recruit talent. Kelly joined the team and learned from Rizzo, but was set up with an abundance of opportunities from Castro. Between the two owners, Kelly cemented his spot in the print world of MMA. As time went on, Rizzo had to leave the site, which put Kelly in the Feature Content Manager position. While continuing to interview and write, Kelly got into the podcast side of media coverage. Kelly brought Rizzo back to guest co-host MMA Dieards Radio, but that quickly led to Rizzo reviving Rear Naked Choke Radio. UFC 249 is happening (as of right now)Tony Ferguson Vs. Justin Gaethje and I love the fight. I rant about media and I got a little mad. I also just kind of ramble about everything and anything. Fun show.
