The controversial video of Hayley Bayley's "let them eat cake", followed by her apology, raised the questions: "should celebrities be speaking up on Gaza?" And if not: "should we just block them for their silence?" (And also, "are we in District 12, living real life hunger games right now?") Today, helping us answer these questions, we have with us TV personality: Dom Gabriel. You might have seen him on Netflix Reality TV shows such as, "The Mole" and "The Perfect Match". Here are the 5, important pieces of relationship advice for men that are discussed in this episode: 1. Avoid double standards - they're toxic. For example, with your sisters, you should not expect her to do less simply because she is a woman. 2. Control does NOT equal protection 3. You need to be clear about consent. It's always better to ask than assume. 4. If you're sexually active, you can get an STD/STI. You have an obligation to notify people you've hooked up with recently. 5. Should you still be friends with an ex or previous situationship? That is a question you can only answer, but your current partners feelings are valid. Today, I had the pleasure to speak to comedian and friend, Oussama Tabbara. We delved into a discussion, that ranged from hypocrisy found in some Arab men to having an important discussion on consent. Though the title of the episode is "Arab Men", I'm sure the themes discussed can be applied to many cultures and dynamics. Disclaimer: By producing this episode, our goal is not to reinforce stereotypes or create a negative image on Arab men. We ourselves are proud Arab men. We discuss our lived experiences and our observations through our lens, with the goal of challenging norms and creating an open dialogue about it. In this episode, we talk about what a life for yourself looks like, what really is "self-love" and healing. From expectations to heartache, we talk about when and how we heal, and how to really listen and trust your heart. I had the pleasure to sit down with @NajwaZebian . Najwa is a best-selling author, poet, activist, speaker, and educator. The search for a home—what Najwa describes as a place where the soul and heart feel at peace—was central to her early years. She has written extensively about what 'finding a home within' means, and how to heal our hearts. In this unfiltered conversation, we discuss what self-love actually means. This definition of self-love is discussed through the lens of culture and community, as well as what happens we live a life for others. We also talk about heartbreak and the idea of hope, denial, the "villain ex", as well why it's important to listen to our heart when it says to "never again" wanting to fall in love.
