In this week's episode, we are tackling stress and touching on overwhelm. These two emotions, especially overwhelm, can be so harmful to our well-being, but we often don't realize we can address them right away. Whether its stress eating that derails our weight loss journey, or feeling overwhelmed by work, relationships, or money, we know these emotions impact our physical and mental health. My goal is to give you strategies to manage these emotions and help you thrive—not just get by. Stress and overwhelm can wreak havoc, but with the right mindset and tools, we can handle them better and create thriving, happier lives. We will also discuss how stress is different from anxiety and why it's important to distinguish the two. Plus, I'll share some fun, practical strategies to manage stress. Whether it's giving your workout gear personalities or trying on accents, we're adding some humor to help lighten the load. Let's remember the ultimate goal here: you and I are enough just as we are, and taking the pressure off ourselves can do wonders.  Quote of the week: “These mountains you are carrying, you were only supposed to climb” – Najwa Zebian.Let's go, let's get it done. Najwa's insights shed light on understanding differing perspectives and fostering open dialogue to achieve a fulfilling and meaningul life. Throughout our conversation, we also touch on the importance of self-awareness and empathy in reducing judgment and criticism of others. By exploring how understanding one's values and imperfections fosters compassion, we highlight the problem of defensiveness and the unwillingness to engage in open conversations. Nezha shares personal anecdotes, such as her experience of removing the hijab and facing backlash, illustrating the challenges and importance of staying true to oneself while navigating societal pressures. We emphasize the value of dialogue and understanding differing perspectives for unity and growth. Finally, we explore the profound journey of personal growth, healing, and living authentically. Nezha and I discuss the significance of embracing pain and seeking clarity, rather than masking issues with superficial solutions. By reflecting on past traumas and the transformative power of self-love and inner reflection, we underscore the necessity of setting boundaries and surrounding oneself with supportive relationships. Listen in as we share powerful stories and metaphors that highlight the urgency of embracing one's authentic truth and the liberating process of transforming knowing into doing. In our lives, we are often confronted with moments of profound change - whether it's the result of circumstances beyond our control, or a deliberate choice to step into something new. During these pivotal transitions, it can be tempting to focus on pleasing others or trying to meet the expectations of our family, friends, and community. However, truly transformative growth requires the courage to choose ourselves and to trust our inner wisdom. Author and activist, Najwa Zebian, offers a powerful example of what it looks like to reclaim one's autonomy in the face of a lifetime of feeling out of place and unworthy. Her journey of self-discovery provides a roadmap for navigating change with conviction, self-compassion, and a commitment to living one's truth. Jen and Najwa explore:  The profound impact of emotional neglect and feeling out of place can deeply shape one's self-worth and choices later in life. Connecting with the power of language and self-expression can be a vital lifeline and pathway to healing. Making bold choices for oneself can be a necessary and courageous act of self-preservation. Allowing one's "world to revolve around you" and trusting your own inner wisdom is essential for navigating life's changes and uncertainties with conviction and self-compassion. Author Bio Dr. Najwa Zebian is a Lebanese-Canadian activist, author, speaker, and educator. Najwa began to write to connect with and help heal her first students, who were a group of young refugees. Through that effort with her students, she began a deep healing process for herself. She is the author of six books. She delivered the Ted Talk, “Finding Home Through Poetry.” She also recently launched a digital school called Soul Academy and a podcast called “In the Clear.” Her latest book is called “The Only Constant.” * * * Thought-Provoking Quotes: “Neglect isn't just about not getting your basic needs met. I think the most harmful neglect is not getting the things you do need." - Najwa Zebian "There was always this invitation to not allow myself to experience anger because it was a negative thing. But now I realize there's healthy anger; there's healthy resentment; and it's also healthy to project those feelings outwards. Otherwise, they're inside." - Najwa Zebian "I look at myself as a people pleaser — as somebody who's like, "I can't handle disappointing someone, I can't handle disappointing my family, I can't." But it got to a point where I was definitely willing to do that because I was so aware that continuing to live my life in a certain way meant that I was going to be suffering so much, and I wasn't willing to suffer in that way [anymore].” - Najwa Zebian Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Finding Home Through Poetry (Najwa's Ted Talk) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNRygxe_8Ys Soul Academy (Najwa's Digital School) - https://najwa-soul-academy.teachable.com/p/home In the Clear (Najwa's Podcast) - https://najwazebian.com/podcasts The Only Constant by Najwa Zebian - https://najwazebian.com/the-only-constant Welcome Home by Najwa Zebian - https://najwazebian.com/welcome-home Hijab - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijab Mind Platter by Najwa Zebian - https://najwazebian.com/mind-platter Guest's Links: Najwa's Website - https://najwazebian.com/ Najwa's Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/najwazebian Najwa's Tik Tok - https://www.tiktok.com/@najwazebian Najwa's Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/najwazebian1 Najwa's Twitter - https://twitter.com/najwazebian Najwa's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/najwazebian Connect with Jen! In today's conversation, we talk about the importance of operating from a place of not needing everyone to be okay with you to be okay with yourself. Especially if you're a people pleaser, you probably struggle with OPO syndrome (Other Peoples' Opinions). When we look at this from a self-leadership angle, it becomes clear that allowing others' opinions to dictate what you do or how you do it is a matter of allowing them to lead your life. Is that how you want to live your life?Do you deal with people in your life guilting you into behaving or being a certain way? Do you find yourself having to dim your light so others in your life could feel less uncomfortable or better about themselves? Who is leading your life? And most importantly, do you want to be the leader of your life? This episode will help bring you clarity on the power you have to lead your life from a place of authenticity and integrity. In The Clear, with Dr. Najwa Zebian and Stephan Maighan. In today's conversation, we talk about the importance of reflecting on your place in people's lives. Often times, on our quest to belong, we opt to try to fit into the boxes others have built for us. In the process, we leave our authentic selves behind. That's a tiring existence. You know that. Have you ever taken a step back from the relationships in your life and asked whether those relationships actually accept you as you are? Are you only welcome in those relationships based on what you have to offer, or what part you play in their story/ies? What about past relationships that existed in your life? Are there any patterns that you notice? This episode will help bring you clarity on the power you have to remove yourself from places that only use you and to place yourself in places that see you, value you and honor you for who you are. In The Clear, with Dr. Najwa Zebian and Stephan Maighan. We're pulling back the curtain: Najwa shares steps you can start taking TODAY to get out of and heal from the toxic relationships holding you back Toxic people put up with your red flags, healthy people do not! (know your red flags ladies!) The thing you most want and need can make it easy for you to accept your partner's bad behaviors This episode is an urgent reminder to put yourself first, get control of your life and stop selling yourself short. We're exposing the manipulative nature of toxic unhealthy relationships many of us unfortunately find ourselves in, and taking notes of the amazing insights about manipulative unhealthy relationships and the upbringing that set many of us up for the B.S. we spend years trying to escape. “Relationships with partners are the foundation for how we feel about ourselves.” -Najwa Zebian Take this walk with us as we explore the tough journey away from the intoxicating highs of destructive relationships and get back to your most authentic self.  NAJWA'S WISDOM: “What's really hard is to have someone add to your life, to have someone sit with you in your darkest moments.” “To know your worth is very different from living through your worth.” “People make mistakes in relationships. There are repairs that could happen, but the repair should never be one that is only led by the person who's hurt.” “I want to be the strong confident me that I know, but if I remove the part of me that's vulnerable, that's not part of the strong confident me, it's just not me.” Follow Najwa Zebian: Website: https://najwazebian.com/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/najwazebian  Twitter: https://twitter.cokkfdlk dfmlkfd m/najwazebian  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/najwazebian/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/najwazebian1  Podcast: https://najwazebian.com/stories-of-soul-podcast  Sponsors: Women of Impact Podcast is sponsored by Growthday Network: https://growthday.com/podcasts Go to GreenChef.com/lisa50 and use code lisa50 to get 50% off plus free shipping.

I'm so excited to have my girl, Najwa Zebian, back for another incredibly powerful conversation. Ladies! This episode is an urgent reminder to put yourself first, get control of your life and stop selling yourself short. This time Najwa is exposing the tricky and manipulative nature of toxic unhealthy relationships many of us unfortunately find ourselves in. Najwa is a bestselling author, activist, and an absolute wordsmith when it comes to putting words to the pain and experiences we share in being women.  As usual, she's dropping gems and insights about manipulative tactics that trap us in unhealthy relationships and the upbringing that sets the stage for all the B.S. we spend years trying to escape. “Relationships with partners are the foundation for how we feel about ourselves.” -Najwa Zebian This two-part conversation gets juicy right from the start as we expose signs that you're in a toxic relationship. What you sometimes believe to be normal, is actually a trap! So, in part one we're diving into: ‘Good girl' conditioning has betrayed you, it's time to turn up the volume on your intuition and stop prioritizing everyone else over what's best for you. Pay attention to these signals to avoid manipulation that turns into a nightmare relationship. This habit makes it easy for us to accept and excuse other people's bad behavior, Najwa exposes that for you too so you can stop it immediately. Take this walk with us as we explore the tough journey away from the intoxicating highs of destructive relationships and get back to your most authentic self. We have a WARNING for you ladies: toxic people put up with your red flags, healthy people do not! (know your red flags ladies!) NAJWA'S WISDOM: “People who care about you and love you genuinely want what's in your best interest.” “Who they are with you in private is a completely different person from who they are around other people.” “The difference between someone who is toxic and someone who is healthy is their willingness to talk to you about it.” “You could have a great career, you could be making good money, you could have great friendships, you could have a great family relationship, you could have a great community around you. If your intimate relationship is not good, if it's toxic, if it's manipulative, it could bring all of that down.” “Relationships with partners are the foundation for how we feel about ourselves.” “What is fueled by shame has to be sustained by shame, and what's fueled by compassion has to be sustained by compassion.” Follow Najwa Zebian: Website: https://najwazebian.com/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/najwazebian  Twitter: https://twitter.cokkfdlk dfmlkfd m/najwazebian  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/najwazebian/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/najwazebian1  Podcast: https://najwazebian.com/stories-of-soul-podcast  Sponsors: Women of Impact Podcast is sponsored by Growthday Network: https://growthday.com/podcasts Go to GreenChef.com/lisa50 and use code lisa50 to get 50% off plus free shipping.
