On this week's Stansberry Investor Hour, Dan and Corey welcome Aaron Edelheit back to the show. Aaron is the founder and CEO of private investment firm Mindset Capital. He joins the podcast to talk about his investing philosophy... the importance of relieving mental stress... and all things cannabis – from its "great replacement" of alcohol to its legalization in more and more states. Aaron begins with a story about how he received advice from the legendary Charlie Munger on the "price of admission" of being an investor. He explains that this advice made him reflect on his own strengths and realize that he wanted to exclusively do long-term investing rather than trading. This leads to a conversation about investor psychology and mental strain. Aaron shares a few tips for relieving the anxiety surrounding investing, from turning off your phone and computer one day a week to doing hot yoga. (1:37) Next, Aaron talks a bit about his investing background, his career path, and how he finds opportunities where others aren't looking. Today, he believes the big opportunity is in cannabis stocks. He explains that certain names in this industry are breaking out despite the lack of federal reform. Aaron also drops a non-cannabis name that he's interested in and gives an alternative perspective on value stocks. (22:44) Finally, Aaron compares today's investing landscape with that of the 1990s. He shares that there's much more financing of private companies today, which stops them from going public for longer (if at all). After, Aaron makes his case for cannabis stocks. He believes that they will eventually steal market share from drug companies and alcohol producers once more people realize the benefits and switch over. (40:54)

My guest this week is Adam Terry, the co-founder and CEO of Cantrip. A few weeks ago, Aaron Edelheit came on the show and made the pitch for investing in Cannabis Beverages. Today, we talk to one of the leading operators in this space. This was a fun conversation where we really got into the weeds, pun intended, into the science of a very complicated plant and an equally complex regulatory landscape. We also talked about the vision for Cantrip and how Adam aims to build a defensible and valuable business. Please enjoy this conversation with Adam Terry. My guest today is Aaron Edelheit, the CEO and Portfolio Manager at Mindset Capital. Aaron has spent his career practicing value investing in overlooked industries, like housing after the 2008 recession or Cannabis today. But we start the conversation by talking about another overlooked topic- burnout and the importance of disengaging from work. We then talk about the Cannabis industry, the myths and opportunities, and why Aaron raised a venture fund to invest in Cannabis beverages. This is a timely conversation, recorded just ahead of the news that the DEA will reschedule Cannabis, providing a massive boost to the industry, particularly around taxation. Please enjoy this conversation with Aaron Edelheit. I hope you guys enjoy my podcast with Aaron Edelheit on the Cannabis industry. I had Aaron on the podcast two years ago to dive deep into the cannabis space. Since then, the industry has done nothing but incinerate investor capital. And that's precisely why I wanted to interview Aaron. I love his transparency, humility, and ability to objectively assess where/what he got wrong, and how he plans on fixing his cannabis investing process in 2024. Thanks again to Aaron for coming back on the show. I had a blast! Finally, a big thanks to the following sponsors for making the podcast a reality. Question or CommentCannabis may already be a 100 billion dollar-a-year industry, even with the patchwork state-by-state legalization in the U.S. right now. The "green rush" is on, people want to claim their fortunes and legal states are encouraging everyone to climb aboard. Aspiring entrepreneurs need startup capital to get in the door and laws are changing by the year, with massive upheaval expected when federal decriminalization is finally realized. Is the current legal cannabis landscape in the U.S. setting up thousands of people for failure? That possibility is pondered by cannabis investor and author, Aaron Edelheit, who deeply studied the legal cannabis landscape in the U.S. In this episode, he shares his insights into why he thinks we're focusing on building up the wrong cannabis businesses and where he believes the real opportunity of this green rush lies. For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Aaron Edelheit, Author of “The Hard Break: The Case for the 24/6 Lifestyle” and CEO of Mindset Capital. While most of the MicroCap space has had a rough year in 2022, I'd argue that two sectors that have particularly had it rough are Mining and Psychedelics (which we talked about in Episode 239 with Fadi Diab). Probably the sector, however, that has received, not only the least amount of "love" so to speak, it's being completely forgotten about and not mentioned at all - Cannabis! I've heard Aaron on multiple podcasts talking about the opportunities in Cannabis, and rather than doing a "Cannabis Investing 101" pod, we wanted to talk about why capital has dried up for the cannabis industry (for now), why brokerage houses have made it extremely difficult to buy cannabis stocks, and most importantly the headwinds that have caused this "Cannabis Winter." Don't worry Cannabis enthusiasts, we do also cover what catalysts could result in a rebound for the cannabis industry. Bill invited Aaron to stop by The Business Brew to have some fun and do a 4/20 episode. While the conversation does touch on cannabis, the more important parts of the conversation involve Aaron's philosophy of work life balance. Aaron is a strong advocate of the 24/6 workweek. He is a staunch advocate of observing a work sabbath weekly. We hope there is wisdom and entertainment in this episode. Aaron's bio is as follows: Aaron M. Edelheit is the CEO and Founder of Mindset Capital, a private investment firm. Aaron also was the Chief Strategy Officer of FLO Technologies, after being one of the first investors in the company, helping the company grow from a pre-revenue startup to raising $28 million and launching in over 500 Home Depot stores. FLO was acquired in January of 2020 by Fortune Brands. In his previous role as CEO of The American Home, Aaron founded and grew a company from 16 rental homes to one that owned 2,500 single family rental homes and was sold in April 2015 to a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust. Aaron also founded and ran a successful money management firm, Sabre Value Management from 1998 to 2011. In 2018, IdeaPress published Aaron’s first book, The Hard Break: The Case for a 24/6 Lifestyle. The book makes the case for taking one day off from work, email and smartphones for a more productive, healthier and more creative life. Dan opens this week's show ranting about good thinking versus bad thinking. And then he goes off on a listener who emailed in with some bad thinking. Then on this week's interview, Dan welcomes guest Aaron Edelheit on to the show. Aaron is an author, value investor, and the CEO and Founder of Mindset Capital. Aaron is a repeat guest to the podcast who has been featured and quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Bloomberg, CNBC, among many others. During the interview, Aaron does a deep dive into one of his favorite value stocks that has been beaten down for several years. It's a household name that everyone has heard of, it has a massive base of millions of engaged users, and dozens of ways to monetize that base going forward. Could a new incoming management team be all it takes to send this stock soaring? And finally on the mailbag, several listeners have questions about alternatives to Bitcoin or possible Bitcoin copycats. Dan reads a response from Eric Wade, Stansberry's biggest crypto expert, to help address these concerns. Plus, one physician writes in to tell Dan that he cringes every time Dan talks about coronavirus. Listen to Dan's response here on this week's episode.

Do you know how many times the average person touches their phone in a day? 2,617 times. A day! The American Psychological Association calls these people “constant checkers.” Is that you? Are you of the “rise and grind” mindset, day in and day out? If so, you’d better listen up. Aaron Edelheit is on the show today to share why we need a hard break in our lives each week. And he’ll be the first to tell you, he didn’t come up with the idea—it’s biblical, a Sabbath. The CEO and Founder of Mindset Capital, a private investment firm, Aaron is also the author of “The Hard Break: The Case for a 24/6 Lifestyle.” In it, he makes the case for taking one day a week off from work, email and our phones for a more productive, healthier and creative life. Doing so vastly changed his own life for the better, and so he’s out to share why we need a hard break, the benefits taking a Sabbath can have and the simple steps to doing so. We live in a world where it’s possible to work ourselves 24/7. Even when you’re away from the office, work still follows you on your smartphone. Being constantly connected can make us feel like we’re getting a lot done, but my guest today makes the case that we’d all be better off if we practiced the ancient tradition of the Sabbath. His name Aaron Edelheit and he’s the author of the book The Hard Break: The Case for a 24/6 Lifestyle. We begin our show discussing the burnout Aaron experienced as an entrepreneur working non-stop, how he rediscovered the Jewish tradition of the Sabbath, and how it changed his life and even helped him sell his business for over 200 million dollars. Along the way, we explore America’s workaholism and how it’s making us miserable and less productive, and costing businesses money. Aaron then digs into how you can start implementing a Sabbath practice regardless of your beliefs, and the benefits that accrue to your life, your health, your creativity, and even your bottom line when you take a weekly reset. It's been a huge week for the auto industry, with developments rippling beyond Volkswagen's $50 billion push into Tesla's territory of electronic vehicles. Dan unpacks the decision by Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, jaguar, Land Rover, and Mini to boycott the Detroit Auto Show, and concludes it marks a permanent shift in the industry. “The way we buy everything is changing.” And on the heels of a podcast episode that examined why Tesla is truly vulnerable to competitors, Dan breaks down Volkswagen's decision to build an $800 million electric vehicle factory in Tennessee, part of its plan to pour $50 billion into electric vehicle production by 2023. Then, with Eddie Lampert's eleventh hour deal to save Sears finally on the books, Dan muses on the wave of creative destruction hitting retail right now – and the sector's latest victim, poised to close 900 stores nationwide. He then introduces this week's podcast guest, Aaron Edelheit. Aaron is the CEO and Founder of Mindset Capital, a private investment firm. After being of their first investors, Aaron was also the Chief Strategy Officer of FLO Technologies and helped the company grow from a pre-revenue startup to raising $28 million and launching in over 500 Home Depot stores. Aaron also founded and ran a successful money management firm, Sabre Value Management from 1998 to 2011. Released last year, his first book, The Hard Break: The Case for a 24/6 Lifestyle makes the case for taking one day a week off from work, email and smartphones for a more productive, healthier and more creative life.

We are living in an era of unprecedented crisis, resulting in widespread feelings of fear, despair, and grief. Now, more than ever, maintaining hope for the future is a monumental task. Intrinsic Hope: Living Courageously in Troubled Times by Kate Davies, M.A.D., offers a powerful antidote to these feelings. Kate Davies has worked with numerous nongovernmental and governmental organizations on environmental issues, including Greenpeace, and is currently core faculty at Antioch University Seattle’s Center for Creative Change and Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington. Are you trapped in wage slavery at a dead end job, not knowing how to channel your talents to your real life’s purpose? In Work That Matters: Create a Livelihood that Reflects Your Core Intention, life coach Maia Duerr shares her “6 Keys to Liberation-Based Live-lihood to point you in a positive direction towards breaking that glass ceiling. Maia is a writer, organizational consultant, and coach for people going through life and career transitions, drawing years of Zen meditation practice and training in anthropology to create powerful tools for integrating mindfulness into the workplace and home life. Aaron Edelheit used to work so hard, it nearly killed him. In The Hard Break: The Case for a 24/6 Lifestyle, he breaks down the myths around productivity, revealing how taking a one day “hard break each week to reset can be a life-changing experience, and shares the seven steps to a successful Sabbath. Aaron is the Chief Strategy Officer for FLO Technologies. He is the founder of Mindset Capital, a private investment firm, and serves on the board of Moishe House Foundation, also partnering with Social Venture Partners in Santa Barbara working on homelessness.
What if the real secret to greater productivity, happiness and success is a habit that is thousands of years old? Productivity has become an international obsession. We celebrate a work culture where people boast of long working hours, their extreme schedules and how little they sleep. A constant stream of emails, texts, tweets and more keeps us connected every minute and we rarely put our phones down. Every moment needs to be maximized and no time can be wasted. And yet most of us also feel something is wrong. All of these attempts at optimizing business and life aren't really making us happier. Ironically, it might not be making us all that productive either. In this groundbreaking book, noted entrepreneur and money manager Aaron Edelheit breaks down the myths around productivity and offers a startlingly simple solution: the Sabbath. Aaron M. Edelheit is the Chief Strategy Officer of FLO Technologies. Since selling his company, The American Home in 2015, Aaron founded Mindset Capital, a private investment firm.
