This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.theflyingfrisby.comI don't mean to get all bearish on you.Bearish copy - it's all going down, it's going to crash - gets more eyeballs than “everything's fine”. Bearish commentators usually have bigger followings. Bad news sells. But bears are usually wrong. They've predicted 13 of the last two corrections. The fact is, as human beings progress and economies grow, markets tend to rise. This is doubly so when the underlying unit of account - the pound, the euro, the dollar - is being systematically debased. (Which makes the underperformance of the FTSE these last 25 years even more incredible by the way). Stock markets, especially in the US, have become places to park capital, where you can reduce erosion by inflation. So that's my disclaimer out of the way.I'm feeling bearishWe'll start with bitcoin. It's a leading indicator for the Nasdaq and tech. It's sold off - from $125,000 in early October to $90,000 a coin on Monday. Remember: I targeted $90,000 a coin a few weeks back. The crypto summer was muted, so we can expect this crypto winter to be similarly muted - no 90% corrections in other words. But we are almost 30% down already.Strip out the noise and HODL is my advice. That's what I'm doing. There has been no better investment strategy over the last 15 years and I'm sticking with it. But a crypto winter is upon us, it seems. Let's hope it's a mild one. Here's the chart. Look at the 50 day moving average in red. This is the third time in since 2024 that we have been in this situation. One correction lasted most of 2024 - well, March to October - the other took up the first five months of this year. They passed. Also worth noting is how each correction seems to have three spikes down - three drives to the bottom. This time around we have only had one, so maybe a couple more to go. That is not a prediction by the way: just an observation. The corrections in gold and silver have been more muted. But I have to say the silver chart concerns me. Double top or what?I thought the October correction would go deeper than it did, but it held up at the 50 day moving average (red line). That's a sign of strength. This rebound rally, dead cat bounce - whatever you want to call it - has taken us right back to the old highs, while gold and the S&P500 both made lower highs. That is also a sign of relative strength. But the second high was not confirmed by the silver miners, that is not good. And now we have a double top on our hands, until we don't.I would think we have one more leg down to get through plus some sideways consolidation to digest the gains of earlier this year. Here is gold, FYI, which has conspicuously made a lower high. This one might want to go into the $3 thousands for a bit.The stock market has this ridiculous Nvidia situation to get through. $4.4 trillion market cap - and that's after the recent pullback. 40 stocks account for something like 60% of the market cap of the five hundred stocks in the S&P. It needs to rebalance, otherwise it's an index of 40 stocks with 460 hangers-on. Corrections are how these things happen. So I am feeling über cautious. There is nothing wrong with having cash in times like this - it means you can buy stuff. On the other hand, the year end rally is approaching - so maybe we should just stay long. As with bitcoin, the way to play the stock market since 2009 when the S&P500 reached 666 - it is ten times that today! - has been simply to hold on through. With so many conflicting messages, it's hard to know what to do. Dolce Far Niente … Italian for HODL.With all that in mind, I want to just skim through some of my speculative positions and give you my latest opinion on them. we are going to look at Metals Exploration (MTL.L), Comstock (LODE.NYSE), Lightbridge (LTBR), Minera Alamos (MAI.V) and more. Time to sell? Time to buy more?Let's see. A review of the speculative portfolioWe'll start with Metals Exploration (MTL.L), my largest position.

Wall St saw a pullback to open this week, with the losses once again lead by the recently struggling tech sector. The Dow Jones lost 1.2%, the S&P500 dropped 1% while the Nasdaq slipped 0.9%. Nvidia was a big factor weighing down the market, dropping 3% ahead of its Q3 results which are scheduled for Thursday morning Sydney time, as investors remain anxious about stretched evaluations. The results are expected to shape the trajectory of the entire sector for the next few weeks. In other overseas markets, Europe and Asia saw similar results to the US, with a sea of red across all the major indexes, including the European Stoxx600, Chinese CSI and Hong Kong's Hang Seng which all dropped over half a percent.Locally yesterday, the ASX technically did buck the global trend and close in the green, although it was only 1.9 points or 0.02% up. This result did however ensure that the ASX avoided what would have been its longest losing streak since June, had it closed down again. What to watch today:Today however, the ASX is expected to follow the slip we saw abroad overnight, with the SPI futures indicating a 0.6% drop at the open. Crude Oil is trading down 0.64% at 59 USD and 71 cents per barrelPrecious metals have also seen similar drops, with gold down 1% to 4042USD per ounce, and silver down 0.76% to 50USD per ounce. Iron ore is trading up 0.45% at 104.42USD per tonne. Trading ideas:Bell Potter has maintained its Buy rating on agricultural chemicals supplier Elders (ASX:ELD) with a 12-month price target of $9.45, after the company reported strong results and positive guidance for FY26. And Trading Central have identified a Bearish signal in Aussie Broadband Ltd (ASX:ABB), indicating that the price may fall from the close of $5.51 to the range of $4.80 to $4.95 over a period of 60 days, according to the standard principles of technical analysis.

Zooming out to its 1-year chart, Rachel points to a bearish engulfing pattern after shares hit all-time highs continuing to break lower.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – / schwabnetwork Follow us on Facebook – / schwabnetwork Follow us on LinkedIn - / schwab-network About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about

From the roots to the leaves to the seeds, Wisconsin soybeans are American made. And that’s exactly what Wisconsin United Soybean Board (USB) Director Tony Mellenthin was emphasizing that when a Korean trade team visited his farm recently. Jill Welke talks with him about the sustainability message he shared, as well as the technology piece that's critical in today's farming operation. “I hope that their No. 1 takeaway is that they have confidence knowing that when they buy U.S. soybeans, they’re buying not only the highest quality soybeans but the highest quality soybeans that are produced in the most sustainable manner,” said Mellenthin, who farms near Eau Galle. A little fog to start the day, but a beauty after that. Stu Muck is optimistic that the heat will return for a pretty nice weekend too. Dr. Jay Makovec, part owner at Belleville Chiropractic and Wellness Center, grew up on his family's farm in Muscoda. He understands, firsthand, the hard work and dedication farmers pour into their livelihoods. When your body's check engine light comes on and slows down farmwork, he helps get you back on track. Dr. Jay walks Kiley Allan through common pain points farmers experience, when they should seek medical help and what they can expect from treatment. Wisconsin Beef Council, in cooperation with Gather Wisconsin, is promoting a new tool to guide consumers to prime rib restaurants around the state. Pam Jahnke explains the "Prime Rib Trail" mapping guide and how consumers can use it. Dairy is starting to feel very bearish. That's the vibe that Ryan Yonkman, vice president of EverAg, is getting these days. With global production increasing and overall demand not yet appearing - it's sending ripples through the market taking prices lower. He explains some strategies dairies should keep in mind, and what could yet happen with seasonal demand. He's a guest with Pam Jahnke.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
