Today, can't help but turn more bearish on equities as the US trade policy issue finally adds some more bite and as the broader concern on the trajectory of the US economy may be picking up here. The US dollar is certainly headed south versus the euro again, and USDJPY is making a show of selling off - can the move stick this time? Thoughts on the Fed possibly cutting earlier than expected, Oracle blowout earnings and much more. Today's pod hosted by Saxo Global Head of Macro Strategy John J. Hardy. Gold is holding steady, but silver is shining with a 13-year high on strong industrial demand and supply deficits. Scott Bauer sees the gold-to-silver ratio narrowing, making silver a buy. In oil, a bearish forecast from S&P Global Commodity Insights predicts prices could fall below $50 a barrel due to OPEC supply, but Bauer isn't ruling it out. Bitcoin, however, is defying gravity, nearing its record high on bullish forecasts and institutional buying.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. The amount of energy Meta Platforms (META) will buy from Constellation Energy (CEG) in its new deal can power a million homes, says Travis Miller. While the deal is huge when it comes to power production, Travis says there's too many unknowns in how huge it will be for either company's top line. That uncertainty reflected in Constellation's stock price today. Travis explains his bearish perspective on Constellation and similar companies like Vistra (VST) and NRG Energy (NRG).======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Jenny Horne believes Marvell (MRVL) overall had a "pretty good report" that didn't completely wash away investor hesitation. She says the company's custom silicon business and offloading of its auto business are positives, though Jenny sees future expenses being an issue for investors. As for Costco (COST), the big box retailer traded lower after earnings. Jenny notes Costco handling tariffs in a positive way and exemplary customer loyalty as strong tailwinds. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about

Oil prices remained stable last week despite significant news, with Brent holding around $65/b amid OPEC+ discussions and Trump's comments on EU trade. Bearish factors may lead to further declines if trade talks falter. Meanwhile, gas and power prices in Europe have risen due to maintenance outages in Norway, pushing winter gas futures to their highest levels since early April. Today, we ask whether too many have gotten too bearish on US treasuries, the one asset nearly everyone agrees no on should own. If so, US treasuries could be in for quite a painful squeeze ahead of a long US holiday weekend that would inevitably have interesting repercussions across markets, not least for the US dollar and gold. Scott Bauer breaks down the markets beyond stocks. He weighs in on the dollar's (/DX) recent weakness in the wake of the Moody's downgrade, but notes the relatively muted response across other asset classes. Meanwhile, gold (/GC) is higher due in part to its oversold condition and the ongoing safe-haven bid. Turning to Bitcoin (/BTC), he believes the cryptocurrency is set to break all-time highs, driven by growing risk appetite and acceptance. In commodities, Scott is bearish on crude oil (/CL), citing a lack of demand and potentially higher OPEC production.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about

S&P futures and TSX are pointing down. US 2-year yield stays at 3.8% and 10-year yield climbing 4 bps to 4.4%. Gold settles up 2% and WTI Crude down 1.6%. Treasuries were weaker with some curve steepening, dollar index was little changed. Asia markets are mixed today. More scrutiny is on waning US exceptionalism symbolized by dollar's ongoing retreat. Bearish dollar narrative is broadening beyond tariffs to concerns about Fed's independence. Tariff headline volatility continued as President Trump on Truth Social listed eight categories that would qualify as non-tariff barriers. Japan markets are particularly sensitive to currency manipulation which was at the top of the list. Yen strengthened to a seven-month high amid growing expectations the topic will come up during the meeting between Finance Minister Kato and Treasury Secretary Bessent on the side-lines of this week's Washington G20 meeting of finance minister and central bank governors.Companies mentioned: Tesla, Alphabet, Ford Motor

The Asbury 6 is a measurement of various market metrics, including S&P 500 rate of change, volatility, trading volume, and market breadth. 5 out of the 6 are negative right now, with the S&P 500 rate of change the only one in the green. Most of the metrics have changed over during April. Jordan Rizzuto warns that the longer tariffs stay in place, the closer to stagflation the markets get. He also says they complicate the Fed's ability to make rate cut decisions. He talks about different factors that could be hurting the U.S. dollar, including concerns about fiscal deficit and other countries diversifying away from U.S. assets and debt. He compares the relationship between copper and gold, and says it's turned “bearish.”======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – / schwabnetwork Follow us on Facebook – / schwabnetwork Follow us on LinkedIn - / schwab-network About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about
