In this episode, Ace Enders sits in to discuss the creation of The Early November's fan-favorite single, "Decoration." Hailing from their ambitious 2006 triple disc concept album, The Mother, The Mechanic, And The Path, "Decoration" captures a raw, vintage essence that resonates with listeners. Ace shares insights into the writing and recording process, shedding light on how the song's poignant narrative addresses the anguish of feeling exploited by someone solely focused on financial gain. Despite its simple, one-word chorus, Ace masterfully evokes profound emotion, making "Decoration" a timeless anthem. This deep dive into one of The Early November's most beloved tracks is not to be missed. We had the pleasure of interviewing Stage Moms over Zoom video! Stage Moms is an aggressive pop-punk band drawing influences from early 2010’s pop punk revival bands such as Crucial Dudes, The Wonder Years, and Four Year Strong. Formed in late 2019 after singer Gage Vota and guitarist’s Grayson Prince previous band Down They Fall decided to call it quits, the band released their first EP “Long Drives and Late Nights.” The Moundsville, West Virginia-based act has honed in on a sound that combines modern-day pop-punk, punk, and hardcore all into one cohesive thought that provides a platform for Gage Vota to deliver his personal yet relatable lyrics that touch on subjects such as depression and failure. In September 2020, Stage Moms headed into The Lumberyard Recording Studio with Nik Bruzzese of Man Overboard and Ace Enders of The Early November, to record their sophomore EP "Almost Heaven...Feels Like Hell", which is out now! Throughout his long and accomplished career, Ace Enders has put his musical mark on many projects, including Drive Thru Records emo favorites The Early November and the folky side project I Can Make a Mess. He's also an accomplished producer and songwriter, helming projects for the likes of Aaron West & the Roaring Twenties, a side project/character study of The Wonder Years' Dan Campbell. With so many parts of his musical life working in concert, Ace is the perfect guest for the show. I caught up with him to talk about The Early November's beginnings, how songwriting has changed for him over time and why you won't ever hear the phrase "turnt up" in an Early November song. This is a rough episode since it was my first podcast and I am not used to the cheap recording equipment I just got at home instead of my university's fancy schmancy ProTools, better mics and pop filters. It also got cut off at the end and had some distortion, but this is a lesson learned for episode 2! Want more information on the Ace Enders tour? www.myspace.com/aceendersandamilliondifferentpeople. Happy Native American Heritage Day, and welcome to the party! We have an incredible one for this phenomenal day to be alive! I give you Matt Rosa. An expert in the financial marketing industry and entrepreneur, Matt built his empire from a place of abject poverty. Quitting school in order to fend for his siblings, Matt held jobs from fast food to massage therapy, with a bevy of vocations in between. Tiring of generating wealth for corporations with nothing but a scant pay check to show for it, he struck out with his business partner, taking the marketing sphere by storm. In doing so, he'd forgone his first place of grace, Punk Rock... You see, that's the kernel I'd left unpopped. Matt grew up going to Punk shows, and playing guitar at home. You see, in order to build his dreams and accomplish financial independence, he'd forgone writing and performing. This is the itch gone unscratched. Well, no more. Matt, with the help of The Early November wunderkind Ace Enders, he put together the album "Times Have Changed, And So Have I" in 2021. After having toured with the likes of The Early November and Vinnie Caruana (The MovieLife, I Am The Avalanche, Constant Elevation, Peace'd Out), Matt has redoubled his focus on creating melodic Pop Punk with a symphonic edge and a Motown flavored vocal delivery that is velvety smooth and deeply powerful. You can check out his new single, "Trust Issues", available right now on all streaming platforms.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-book-of-very-very-bad-things/exclusive-content
