Steel Train was an indie rock band from New Jersey. They met in the mid-1990s at The Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County, New Jersey. Before the band existed, Jack Antonoff and Daniel Silbert were part of the hardcore band Outline and Evan Winiker and Matt Goldman were in the punk band Random Task. After the dissolution of these bands, Steel Train formed in 2002. The band soon signed to Drive Thru Records. they disbanded in 2013 and you probably have heard about what Jack has been up to these days. I got Evan on the Skype and this is what we chat about: Joining Range Media Growing up in the Jersey scene The Juliana Theory Story Starting Steel Train Being the black sheep of Drive Thru Records The Finch show Playing Coachella with FUN Brace Face Zine Their video at the Teaneck Legion Hall Is there a reunion on the Horizon And a ton more Feel free to support the podcast for as little as $1 a month through Patreon

On this week's episode, Cassadee Pope takes us and her fans on a journey through her career, from forming Hey Monday to winning Season 3 of The Voice and transitioning back into the pop-punk world with her latest single, "People That I Love Leave."Pope starts by reflecting on the very beginnings of her career, from forming Hey Monday to the band landing a record deal. She also shares a fun tidbit about how she ended up on a development deal with Richard Reines from Drive-Thru Records. As the only girl on tour, Pope discusses how hard it was and how she, as she got older, had to unlearn a lot of misogynistic things she learned on tour when, at the time, she thought were normal ways of thinking. She also talks about the importance of mental health while on the road and her hope to start an initiative to get therapists and counselors on the road with bands to help members cope with the struggles of life on the road.Pope also talks about her decision to go on The Voice after the Hey Monday split, explaining that it was out of desperation. She shares why she chose a career in country music after winning the show and making a name for herself in the pop-punk/emo scene. She also explains why she chose Blake Shelton as her coach and broke down what a typical week on The Voice is like revealing that it's brutal non-stop work.Looking back on her country music career, Pope reflects on her fondest memories but also shares the reasoning behind her decision to go independent and break away from a big label due to some cited toxicity and creative differences.Pope then talks about her decision to transition back into the pop-punk world and her new approach to writing pop-punk songs while bringing over that lyrical style of storytelling to which her country music fans are accustomed to. She also shares the meaning behind her new pop-punk single "People That I Love Leave" and her plan to release her upcoming album with a re-recording of one old song but with a pop-punk twist. Finally, Pope answers some fan-submitted questions, including her favorite lyric from the upcoming album, her first pop-punk album that sold her on the genre, and her ideal tourmates.Overall, Cassadee Pope's interview on The All Punked Up Podcast is a candid and insightful look into her career and personal life. Her dedication to mental health and her desire to help others on the road is inspiring, and her new direction in pop-punk is sure to excite both old and new fans alike. This week, John and Tyler debate over whether or not it's ok to wear a band's t-shirt when going to one of their concerts. Going in, they knew they lived on different sides of the aisle when it comes to this topic, so trying to convince each other was not easy. But before that, they take the time to review some new tunes released this week, as well as discuss some old Drive-Thru Records bands doing some teasing that they need to fill you in on.Support the showSign-up for our weekly newsletter!http://allpunkedup.com/subscribe Are you a fan of the scene and want to be a guest on the pod? Yo! The new era of The All Punked Up Podcast has arrived! What does that mean? It means we have a new co-host as Bailey is on hiatus. John Pearman is that new co-host. You may remember him from the episode we did where Tyler brought his former bandmates on to discuss the one time they drove all the way out to LA from the Midwest to get signed by Drive-Thru Records. But this week, we aren't here to talk about the old band. We're here to talk about Spotify having a porn problem. Yes, porn. And if Spotify wants to embrace this new venture, John's got a few names Spotify can think about changing its name to. Also, TikTok may end up becoming the next big music streaming app. And once again we bring up the blink-182/Tom DeLonge reunion rumors as they heated up again this week with new information.Sign-up for our weekly newsletter!http://allpunkedup.com/subscribe Please consider rating and reviewing this podcast. After a four-week break, we're baaaack! This week, Tyler and Bailey discuss the recent Drive-Thru Records announcement. Spoiler alert: they were correct in their speculations from the episode prior. But they wonder if there is more. Additionally, they talk about a recent ruling in favor of Ed Sheeran NOT plagiarising a song, how the ones doing the suing got the shit end of the stick on this one, and what this could mean for future artists suing over plagiarism. And speaking of shit, there's one artist who loves to use his shitter as lyrical inspiration. Rx Bandits are an American four-piece band from California. The band formed in 1995 in Orange County, California. They have appeared on the Vans Warped Tour, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Bamboozle, and plenty of club shows throughout the world I think. In 2001, after touring on their third album "Progress", Rich left the band, citing frustrations he had with certain aspects of the music industry. He later went to form The Sound of Animals Fighting. They released a trilogy of records between 2004 and 2008, and performed only four live shows, following their second release in 2006. The band's live lineup consisted of 12 different musicians and they often employed the use of animal masks to conceal their identity. Rich slid into my DMs on IG a while back after he found the Donuts N' Glory interview (Episode 114) and we've been chatting about old scene stuff since then. I wanted to find out about his days in RX Bandits and The Sound of Animals Fighting, so I asked him onto the podcast, he said yes, and this is what we chat about: Donuts N Glory Flyers How The Sound of Animals Fighting got their sound Shame about the masks No Knife Nick from Link 80 writing him a letter The ska band shame Rejection letter from Mike Park How they got on Drive Thru Fenix TX The Gadjets Finch Being on the Bloodhound Gang's CD And a ton more Go buy his Revolution on Canvas books and check out all of the music he's created by clicking on the links in the show notes. We welcome one of America's most unique musical Trailblazers, Andy Frasco to the show. A creative powerhouse known for his outstanding live performances leading his band 'Andy Frasco & The U.N', Andy is celebrating the critically acclaimed new LP Wash, Rinse, Repeat (OUT NOW), a 12 songs that span Frasco's experience as a musician — and a man and was Produced by Chris Carraba (Dashboard Confessional), Nathaniel Motte (3oh!3), Kenny Carkeet (AWOLNATION), Eric Krasno (Ledisi, Tedeschi Trucks Band), Rick Parker, and Justin Osborne (Susto). Born and raised in California, Andy Frasco's first exposure to the music industry came not onstage, but rather in an office. As a young teenager, he worked with legendary indie label Drive-Thru Records and helped book bands like Hello Goodbye, and by the time he turned 18, he'd already moved to New York City for a gig with Atlantic Records. When the job fell through, though, Frasco made a leap of faith and decided to launch his own career as an artist, taking everything he'd learned working with other bands and applying it to himself Join us as Andy shares with Jamie the secrets to a high 'peak' state, the ability for efficient musical output, the breaking point in mastering his thoughts and lots more. On today's episode, I do a deep dive on Dashboard Confessional's second official full-length album "The Place You Have Come to Fear the Most". The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most is the second studio album recorded by the American emo band Dashboard Confessional, released on March 20, 2001, through Vagrant Records. Dashboard Confessional started as an acoustic side project for vocalist/guitarist Chris Carrabba while he was fronting Further Seems Forever. The project's first album The Swiss Army Romance was released in early 2000 through local independent label Fiddler Records. Using his connections within the punk scene, Carrabba was able to perform on a few tours. Though the audience wasn't used to acoustic instrumentation, Carrabba won the crowds over. Eventually demand for the album was exceeding the label's supply, which resulted in owner Amy Fleisher licensing the record to Drive-Thru Records. In October, Carrabba announced his departure from Further Seems Forever. LET'S CONNECT: Kyle's Instagram Kyle's Facebook Email: Kyledevlinfitness@gmail.com
