The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (04/25/2024): 3:05pm- On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument in Trump v. United States—a case which will determine the extent of presidential immunity. In one notable exchange with Justice Department Counsel Michael Dreeben, Justice Brett Kavanaugh asked if, hypothetically, former President Barack Obama could be prosecuted for his administration's use of drone strikes against U.S. citizens in foreign countries. Justice Clarence Thomas also questioned if previous presidents, like John F. Kennedy who authorized Operation Mongoose which resulted in Cuban civilians being killed, could be criminally prosecuted after leaving office. 3:30pm- During oral argument in Trump v. United States, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor asked Donald Trump's attorney D. John Sauer if the president could, under Sauer's argument, “assassinate” a political rival with complete immunity? 3:40pm- Robert Bork Jr.—President of the Antitrust Education Project & President of the Bork Communication Group—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to breakdown what he heard during oral argument in the Supreme Court case Trump v. United States, which will determine the extent of presidential immunity. His assessment is that Donald Trump's attorney D. John Sauer “got the better of the argument today.” Plus, Bork discusses the Federal Trade Commission and Chair Lina Khan invalidating tens-of-millions of employment contracts. You can learn more about the Antitrust Education Project here: https://www.antitrusteducationproject.org/about-aep/ 4:05pm- Charlie Savage and Alan Feuer of The New York Times write of oral argument in Trump v. United States: “Although Mr. Trump's claim of near-absolute immunity was seen as a long shot intended primarily to slow the proceedings, several members of the Republican-appointed majority seemed to indicate that some immunity was needed… Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. criticized an appeals court ruling rejecting immunity for Mr. Trump, saying he was concerned that it ‘did not get into a focused consideration of what acts we are talking about or what documents are talking about.'” You can read their full takeaway here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/04/25/us/trump-immunity-supreme-court/supreme-court-trump-immunity-takeaways?smid=url-share 4:20pm- Listeners call-in and react to the arguments presented by Trump's legal team and the Department of Justice in Trump v. United States. 4:40pm- During oral argument in Trump v. United States, Justice Samuel Alito asked Justice Department Counselor Michael Dreeben if presidential immunity is limited by the court, could presidents prosecute their political rivals once those rivals leave office? And, if so, wouldn't that quickly become a threat to the maintenance of a stable democracy? 5:05pm- On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument in Trump v. United States—a case which will determine the extent of presidential immunity. At one point, Justice Samuel Alito questioned whether former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt could have been, hypothetically, prosecuted for his decision to intern Japanese-American citizens—depriving them of their inherent, constitutionally protected rights—during World War II. In another notable moment, Justice Brett Kavanaugh asked Justice Department Counsel Michael Dreeben if former President Barack Obama could be prosecuted for his administration's use of drone strikes against U.S. citizens in foreign countries. 5:30pm- While briefly appearing on television, a New York City construction worker made clear he isn't a huge fan of President Joe Biden… 5:35pm- Jack Tomasello—of Tomasello Winery in Hammonton, New Jersey—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the 2024 Down & Derby Wine Fest on May 4th at Veterans Island on Cooper River Park from 2pm to 7pm! “Sample delicious wines from South Jersey's leading wine producers while immersing yourself in Derby themed fashion and festivities at The Fourth Annual Down And Derby Wine Festival presented by the Camden County Board of Commissioners and Visit South Jersey. On the version of Hot off the Wire posted Dec. 20 at 6:45 a.m. CT: DENVER (AP) — A divided Colorado Supreme Court is removing former President Donald Trump from the state's primary ballot, saying in a historic ruling that he is ineligible to be president after his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The ruling Tuesday marks the first time in history that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment has been used to disqualify a presidential candidate. Trump's campaign spokesman called it a “flawed decision” and said they will appeal it to the U.S. Supreme Court, which has never ruled on Section 3. The provision forbids those who “engaged in insurrection” from holding office and was used mainly after the Civil War to keep former Confederates out of government. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The White House and Mexico's president are sharply criticizing a new Texas law that would allow police to arrest migrants who illegally cross into the U.S. and empower local judges to order them to leave the country. Also Tuesday, civil rights groups and Texas' largest border county filed a lawsuit. It came less than 24 hours after Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed the law. The groups say it's an unconstitutional reach over the U.S. government's authority on immigration. Abbott said Tuesday that Texas is going to such dramatic lengths because of frustration over the Biden administration's immigration policies. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia television station says a news helicopter has crashed in a forest in New Jersey, killing both the pilot and photographer on board. WPVI-TV says a pilot and photographer from its news team were in the helicopter when it went down about 8 p.m. Tuesday in Wharton State Forest in Hammonton. The helicopter was returning from an assignment at the Jersey Shore when it crashed in the woods. The station says New Jersey State Police troopers were able to locate the crash site, which is difficult to access. The station says it's unclear what caused the crash. DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas' top leader is in Cairo for talks on the war in Gaza. Ismail Haniyeh's visit Wednesday is part of a flurry of diplomacy aimed at securing another cease-fire and hostage swap at a moment when the militant group is putting up stiff resistance to Israel's offensive. It comes a day after Hamas fired rockets that set off air raid sirens in central Israel. Israel has called on the rest of the world to blacklist Hamas as a terrorist organization, saying it must be eradicated in the wake of its Oct. 7 rampage across southern Israel that triggered the war. But the sides have recently relaunched indirect talks recently. A woman who bought a vase for $3.99 at a Virginia thrift store recently sold it for $107,000. Jessica Vincent said he bought it at a Goodwill outside Richmond and thought it would look nice in her house. But she soon learned the vase was extremely rare. It came from the Venetian island of Murano and was designed by the late architect Carlo Scarpa. The vase sold this month through Wright Auction House to a private European collector. Vincent plans to buy a new heating system in her farmhouse with the money. She is currently using two space heaters. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden has memorialized Justice Sandra Day O'Connor as a pioneer in the legal world who inspired generations of women. O'Connor was the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court. Chief Justice John Roberts joined Biden in speaking at Tuesday's services at Washington National Cathedral, calling her a "strong, influential and iconic jurist.” O'Connor was an Arizona native who served as an unwavering voice of moderate conservatism on the high court for more than two decades. The rancher's daughter was nominated in 1981 by President Ronald Reagan and came to wield considerable influence on the nine-member court. O'Connor retired at age 75 and died Dec. 1 in Phoenix. WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Former President Donald Trump is defending his comments about migrants crossing the southern border, who he had said are poisoning the blood of America. He said at a campaign rally in Waterloo, Iowa, on Tuesday that he had not read “Mein Kampf,” referencing Adolf Hitler's fascist manifesto. He reiterated his “blood” purity comments from over the weekend and said immigrants in the U.S. illegally are “destroying the blood of our country.” Trump has faced mounting criticism for his intensifying rhetoric as he seeks to make immigration policy a key piece of his second-term agenda. Experts have noted his language echoes writings from Hitler about the “purity” of Aryan blood, which underpinned Nazi Germany's systematic murder of millions of Jews. Ja Morant makes his season debut, Providence knocks off Marquette, Aaron Rodgers won't be returning to the Jets this season and the Rangers top the Maple Leafs. SEATTLE (AP) — Washington's Kalen DeBoer has been named The Associated Press coach of the year in college football. The Huskies are 13-0, won the Pac-12 championship and have a spot in the College Football Playoff in just DeBoer's second year in charge. The Huskies will face Texas in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 with a spot in the CFP championship game on the line. In DeBoer's two seasons, the Huskies are 24-2 overall. Mike Norvell of Florida State was second in voting and Missouri's Eli Drinkwitz was third. GRINDAVIK, Iceland (AP) — A volcano has erupted in southwestern Iceland with a flash of light into the evening sky in the land known for fire and ice. Iceland's Meteorological Office says the eruption appears to have occurred late Monday near the town of Grindavik. The town was evacuated in November after strong seismic activity damaged homes and raised fears of an imminent eruption. The volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula is southwest of the capital, Reykjavik. The eruption could last days and isn't expected to release ash into the air like another volcano did in 2010 that halted flights in Europe. There were no disruptions of flights to and from Iceland on Tuesday and international flight corridors remain open. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — An orange tabby cat named Taters stars in the first video sent by laser from deep space, stealing the show as he chases a red laser light. The 15-second ultra high-definition video was beamed to Earth from NASA's Psyche spacecraft, 19 million miles away. It took less than two minutes for the video to reach Earth, sent at the system's maximum bit rate. The video was loaded for the demo before Psyche blasted off to a metal-rich asteroid in October. Team members at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory decided to feature an employee's playful kitty in the video released this week. —The Associated Press About this program Host Terry Lipshetz is a senior producer for Lee Enterprises. We've heard that seeing is believing. But in the case of today's guest, Allison Gallagher, believing is seeing.  For years, Allison ran, what she thought was, a sustainable business. But as she continued to learn and level up after becoming a Mindshift member she says, “I was doing but not believing. My mindset didn't keep up with the growth.” Allison sits in the hot seat today and keeps it real with us as she continues to work on believing in the value she provides to clients. Allison is the portrait photographer behind Allisonanne Studios in Hammonton, New Jersey. She recently received a challenging question from a client that we can all relate to and is seeking some guidance on how to manage the situation. So the format of this episode is a little different and you are going to learn so much through our conversation. In this episode, you'll learn: How to step out of “convincing energy” through convincing yourself The value you provide to clients starts with you How to effectively communicate your value When it is best to say no to taking a client   Here's a glance at this episode: [03:16] - Allison has been in business for 16 years and describes what she specializes in. [04:15] - Recently a client has asked Allison for a generational session but only wants an 11x14. [05:54] - We get to decide what kind of business we're running. [07:44] - Generational sessions are more costly and with the amount of work involved, it probably isn't worth it for just a couple of framed photos. [09:31] - ATJ describes how she organizes and gets things in order during a pre-production phase of a generational session. [10:53] - The first thing out of a client's mouth isn't typically what they want. They say what they want based on what they know. [13:20] - A lot of times we feel defensive when we're asked a question, especially when it comes to cutting costs. [15:10] - When things change and we want to become defensive, we need to take a step back and have a conversation. [17:01] - Don't take on the things you don't see the value in or you know isn't the best for your clients. [19:43] - Clients are not problem aware. It is our job to educate them. [21:18] - ATJ gives a possible answer to Allison's client question. Do you really want to spend that much money on just an 8x10? [23:54] - Look at problems with the client focused mindset.  [26:20] - You have to believe that you are serving the client to the best of your ability and if what they want is not the best use of your value, you might have to say no. [27:41] - Our brains want to tell us all the reasons why a client would say no to something, but you can find the evidence that they'll say yes. [31:09] - We don't have to get the point of being beaten down to set boundaries and build the business you really want. [34:10] - Clients ask questions because they trust you. [36:18] - Allison admits that she feels like she doesn't add enough value for what she charges. But ATJ thinks she has the value but needs to communicate it. [38:44] - What is convincing energy and how can we change it by convincing ourselves? [43:09] - You weed out clients who don't want your service by simply communicating what you offer. [45:52] - Think about the ways you can make something work even when your brain is trying to show you negative evidence. [47:53] - If there is anything in your life you are not happy with, change is possible. It all starts and ends with our thoughts.   Links and Resources: Allison GallagherWebsite | Instagram Do The ReWorkWebsite | Instagram Allison Tyler JonesWebsite | Instagram | LinkedIn

Today, Anthony opens the show discussing the divisional round weekend ahead in the NFL playoffs, but most importantly, the Eagles vs. Giants on Saturday night, and the game plan for the Eagles heading into the game. Then Cuz brings in Andrew to get his opinion on everything (00:00-21:56). Next, the Cuz and Choonis go over their concerns for the Eagles going into their first postseason game, before going to the phones to talk to the city about the matchup (21:56-41:10). Next, the guys talk a little bit more about this weekend's Eagles' game before opening open up the vault to look back on old Eagles postseason moments, Muhammad Ali knocking out George Foreman in honor of his birthday, and Jeremy Roenick's overtime goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs to give the Flyers the victory in the 2004 playoffs (41:10-1:05:01). Then, Jeff McLane joins the show to breakdown the Eagles vs. Giants divisional round playoff game and key factors heading into this Saturday night's matchup between NFC East foes (1:05:01-1:24:52). The third hour of the show kickoffs with Anthony and Andrew going back to the phones, which invokes a debate between a troll Cowboys fan arguing that Camden is not part of the Philly area (1:24:52-1:51:36). Following talking to the city, the show tunes in Nick Sirianni press conference where he talks the status of the shoulder of Jalen Hurts and the preparation for the Giants game (1:51:36-2:09:48). The last hour of today's show starts with Anthony and Andrew listening into Jalen Hurts' press conference ahead of the second postseason game of his career (2:09:48-2:16:53). The show wraps up with the Cuz and Choonis talking to the city on the phone last time about the Eagles playoff game, including a call from the 4th grade class at Warren E. Sooy Elementary School in Hammonton, NJ, who did the Eagles fight song (2:16:53-end).

Full Hour | Today, Dom Giordano led off the Dom Giordano Program by discussing the media reporting on the horrific Uvalde, TX school shooting, offering his thoughts on Associated Press reporting about the police officers on the scene. In an article posted in the wake of the horrific situation, AP writers call into question the police response to the incident, alleging that police delayed stopping the incident and held back parents from involving themselves. Giordano questions why officers would do something like that, and plays back a clip of Fox News' Lawrence Jones, who explained how offensive the report is to those on the front lines, telling that some of the officers who have children that attend the very school they failed to protect are heartbroken. "Big Al" Szolack (born 1950) is a retired American basketball player best known for his time spent on the Washington Generals, the traveling exhibition team who plays against, and always loses to, the Harlem Globetrotters. He played for just the 1974–75 season, one in which the Generals lost all 245 contests. Szolack became a favorite among the Globetrotters and was selected as the "unwitting" participant in many of their pre-determined entertainment plays. Szolack was raised in Woodbury, New Jersey. He was described as "reed-thin" but was a "sniper" on the basketball court while playing for Woodbury High School, from which he graduated in 1968. His ability earned him all-conference and all-county honors, and Szolack then continued his career at Atlantic Cape Community College for two years. After community college, Szolack attended Glassboro State College (now called Rowan University), a then-NAIA school located in Glassboro, New Jersey. He was an integral player on the team, serving as one of their best substitutes off of the bench for head coach Jack Collins. In both seasons the team qualified for the national tournament. Szolack graduated from Glassboro State in the spring of 1973. Right after college, Szolack tried out for the Scranton Apollos in the Eastern Professional Basketball League, but he was the last cut and did not make the roster. He came upon the Washington Generals when he went to see the Globetrotters at the Spectrum in Philadelphia and obtained Red Klotz' phone number. Szolack spent the next year touring the world and playing against (losing to) the Globetrotters. They played seven days a week and sometimes played twice in a day. After his exhibition basketball career ended, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and became a bartender. Then, his 54-year-old mother—with whom he was very close—died from a heart attack. He began to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol, and even admitted later to using up to $1,000 worth of cocaine per day for a time. From ages 27 through 34, Szolack's life was in ruins. In an interview, he later admitted, "Drugs turned me into a thief, a liar, a cheat ... One day I found myself sitting in a corner, holding a shotgun. I lived the life of a vampire, peeking out windows for hours at a time. Sometimes I had only enough energy to get from the bed to the sofa. I was sick, very sick. I didn't live ... I existed." He now goes by the nickname Al "Hugs Not Drugs" Szolack and serves as an abuse awareness director at Hammonton High School in Hammonton, New Jersey. He is also a motivational speaker and runs an annual basketball camp which he calls "Big Al's Basketball Camp." Szolack travels across the United States giving speeches, many times at colleges and universities, and he is on the NCAA-approved speaker roster.

Using her extensive background in eCommerce as her guide, Effie mapped out a way for families to experience personalized funeral planning from the comfort of their homes.Although this interview was recorded last November, the topics still felt relevant and insightful to share, especially as Effie helped me think about grief from a different perspective than my usual emotions-first approach.  This conversation has also led to a nearly year-long exchange as different songs come to mind that relate to grief.
