What comes to mind when you think about air traffic control towers? Probably not how they can create opportunities for small businesses that make a positive impact in their communities. This episode of The Air Up There podcast examines how investments from The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) keep flights moving safely, people employed, and small businesses thriving. In this episode, we chat with Jeff Babbitt, a disabled veteran and owner of TJ&B Air Conditioning and Electric. His company recently received a contract funded by the BIL to replace the heating and cooling (HVAC) equipment at FAA's air traffic control tower in San Antonio, Texas. So, what's the big deal about HVAC replacement? Making bacon. Making Kevin Bacon. In this episode we play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon with random people sent in by our listeners. It's a weird one but we still like it.FURTHER DORKSCUSSION:(From Wikipedia) In a January 1994 interview, Kevin Bacon mentioned that "he had worked with everybody in Hollywood or someone who's worked with them." Later in 1994, three college students Craig Fass, Brian Turtle and Mike Ginelli - invented the game that became known as "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" after seeing two movies on television that featured Bacon back to back, Footloose and The Air Up There. During the latter film they began to speculate on how many movies Bacon had been in and the number of people with whom he had worked.A huge thank you to everyone who sent in a name to play!Making (Kevin) Bacon!BONUS CONTENT:An even huger thank you to Lorna Gilfedder for absolutely beautiful Dork Matters jingle! We're diving back into science fiction with today's movie, 1994's The Air Up There, because there's no way in hell you're going to have me believe that a 5'9, bum knee having, pushing 40, washed assistant coach at a DII school is cooking people like this. We're joined by the homie Brent of the Home Video Hustle podcast to discuss this flight of fancy. Aside from, again, how we don't believe for a second that Kevin Bacon wouldn't have been on skates this whole movie, we talk about more of that classic Disney© racism, who the best fictional white basketball player of all time is, ,and the real life story of what happened to the actor who played Saleh. Many thanks to Brent for joining us. You absolutely need to check out the Home Video Hustle podcast. It's hilarious and the range of movies is crazy as well. We've come to 1994 on Out of Touchstone, which brings us a series of adventures for the new year. We kick things off with the low-budget (and low-brow) comedy CABIN BOY, a star vehicle that Mike had a real hard time watching, though Chad did find it slightly enjoyable. Thankfully there were two other films released by Disney in the same month - THE AIR UP THERE (from Hollywood Pictures) and IRON WILL (from Walt Disney Films) - for the co-hosts to compare to Touchstone's flop. It's Chris Elliott on the high seas! It's Kevin Bacon in Africa! It's Mackenzie Astin in the Great White North! Adventure awaits!!

This week on the show, the sports fellows bring their agonizing brilliance to bear on the first two rounds of MARCH MADNESS. Among all the sweet hoops riffs, they manage to MAKE ROOM FOR the all week's hottest sports junk: Mikal's fever dream about the ritualistic cutting of nets, the preponderance of John Turturro haircuts in this year's tournament, the flat Earth: Shaq edition, another round of TOP PLAYS, and reports on the sports movie classics GUS and THE AIR UP THERE as well as popular Japanese anime series KOROKO NO BASKET.
