He also discussed establishing local manufacturing in the Gambia, saying experience from setting up the company's second production line means a new line could now take months rather than six or seven. The strategy, he explained, is to manufacture close to the markets it serves rather than produce centrally and ship products elsewhere. Eco Buildings is also eyeing a broader ECOWAS strategy that could let an operation serve not just the Gambian market but an expanded market across Africa. Albani said the appointments come as the company sees increasing demand and momentum. He highlighted Stevens' experience in public companies, fundraising and governance — Stevens will also chair the Audit Committee, calling that expertise particularly valuable for overseeing the financial side of the business. "The most important bits, specifically with the territories that we operate, is auditing, overseeing the financial side, making sure that everything is done properly," Albani said. He also discussed Chris Gilbert's appointment as an executive director. Gilbert previously led Fox Marble and has advised Eco Buildings since 2023, with Albani noting his longstanding knowledge of the company provides continuity as it implements its strategy. Albani said combining Stevens' financial and governance expertise with Gilbert's company-specific knowledge strengthens the board, whose central responsibility is overseeing the business and ensuring executives implement strategy in line with board directives. Eco Buildings Group (AIM:ECOB) founder and executive vice chairman Dr Etrur Albani joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with news that the company has kicked off construction of its second-generation, AI-enabled manufacturing platform at its production facility in Durres, Albania. This follows the successful completion of its recent £2.35 million. Albani said the first production line proved the underlying technology, while the new platform focuses on efficiency, lower labour costs and smarter manufacturing through AI-driven predictive maintenance, automated quality control and intelligent production systems. Real-world data from the first line, identifying efficiency gains, reducing downtime and improving consistency, has directly shaped the new platform's design. "Everything is controlled. Everything is data-driven," he said. On growth, Albani explained that Eco plans to scale through manufacturing capacity rather than labour-intensive methods, with ambitions to deploy dozens of production lines globally. He described Eco as a housing technology business built on advanced materials, automation and data-driven manufacturing, with near-term opportunities across Europe alongside continued activity in Latin America, Central America and parts of Africa. Al dagenlang gaan in Albanië duizenden mensen de straat op. De aanleiding is een omstreden bouwproject van Ivanka Trump en haar man Jared Kushner. De twee willen een gigantisch resort realiseren in een beschermd natuurgebied. Er leven onder meer flamingo's, zeeschildpadden en de zeldzame monniksrob. Tegenstanders zijn bang voor onherstelbare schade aan de natuur. Maar de protesten gaan inmiddels over meer dan alleen het bouwproject, vertelt correspondent Thijs Kettenis in deze podcast. Demonstranten zijn kwaad over corruptie en de manier waarop de Albanese premier Edi Rama grote bouwprojecten doordrukt zonder te luisteren naar de bevolking. "Hij is iemand die als olifant door de porseleinkast gaat, maar veel Albanezen zien hem ook als minst slechte optie, want zijn grote politieke tegenstander staat bekend als nog corrupter en veel alternatieven zijn er niet," aldus Kettenis.
